Abstract

Changes in environmental conditions and behavior in patients taking antibiotics causes some pathogenic bacteria become resistant. Increased bacterial resistance to antibiotics encourages applications as biocontrol phage to reduce pathogenic bacteria. This research aims to detect lytic phage on liquid waste traditional market in lysizing Escherichia coli bacteria. Plaque assay method was used in detecting lytic phage in wastewater. The Phage assay results from samples of wastewater traditional markets in Banda Aceh showed that specific lytic phage of E. coli was not detected; it is shown by the absence of clear zone formation on double-layer media (plaque assay negative).

Abstract

Ascolichen is group of lichen composed by ascomycetes (the mycobiont) and algae (the photobiont) species which play ecological and industrial roles. The campus area of Syiah Kuala University Gayo Lues is a part of the Gayo Highland which has specific environmental characteristics. The research aim was to determine the ascolichen species, the type of talus and the substrate characteristics. This study used a qualitative approach with research type was an exploratory survey. Data collection was carried out at 2 stations, namely Station I (campus area) and Station 2 (outside campus area). Data was analyzed descriptively. The results showed that there were 28 species of ascolichen found in the location which belong 3 classis, 6 orders, 15 families, and 25 genera. Moreover, the thallus types of lichen species were crustose (16 species), foliose (8 species), and fruticose (4 species). The types of lichen substrate were tree trunks (22 species), dead woods (9 species) and rocks (4 species). The acidity of the substrates ranges 4-6 (acidic).

Abstract

This study aims to improve the quality of biology learning process through think- Pair-Share (TPS) models, to improve student learning Outcomes, to describe teachers and student learning activities, and to determine the learning completeness level. The population of this study was 324 students of grade X. The sample was 20 students for the experiment class from class I5 and 20 students for the control class. The sample selected was based on a lottery system. The instrument in this study was a test. The data gathered was analyzed with a t-test. The result showed that the implementation of TPS on the Plantae concept can improve student learning outcomes. The learning process activities were well concluded. The dominant activity of teachers was as a facilitator while the dominant activity of students was doing on student worksheets in pairs. At the classical level as learning competency, The experiment class reached 80 % and the control class reached 60 % of a 100.

Abstract

Pliek u merupakan makanan hasil fermentasi kelapa yang sudah dimanfaatkan sejak lama oleh masyarakat Aceh untuk dikonsumsi sebagai bumbu masak dan sambal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis jamur yang terlibat pada setiap tahapan proses pembuatan pliek u. Jamur diisolasi dan diidentifikasi dari substrat kelapa pada tahapan sebelum fermentasi, awal fermentasi, akhir fermentasi dan pada substrat pliek u. Jamur diidentifikasi menggunakan teknik slide culture. Hasil penelitian diperoleh 12 isolat jamur yang dikelompokkan dalam 10 genus. Pada substrat sebelum fermentasi ditemukan jamur Geotrichum sp.1, Geotrichum sp.2, Cladosporium sp., Aspergillus sp., Paecilomyces sp.1, Acremonium sp., Curvularia sp., dan Penicillium sp. Pada substrat awal fermentasi ditemukan jamur Curvularia sp., Paecilomyces sp.2, dan Chromelosporium sp. Pada substrat akhir fermentasi ditemukan jamur Curvularia sp., Chromelosporium sp. dan Mortierella sp. Pada substrat pliek u ditemukan jamur Mucor sp. Jamur Curvularia sp ditemukan hampir pada setiap substrat dalam tahapan pembuatan pliek u, yaitu pada substrat sebelum fermentasi, awal fermentasi dan dan akhir fermentasi. Hal ini dikarenakan jamur Curvularia sp mampu bertahan pada pH, suhu serta substansi kimia yang sesuai dengan kondisi substrat pembuatan pliek u.

Abstract

ABSTRACTOrganoleptic or sensory test or sensory test is a test method in which the human senses function as the main instrument to determine whether a product is accepted. Organoleptic quality testing plays an essential role in implementing quality control. This study aimed to determine the effect of granulated sugar concentration on the organoleptic quality of nata de coco-leri. This study applied the experimental method with a non-factorial, Completely Randomized Design (CRD), including five treatments (negative control, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5% granulated sugar) with four replications. The parameters observed in this study were the organoleptic quality of nata de coco-leri. The data were analyzed quantitatively using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and the BNJ Follow-Up Test at a significant level of α = 0.05. The results of the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and BNJ tests explained that there was an effect of significantly different concentrations of granulated sugar on organoleptic quality, including elasticity, color, taste, texture, and aroma of nata de coco-leri. This study concludes that the concentration of 2.5% granulated sugar is the nata product that has the most significant effect on the organoleptic quality of nata de coco-leri.Keywords: Nata, granulated sugar, organoleptic ABSTRAKOrganoleptik ataupun uji indra ataupun uji sensori yakni suatu metode pengujian dimana indra manusia sendiri berfungsi sebagai instrumen utama untuk menentukan diterima ataupun tidaknya suatu produk. Pengujian kualitas organoleptik memainkan peran penting dalam penerapan kontrol kualitas. Tujuan penelitian ini guna mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi gula pasir terhadap mutu organoleptik nata de coco-leri. Penelitian ini menerapkan metode eksperimen dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial mencakup 5 perlakuan (kontrol negatif, perlakuan 1%, 1,5%, 2% dan 2,5% gula pasir) dengan 4 ulangan. Parameter yang dilakukan pengamatan pada penelitian ini yakni mutu organoleptik dari nata de coco-leri. Data dilaksanakan analisis secara kuantitatif dengan Analisis Varian (ANAVA) serta Uji Lanjut BNJ pada taraf signifikan α = 0,05. Hasil uji analisis varian (ANAVA) dan BNJ menerangkan bahwasanya terdapat pengaruh konsentrasi gula pasir yang berbeda nyata terhadap mutu organoleptik meliputi kekenyalan, warna, rasa, tekstur serta aroma nata de coco-leri. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yakni konsentrasi 2,5% gula pasir yakni produk nata yang paling berpengaruh nyata terhadap mutu organoleptik nata de coco-leri.Kata Kunci: Nata, gula pasir, organoleptik

Abstract

To enhance the tenderness of meat, it can be accomplished physically or chemically. In chemical way, the process can be accomplished using protease enzymes that can be obtained from fruit, the higher the protease enzyme activity, the softer the meat. In this experiment, the extract and juice of melinjo skin (Gnetum gnemon L) was used to examine the protease enzyme activity. Papaya (Carica papaya) and pineapple (Ananas comosus) were used as a comparison. The research was conducted to understand the influence of incubation time (t) and incubation temperature (To) towards the optimum activity characteristic of protease enzyme on the juice and the extract of melinjo skin, papaya and pineapple. The incubation time of juice and extract was from 0 to 90 minutes with incubation temperature of 37 C and incubation time at 20 minutes with incubation temperature range from 20 to 80C. The protease enzyme activity of juice and extract expand significantly (p0.05) in conjunction with the increase of incubation time and temperature. The research results revealed that the maximum activity of protease enzyme detected at incubation time of 90 minutes for melinjo juice and pineapple skin, and 10 minutes for papaya. The optimum incubation temperature of melinjo skin at 70 C, papaya at 60C and pineapple juice at 60C. Meanwhile, the maximum activity of protease enzyme from melinjo extract identified in the incubation time at 80 minutes, papaya at 90 minutes and pineapple 60 minutes, whereas the incubation temperature of melinjo skin juice at 60 C, papaya at 80  C and pineapple at 30C.

Abstract

ABSTRACTMosquitoes Culex sp. type of insect that is known as a vector for transmitting dangerous diseases, so it is necessary to controll iit so that it does not become a disease outbreak by utilizing plants such as basil leaves which can be an alternative insecticide. Pineapple peel is waste that can be used as bioethanol to be used as an organic solvent because it is polar. The study is aimed to determiine the movement behavior of Culex sp. mosquito larvae. after exposure to basil leaf extract before death. With 6 treatmnts and 4 repications, the research methodology utilized was a completely randomized design (CRD). As a treatment, water was used as a negative control (P0), basil leaf extract at concentrations of 1000 ppm, 1500 ppm, 2000 ppm, and 2500 ppm was used as a positive control (P4), and abate was used as a therapy at 100 ppm (P5). The Culex sp. mosquito larvae's behavior after being exposed to basil leaf extract was measured using the parameters. ANOVA was used to examine the data. The results of ANOVA on movement behavior of the larvae showed Fcount = 43.71 Ftable = 4.25. at the test level α = 0.01. This study concludes that Culex sp mosquito larvae that have been exposed to basil leaf extract show changes in moving behavior from previously active to inactive and finally die.Keywords: Behavior, Basil, Culex sp.ABSTRAK   Nyamuk Culex sp. ialah jenis serangga yang dikenal sebagai vektor penular penyakit berbahaya, sehingga perlu pengendali agar tidak menjadi wabah penyakit dengan memanfaatkan tumbuhan seperti daun kemangi yang dapat menjadi alternatif insektisida. Kulit nanas merupakan limbah yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bioetanol untuk dijadikan pelarut organik karena bersifat polar. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk melihat tingkah laku bergerak larva nyamuk Culex sp. setelah terpapar ekstrak daun kemangi sebelum kematian. Rancangan penelitian yang dipakai ialah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) menggunakan 6 perlakuan dan 4 kali ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu air (P0) sebagai kontrol negatif, konsentrasi ekstrak daun kemangi 1000 ppm (P1), 1500 ppm (P2), 2000 ppm (P3), 2500 ppm (P4) dan abate 100 ppm (P5) sebagai kontrol positif. Parameter yang diamati adalah tingkah laku larva nyamuk Culex sp. setelah terpapar ekstrak daun kemangi. Data dianalisis menggunakan ANAVA. Hasil ANAVA terhadap tingkah laku bergerak larva menunjukkan Fhitung = 43,71 Ftabel = 4,25. pada taraf uji α = 0,01. Simpulan dari penelitian ini ialah larva nyamuk Culex sp yang telah terpapar ekstrak daun kemangi menunjukkan perubahan tingkah laku bergerak yang sebelumnya aktif bergerak menjadi tidak aktif dan akhirnya mengalami kematian.Kata Kunci: Tingkah laku, Kemangi, Culex sp.

Abstract

Between 2020 and 2023, two groups of people have relatively the same experience in using technology, namely Generation X and Generation Y. Teachers from these two generations are expected to have the ability to integrate technology into their learning activities. The framework that can be used to identify these abilities is TPACK. This quantitative survey aims to see the differences in the TPACK abilities of biology teachers based on generations X and Y. The research sample consisted of 68 science teachers from Aceh Province. The data is distributed using Google Forms and analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The results show that there is a significant difference between the TPACK abilities of teachers from generation X and generation Y. Another exciting result is that teachers from generation Y have slightly better TPACK abilities than teachers from generation X. The results of this study suggest that teachers, educational lecturers, and educational students should always try to integrate the latest technology into learning activities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the completeness of laboratory facilities and infrastructures, the implementation of the laboratorial practice, to measure the causal factors of laboratorial practice to run, and to be alert of laboratory infrastructure completeness and the implementation of the biology laboratorial practice. Data were collected by observation and questionnaires. The sample in this study were 11 high schools in Banda Aceh, with respondents 11 biology teachers who are responsible for teaching class XI and 99 students of class XI IPA. The data were analyzed using the proportion formula and the product moment answer formula. The study resulted in the findings that: 1) the proportion of completeness of facilities and infrastructure was 66.77% (good). 2) the proportion of laboratorial ptactice implementation was 62.81% (sufficiently implemented). 3) factors of laboratorial procurement, including, inadequate support, inadequate materials, insufficient time allocation, lack of readiness of laboratory assistants in preparing tools and materials, absence of laboratory assistants in several sample schools, and some biology / laboratory assistants in The sample school had never been trained to guide students or to use laboratory equipment. 4) the correlation between the laboratory facilities completeness and infrastructure with laboratorial practice implementation was 0.27 (low). Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kriteria kelengkapan sarana dan prasarana laboratorium, kriteria keterlaksanaan praktikum, mengumpulkan faktor kendala yang menyebabkan kurang berjalannya praktikum, dan untuk mengetahui korelasi antara kelengkapan sarana prasarana laboratorium dengan keterlaksanaan praktikum biologi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi dan angket. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 11 SMA di Kota Banda Aceh, dengan responden 11 guru biologi yang mengajar kelas XI dan 99 peserta didik kelas XI IPA. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan rumus persentase dan rumus korelasi Product moment. Hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa: 1) persentase kelengkapan sarana dan prasarana laboratorium sebesar 66,77% (baik). 2) persentase keterlaksanaan praktikum sebesar 62,81% (cukup terlaksana). 3) faktor kendala pelaksanaan praktikum diantaranya, fasilitas pendukung yang tidak memadai, minimnya kelengkapan bahan praktikum, alokasi waktu untuk praktikum tidak mencukupi, kurangnya kesiapan  laboran dalam mempersiapkan alat dan bahan praktikum, tidak adanya laboran di beberapa sekolah sampel, dan sebagian guru biologi/laboran di sekolah sampel belum pernah mengikuti pelatihan mengenai praktikum atau penggunaan alat laboratorium. 4) korelasi antara kelengkapan sarana dan prasarana laboratorium dengan keterlaksanaan praktikum sebesar 0,27 (rendah).
