Abstract

This study aims to examine the strategies for cultivating and developing regional languages within the context of Smart Society 5.0; a society that places humans at the center of technological innovation. Regional languages are vital cultural assets that reflect local identity and values. However, amid the currents of globalization and the dominance of national and foreign languages in digital spaces, many regional languages are experiencing a decline in speakers, particularly among the younger generation. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through a literature review of journal articles, books, policy documents, and official reports. The findings indicate that regional language development through school-based local content, teacher training, and community involvement proves effective when supported by strong policies and the use of digital technology. Educational apps, online dictionaries, and multimedia content present significant opportunities to engage the interest of younger generations. The role of cultural communities, traditional institutions, and local governments is also crucial in revitalizing the function of regional languages in daily life. Therefore, preservation strategies must integrate cultural, educational, and technological approaches in a sustainable manner. This study recommends a community-based collaborative model and a digital ecosystem as adaptive preservation strategies for the challenges of the Smart Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

This research focuses on analyzing the female characters in Putu Supartika's short story, "Luh Sekar lan Satuané Rikala Ujané Bales Tusing Dadi Tanggehang." This story contains numerous aspects of feminist discourse, interwoven with social critique of related phenomena in Balinese society. The data analysis was conducted using two primary methods, beginning with structural literary analysis. The findings indicate that the short story "Luh Sekar lan Satuané Rikala Ujané Bales Tusing Dadi Tanggehang" explores the theme of a father's cruelty, where the characters Luh Sekar and her Mother consistently experience situations that violate norms and their rights as women. The story features three characters and their distinct personalities, set primarily in a house, a room, and a community health center (Puskesmas), and employs a linear plot progression. Subsequently, the literary work was analyzed using feminist literary theory. The research findings related to the female characters reveal various elements of feminism. Relevant sentences, paragraphs, and dialogue excerpts were collected and thoroughly examined through the lens of feminist literary criticism.

Abstract

Local languages represent a vital pillar of cultural identity, yet they currently face serious challenges due to globalization, urbanization, and the dominance of national and foreign languages. This study aims to analyze strategies for revitalizing local languages in the digital era as an effort to preserve their existence and strengthen Indonesia’s cultural identity. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through literature review, digital content analysis, and examination of revitalization practices conducted by communities, educational institutions, and government agencies. The findings indicate that digital technology, particularly social media, language learning applications, and creative platforms, offers significant opportunities for sustaining local languages. Revitalization efforts, however, require not only technological innovation but also multi-stakeholder collaboration among policymakers, academics, and communities. The study concludes that local languages hold great potential to thrive within digital spaces, thereby reinforcing cultural identity among younger generations amidst global cultural homogenization.

Abstract

This article aims at establishing hypothesis-based suggestions in promoting government public policy toward Indonesian using indigenous language. This research was conducted descriptively to describe the phenomena found. The data were also obtained from libraries and related sources. The results of the study indicate that the rapid development of the Bahasa Indonesia does not necessarily eliminate the role of regional languages. This is because regional languages still have a vital function. The existence of regional languages makes it easy for the government to convey their policies, especially for people who still use regional languages. Therefore, it is important to always preserve regional languages.
