Abstract

The activity of catching sharks and rays around the world have exceeded catch limits, causing some species to be in danger or extinct. Indonesia is one of the countries that still allows fishing for sharks and rays. Lots of fishermen at Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara Brondong have been fishing sharks and rays for several generation.so that it can be causing several species of sharks and rays in Indonesia are threatened. Knowing attachment of APPENDIX II CITES, sharks and rays have become a major concern in fisheries management and marine conservation around the world. Many of these groups are endangered due to massive exploitation over the past few decades. Some species of sharks and rays have been enrolled on attachment of APPENDIX II CITES, which controls international trade in endangered species.

Abstract

The hydrodynamics of the Musi estuary ecosystem is influenced by the flow of water discharge from the river, tidal circulation within the estuary, and complex bathymetry. Numerical modeling is one of the best ways to explain the characteristics and processes occurring in the estuary. However, the obtained model requires validation to ensure its accuracy despite the complexity added by variability in tidal and bathymetric conditions, making the validation process more challenging. This difficulty can be overcome by using high-resolution data, which provides a refined understanding of the river-to-sea estuary flow and its variability. The validation process involves the use of conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) instruments and mooring tidal stations. The validated model is considered capable of accurately simulating tidal propagation as it represents the temperature-salinity-density properties within the estuarine environment. The development of this model demonstrates the effective implementation of these parameters within the Musi estuary ecosystem domain. The 3D model simulation is used to consider the vertical discretization in the river-estuary-sea channel, which enhances the representation of temperature-salinity-density in the water column. The obtained results suggest that the 3D-MIKE modeling is well-suited for operational purposes, including the prediction of hydrodynamics and the management of estuarine areas, specifically in the Musi estuary ecosystem.

Abstract

Determination of the datum chart using the tide component can be used to determine the depth of the harbour basin. TPI Palang's harbour basin is often used as a place for mooring fishing boats, but it often happens that the ships get stuck before entering the haarbour basin. The type of fishing ship at the TPI Palang harbour basin is a payang boat with a draft depth of 2 m. The depth of the harbour basin measurement results in July 2017 was 8 m, while based on the bathymetric map is 12 m. Palang waters, in Tuban Regency is located in the North Sea of East Java, which is open water type, therefore the determination of the depth of the harbour basin is based on the state of the water, is 1.2 x ship draft, which is 2.4 m. The least square and the admiralty method were used to compare the best method in calculating the tidal component. Researchers used tidal data for August 2016- July 2017 obtained from BIG. The tidal type of the Palang waters is diurnal, with an F value for admiralty treatment of 5,160 with least square processing of 5,167. The correlation coefficient of the tidal component with admiralty processing occurs in K1-MS4 of 0.792, while the least square occurs in K1-M4 of 1.6. The result of the calculation of the tidal component of the least square is used to determine the value of the datum chart. The IHO (International Hydrographic Organization) datum chart is used as a basic reference for calculating the depth of the TPI Palang harbour basin. The results show that the required depth of Palang waters in the existing condition (8 m) still requires dredging between 0.033 - 1.071 m. However, to meet the standard of the harbour basin, the required depth is 13,071 m (from LWS) to 13,557 m (from LLWS) which means that the dredging of the harbour basin is about ± 4 m.

Abstract

Anchovy is the main catch and the primary consumption of coastal communities in Indonesia, and its production shows an increase of more than 10% in 2021. Tuban district, in East Java, Indonesia is part of the WPP 712 (Wilayah Pengelolaan Perikanan or Fisheries Management Area) and highly produces anchovies’ fisheries. Anchovy has a small size, making it difficult to identify morphologically. This study aimed to genetically identify anchovy samples obtained from North Java (Tuban) waters. Molecular identification was conducted by utilizing Cytochrome Oxidase Subunit I (COI) gene using jg-HCO and jg-LCO primers. This study observed 12 individual samples with 623 base pair sequence length. Five species were obtained, namely four species of anchovies (Encrasicholina heteroloba, Encrasicholina punctifer, Stolephorus waitei, and Stolephorus insularis) and one species of sardines (Dussumieria elopsoides) with 99.84-100% similarity to NCBI sequences data. Anchovies typically have a streamlined body with a slightly compressed shape. Anchovies have cycloid scales, which are smooth-edged and relatively small, ranging from a few centimeters to around 20 centimeters in length. Some of the genus from the Anchovy group are Encrasicholina and Stolephorus. The phylogenetic tree reconstruction leads into four clades with a genetic distance between clades of 17,9-24,5 %. This research provides methods and data on the genetic diversity of anchovies taxa caught in Tuban, East Java. The findings are expected to support promoting new standards for healthier and more sustainable anchovy stocks in the country. Overall, this study contributes to providing valuable insights for fisheries management and conservation efforts in Indonesia.

Abstract

Fish can be processed into various products, such as smoked fish. This product is unique, much in demand, and can extend the shelf life of fish. Traditionally processed smoked fish often does not meet the quality standards of smoked fish quality. Therefore, the efhilink fumigation device was developed. This study was conducted to compare the smoked tuna using traditional smoking and efhilink using corn cob smoked as fuel. This study obtained data that smoked tuna with efhilink has better quality than smoked tuna with traditional processing based on organoleptic quality parameters, carbon residue content, water content, and microbiological quality based on ALT values.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine how long the tuna smoking process takes and how long the quality of smoked fish lasts by conducting an organoleptic test. The material of this research is the organoleptic test of smoked tuna quality with the Efhilink fish fumigator and a simple cabinet type for smoking time. The method in this research is to use an experimental method, namely with corn oddball as a material for smoking cobs. The conclusion of the different treatment of the Efhilink and the simple cabinet type with the analysis results can be seen that the fastest smoking process produced by the Efhilink rack 1 type fumigator is 56 minutes. This is because the working process of the Efhilink type smoker changes the shape of the smoke produced into liquid smoke by connecting the smoke pipe with the condenser so that the temperature of the Efhilink device can be hotter than the Simple Cabinet-type fumigator, besides that the position of rack 1 is very close to the smoke source. Whereas the longest smoking process produced by a Simple Cabinet Type 3 rack smoking device is 325 minutes or 5 hours 25 minutes this is due to the working process of the Simple Cabinet Type smoking device which emits the smoke produced through the top funnel, so that the heat produced is lower. than the Efhilink-type fumigator.....

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine how long the tuna smoking process takes and how long the quality of smoked fish lasts by conducting an organoleptic test. The material of this research is the organoleptic test of smoked tuna quality with the Efhilink fish fumigant and the simple cabinet type on smoking time. The method used in this study is an experimental method that is by using corn clams as fuel for smoking cobs. The conclusion of the different treatment of the Efhilink and the simple cabinet type with the analysis results can be seen that the fumigation process that is the fastest produced by the Efhilink rack 1 type fumigator is 56 minutes. This is because the working process of the Efhilink type smoker changes the shape of the smoke produced into liquid smoke by connecting the smoke pipe with the condenser so that the temperature of the Efhilink device can be hotter than the Simple Cabinet-type fumigator, besides that the position of rack 1 is very close to the smoke source. . Whereas the longest smoking process produced by a Simple Cabinet Type 3 rack smoking device is 325 minutes or 5 hours 25 minutes this is due to the working process of the Simple Cabinet Type smoking device which emits the smoke produced through the top funnel, so that the heat produced is lower. than the Efhilink-type fumigator. In addition, the position of shelf 3 is very far from the smoke source. Meanwhile, the best organoleptic test value was produced on day 3 of the two tools. Based on the results of the study, it is suggested that the fumigation process uses the Efhilink smoke device.
