Abstract

Children under five are an age group that is vulnerable to nutritional problems and infectious diseases. Sikumana Health Center ranks second highest in Kupang City with 53 under-five children and 611 stunted children under five in 2018. In addition, Sikumana Health Center ranks first with 4503 cases of pneumonia and second for diarrhea with a total of 551 cases. This study aims to examine the growth and diseases that are often experienced by children under five in the working area of the Sikumana Health Center, Kupang City. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The population of this study was 3,832 children under five. Sampling using total sampling technique so that the sample size is the same as the population size. Data were analyzed based on the N/D ratio expressed in percent to determine the growth of children under five, and infectious diseases were analyzed based on the total number of medical visits for all children under five to the puskesmas which was reflected in the 10 most common diseases in children under five and expressed in percent. The results showed that the coverage of the growth of children under five was low (46.05%). Meanwhile, infectious diseases experienced by children under five include ARI (40.72%), Common Cold (18.61%), Gastroenteritis (5.61%), RFA (5.27%), TFA (4.30%), Diarrhea (4.30%), Rhinitis (3.58%), Bronchopneumonia (2 ,94%) and Bronchitis (2.45%). The coverage of the growth of children under five in the working area of the Sikumana Health Center is in the low category, and the infectious diseases that are mostly experienced by children under five are more related to the respiratory system and digestive system.

Abstract

Teenage girls are at high risk for anemia because their Fe needs increase due to growth and menstruation. Anemia can cause fatigue, reduced learning concentration, low academic achievement, reduced work efficiency, and decreased endurance. One of the government's efforts to prevent anemia is by implementing an Fe supplementation program for teenage girls. The implementation did not go well because there were still many teenage girls who were reluctant to take Fe supplements. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of Fe supplement consumption on the incidence of anemia in female students at SMAK Tunas Gloria and SMAS Beringin Kupang City. This research was conducted in November - December 2020 using an analytical survey method with a cross sectional study. The population in this entire study was found to be 61 (31 students at Tunas Gloria High School and 30 students at Beringin High School). The sample for this study were 61 female students. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate using chi square. The results showed there was a relationship between the consumption of Fe supplements and the incidence of anemia (p-value=0.018) and the value of PR=6,66 this means that students who do not take Fe supplements have a 6,66 times greater risk of developing anemia than students who take Fe supplements. The behavior of consuming Fe tablets which is not good can not meet the needs of Fe in a body that is deficient in Fe so that Hb levels in the blood are not normal and anemia occurs in students. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the awareness of young women about the importance of consuming Fe tablets regularly to prevent anemia.

Abstract

Sillu Village farmers' corn commodity has a very low economic added value, so their income is low. This is due to a lack of quantity and quality processed products, which are not supported by TTG, unappealing product packaging and labeling, a lack of P-IRT, and poor organization and management. The solution includes the setup of marning production using TTG with SOPs covering input, process, and output; packaging and marketing; packaging and labeling design; organization and management setup; and the search for new markets, as well as the management of P-IRT and halal certificates. Lectures, the practice of making corn-based processed food variants, procurement of production equipment, improvement of organizational structure and business management, distribution permit management (P-IRT, halal certificate), laboratory testing, and digital marketing are among the methods used in the approach. Increased partner awareness of the importance and management of P-IRT, good corn-based processed food production processes, mastery of TTG, halal-certified and labeled marning products, improved organizational and management formations, and availability of financial records and inventory are among the outcomes obtained.

Abstract

Iron nutrition is the main element in the formation of hemoglobin. Consumption of insufficient iron nutrient intake can be at risk of anemia which causes oxygen transport to be reduced, resulting in low energy production which has an impact on the work productivity of young women. This study aims to determine the relationship between iron nutrient intake and hemoglobin levels of students of the Faculty of Public Health, Nusa Cendana University. This type of research is  an analytical survey and is used in a cross sectional design. The total population of 595 female students and a sample of 86 female students consisting of semesters II, IV, and VI were obtained. Sampling is carried out by the stratified sampling  method  purposively.   Statistical analysis using the Pearson Product Moment test.  The results showed that out of 86 respondents, the average consumption of iron intake was 11.5 mg and 76.7% of female students' hemoglobin levels were in the normal category. The results of the Pearson Product Moment  analysis showed that the p-value= 0.965>0.05 had no significant relationship between the level of iron nutrition adequacy and hemoglobin levels in young women. The need to provide education about the importance of consuming iron nutrition intake to prevent the risk of anemia.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem caused by a lack of nutritional intake during the first 1000 days of life which results in stunted physical growth and cognitive development of children. This study aims to study the relationship between energy and protein adequacy levels with nutritional status. The type of research used in this research is analytic observational with a cross-sectional research design. The sample size in this study was 61 of the 866 population of children under five who were selected by proportional random sampling. Analysis using chi-square test. The results showed that the energy adequacy level variable with significant nutritional status (p-value = 0.000 <0.05) and protein adequacy level with significant nutritional status (p-value = 0.000 <0.05). Nutritional problems, namely stunting, need to be prevented by increasing energy and protein intake in toddlers.

Abstract

Stunting is a form of body size nutritional disorder characterized by a short body under conditions that exceed a-2 SD deficit under World Health Organization (WHO) criteria. Based on the results of field information in the Laja Health Center, 92 stunting children and 32 malnourished children were distributed over seven villages. This study aims to determine the relationship between energy and protein, intake, and infectious diseases with the incidence of stunting in the work area of the Laja Health Center, Golewa Selatan Subdistrict, Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. This study is an analytical survey research using a case-control design. The number of research samples (32 cases and 32 controls) was selected using a simple random sampling method. The analysis used univariate and bivariate using the chi-square test. The result shows a significant relationship between energy intake and incidence of stunting (OR=8,700: 95%CI=2,493-30,364: p=0,001): infection diseases with the incidence of stunting (OR=4,241: 95%CI=1,479-12,165: p=0,012). The analysis showed no significant relationship between protein intake and the incidence of stunting (OR=3,640:95%CI=1,118-11,894;(p=0,053). It is recommended that mothers of toddlers understand the importance of consuming foods that contain sources of energy and protein, and mothers of toddlers are expected to pay attention to the health of their children.
