Abstract

This research aims to obtain optimal value for the surface roughness of the material AISI P20 on the Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) Sinking process. In the present research, the Taguchi method is used to investigate the significant influence of process variables on the machining performance and determine the combination of process variables on the EDM process. Orthogonal array L18 (21 × 33) based on the Taguchi method is chosen for the design of experiment. The experiment is replicated twice to finding out the influence of four process variables such as type of electrode, voltage gap, on-time, and off-time on the response performance. Machining performance is evaluated by surface roughness as a response variable that had quality characteristics, smaller is better. These experimental data were analyzed using the Signal-to-noise ratio and Analysis of Variance. The analysis results show that the surface roughness is influenced by the type of electrode and on time. Combination of process variables to obtain optimal surface roughness are using graphite electrodes, and setting values of gap voltage 40 volt, on-time 250 μs, and off-time 20 μs. This combination of process variables can be applied to the manufacturing process using EDM sinking in order to produce a good quality product that determined based on the surface roughness value.

Abstract

Research aim: Analyzing the impact of the EFQM 2020 model on assessing business sustainability and business orientation categories of Wirausaha Merdeka tenants using Structural Equation Modeling and EFQM self-assessment. Method: The research uses quantitative data, the SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) method, and EFQM self-assessment. Research Finding: The results of the SEM analysis reveal that organizational culture and leadership, driving performance and transformation, and strategic and operational performance positively influence business sustainability. On the other hand, purpose, vision, and strategy, creating sustainable value, and stakeholder perceptions negatively influence business sustainability. Additionally, engaging stakeholders does not influence business sustainability. Meanwhile, based on the EFQM self-assessment results, it is found that 5 tenants are product-oriented, 16 tenants are process-oriented, and 2 tenants are system-oriented. Theoretical contribution/Originality: This research extends the application of EFQM to more specifically measure the sustainability level of vocational tenant startups, mainly focusing on the specific dimensions of business sustainability. Practitioner/Policy implication: This study adopts the EFQM Model to assess the sustainability of vocational tenant businesses. This study will thoroughly analyze the scores obtained for each EFQM criterion and identify the critical factors contributing to business sustainability. The results of this evaluation will serve as a basis for formulating more targeted recommendations for improvement and development. Research limitation: The EFQM self-assessment focused solely on obtaining the business orientation category through questionnaire responses, lacking in-depth evaluation through interviews.

Abstract

Forklifts are loading and unloading vehicles that have recorded the highest number of near-miss incidents, primarily caused by human error and classified as unsafe behavior. In this context, driver behavior associated with the safety climate within the manufacturing company refers specifically to forklift operators. This study divides the safety climate into six variables: communication and procedures, job pressure, management commitment, relationships, safety regulations, and risk perception. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between safety climate and driver behavior among forklift operators in a manufacturing company. Data were collected using a questionnaire instrument with a total sample of 37 participants. The relationship was examined using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation test. The results show that communication and procedures have a moderate correlation with driver behavior (p-value = 0.544), while job pressure (p-value = 0.642), management commitment (p-value = 0.762), relationships (p-value = 0.712), and safety regulations (p-value = 0.607) show strong correlations. Risk perception also shows a moderate correlation (p-value = 0.544). These findings indicate that all six safety climate variables—communication and procedures, job pressure, management commitment, relationships, safety regulations, and risk perception—are significantly related to driver behavior.

Abstract

The high rate of occupational accidents in the food industry continues to be largely attributed to unsafe actions related to worker behavior. Within the context of food processing, which is inherently complex and high-risk, establishing a work environment that promotes psychosocial safety is crucial. Workers' perceptions of how well their organization prioritizes psychosocial safety may influence their compliance with and participation in workplace safety practices. This study aims to examine the influence of the psychosocial safety climate on safety behavior among assembling division workers in a soy sauce and syrup processing company. A quantitative research approach was employed using a survey method, with a validated and reliable questionnaire. A total of 70 permanent workers participated as respondents, and the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the aid of statistical software. The simultaneous test results indicated that psychosocial safety climate significantly affects safety behavior (p = 0.000). Partially, management support and commitment (p = 0.012), management priority (p = 0.000), and organizational communication (p = 0.001) had a significant positive influence on safety behavior. In contrast, organizational participation and involvement were found to be statistically insignificant (p = 0.628) and negatively associated. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.403, indicating that psychosocial safety climate explains 40.3% of the variance in safety behavior. These findings highlight the critical role of tangible management support, effective communication, and prioritization and involvement in fostering safe and sustainable workplace behavior.
