Abstract

Masa remaja merupakan periode pertumbuhan maksimal seseorang sehingga pemenuhan nutrisi yang seimbang selama masa ini sangat dibutuhkan. Persepsi tubuh atau body image secara umum dialami oleh mereka yang menganggap bahwa penampilan adalah hal yang paling penting dalam kehidupan, termasuk pada masa remaja. Mispersepsi berat badan dapat mempengaruhi pola makan seseorang. Strategi utama yang disarankan untuk meningkatkan nutrisi remaja salah satunya dengan modifikasi perilaku untuk menghasilkan perubahan pola makan melalui edukasi yang ramah remaja yaitu dengan pemberian edukasi mengenai body image dan gizi seimbang secara daring. Seluruh siswa baik dari Program IPA maupun IPS mengalami peningkatan nilai setelah mendapatkan edukasi gizi meskipun dilakukan secara daring sebesar 12,96 poin. Peningkatan poin siswa IPA lebih tinggi dibandingkan pada siswa IPS (IPA 16,21 poin & IPS 7,87 poin).

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between thyroid dysfunction with Total Cholesterol levels (TC), Body Mass Index (BMI), Waist Circumference (WC) and Waist to hip Circumference Ratio (WHR). The cross-sectional observational study was conducted in the endemic iodine deficiency areas in Prambanan Sub-district, Sleman Regency. A total subject of 134 women of reproductive age were selected randomly from the source population of 592. Thyroid dysfunction determined by Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) and Free Thyroxine (FT4) level were measured by ELISA method. Total cholesterol level was measured by colorimetric method using a spectrophotometer. We also measured the weight and height for BMI calculation as well as the WC and Hip Circumference (HC). Chi-Square test was applied to analyze association between thyroid dysfunction with TC levels, BMI, WC and WHR. Results found the percentage of thyroid dysfunction in subjects was 39.6% (hypothyroidism 4.5% and hyperthyroidism 35.1%). The percentage of subjects with hypercholesterolemia was 34.3%. The BMI calculation found that the underweight, overweight and obesity proportions were 6.7%; 16.4% and 27.6% respectively; WC >80 cm was 29.9% and WHR >0.85 was 38.8%. There was no association between thyroid dysfunction and TC levels, BMI and WC (p>0.05) respectively. Meanwhile thyroid dysfunction was significantly associated with WHR (p<0.05). Therefore, women in reproductive age with thyroid dysfunction should be aware of their increasing abdominal adiposity.

Abstract

Pada masa remaja, terutama di jenjang sekolah menengah atas (SMA), terjadi proses pertumbuhan dan perkembangan yang cepat sehingga diperlukan asupan gizi yang seimbang. Pada periode ini, remaja mulai memiliki kebebasan dalam menentukan pilihan makanan, termasuk kebiasaan membeli jajanan di luar rumah. Selain itu, besarnya uang saku yang diterima siswa juga berperan dalam memengaruhi status gizi, karena jumlah uang saku dapat memengaruhi jenis serta frekuensi makanan yang dikonsumsi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis hubungan antara kebiasaan jajan dan jumlah uang saku dengan status gizi siswa SMA di Banjarsari, Surakarta. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain crosssectional. Sebanyak 154 responden dipilih secara purposive sampling dengan kriteria inklusi yaitu siswa aktif dan bersedia menjadi subjek penelitian. Data dikumpulkan melalui penimbangan berat badan dan pengukuran tinggi badan untuk menentukan IMT/U, menggunakan kuesioner kebiasaan jajan, hubungan kebiasaan jajan dan jumlah uang saku dengan status gizi dianalisis menggunakan uji Chi-Square.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa 64,3% siswa memiliki status gizi normal, 59,1% kebiasaan jajan siswa berada dalam kategori sedang. Analisis statistik menunjukkan adanya hubungan kebiasaan jajan dengan status gizi dengan nilai p = 0,007. Namun, pada jumlah uang saku dengan status gizi tidak terdapat hubungan dengan nilai p = 0,189. Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kebiasaan jajan dengan status gizi siswa SMA di Banjarsari, Surakarta. Sedangkan pada uang saku dengan status gizi tidak memiliki hubungan signifikan secara langsung menunjukkan bahwa uang saku bukan satu-satunya penentu status gizi.

Abstract

Masalah gizi seperti status gizi kurang dan gizi lebih, rentan dialami oleh kelompok usia produktif yang termasuk dalam periode dewasa. Status gizi dapat dipengaruhi beberapa faktor salah satunya adalah pengetahuan gizi dan persepsi tubuh. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk menganalisis hubungan antara persepsi tubuh dengan status gizi mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Jenis penelitian dengan observasional menggunakan desain penelitian cross-sectional. Teknik pengambilan sampel simple random sampling dengan sampel sebanyak 41 responden. Data tingkat pengetahuan gizi diperoleh dari kuisioner pengetahuan gizi dengan jumlah pertanyaan 25 soal dan data persepsi tubuh diperoleh dari kuesioner Multidemensional Body Self Relation Questionnaire-Appearance Scale (MBSRQ-AS) jumlah pertanyaan 30 soal. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 4,9% responden memiliki pengetahuan gizi tidak baik, persepsi tubuh dengan kategori negatif sebanyak 36,6%, status gizi underweight 22%, overweight 12,2% dan obesitas I sebesar 22%. Hasil uji korelasi yaitu  p-value = 0,126 untuk pengetahuan gizi dengan status gizi, kemudian p-value = 0,127 untuk body image dengan status gizi. Tidak terdapat  hubungan antara pengetahuan gizi dengan status gizi pada pada responden. Tidak terdapat hubungan antara persepsi tubuh dengan status gizi pada responden.

Abstract

Background: Dysmenorrhea, which is the condition of cramps or pain during menstruation, can be caused by various factors, including inadequate intake of calcium and iron. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between the adequacy of calcium and iron intake and the severity of primary dysmenorrhea among nutrition students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Method: A cross-sectional design was used in this study with a sample of 140 female students at Nutrition Science in UMS. Simple random sampling was utilized for sample collection. The WaLIDD scale questionnaire was used to calculate dysmenorrhea scores, and the SQ-FFQ form was employed to assess the adequacy of calcium and iron intake over the past month. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank test. Results: The findings indicate that all students experienced dysmenorrhea, with an average calcium intake adequacy of 36.3% and an average iron intake adequacy also categorized as insufficient (42.4%). From the Spearman Rank test analysis, the adequacy of calcium intake related to dysmenorrhea showed a p-value of 0.450, and iron intake adequacy related to dysmenorrhea had a p-value of 0.244. Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between the adequacy of calcium and iron intake and the severity of primary dysmenorrhea among the nutrition students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. It is recommended that future researchers can conduct blood serum measurements to assess calcium and iron levels to prevent dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

Endurance sports are a type of sports that prioritize continuous endurance for a long time so that it releases energy and sweat that exceeds ordinary activities. Therefore, complementary foods are needed to overcome the loss of energy and fluids during exercise such as energy chews. The addition of lemon was intended to add flavor, a source of potassium and as a natural preservative for the product. The purposes of this study were to describe and analyze the water and potassium contents of the watermelon rind with the addition of lemon zest energy chews. This was a true experimental study using a completely randomized design (CRD) which consists of 4 formulations with the addition of lemon juice; 0 g, 25 g, 30 g and 35 g lemon juice per 50 g watermelon rind. The water content tests used the oven method and the potassium test used the gravimetric method. The results of the water content test got an average value of 80.16% while the results of the potassium level test got an average value of 101.84 mg/100g. The results of the influence test of lemon zest addition on water content showed p value = 0.956 while potassium content p = 0.884. There were no effects of the addition of lemon zest on the water and potassium content of the watermelon rind energy chews product. The water content in energy chews products did not meet the SNI requirements of a maximum of 20% so that it still needs further development.

Abstract

Background : Many of research explained that Omega-3 and Omega-6 consumption during pregnancy affect delivery method. Omega-3 and omega-5 affect uterus contraction. The prevalence of caesarean section in 154 countries were 21.1%, and 43% in Primary health care. Caesarean section has a risk to get complication during and after parturition also could increase maternity cost. Objectives:  The aim of study was to determine the relationship between ratio omega-6: omega-3 intake and the incidence of cesarean section in postpartum mothers in the Bendosari Primary Health Care area. Method: This was observational study with cross sectional approach. The subjects of the study were 66 postpartum mothers who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were selected using the purposive sampling method. Data of omega-3 and omega-6 intake during the 2-3rd semester tri pregnancy period were obtained by interview method using the Semi Quantitative Food Frequency (SQ_FFQ) form. The relationship between omega-3 intake and caesarean section was analyzed with the Chi-Square test (P<0,05), while Fisher’s exact test was used to analyzed the relationship between intake ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 (P<0,05). Result: There was a relationship between omega-3 intake and ratio between omega-6: omega-3 intake with caesarean section with P-value 0.03. The mother who consume high omega-3 had prevalence ratio 3,6 times higher to have normal delivery compared than mother who had low consumption of omega-3. Moreover, mother who had sufficient ratio of omega 6: omega 3 in their diet had prevalence ratio 9 times higher to have normal delivery compared with mother who had high ratio of omega 6: omega 3in the diet during pregnancy. Pregnant women suggests to consume high omega-3 and sufficient ratio omega-6:omega-3 to prevent risk of  caesarean section

Abstract

Hypertension is a major health problem among the elderly and is strongly associated with central obesity, which often increases due to physiological changes during aging. Waist circumference (WC) and waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) are recognized as practical anthropometric indicators for assessing central obesity and predicting cardiovascular risks, including elevated blood pressure. This study aimed to examine the relationship between waist circumference and waist-to-height ratio with systolic and diastolic blood pressure among elderly individuals in Cemani Village. This research employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach involving 69 elderly respondents selected through consecutive sampling. Data on waist circumference, height, and blood pressure were obtained through direct measurements. Statistical analysis was performed using Pearson or Spearman correlation tests based on normality results. The findings showed that most respondents had WC and WHtR values categorized as centrally obese. Waist circumference and WHtR were not significantly associated with systolic blood pressure (p = 0.794; p = 0.824), but both demonstrated significant associations with diastolic blood pressure (p = 0.002; p = 0.001). These results indicate that central obesity, reflected by WC and WHtR, may contribute more strongly to diastolic pressure elevation than to systolic changes. Therefore, routine monitoring of anthropometric indicators among the elderly is essential for early detection and prevention of hypertension.

Abstract

Kabupaten Sukoharjo memiliki jumlah penduduk 115.801 jiwa dan menduduki peringkat ke-19 dengan tingkat hipertensi tertinggi di Provinsi Jawa Tengah tahun 2021. Sedangkan di Desa Waru, terdapat 43 lansia di Posyandu Anggrek dan 58% diantaranya mengidap hipertensi yang disebabkan gaya hidup dan pola makan tidak sehat serta kurangnya edukasi terhadap penyakit hipertensi. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan penyuluhan terkait pengetahuan dan pemahaman serta deteksi dini terhadap penyakit hipertensi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini diawali dengan menentukan prioritas masalah dengan USG dan analisis masalah dengan fishbone. Media informasi yang digunakan adalah poster dan leaflet. Hasil dari penyuluhan terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan sebesar 13.3%. Hasil uji statistik non parametrik wilcoxon nilai p = 0.006 dengan rata-rata nilai pretest 6 dan nilai posttest 7.8. Hal ini menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yangsignifikan antara sebelum dan sesudah penyuluhan hipertensi. Berdasarkan hasil uji statistik non parametrik wilcoxon didapatkan nilai p= 0.348 (>0.05) pada tekanan darah sistolik dan p= 0,069 (>0.05) pada tekanan darah diastolik, maka tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara nilai tekanan darah sistolik maupun diastolik pretest dan posttest. Berdasarkan kegiatan pengabdian diharapkan dapat meningkatkan partisipasi masyarakat agar rutin ke posyandu lansia untuk melakukan pemeriksaan kesehatan dan senam hipertensi serta menerapkan diet hipertensi bagi lansia.

Abstract

Kejadian stunting di Desa Ngrombo mencapai 13,5%, angka ini masih jauh dari target yang telah ditentukan oleh Dinas Kesehatan Sukoharjo. Stunting merupakan masalah gizi kronis yang pencegahannya harus dilakukan sejak dini sehingga informasi mengenai stunting perlu diberikan kepada remaja untuk mempersiapkan diri menjadi calon orang tua dengan status gizi dan kesehatan yang baik. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk memberikan informasi, meningkatkan pengetahuan, dan pemahaman kepada remaja tentang stunting sebagai salah satu masalah gizi di Indonesia. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan penyuluhan menggunakan metode pemaparan materi dan FGD. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah adanya peningkatan pengetahuan remaja tentang PHBS, isi piringku, dan aktivitas fisik sebagai upaya pencegahan stunting sejak dini. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan pada remaja setelah dilakukan edukasi melalui hasil pre-test dan post-test.
