Abstract

Nyai's Reception at Bumi Manusia (Semiotic Analysis of Cristian Metz Film) This thesis has not been published. Faculty of Business, Law and Social Sciences. Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo. This study aims to find out the content of the written film contains many sets of signs and needs to be understood so that a message conveyed by the film director is right on target. The film Bumi Manusia is the object of this research, there is a Nyai character who lifts the success of this film. Nyai has a certain connotation and stigma, which in the Big Indonesian Dictionary is translated as a call intended for women who are not or are already married. Nyai is the same as concubine. That's what makes researchers intrigued to examine the role of Nyai Ontosoroh in the film Bumi Manusia entitled "Representation of Nyai on Earth of Mankind". The researcher uses a descriptive qualitative method which is then analyzed using the theory of Semiotics. Chistian Metz's film has several syntagmatic types, but in this study only eight types of syntagmatic are used, namely Bracket Syntagma, Sequences, Descriptive Syntagma, Scene, Autonomous Shot, Narrative Syntagma, Episodic Sequence. Then, it is perceived using Gayatri Spivak's theory of Postcolonialism against the Subalterns. Spivak's opinion is that the position of indigenous women is a subaltern group because of the dominance of the male group. Nyai as subalterns are disadvantaged, in terms of honor, self-respect and their right to be a mother.

Abstract

We are currently in the modern era, where the era is all sophisticated, sophisticated and easy. New media or new media are media whose development and progress are accompanied by sophisticated technology. Currently, there are many social media applications that are used by many people. One of them is a social media application, namely video snacks. is a short video-based social media application with various features and video content. In addition to providing these music videos, this application can also give free money to its users. The purpose of this study was to determine user acceptance of video snack applications for video snacks. This study uses a qualitative method, with the reception analysis method, the number of informants using 5 people, with data collection techniques through interviews. The result of this research is the acceptance of 3 informants from 5 informants tend to be in a dominant hegemonic position and 2 people are in a negotiating position.

Abstract

Penelitian dengan judul “Analisis Stiker WhatsApp Sebagai Simbol Dalam Komunikasi Dikalangan Manula”, memiliki rumusan masalah seberapa pengaruhnya Stiker pada WhatsApp untuk berkomunikasi dikalangan manula.iiPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh stiker WhatsApps sebagai simbol dalam komunikasi dikalangan manula.   Analisis penelitian ini menggunakan teori semiotika Charles Sanders Pierce yaitu didasarkan pada logika melalui pemaknaan tanda,  objek dan interpretan,  penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif.   WhatsApp merupakan salah satu aplikasi messenger yang memiliki kemiripan dg aplikasi SMS namun WhatsApp tidak lagi menggunakan pulsa melainkan data internet.  Dengan aplikasi ini kita dapat mengirim pesan teks, gambar/foto, mengirim video, berbagi berkas" tugas atau yg lainnya, menelpon, berbagi lokasi dengan GPS belum lama ini WhatsApp kembali menawarkan fitur baru yakni Stiker Emoticon, fitur baru WhatsApp ini menawarkan stiker dalam mode diam maupun bergerak.   Stiker WhatsApp menjadi media penghidup komunikasi favorit dikalangan manula karena banyak ditawarkannya beragam expresi.   Serta aplikasi WhatsApp sndiri yg terus menawarkan fitur" baru lain yg semakin mempermudah komunikasi.  Aktivitas bersosial melalui WhatsApp kini sudah menjadi gaya hidup bagi para anak muda hingga orang tua.  Tak jarang karena penggunaan WhatsApp yg cukup sering menjadikan WhatsApp seperti kawan keseharian.  Karena kebutuhan komunikasi yg cepat, praktis dan mudah dijangkau/digunakan menjadikan WhatsApp sebagai salah satu aplikasi yg banyak mereka pilih.  Ditambah WhatsApp yg kini telah menambahkan fitur stiker yg menarik membuat WhatsApp semakin banyak diminati dikalangan berbagai usia.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how the form of twitter as a new medium in self-disclosure carried out by teenagers in Sidoarjo. This study used qualitative research methods. For data collection techniques, interviews, observations, and documentation were carried out to adolescents in Sidoarjo aged between 18-22 years. The theory used in this research is the self-disclosure theory from Johari Window. Social media itself is a medium that is very open to many people. In addition, social media is considered as an online story book among teenagers in Sidoarjo. when we feel a sense of comfort and have trusted others, that is what causes self-disclosure to occur. Self-disclosure can also be done through social media. they can do this consciously or not if their activities are too open and can be used as public consumption for social media users, especially on Twitter social media. Another purpose of this research is to find out the extent to which Sidoarjo teenagers are open in self-disclosure through Twitter social media tweets. The results of this study use Twitter as a medium for self-disclosure of Sidoarjo teenagers in the form of their hearts, feelings, emotions, and thoughts at that time. it was done to lighten the burden on theirself.

Abstract

Film is a product of innovation from the media. In the film there are educational values, information, persuasion and entertainment that have meaning for the viewer. Films can also be a means for filmmakers to convey messages in the form of storylines and then turn them into scenes in the narrative. The researcher discusses the analysis of narrative and dialogue in the film "Pretty Boys". this film highlights the behavior of the homeland entertainment industry which places kemayu traits in men, as selling the television industry to boost ratings, in the film also shows behavior that is less prosperous for their talents. This type of research uses a qualitative method of narrative analysis using the actan model proposed by Algirdas Greimas. The characters in the narrative occupy their respective positions and functions which are divided into six actants, namely, sender, subject, object, helper, opponent, receiver. From the results of the analysis above, it can be seen that the structure of the actants in the Pretty Boys film has fulfilled all the stages. The results of the presentation show that the welfare of talent in the entertainment world is greatly sacrificed even though the program rating is already high for the benefit of the television station itself. The results of the analysis also show that Anugerah's character in this film plays an important role in moving the story. Anugerah's character actor always appears in every scene in this film. This shows that the welfare of talent in the entertainment world is being sacrificed even though the program rating is already high for the benefit of television stations. The suggestion that the researcher wants to give about the results of this study is that people do not assume that the entertainment world workers are always happy as shown on television.

Abstract

Gender construction has resulted in comparisons between men and women. The difficulty in distinguishing gender characteristics is due to the long process of socialization and construction. Just like the gentle women, on the other hand, the mighty men, constructed by citizens or biological natures based on God's decree. This construction then gives rise to divisions of work roles between men and women. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research using the semiotic analysis method of Charles S. Peirce. Semiotic analysis of Charles S. Peirce To explain the icon, index and symbol in the ABC Soy Sauce Advertisement version of "ABC soy sauce helps real husbands respect their wives". The results of this study indicate that women are not completely free from their stereotypes. The role of women is always depicted as a figure who only works in the domestic sphere so that the space for movement is very limited.

Abstract

Di era digital membuat segala hal dalam kehidupan menjadi serba digital, hal ini membuat segala aspek kehidupan menjadi lebih efektif dan akan memudahkan para penggunanya. Sebagian besar masyarakat sudah memiliki perangkat telepon genggam dengan berbagai macam kepentingan, mulai dari membaca berita, berbelanja, memesan layanan pesan antar, belajar, media sosial, permainan hingga bertukar pesan. Pada saat ini, salah satu media bertukar pesan yang paling banyak digunakan oleh masyarakat Indonesia adalah Whatsapp. Dikutip dari data Kementrian Komunikasi dan Informatika (Kominfo) berisikan bahwa pengguna internet di Indonesia terdapat 171 juta atau 64,4 persen menggunakan internet, dimana 171 juta warga Indonesia 83 persennya menggunakan Whatsapp. Dari sekian banyak pengguna Whatsapp itu berasal dari berbagai kalangan usia, baik anak-anak, remaja, dewasa hingga lansia. Terlebih media komunikasi yang digunakan untuk bertukar pesan layaknya Whatsapp merupakan media utama bagi sanak keluarga yang terpisah jarak agar tetap dapat saling bersilaturahmi dengan kakek atau neneknya. Namun masalah muncul ketika kemajuan teknologi yang begitu cepat membuat para lansia gagap akan kemajuan tersebut, hal ini menimbulkan beberapa problematika tersendiri. Beberapa hambatan yang dialami lansia dalam menggunakan teknologi khususnya Whatsapp yaitu mulai dari hambatan interpersonal, hambatan struktural dan hambatan fungsional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui problematika penggunaan Whatsapp di kalangan lansia sebagai media bertukar pesan di era digital. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dan adapun teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara mendalam. Peneltian ini menggunakan teori fenomenologi Alfred Schutz, sebagai dasar untuk menganalisa fokus permasalahan yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini.

Abstract

New media consitutes a new era from the media which continues to grow with various function that can be it will facilitate human especially in communicating. Communication was not only done to exchange information, but also as an intermediary in a relationship with other human. Even with the new media, a person can have a partner simply by making communication indirectly through digital platform. And one of them is Tinder, an application that designed to find a perfect partner for its user. It confront users who share the same passion for things they like and facilitates them a private room chat as a medium to get closer to each other. However, not all users end up in a romantic relationship. Therefore, this study will discuss what factors can affect a person's attraction to other people that allow them to establish a relationship. This study uses a netnographic method with a qualitative approach. The results of this study indicate that the main factors that influence a person to want to have a relationship with another person are due to the similarity of personal characteristics and having known or been close to that person before thus enabling them to establish relationships.

Abstract

Film adalah media perantara komunikasi massa yang seringkali digunakan sebagai media untuk mendeskripsikan kehidupan sosial masyarakat. Di era 4.0 industri perfilman semakin berkembang pesat, salah satunya yaitu film yang mengandung unsur satire. Para produsen film berlomba-lomba menyampaikan makna film berupa sindiran kepada para politikus hingga pengusaha melalui perantara satire. Salah satunya yaitu film karya sutradara bong joon ho asal Korea Selatan yang berjudul Okja. Satire yang ditunjukkan di film ini bukan menyinggung soal politik dan pemerintah melainkan melawan kapitalisme pemilik perusahaan daging yang memproduksi babi hasil rekayasa genetika dan berupaya memperoleh laba besar tanpa memperdulikan dampak lingkungan yang terjadi. Peneliti melihat makna dan pesan yang tersembunyi melalui perantara satire yang akan disampaikan dari film Okja, dengan menggunakan teori semiotika John Fiske yang membagi tanda ke dalam tiga level yaitu level realitas, level representasi dan level ideologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif analisis deskriptif. Tujuan penelitian disini yaitu untuk menjelaskan film Okja sebagai media penyampaian kritik sosial budaya kapitalisme melalui perantara satire kepada khalayak luas. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah mengungkapkan pesan film Okja melalui satire untuk memberi kritikan dan sindiran keras kepada pengusaha kapitalis yang serakah dalam mencapai tujuannya.

Abstract

Salah satu platform digital di era Media Baru (New Media) yang paling diminati adalah YouTube. Selain menjadi tempat untuk mengembangkan kreativitas, media sosial YouTube juga menjadi ruang kebebasan berekspresi bagi kelompok minoritas seksual, seperti gay. Penelitian ini berfokus pada realitas kehidupan yang terjadi pada pasangan gay di era Media Baru (New Media), khususnya YouTube. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui bagaimana representasi identitas orientasi seksual gay di YouTube. Pendekatan yang digunakan yakni deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian menggunakan teori analisis semiotik milik Roland Barthes. Hasil penelitian ini adalah  representasi YouTuber gay yang muncul dalam kanal YouTube Max & Yos menggambarkan pesan mengenai cara pasangan gay berekspresi dan menampilkan identitas mereka di media sosial YouTube. Identitas gay sebagai sesama jenis yang telah melangsungkan pernikahan di Amerika ditampilkan secara lugas dalam bentuk video coming out,  digital token berupa teks judul, kalimat yang diungkapkan, gestur, foto profil, adegan romantis, gambar, ikon, dan thumbnail video yang diunggah. Selain itu identitas juga muncul dalam bentuk taste performance yang bisa dilihat dari pemilihan warna di setiap video. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa Max & Yos dalam kanal YouTube pribadinya bebas berekspresi dan menerima identitas seksual gay sebagai bagian dalam diri mereka tanpa mempermasalahkan penolakan atau respon negatif yang diterima di media sosial.   YouTube is one of the most popular digital platforms in the new media era. Besides being a place to develop creativity, YouTube is also a space for freedom of expression for sexual minority groups such as gays. This research focuses on the realities of gay couples' life in the new media era, especially YouTube. This study aims to determine how gay sexual orientation identities are represented on YouTube. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The theory of this research used is Roland Barthes's semiotic analysis. The results of this study are representations of gay YouTubers that appear on the Max & Yos YouTube channel about messages on how gay couples express and present their identities as same-sex couples on YouTube social media. Gay identity as same-sex people who have married in America is displayed straightforwardly in the form of coming-out videos, digital tokens in the title text, spoken sentences, gestures, profile photos, romantic scenes, images, icons, and uploaded video thumbnails. Apart from that, identity also appears in the form of taste performance can be used from the colour selection in each video. It can be concluded that Max & Yos, in their personal YouTube channel, are free to express themselves and accept gay sexual identity as part of themselves without questioning the rejection or negative responses received on social media.
