Abstract

Abstract This development research aims to produce physics interactive learning materials in heat and thermo topic, insightful HOTS (High Order Thinking Skill) that can enhance the literacy science ability of students. The background of this research is the low literacy science ability of senior high school students/MA. The research design used was Nieveen’s research design which consisted of three stages, namely preliminary research, prototyping stage, and assessement stage. The instruments used in this research were validation sheet and literacy science test. The results of expert validation retrieved that physics interactive learning materials insightful HOTS valid constructs and valid content. Based on development test results of the data analysis concluded: (1) the validity of physics interactive learning materials, insightful HOTS was at valid category with an average score of valid constructs was 4.17 and average score of valid content was 4, (2) the effectiveness of physics interactive learning materials in heat and thermo topic, insightful HOTS to improve students’ literacy science skill showed that the average of N-Gain score was 0.59 which was in the medium category, so the physics interactive learning materials in heat and thermo topic, insightful HOTS was effective in improving literacy science skill. Abstract

This research describes the subject of elasticity using the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model with the STEM approach to improve students activeness. This research implemented for XI MIPA 5 class at 2 Jember Senior High School in the 2019/2020 academic year during August until September 2019. Data were collected through observation and interviews. This data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the Project Based Learning model with the STEM (Sains, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) approach could increase of students activeness for XI MIPA 5 class at 2 Jember Senior High School of elasticity material.

Abstract

This article discusses how to find out the level of student creativity in science learning, using the PBL (Problem Based Learning) learning model through the STEM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The goal is to use these learning students who have different thought patterns and levels of creativity can process their thoughts with different outputs on the cognitive domain of students in learning physics in the material elasticity and hooke law in class XI Mipa 3 students at Muhammadiyah 3 High School Jember The data obtained in the form of worksheets (Student Worksheets) and the final product. This type of research uses true experimental research. The instruments needed in this research are test sheets. The results of this study are that using the STEM approach can provide innovative thinking for high school students' creativity in mastering physics learning.

Abstract

Indonesia is an agricultural country so there are still many agricultural environments. One of the implementations of the agricultural sector in education, it’s can be applied to vocational high schools agriculture major. Students learning activities in this major can be integrated with their practical activities in the agricultural sphere, because learning physics will be more attractive to students if the learning activities in the classroom also linked with students daily experience and environment. Within the scope of agriculture, agricultural tools are closely related to the concept of physics, one of which is the hoe. So the purpose of this research is to describe the physics concepts analysis on the use of hoe by farmers, then designed a draft of physics learning materials. This research is descriptive qualitative research using content analysis method to obtain the results that in the use of hoe there are several physics concepts about mechanics including the concept of force, rotational dynamics, work and energy. Then processed into a draft of physics learning materials for students of vocational high school class X in agribusiness and agrotechnology major, by adjusting the relevant basic competencies, namely KD 3.4 on work and energy, and KD 3.6 on rotational dynamics.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to make simulation with Matlab application to calculate the binding energy and disintegration energy of Actinium series based of liquid drop model approach. This research is experimental description. The steps: 1) prepare literature studies of elements in the radioactive process; 2) reviewing some literatures; 3) do calculation simulation; 4) analyze and discuss the results of calculations; 5) conclude the research results. The calculation results show that the binding energy value of the Actinium Series based of liquid drop model approach is in accordance with the theory where the binding energy is directly proportional to the mass and the number of particles, so that the binding energy decreases in linear graph. The largest binding energy owned by 92U235 element is 1786,751 MeV. While the smallest binding energy owned by the 81Tl20 element is 1616,311 MeV. The disintegration energy found in the radioactive actinium series has a positive value, so this is in accordance with the conditions for the occurrence of decay, which is Q> 0. The largest disintegration energy produced from alpha decay by element 91Pa231 is 4.9335 MeV and the smallest binding energy generated from beta decay by the element 90Th231 is 0,0018 MeV. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to calculate the activity, binding energy, and disintegration energy produced by the decay of radioactive substances in the Neptunium series based on the liquid drop core model. The research steps: 1) prepare supporting data for research on activity and binding energy on nuclear stability decay; 2) review the material that has been obtained; 3) perform calculation simulations; 4) analyze and discuss the calculation results; 5) conclude the research results. The conclusion in this study is that the activity value has increased linearly with a range of values ​​from Bq to Bq. The binding energy decreased linearly with values ​​ranging from 1797.4088 MeV to 1627.7112 MeV. Meanwhile, the binding energy of the nucleons increases linearly. The disintegration energy in the Neptunium series has the largest positive value (Q>0) of 5.2712 MeV and the smallest disintegration energy of Radium-225 which is -0.4317 MeV. Abstract

The Problem Based Learning (PBL) model has been applied in Indonesia for a long time. The Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with the approach of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) is new in the world of education. When students are introduced to the new learning model, it will make students have a high curiosity and a great desire to learn. Having a great desire to learn will affect student learning outcomes. Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with the approach of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) is expected to improve student learning outcomes in the cognitive domain. This study aims to describe student learning outcomes using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model which is integrated with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) on the subject of elasticity. This type of research is a true experimental research design with pretest-posttest control-design conducted in class XI MIPA 4. The conclusion of this study is the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with the approach of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) can improve student learning outcomes in the cognitive domain in learning physics in class XI MIPA 4 SMA NEGERI 2 JEMBER.

Abstract

The student's activeness in the learning process is indispensable especially in the application of the curriculum 2013. Physics learning conducted in schools is still centered on teachers using lecture methods, so students tend to be passive, bored, and less enthusiastic in learning. Therefore, a learning model is needed can make students be centers during the learning process. This study aims to examine significant differences in students' cognitive learning outcomes when using the Problem Based Learning model with STEM approaches to Business and Energy materials. This type of research is a quasi-experiment and the research design used is pretest and posttest control-group design. The sample of this study is class X IPA 1 and X IPA 3 at MAN 2 Jember. Data collection of cognitive learning outcomes is obtained through tests. The data analysis conduct using the Independent Sample T-Test or Mann-Whitney U. Based on the results of the research, there was an improvement in cognitive learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class after treatment. However, after being test using Mann-Whitney U showed no significant differences between cognitive learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class. Abstract

This study examines STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) as one approach that is integrated with the project based learning model. This study aims to analyze the mathematical creativity of high school students through the integrated STEM project based learning model in learning physics material elasticity. The research method used was a pre-experimental design with the One Group Post-test Only Design which was carried out in class XI MIPA 6 of SMAN 2 Jember with 36 students consisting of 14 male students and 22 female students formed in 6 heterogeneous groups each - each group consisted of 6 people. Data collection was performed using the final test in the form of analysis of student worksheets and video analysis of student learning processes to measure students' mathematical creativity. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the application of STEM integrated project based learning affected the mathematical creativity of high school students in class XI MIPA 6 of SMAN 2 Jember.

Abstract

Physics learning at this time, show that the students only memorize the formulas without understanded the actual physical meaning, besides that the learning so far seems monotonous and does not attract students' interest and desire to learn. Science learning that is expected now is creative and innovative science learning is science learning that provides experiences related to students' daily lives. The concept of dynamic fluid is a concept that exists in the real world of students, but the object in dynamic fluid material is difficult to present directly in the class, an example of the application of dynamic fluid in everyday life namely the river. Irrigation in the Jenggawah area of Jember Regency is a place to be identified. This research aimed to identify the physical quantities of fluid in the gutter irrigation river in the Jenggawah area of Jember as strengthening the understanding of students' physics concepts. This research included descriptive research. There were two different measurement points, besides the observation of the type of water flow in the irrigation, as well as the average discharge in the river flow of Jenggawah irrigation gutter for one year from the UPT of Jenggawah Regional Water Resources. The results of identification of fluid physical quantities include irrigation width, sterophome path length, sterophome travel time through trajectory, cross-sectional area, flow velocity, discharge, and flow type. Based on research conducted at the UPT of Jenggawah Regional Water Resources in Jember, the water flowed to the irrigation has a different average discharge rate.
