Abstract

This research to describe the learning interests of students of class X MIPA 3 of SMAN 2 Jember on vector material using the Problem Based Learning model with STEM approach. The method used in this study is a survey using a questionnaire. Indicators of learning interest questionnaire include feelings of pleasure, attention, interest, and student participation. The questionnaire has 20 statements that represent indicators of student interest in learning. The questionnaire was distributed to students of SMAN 2 Jember in MIPA 3 class X, with a total of 36 students. The average percentage results obtained for each indicator are feeling happy 72.3% in the "medium" category, 77.5% in the "high" category, 75.2% interest in the "medium" category, and 53.1% student participation in the "low" category. These results indicate that the attention gets the highest percentage while the lowest participation.

Abstract

This study discusses how students think about vector material through PBL (Problem Based Learning) models using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The method used in this study uses qualitative descriptive research. The subjects of this study were students of grade X MIPA 4 SMA Negeri 2 Jember with a total of 35 students. The instruments of collecting data in this study consisted of student worksheets and questionnaires to measure students' creative thinking skills. Student worksheets are provided using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) which have been adapted to the 2013 curriculum that directs students to be actively involved in learning activities. fluency, flexibility, elaboration and originality which contains 6 indicators. The results of the questionnaire data were analyzed based on its indicators, namely for the first indicator getting a percentage of creative thinking skills by 74%, the second indicator by 78%, the third indicator by 74%, the percentage indicator by 69%, the percentage indicator by 74%, and for the sixth indicator by 70% . The number of students who reached the criteria was quite creative there were 33 students with a percentage of 94%. Based on the results of data analysis obtained, students think a high percentage. The PBL (Problem Based Learning) model using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) on vector material has good implications and supports an effective and enjoyable learning process for students.

Abstract

A perspective on STEM education drives the teachers' conceptual for developing a design material in STEM approach. Lack of understanding of STEM education is becoming a challenge to implement STEM approaches in the classroom for the teacher. The purpose of this study was to describe the science teachers' perspective on STEM educational approach after following the professional development in STEM education, which was conducted including in the theoretical of STEM education and implementation in the classroom. This study used a single case method that focused on changing a teacher's attitude on STEM education. The professional development was conducted in a relationship program with the Fulbright specialist in 20 hours for training in STEM education. The result described the interview process between the researcher and the teachers that there was a shift a teachers' perspective more integrated into STEM education. They believe that STEM education can be implemented in Indonesia to address the real-world problems which students experience.

Abstract

Physics is very well known as a difficult science to understand because it contains many complex mathematical formulas and calculations that can affect student learning outcomes and motivation. To overcome this situation, it is necessary to innovate teaching materials, namely with android-based modules. Almost all students now have a smartphone. An android-based physics module was developed to improve student learning outcomes and motivation. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) research using a Nieveen research design which includes 1) preliminary research, 2) the design stage (prototype stage), and 3) the assessment stage. The android-based module was validated by two expert validators who are lecturers of Physics Education at the University of Jember, obtaining the same score of 75 in the valid category. As for the validation results, the user validator, a physics teacher at MA Raudaltul Ulum obtained a score of 92.8 with a very valid category. To find out the increase in student learning outcomes, pre-test and post-test questions were given. The pre-test and post-test results were analyzed using the N-gain test and obtained a score of 0.72 in the high category. Learning motivation is done by distributing questionnaires. The distribution of the questionnaire was carried out after learning using an android-based module.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the effect of Cooperative Integreted Reading And Composition (CIRC) learning model with application problems through the motivation and the student result in learning physics. In learning, motivation is the most basic things, the absence of motivation mean students do not have a goal in the learning process. This resulted in students will not learn and can not accept and understand the subject matter provided. In the end, success in learning will not be achieved. This experimental researchwas conducted at SMAN 2 Tanggul-Jember. The data are collected through test, questionnaire, interview, and documentation. The examination the hypothesisof this research used independent t-test sample with SPSS 22 version. According to t-test analysis for the motivation of student’s, show that the motivation experiment class is better than the control class. The result of t-test analysis for the student result in learning physics show that the student result of experiment class is better than the control class. The conclusion, the learning model of Cooperative Integreted Reading And Composition (CIRC) with application problems has an significance influential to the motivation and learningresult of physics of student the X-Class in SMAN 2 Tanggul-Jember.
