Abstract

Social-emotional learning is an essential aspect of an individual's development. Thisresearch aims to determine the profile of social-emotional learning and differences in social-emotional learning scores based on gender and grade level among junior high school students in Java. This research uses a quantitative approach with a comparative research type. The sample in this study was 2036 junior high school students on the island of Java. The data collection technique in this research used a social-emotional learning scale, which was tested for validity and reliability using the RASCH model. Data analysis techniques were carried out using descriptive statistics and the ANOVA test. The results show that the majority of junior high school students in Java had a high score in social-emotional learning (N=65.4%), and only 0.1% of students categorized indeficient. Students' social-emotional levels were not influenced by gender or grade level. The self-management aspect had the lowest score, and the self-awareness aspect had the highest score in social-emotional learning. It is hoped that the results of this research can provide an overview of the conditions of social-emotional learning in students and become a reference for the development of social-emotional learning program in schools.Guidance and Counseling teachers can improve the lowest aspect of social-emotional learning through various techniques and methods so students can have good social-emotional learning skills in all aspects. Future research needs to explore the factors that influence high levels of SEL in students and expand the research sample to obtain broader generalizations.

Abstract

Abstract

This research was conducted because the academic achievement of students in class V science subjects at SDN Umbulharjo District is still low. The aim of this research is to discuss the reasons why academic achievement can change, one of which can come from the family environment, school environment and home environment and how the learning environment influences the student's academic achievement. The method used in this research is ex post fact. The data collection method is carried out by documenting students' reported grades and using questionnaire items. The population is 214 students. The results of analysis using multiple linear regression show that there is a positive influence of the family, school and community environment on student academic achievement. Furthermore, the effective contribution (SE) test obtained a value of 80.5%, which means the influence of the learning environment on student academic achievement and another 19.5% was influenced by other factors not included in this research.

Abstract

Abstract

This study investigates fifth-grade students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities based on their Adversity Quotient (AQ) types and identifies error patterns across Polya’s problem-solving stages. Employing a descriptive qualitative design, the research was conducted at Keputran 2 Elementary School, Yogyakarta, involving 24 purposively selected students. Data were obtained through the Adversity Response Profile (ARP) questionnaire and a mathematical problem-solving test. The AQ results categorized students into four climbers, seven campers, and thirteen quitters. One student from each AQ type was further analyzed through their written responses. Findings revealed that climber-type students successfully completed all stages of Polya’s framework, demonstrating perseverance and accuracy yet showing limited reflective evaluation. Camper-type students completed all stages inconsistently, particularly in verifying their results. Quitter-type students were unable to complete the stages, displaying conceptual and procedural misconceptions. The study concludes that differentiated instructional strategies are essential: quitters benefit from contextualized tasks and extrinsic motivation; campers require scaffolded feedback; and climbers need challenging problems to foster deeper reflection. These insights emphasize the pedagogical importance of integrating AQ-based differentiation to enhance mathematical problem-solving competence among elementary students.

Abstract

The recent statistic suggests the average psychological well-being of Indonesian citizens, including the pre-service training teacher, represents their capacity to overcome future challenges. Excellent psychological well-being is crucial for pre-service training teachers, especially for providing a comfortable learning situation for students and engaging in effective communication with students. This study investigates the psychological well-being of pre-service training teachers. Thus, this study adopted survey techniques with descriptive data analysis. The data were collected from 44 teachers selected by purposive sampling. The criteria for selecting research participants were currently taking pre-service teacher education, elementary school teachers, and willingness to participate in this study. Data were collected using a psychological well-being scale. The results of the analysis showed high and exceedingly high psychological well-being of pre-service training teachers. However, the majority of participants had low scores in the aspect of improving self-quality over time, and some of them presented remarkably low scores
