Abstract

Abstract: The central goal of this research was to characterize the mental models of optical instruments expressed by students. The subject of this study were 35 students of class XI in SMA Negeri 1 Badegan. Mixed method embedded experimental model was conducted to probe the participant’s model mental. Data obtained through interviews and tests. The results reveal that the participants held five categories of mental models of optical instrument. The development of student’s model mental indicated by nearly half held a scientifically compatible model mental during and after studying Physics with Experiential Learning. Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui model mental siswa SMA pada materi alat optik. Subjek penelitian adalah 35 siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Badegan. Penelitian menggunakan metode Mixed method embedded experimental model. Data diperoleh melalui tes dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat lima kategori model mental. Perubahan model mental siswa ditunjukkan dengan hampir setengah siswa di dalam kelas memiliki model mental yang sesuai dengan saintifik selama dan setelah pembelajaran Experiential Learning dilakukan.

Abstract

Scientific reasoning pattern and problem solving ability has an important role in learning physics which associate multiple concept. The study was conducted to describe the change in the pattern category reasoning, problem solving ability level synthesis of physics, and investigate the relationship between the pattern of scientific reasoning and problem solving abilities synthesis of physics students. This study uses a mixed method embedded experimental design. The research instrument used is the treatment and measurement instruments. Changes in the student category intuitive reasoning patterns influenced by the knowledge and experience of students in daily life. Student’s Problem solving ability level of synthesis problem at most are novice level. Novice student solve the problem without recognizing the concept and have a tendency to plug and chug limited to the equation they remembered. The pattern of scientific reasoning and problem solving abilities synthesis of physics has a positive relation.Pola penalaran ilmiah dan kemampuan penyelesaian masalah memiliki peranan penting dalam pembelajaran fisika yang mengaitkan lebih dari satu konsep. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mendeskripsikan perubahan kategori pola penalaran, tingkat kemampuan penyelesaian masalah sintesis fisika, dan mengetahui hubungan antara pola penalaran ilmiah dan kemampuan penyelesaian masalah sintesis fisika siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan embedded mixed method desain experimental model. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah instrumen perlakuan dan pengukuran. Perubahan kategori pola penalaran intuisi siswa dipengaruhi oleh pengetahuan dan pengalaman siswa di lingkungan. Tingkat kemampuan penyelesaian masalah sintesis fisika siswa paling banyak adalah novice. Siswa novice menyelesaikan masalah tanpa mengenali konsep dan memiliki kecenderungan plug dan chug sebatas persamaan yang mereka ingat. Pola penalaran ilmiah dan kemampuan penyelesaian masalah sintesis fisika memiliki hubungan yang positif.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to examine the effect of cooperative learning models Quiz-Quiz Trade and peer assessment to social skill student. This study used quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group design that measured by a skill questionnaire with a Likert scale and analyzed using anacova test. The result showed the quiz-quiz trade learning model and peer assessment were able to develop student’s social skills. The anacova test showed the significance value 0.00 <0.05, so that model quiz-quiz trade and peer assessment could be improved students' social skills.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keterampilan sosial siswa dnegan menggunakan model pembelajaran quiz-quiz trade dan peer assessment.  Penelitian ini menggunakan quasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design dengan analisis menggunakan uji Anacova. Instrumen menggunakan angket keterampilan dengan skala likert. Temuan dari penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa model pembelajaran quiz-quiz trade dan peer assessment mampu mengembangkan keterampilan sosial siswa. Data hasil uji anacova menyatakan bahwa nilai signifikansi adalah 0,00<0,05 sehingga diambil kesimpulan bahwa ada pengaruh model quiz-quiz trade dan peer assessment dalam meningkatkan keterampilan sosial siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to increase the students’ comprehension of the concept of hydrostatic pressure and the law of Archimedes through discovery learning. The subjects of the study were VIII-A SMPK Citra Bangsa Kupang, Province of East Nusa Tenggara in the academic year 2016/2017. The data of this study consisted of quantitative and qualitative data. The instruments used in the study were pretest and posttest in the form of reasoned  multiple choice. The result of data analysis of concept comprehension showed that the posttest average score was 83.33 and it was greater than the pretest score that achieved  46.66. The calculation of d-effect size was 2.73 (very high category) and N-gain was 0.69 (medium category). Thus, it is concluded that the discovery learning model has a positive impact on the improvement of concept comprehension.Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman konsep tekanan hidrostatis dan hokum Archimedes siswa melalui pembelajaran discovery. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIIIA SMPK Citra Bangsa Kupang, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur tahun pelajaran 2016/2017. Data penelitian terdiri atas data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu pretes dan postes dalam bentuk pilihan ganda beralasan. Hasil analisis data pemahaman konsep menunjukkan bahwa skor rata-rata postes 83,33 lebih besar daripada skor rata-rata pretes 46,66. Perhitungan d-effect size sebesar 2,73 (kategori sangat tinggi) dan N-gain sebesar 0,69 (kategori sedang). Maka, disimpulkan bahwa model discovery learning memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan pemahaman konsep.

Abstract

Abstract: Scientific literacy is one of the basic skills that must be possessed in the XXI century. The 2015 PISA results show that scientific, mathematical, and reading literacy in Indonesian students is ranked 64th out of 72 countries and it is still relatively low. In the process of learning physics students are very weak in applying physics concepts learned because learning is less stressed on problem solving. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of students 'problem solving abilities in inquiry-based authentic learning in the STEM program on students' scientific literacy. This study was a quasi-experimental study using a 2x2 factorial design. Data collection was carried out by tests conducted before and after the study in the experimental class and the control class. Test results data were analyzed by different tests. The results showed that scientific literacy of students who have high problem-solving skills is higher when learning with authentic inquiry-based learning approaches in STEM programs than conventional, while scientific literacy of students who have low problem-solving abilities is higher when learning with authentic inquiry-based learning approaches in STEM programs rather than conventional.Abstrak: Literasi saintifik merupakan salah satu keterampilan dasar di abad XXI yang harus dimiliki peserta didik. Pada proses pembelajaran fisika, peserta didik sangat lemah dalam mengaplikasikan konsep fisika yang dipelajari karena pembelajaran kurang menekankan pada pemecahan masalah. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik dalam pembelajaran authentic learning berbasis inquiry dalam program STEM pada literasi saintifik peserta didik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperiment dengan menggunakan rancangan penelitian faktorial 2x2. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes yang dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah penelitian pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Data hasil tes dianalisis dengan uji lanjut Tukey. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan literasi sainstifik peserta didik yang memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah tinggi, lebih tinggi jika belajar dengan pendekatan authentic learning berbasis inquiry dalam program STEM daripada yang belajar dengan cara konvensional dan sedangkan literasi saintifik peserta didik yang memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah rendah, lebih tinggi jika belajar dengan pendekatan authentic learning berbasis inquiry dalam program STEM daripada yang belajar dengan cara konvensional.

Abstract

Abstract: This research examines the effect of the STEM-EFA integrated ADI model for improving students' scientific reasoning skills. The research was conducted in class XI of SMAN 8 Malang with 27 students participating. Learning is carried out by emphasizing practical activities, doing arguments, and making simple stove prototypes. The student’s enhancement of scientific reasoning skills was measured from the results of the pretest and posttest using two-tier questions. The analysis showed that there was a significant increase with p = 0.000. These results indicate that the STEM-EFA integrated ADI model influences increasing scientific reasoning skills. The N-Gain calculation of 0.34 indicates that the category of increasing students' scientific reasoning skills is classified as moderate.Abstrak: Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh model ADI terintegrasi STEM-EFA terhadap peningkatan kemampuan scientific reasoning skills siswa. Penelitian dilakukan di kelas XI SMAN 8 Malang dengan jumlah partisipan 27 siswa. Pembelajaran dilakukan dengan menekankan pada kegiatan praktikum, argumentasi, dan pembuatan prototipe kompor sederhana. Peningkatan kemampuan scientific reasoning skills siswa diukur dari hasil pretest dan posttest menggunakan soal two-tier. Analisis menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan dengan p = 0,000. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa model ADI terintegrasi STEM-EFA memberikan pengaruh terhadap peningkatan scientific reasoning skills. Perhitungan N-Gain sebesar 0,34 menunjukkan bahwa kategori peningkatan kemampuan scientific reasoning skills siswa tergolong sedang.

Abstract

Abstract: Concept mastery is the ability to understand concepts theoretically and apply the concept to solve a problem. Dynamic fluid is a material that is difficult for students to understand because of the complexity of the underlying physical concepts that lead to concept mastery of student dynamic fluid low. This study aims to determine the effect of STEM-based learning problems on mastery of student concepts in dynamic fluid materials. This research method is Mixed Methods Embedded Experimental Design. The subjects consisted of 27 students of SMA Negeri 3 Batu. Data were collected through pretest and posttest using tests, questionnaires and interviews. Quantitative data analysis using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, Normalized Gain Score, and Effect Size. Qualitative data analysis using Coding, Data Reduction, Data Display, and Conclusion Drawing/ Verification. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test results obtained by Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 <0.005. Normalized Gain Score calculation results obtained value of 0.58 (medium). Effect Size calculation results are worth 1.44 (strong). The results showed that there is an effect of STEM-based learning problems on mastery of student concepts in dynamic fluid materials.Abstrak: Penguasaan konsep merupakan kemampuan untuk memahami konsep secara teoritis dan menerapkan konsep tersebut untuk memecahkan suatu permasalahan. Fluida dinamis adalah materi yang sulit dipahami siswa karena kompleksitas konsep fisika yang mendasarinya sehingga menyebabkan penguasaan konsep fluida dinamis siswa rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran STEM berbasis masalah terhadap penguasaan konsep siswa dalam materi fluida dinamis. Metode penelitian ini adalah Mixed Methods Embedded Experimental Design. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 27 siswa SMA Negeri 3 Batu. Data dikumpulkan melalui pretest dan posttest menggunakan tes, kuesioner, dan wawancara. Analisis data secara kuantitatif menggunakan Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, Normalized Gain Score, dan Effect Size. Analisis data secara kualitatif menggunakan Coding, Data Reduction, Data Display, dan Conclusion Drawing/Verification. Hasil perhitungan Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test diperoleh nilai Asymp.Sig.(2-tailed) sebesar 0,000 < 0,005. Hasil perhitungan Normalized Gain Score diperoleh nilai 0,58 (sedang). Hasil perhitungan Effect Size bernilai 1,44 (kuat). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pembelajaran STEM berbasis masalah terhadap penguasaan konsep siswa dalam materi fluida dinamis.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to explore students’ conceptual understanding of static fluid in STEM with e-formative assessment learning. The study uses embedded experimental design methods. It involved 30 students of XI grade high school in Sidoarjo. The pretest and posttest instruments consisted of 10 reasoning multiple chooise questions with reliability is 0.629. Wilcoxon test results is p = .000 with an average posttest higher than pretest shows that there is significant difference between students' conceptual understanding of before and after learning. The effect size value is 0.88. Students’ conceptual understanding of each indicator is also discussed.Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi fluida statis dalam pembelajaran STEM disertai e-formative assessment. Penelitian menggunakan mixed method desain embedded experimental. Penelitian melibatkan 30 siswa kelas XI SMA di Sidoarjo. Instrumen pretest dan posttest berupa 10 soal penguasaan konsep pilihan ganda disertai alasan dengan reliabilitas 0,629. Hasil uji Wilcoxon sebesar p=.000 dengan rata-rata posttest lebih tinggi daripada pretest menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara penguasaan konsep siswa sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran. Nilai effect size sebesar 0,88 menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran STEM disertai e-formative assessment berpengaruh sedang terhadap penguasaan konsep. Penguasaan konsep siswa setiap indikator juga akan dibahas.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to examine the effect of experiential learning model on mental model category of students. The method used mixed method design of embedded experimental model with quantitative and qualitative approach. The subject of class XI IPA-A (n = 30) in SMAN 3 Malang. The data collection using the instrument is 9 essay questions. The data were analyzed using effect size and N-gain. Obtained results with mental model category of surface, matching, and deep type. The result shows that the influence of experiential learning model on student's mental model is strong with the effect size value obtained 3.81. As for the mental model changes the students are moderate because the N-Gain value is 0.53.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan mempelajari pengaruh model pembelajaran experiential learning terhadap kategori model mental siswa. Metode yang digunakan mixed method desain embedded experimental model dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Subjek kelas XI IPA-A (n=30) di SMAN 3 Malang. Pengambilan data menggunakan instrumen berupa sembilan soal essay. Hasil data dianalisis menggunakan effect size dan N-gain. Diperoleh hasil dengan kategori model mental tipe surface, matching, dan deep. Hasil didapatkan besar pengaruh model experiential learning terhadap model mental siswa adalah kuat dengan nilai effect size yang didapatkan 3,81.  Untuk perubahan model mental siswa adalah sedang karena nilai N-Gain 0,53.

Abstract

Abstract: Physics learning need to train ability that scientists can apply in developing knowledge, that is scientific argumentation ability. Scientific argumentation ability is very important in preparing students who are literate in science. Unfortunately founded in field scientific argumentation ability students still low. Scientific argumentation ability students mean in first level (unsupported) and second level (phenomenological). Validity of conceptual scintific argumentation students mean in first level (invalid).Abstrak: Pembelajaran fisika perlu melatihkan kemampuan yang bisa diterapkan ilmuwan dalam mengembangkan pengetahuan salah satunya adalah kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah. Kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah sangat penting dalam mempersiapkan siswa yang berliterasi sains. Namun, ditemukan di lapangan bahwa kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa masih tergolong rendah. Kualitas argumentasi ilmiah siswa rata-rata pada level 1 (unsupported) dan level 2 (phenomenological). Validitas konseptual argumentasi ilmiah siswa rata-rata pada level 1 (invalid).
