Abstract

The study aims to determine the validity and reliability of the Coping Strategy instrument so that it can be used to explore how adolescents cope with stress in their lives. A total of 100 students of class XI participated in this study. Subjects came from SMA Muhammadiyah 4, SMA Muhammadiyah 5, and SMA Muhammadiyah 6 in the city of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The sampling technique used to obtain research subjects is stratified sampling. The Coping Strategy instrument proposed in this study is in the form of a scale with a Likert model consisting of 9 items with seven alternative answers. The item arrangement refers to the Coping Strategy aspect, which consists of problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping. The empirical data that has been collected is then analyzed using the Smart PLS 3.28 program using the Second Order Confirmatory Factor Analysis approach. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the aspects and indicators that make up the Coping Strategy construct in this study are declared valid and reliable. The most dominant aspect in reflecting on Coping Strategy is problem-focused coping. The results of the study indicate that the development of the Coping Strategy instrument in adolescents in this study is acceptable because the theory that describes Coping Strategy is in accordance with empirical data obtained from the subject. The results of this study can be used by guidance and counseling teachers or counselors to explore strategies / ways for adolescents to deal with stress using the Coping Strategy instrument.

Abstract

Science education in elementary schools often encounters challenges related to technological accessibility, particularly when integrating digital tools such as Quizizz for assessment. Institutional policies, including restrictions on mobile phone usage, are typically implemented to maintain student concentration and prevent technological distractions. While shifting students' mindset toward new learning methods can be challenging, school support can foster a high-quality learning environment that benefits all students. This study aims to explore the implementation and impact of the Quizizz game on students' anxiety levels during elementary science evaluations. Using a quantitative quasi-experimental design with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group approach, data were collected through questionnaires involving all 43 sixth-grade students. The results indicate that the use of Quizizz as a learning evaluation tool significantly improved student engagement in the experimental group. Overall, 52% of the experimental group fell into the "Moderate" anxiety category, compared to 73% in the control group. The analysis also revealed a significant difference in anxiety levels between the two groups, demonstrating that Quizizz effectively reduces student anxiety during evaluations. These findings highlight the potential of Quizizz as an innovative tool to enhance learning experiences and lower anxiety in classroom assessments.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an influence of father involvement on the responsible attitudes of children aged 5–6 years. Using a correlational quantitative approach, 96 fathers were randomly selected from a population of 429 fathers in Medan Tuntungan District. The instruments used were a father involvement questionnaire based on Pleck's theory (2010) and a child responsibility attitude questionnaire from Harris & Bean (2001). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression techniques, which revealed a significant relationship between father involvement and children's sense of responsibility, with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.737 and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.544. This indicates that father involvement contributes 54.4% to the development of children's sense of responsibility at an early age. These findings emphasize the importance of the father's role, not only physically but also emotionally, in parenting. The researchers recommend educational programs and systematic support for fathers to better understand their role in fostering children's responsibility from an early age. Such support can contribute to more optimal social-emotional development in children.

Abstract

Coping strategies help manage stress in challenging social contexts, especially for adolescents facing unique developmental challenges. Their effectiveness depends on context, individual traits, social responses, and sociocultural factors. This study aimed to examine the model of adolescents’ coping strategies in the social context, viewed from the peer interaction in school, affected by adolescents’ self-esteem. 530 senior high school students were involved as participants. There were 245 male students and 285 female students aged between 15 and 18 years old (M= 16.52, SD=0.673) in five schools in Bantul. Coping strategy, peer interaction, and self-esteem scales were developed to collect data. Data were analysed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The model exhibited a good fit and showed that adolescents’ coping strategies were affected by self-esteem and mediated by peer interaction. This study demonstrated the significant effect of self-esteem on peer interactions among adolescents. Adolescents may possess a good coping strategy when having good peer interaction and self-esteem. Further findings indicate that most participants’ problem-focused and emotion-focused coping strategies, peer interaction, and self-esteem were categorized as the low and high category. However, the low category of each variable needs to be considered
