Abstract

The infectious of ectoparasites has a harmful impact to mangrove crabs. This study aimed to know ectoparasites that infected mangrove crabs and determine the prevalence of ectoparasites that attack mud crabs. 10 crabs / pond were randomly taken from two pounds. Identification of Crab was conducted in Laboratory of Water Resource Management, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara. Parasite were observed in walking foot, swimming foot, claws, carapaks and gill of the crab. The result showed that 4 ectoparasites i.e Vorticella, Epistylis, Zoothamnium and Octolasmis were found from crabs of two ponds. Vorticella, Epistylis, and Octolasmis of Bagan Percut Ujung showed a relative high prevalence of 50%, while Octolasmis of Tangkahan Lagan Showed high Prevalence of 30%.Keywords: Ectoparasit, Mangrove Crab, Prevalence

Abstract

Silvofishery based mangrove ecosystem based resource management has been alreadywidely known and practiced, both at home and abroad. However, until now it’s difficultto find silvofishery application with correct and proper principles, in terms of bioengineering, ecological and institutional. The researched was conducted on March2012. The aims of this study were (1) assess the ecological status, (2) assess fishaquaculture bioengineering, (3) economic and financial analysis for the silvofisheryapplication, and (4) determine the pattern of silvofishery management in RPH TegalTangkil.Collected data were related to ecological, economic, social and institutionalaspect, which related to silvofishery management in RPH Tegal-Tangkil. The researchshowed that, mangroves contribute significantly to the daily shrimp by product. Waterquality conditions currently were still suitable for fish aquaculture activities. Althoughthere were discovered heavy metals content in this area, there for it is necessary toimprove water quality by develop reservoir system. In terms of bioengineering, fishermanwere still culture fish by traditionally technique and not done with correct and properprinciples. Economically silvofishery system was still able to develop for increasefishermans incomes. If silvofisheries were applied properly, it can increase fishermanincome up to 509.60%. However, silvofishery management was still deficient; It is seenfrom the difference between the ideal and reality. Institutional improvement minawanamanagement system at least focus on the improvement of the organization and rules ofthe game.

Abstract

Differences in drugs consumption time may affect its absorption and metabolism in the bodywhich could lead to differences in its efficacy. For hypertension patients, one of the mostfrequently used drugs for lowering blood is captopril. However, information regarding theinfluence of consumption time on captopril efficacy was limited. Therefore, this study wasconducted to compare the efficacy of captopril in lowering blood pressure when administeredbefore and after meal. This was an experimental study with two treatment groups, conducted at Dr. Soedarso General Hospital, Pontianak, Indonesia, during April-June 2015.Statistical analysis was performed using Mann-Whitney, Exact-Fisher, and T-test. We foundout that the reduction of systolic blood pressure in group who consumed captopril beforeand after meal was 30 mmHg and 25 mmHg, respectively (p<0.05). The similar reduction indiastolic bloos pressure was observed in both groups (10 mmHg, p>0.05). In conclusion, itis recommended to take captopril on an empty stomach since it showed better efficacy whenadministered before meal compared to after meal consumption. Keywords: hypertension, captopril, absorption

Abstract

Drug related problems (DRPs) are problems encountered often in the treatment of patients and can affect the decline of quality of life but increase disease morbidity and mortality on the other hand. From a review of 10 journals, it was found that untreated indication, adverse drug reaction, non-compliance/non-adherence, drug choice problem, dosing problem, drugs interaction, drug without indication, and drug use problem were the most common DRP experienced by type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Pharmacists can effectively intervene in DRP through identification and prevention and physicians accept and act on these interventions. Pharmacists in their intervention on DRPs play an influential role at the prescriber level. Pharmacist intervention can also take place at both patient and drug levels. Pharmacist intervention is also capable of controlling the parameters of an objective examination to be better (lipids, blood pressure, blood sugar, etc.). Therefore, collaboration between pharmacists and other health workers needs to be pursued because it can affect the success in handling DRPs.

Abstract

Abstract

The remaining bagasse waste from sugarcane and plastic waste, which increases annually, has had an adverse impact on the environment, both on land and in the sea. In 2010 alone, 275 million tons of plastic waste were generated worldwide. Approximately 4.8 to 12.7 million tons of that waste were discarded, polluting the oceans. Indonesia, with a coastal population of 187.2 million, produces 3.22 million tons of poorly managed plastic waste annually. An estimated 0.48 to 1.29 million tons of this plastic waste is believed to contaminate the oceans.According to Ir. Rudy Setyo Utomo, M.Sc. (a researcher at the Research and Development Agency of West Kalimantan Province), from the total accumulated waste in Pontianak City, it is estimated that 66% consists of organic waste, roughly around 265 tons per day, while 34% is inorganic waste, approximately 135 tons per day. Organic waste comprises food remains, wood, branches and leaves, paper, and cardboard. The waste from bagasse ash contains a high silica (SiO2) content of around 68.5%, which can be utilized in asphalt mixtures to enhance their quality. In addition to utilizing bagasse ash waste, the writer also incorporates plastic bag waste as a substitute in the asphalt mixture. According to research, Indonesia ranks second in the world for the largest amount of plastic waste, following China. This study aims to create 18 asphalt mixture samples using bagasse waste and plastic waste. The outcomes of this research will be used to produce a related research journal.
