Abstract

This study examines the effect of land area and income sources of agricultural households on their income in the context of reducing poverty in the agricultural sector. This study uses a quantitative approach and multiple regression methods as an analytical tool with data from the Agricultural Business Household Income Survey which is part of the 2013 Agricultural Census of West Sumatra Province. The data used in this study is cross-sectional data with total agricultural household income as the dependent variable and the amount of land owned by agricultural households, the area of land controlled and cultivated by agricultural households, the percentage of agricultural household income from agricultural sector businesses, the percentage of agricultural household income from non-agricultural businesses, the percentage of other agricultural household income , the percentage of agricultural household income from wages in the agricultural sector, and the percentage of agricultural household income non-agricultural wage income. The results showed that the variable area of land owned and the area of land controlled and cultivated by agricultural households had a positive effect on their total income. Other variables that have a positive effect on total agricultural household income are the percentage of income from non-agricultural businesses and the percentage of non-agricultural wage income. On the other hand, the percentage of agricultural household income from agricultural sector businesses and the percentage of agricultural household income from wages in the agricultural sector have a negative effect on their total income. The results of this study suggest the need for redistribution of land to land-poor agricultural households and encourage them to diversify their business outside the agricultural sector but still based on agricultural products.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the impact of child protection education on increasing parents' and teachers' knowledge of child abuse. The problem addressed is the low level of understanding among parents and teachers regarding child protection concepts, which affects the lack of preventive actions against child abuse in family and school environments. The method used was an experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach involving 40 participants, including parents and teachers. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring participants' knowledge before and after the educational intervention. The pretest results showed that participants' knowledge was in the low category (50.13%). After the education program, the posttest results increased to 88.67%, indicating a high category. These findings suggest that education successfully enhances understanding of child protection, covering children's rights and responsibilities, community roles, and related legal procedures. The conclusion is that child protection education programs are effective in raising awareness and knowledge among parents and teachers, thus promoting a safer and more supportive environment for children's development.

Abstract

Subjective well-being is shaped not only by economic conditions but also by a sense of happiness in this life and hope for the hereafter. This perspective suggests that a nation's progress should be viewed beyond economic growth alone. Maqashid Sharia, the five essential objectives in Islamic teachings, provides a framework that guides individuals toward a more holistic and meaningful well-being. This study aims to explore how Maqashid Sharia contributes to the subjective well-being of Muslim individuals in Indonesia. Using a quantitative approach, the analysis draws on data from the 2014 Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) V, focusing on Muslim respondents aged over 18. Logistic regression is employed to assess the influence of five dimensions of Maqashid Sharia, protection of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and wealth on happiness. A few examples of control variables are sex, age, and place of residence.  The findings demonstrate that each of the five facets of Maqashid Sharia has a significant and positive influence on the Muslims' subjective well-being in Indonesia. Those who are religious, healthy, well-educated, married, and employed tend to experience greater well-being. The well-being of women and younger generations is also higher, although residency does not appear to be a significant role. These results highlight the significance of measures that increase access to religious homes, healthcare, education, work, and marital readiness. putting the principles of maqashid sharia into practice in order to ensure the prosperity and well-being of Indonesian Muslims and to accomplish fair and significant agreements between economic reality and religious identity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the critical success factors of Public-Private Partnership projects in the provision of Public Street Lighting infrastructure through a comparative case study in Dharmasraya and Sijunjung Regencies, West Sumatra Province. The research method employed is causal-comparative with a quantitative approach, utilizing questionnaires, interviews, and documentation involving stakeholders in the PPP projects. Data analysis was conducted using a paired t-test to examine differences in perceptions between the two regencies across 18 success factor variables. The results show that Dharmasraya Regency demonstrated a higher level of success in implementing the PPP PJU project compared to Sijunjung, particularly in aspects such as government commitment, political support, accountability, delegation of authority, and public support. Meanwhile, several factors such as lighting efficiency, clarity of cooperation agreements, and project feasibility did not show significant differences between the regions. These findings highlight the importance of institutional, social, and political support in ensuring the success of PPP projects at the local level. The study recommends enhancing the capacity of PPP project teams and strengthening budgetary commitments in each region as strategic steps to improve the effectiveness of similar future projects.

Abstract

This study analyzes wage differentials between vocational high school graduates in Indonesia who work in jobs aligned with their field of training and those who work outside their field, using data from the 2024 National Labor Force Survey. The analytical methods include the Heckman two-step selection model to correct for labor force participation bias, separate OLS regressions for each group, and the Blinder-Oaxaca decomposition to identify the sources of wage disparities. The results show that horizontal mismatch has significant implications for wage structures. Although the average wage difference between matched and mismatched groups is not statistically significant, the decomposition analysis reveals that most of the wage gap arises from differences in observable characteristics, along with a significant influence of unobserved factors (unexplained). These findings suggest that vocational mismatch affects not only labor market efficiency but also wage distribution, which should be taken into account in vocational education and employment policy design.
