Abstract

High quality protein feedstuff prices for poultry are more expensive due to rising prices of imported raw materials, such as fish meal and meat bone meal (MBM). Utilization of an alternative source of protein that is abundant and does not compete with food needs, becomes one of the promising solutions to optimize production efficiency. This research will evaluate the potential utilization of black soldier fly (BSF) deffated larva mal as alternative source of MBM protein in quail feed on quail production performance by using method of decreasing fat (defatting) with emphasis (pressing). Female quail 5 weeks old as many as 285 birds. Quails devided in 3 treatments and 5 replications of each 19 tails. The experimental design used in this study was a complete randomized design (CRD). The feed applied was as follows: (P1) control feed, (P2) Feed with content 50% BSF (P3) feed with 100% BSF. The results of the study 50% and 100% subtitution of BSF deffated larva meal not significantly affected on egg production evidenced by no disruption of the production of eggs and raised 5.82% (P2) and 6.13% (P3) to feed control so that it can be concluded that deffated BSF meal alternative can be used as a substitute for MBM quail in feed. Abstract

Cassava has the potential use to replace corn as an energy source in poultry feed. However, the level of substitution is not optimal because of the difference ratio of amylose and amylopectin in maize and cassava. This study aimed to examine the effect of cassava flour with addition of isoamylase as a corn substitute in the ration on the performance of broilers. The material used in this study was 150 male day-old chicken broiler which were randomly divided into 3 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were P0: 50% corn in the ration (control); P1: Substitution of 50% of corn by cassava flour; P2: Substitution of 50% of corn by cassava flour which contained 0.14% isoamylase. The variables measured were feed intake, body weight, weight gain, feed conversion ratio, income over feed and chick cost and mortality rate. Data from the complete randomized design were analyzed using Analysis of Variance, the significant results between the treatments were obtained by Duncan Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the substitution of corn by cassava flour without and with 0.14% isoamylase was not significantly affect final body weight, body weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion ratio. The most profitable Income over feed cost obtained was the treatment of P2 that is Rp 6,543.50. It can be concluded that the corn substitution by cassava flour without and with addition of 0.14% isoamylase was able to produce the same performance as broiler chickens fed with corn in the ration for five weeks of the study. Abstract

Many classification algorithms are in the form of image pattern recognition; the approach to the complexity of the problem should be a feature of feasibility for representing images. The morphology of dairy cows greatly affects their health and milk production. The paper will apply several classification methods based on the morphology of Holstein Friesian dairy cows. To improve the accuracy of the model used, the segmentation process is the right step. In this paper, we compare several machine learning algorithms to get optimal accuracy. The algorithm used a support vector machine (SVM), artificial neural networks, random forests and logistic regression. Segmentation methods used are mask region-based convolutional neural network (R-CNN) and Canny; optimal accuracy is expected to create intelligent applications. The success of the method is measured with accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 Score, as well as testing by conducting a training-testing ratio of 90:10 and 80:20. This study discovered an artificial neural network optimal model with Canny with an accuracy of 82.50%, precision of 87.00%, recall of 79.00%, F1-score of 81.62%, and testing ratio of 90:10. While the models with the highest 80:20 ratio achieved 84.39% accuracy, 88.46% precision, 80.47%, and 83.00% F1-score with mask R-CNN with logistic regression.

Abstract

Computer vision deals with image-based problems, such as deep learning, classification, and object detection. This study classifies the quality of dairy parents into three, namely high, medium, and low based on morphology by focusing on Bogor Indonesia farms. The morphological images used are the side and back of dairy cows and the challenge is to determine the optimal accuracy of the model for it to be implemented into an automated system. The 2-step mask region-based convolutional neural network (mask R-CNN) and Canny segmentation algorithm were continuously used to classify the convolutional neural network (CNN) in order to obtain optimal accuracy. When testing the model using training and testing ratios of 90:10 and 80:20, it was evaluated in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. The results showed that the highest model produced an accuracy of 85.44%, 87.12% precision, 83.79% recall, and 84.94% F1-score. Therefore, it was concluded that the test result with 2-stages of segmentation was the best.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effects of dietary nitrate addition on performance, methane emission, nutrient utilization, and the nitrate toxicity of ruminants by using the meta-analysis methodology from in vivo trials. A total of 38 published papers and 139 studies were used. Parameters observed were feed intake, animal performance, enteric methane emission, and nitrate toxicity. Data were subjected to the mixed model methodology. Nitrate doses or forms were treated as fixed factors, while the different studies were treated as random factors. Results revealed that nitrate supplementation significantly decreased the milk protein content, milk fat content, dry matter intake, gross energy intake, the molar proportion of the propionic acid, methane production, and the metabolism of vitamin A in a linear pattern (p<0.05). Moreover, nitrate addition significantly increased nitrate intake, the molar proportion of the acetic acid, the ratio of acetic acid to propionic acid, hydrogen molecule production, microbial protein synthesis, and nitrite blood levels (p<0.05). However, treatments did not affect the milk yield, final body weight, nitrate retention, and blood methemoglobin. There was a significant interaction among the animal types and the nitrate (forms and doses) on the milk protein content, dry matter intake, rumen pH value, total volatile fatty acids, the molar proportion of propionic acid, NH3 concentration, H2 molecule, microbial protein synthesis, metabolism of vitamin A, and the blood methemoglobin. This concludes that nitrate supplementation is an alternative feed additive for mitigating the enteric methane in ruminants without any adverse effects on animals’ health or performance despite its impact on the feed consumption rate.

Abstract

The aims of this experiment were to  identify and characterize of sediment product from cattle rumen liquor as a source of amino acids, minerals and vitamins. The sediment were obtained as pellets upon centrifugation of rumen liquor at 10,000 g for 10 minutes for collection of supernatant. The sediment were evaluated for amino acids, minerals and vitamins composition and chararacterized for the pH,  solubility of dry matter, specific density, bulk and compacted bulk densities and angle of response. Result of the experiment showed that sediment contained higher minerals:  Na, K and Fe compared with the commercial premix, but lower in B-vitamins and amino acids. The composition of mineral Na, K, and Fe from rumen liquor of local cattle was 13.47%, 7.73 % and 14.52 %,  while Na, K, and Fe from  rumen liquor of  imported cattle was 18.40%, 10.25%, and 14.52% respectively. The sediment had pH range from 10.01-10.03, the dry matter solubility  was 35.5% up to 39.1%. The sediment from imported cattle had higher specific density, bulk and compacted bulk densities and angle of response than that of local cattle. It is concluded that sediment from cattle rumen liquor contained high Na, K and Fe, low amino acids and B-vitamin, high pH and low solubility.
