Disasters can happen anywhere and anytime and can cause trauma to anyone who experiences them. Trauma is a psychological problem caused by unpleasant events or scary events that can happen to a person, including children. The purpose of this literature review was to identify the studies that have been conducted on the effect of CBT in overcoming trauma in disaster victims. The method used was a literature review by searching for articles using databases such as: PubMed, ProQuest, Science Direct, and Google Scholar, with Indonesian and English keywords. There were 10 articles that matched the inclusion criteria, two of which used the CBT method combined with other interventions, while the other eight studies only used the CBT method, and all of which were proven to have an effect on reducing the PTSD score of disaster victims, so CBT can be applied to children disaster victims in Indonesia. Abstrak: Bencana dapat terjadi dimanapun dan kapanpun serta dapat menyebabkan trauma pada seseorang yang mengalaminya. Abstract

Background: Cancer diagnosis in children impacts not only the children themselves but also their parents, and the role of providing support during the treatment process is crucial. The illness’s complexity, the diagnosis process, and the course of treatment can have various effects on parents and family life. To cope with the challenges of caring for their chronically ill children, families adopt a normalization process to restore their routines. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the implications of a childhood cancer diagnosis on families and how parents normalize their daily lives in the face of this difficult situation. Methods: The study was a qualitative study conducted in a pediatric cancer shelter house in Bandung, Indonesia, from May to August 2018. Ten parents who had children with cancer were included in the study. Data were collected through interviews and thematically analyzed.  Results: This study yielded five themes: 1) parents’ negative feelings when children are first diagnosed with the illness, 2) various changes in the family’s life, 3) the impact on the family’s quality of life, 4) family’s extra effort to overcome the illness’s impact and 5) parents’ expectations for social support. Conclusions: Cancer in children has a significant impact on the lives of the entire family, particularly parents. Normalizing the lives of parents who have children with cancer entails several adaptation or adjustment tasks. Nurses can assist families in adapting by guiding how to deal with the changes they are experiencing and accepting this as the new normal. Nurses can help families normalize their daily routines, provide social support, improve coping strategies, increase family closeness, and identify the source of support from other families or the community.

Abstract

Background: When a child is diagnosed with cancer, parents are affected, especially if they are unprepared and do not understand the illness. Parents' informational needs are frequently expressed and vary, so identifying parent needs is critical before providing health or nursing interventions. Aims: This review aimed to identify the information needs of parents of children with cancer. Method: PubMed, Medline, and CINAHL were applied to conduct electronic searches. The terms "information needs”, "parent”, "cancer”, and "child” were combined using Boolean expressions "OR” and "AND”. The inclusion criteria were non-experimental studies published in English within the last 10 years (2011-2021). A risk of bias assessment was conducted for each included study using the Joanna Bridge Institute critical appraisal tools. After identification and screening, the articles were filtered according to the criteria with a total of 15 articles included in this study. Furthermore, data extraction and synthesis were carried out. Narrative synthesis is used by collecting information on the findings of the article to be grouped into themes of finding problems. Results: Four themes emerged based on the results of the analysis: types of information needed; information formats; provision of information; and sources of information. Conclusion: This study concluded that parents require accurate information that addresses their specific information needs and is appropriate for their child's cancer stage. The provision of balanced written and verbal information, as well as information that is complete, accurate, and reliable, makes it easier for parents to increase their knowledge about caring for their children.

Abstract

Introduction: Health problems caused by thalassemia disease process and treatment affect patients who suffer from this disease, including pediatric patients who are in their preschool age. These problems can interfere with the child's physical, emotional, social, and school functions. This study aimed to describe the quality of life of preschool-age children with thalassemia major in Sumedang and Garut areas. Methods: In this study, a quantitative descriptive design was applied to a sample of 63 parents of children with 3-6 years old children with thalassemia who were recruited using the total sampling approach. The quality of life as a variable was measured using the PedsQLTM 4.0 Generic Core Scales for parent-proxy reports. Data collected were then analyzed for the mean score and categorized into good or poor quality of life, which were then expressed in frequencies and percentages. Results: Results showed that the mean score of quality of life was 75.94, with the mean scores for physical function, emotional function, social function, and school function of 75.79, 71.98, 87.46, and 60.95, respectively. The majority of preschool-age children with thalassemia have poor quality of life. The dimension that receives the most negative influence is the school function. Conculusion: It is suggested that nurses can improve the quality of life of these children by identifying the impaired functions and providing the appropriate care, such as facilitating the needs of these children to receive blood transfusions in hospitals.

Abstract

Pregnancy is one of the events that every woman experiences before becoming a mother. Many physiological and psychological changes occur in the mother's body during this time. As a result, the mother and fetus suffer from a variety of unfavorable consequences, one of which is depression. Although doctors usually believe antidepressant medicines to be safe for severe depression, most pregnant women are hesitant to use them for fear of negative effects. The purpose of this study is to see how mobile treatments affect pregnant women who are depressed. The narrative review approach is used in this literature study. Search PubMed, EBSCO, and Science Direct databases for papers containing the keywords pregnant women, pregnancy, depression, and mobile intervention with inclusion criteria, such as articles published within the previous 10 years, forms of experimental study, in English, and full-text. Seven final papers were obtained as the number of final articles appropriate for evaluation. The findings of an analysis of seven studies on mobile interventions to reduce the prevalence of depression in pregnant women reveal a substantial decrease. Because mobile intervention is successful in lowering the prevalence of depression in pregnant women, it is advised that it be used as an alternative in delivering the intervention to pregnant women, particularly in situations of depression.
