Abstract

The communication revolution is growing in the assumption that communication is a vital element in human life. The problem that emerges in the use of communication technology is the perception of the Indonesian people that the social, educational, and economic spheres of technology are regarded as tools that can solve the problems of this world of life easily without paying attention to the effects of these three areas. Industry implications in the field of communications technology are significant for social life, economic growth, and educational dynamics in Indonesia, but also have a threat of negative impacts that are difficult to avoid. The industrialization of the media is increasingly demonstrating how much society and all aspects connected with it, including social, economic, and educational aspects, are in need of information through mass media technology that is growing so rapidly in the age of globalization.

Abstract

This study examined the integration of Indonesian language and literature learning within the context of Merdeka Curriculum implementation at the secondary school level as a strategy to strengthen students’ literacy and cultural appreciation. The main objective of this research is to understand the extent to which an integrative approach can improve the quality of learning that is not only cognitively oriented but also affective and cultural in nature. The subjects of this research consist of 20 scholarly articles selected through purposive sampling based on their relevance to the topic and the publication period between 2015 and 2025. The characteristics of the literature encompass perspectives on educational policy, pedagogical strategies, and empirical studies involving junior and senior high school students from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method, with documentation techniques for data collection and thematic analysis to identify patterns, trends, and conceptual contributions from each source. The findings indicate that integrating language and literature learning significantly enhances students' literacy skills, broadens their cultural insights, and creates more reflective and meaningful learning experiences. Learning strategies that combine literary texts and language practice foster students' critical thinking, empathy, and appreciation of literature as well as real-life contexts. These findings confirm that the integration of language and literature not only substantively strengthens the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum but also contributes to the formation of the Pancasila Student Profile. As an implication, this approach needs to be further developed through teacher training, the provision of contextual learning media, and educational policies that support holistic and transformative teaching practices.

Abstract

This study explores the communication strategy of the South Lampung Regency Government in implementing the Swasembada Sekolah Movement to enhance educational quality and reduce dropout rates. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The research took place in Sukamarga Village, Sidomulyo District, a pilot area for the program. Findings reveal that the communication strategy was systematically implemented across regency, district, village, and school levels. Key stakeholders included the Department of Education, village heads, school principals, and Swasembada Sekolah Ambassadors. Communication methods encompassed direct channels such as face-to-face meetings, roadshows, and focus group discussions, as well as indirect media like social media, YouTube, and local press. The strategy effectively raised public awareness about the importance of education and increased participation in alternative education programs (Kejar Paket) for dropouts. Notably, South Lampung’s Human Development Index (HDI) surpassed 70 in 2024, indicating positive social impact. However, the study identifies a gap in digital communication, with minimal activity on official websites and social media managed by the Education Department. Therefore, the research recommends optimizing digital platforms, strengthening inter-agency coordination, and enhancing supporting infrastructure and human resources to ensure the movement's long-term sustainability.

Abstract

Digital transformation drove significant changes in various aspects of educational governance, including in the management of human resources (HR). This study aimed to identify and synthesise HR management strategies that had been implemented globally in response to the challenges and opportunities of digitalisation over the past decade. Employing a systematic review approach to 65 scholarly articles published between 2014 and 2024, this study mapped out best practices across six key areas: digital recruitment, professional training and development, technology-based performance evaluation, utilisation of digital platforms, workforce well-being, as well as policy and transformational leadership. The synthesis results revealed that the successful implementation of these strategies heavily depended on the social context, national policies, and the level of technological infrastructure readiness in each country. Educational institutions that were able to integrate technology with data-driven approaches, apply adaptive leadership, and prioritise holistic HR well-being proved to be more resilient and adaptable in facing digital disruption. Moreover, training programmes that combined the strengthening of technical skills with motivational support yielded more sustainable outcomes. This study also emphasised the importance of a systemic approach and cross-sector collaboration in designing HR policies that were responsive to digital developments. The findings were expected to serve as a reference for stakeholders in formulating educational policies that were more adaptive, inclusive, and focused on strengthening human capacity in the era of digital transformation.

Abstract

This review systematically examined the effectiveness and challenges of utilising Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies in the field of education over the past decade. As immersive technologies developed, AR and VR offered new approaches that were interactive, contextual, and constructivist in the teaching and learning process. This study employed a systematic review method based on the PRISMA protocol to analyse 60 scholarly articles published between 2015 and 2025, covering various educational levels, fields of study, and learning outcome indicators. The findings revealed that the application of AR and VR generally enhanced conceptual understanding, motivation, student engagement, and psychomotor skills, particularly within the contexts of science, engineering, medical education, and vocational training. Nevertheless, the implementation of these technologies still faced several obstacles, including infrastructure limitations, teacher preparedness, and potential psychological effects such as disorientation and cybersickness. The review also highlighted a growing trend of collaboration between educational institutions and technology industries in the development of AR/VR content, as well as the importance of policy support in expanding access to and the quality of immersive technology-based learning. Thus, AR and VR held significant potential as integral components in the transformation of future educational ecosystems, provided they were accompanied by appropriate pedagogical strategies and adequate readiness of supporting ecosystems.

Abstract

This study aimed to provide a systematic review of the trends in AI utilisation in education over the past decade (2015–2025). The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method was employed following the PRISMA protocol, with data sources drawn from four major databases: IEEE Xplore, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. The total number of selected and analysed articles offered in-depth insights into various forms of AI implementation, such as intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning, educational chatbots, automated assessment, and learning analytics. The findings of the review indicated that AI significantly contributed to personalised learning, educational management efficiency, and early detection of potential academic failure. However, notable challenges also emerged, particularly concerning ethics, data privacy, and algorithmic bias. In addition, technical and social barriers such as the digital divide and resistance from educators continued to hinder the equitable adoption of AI. This review concluded that strategic and ethical approaches were required in the development and implementation of AI in order to ensure greater inclusivity and sustainability. These findings were expected to serve as a foundation for educational policy and future research directions.

Abstract

This study explores the utilization of communication technology to alleviate loneliness among elderly residents in nursing homes, specifically at UPTD Pelayanan Sosial Lanjut Usia Tresna Werdha Natar, Lampung Province. As internet usage increases in Indonesia, older adults remain significantly underrepresented among users due to generational gaps in digital literacy. Through a community service project, this initiative sought to enhance elderly well-being by teaching them to use communication platforms like WhatsApp for maintaining connections with family and friends. The intervention included workshops, device usage training, and practical simulations aimed at reducing social isolation and fostering emotional support. Using a qualitative method, the study interviewed 29 elderly residents aged 70–79. The results revealed that 85% of respondents reported reduced feelings of loneliness after learning to use WhatsApp, noting improved emotional well-being and increased communication frequency with family members. Social virtual activities such as group chats and online events further engaged the elderly and contributed to their mental health. The findings underscore the critical role of nursing home staff and family support in sustaining elderly participation in digital communication. This project concludes that communication technology, when supported by structured training and emotional reinforcement, can be an effective strategy for enhancing the quality of life among the elderly in institutional care
