Abstract

Type 2 DM is a chronic disease requiring long-term care, so it needs self-management education toprevent the complication. The patient's inability to perform self-care can reduce the quality of life. DSME/Sis one of education which facilitates knowledge, skills, patient abilities, and family support in self-care.DSME/S is given in the form of discharge planning to improve knowledge and skills in self-care. Thisresearch aimed to analyze the effect of Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSME/S) onquality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in RSD dr. Soebandi. The research design wasquasi experimental with pre-test post-test with control group design. A number of samples were 30 peopledivided into two groups: 15 people in the treatment group and 15 people in the control group. DSME/Swas conducted in 6 sessions. Sessions 1-4 were performed in the hospital and sessions 5-6 wereperformed at the patient’s home. The data were analyzed by using dependent t test and independent ttest which significance level of 0.05. The result of t-dependent test indicated that there was significantdifferent quality of life between pre-test and post-test in the treatment group (p = 0.001) and control group(p = 0.002). The result of Independent t test showed a significant difference between treatment group andcontrol group (p = 0.001). The enhancement of quality of life on the treatment group was greater than thecontrol group. The conclusion showed that there was significant effect of DSME/S on the quality of life oftype 2 DM patients. DSME/S could improve patient self-care knowledge and abilities in controlling bloodsugar and prevent complications may effect of quality of life. Abstract

Scabies is a skin disease that can transmited to another person who live together in some place for a long time and cause pruritus, skin eruption, and scars. Skin Personal Hygiene Management can facilitate the knowledge, skill and ability of the patients to take care and prevent scabies infection. The objetive of the research was to analyze the influence of Health Education about Skin Personal Hygiene Management to the self care actions on prisoners with scabies. The method of the research was quasi experimental study with post test only with control group design. The sample of the research used total sampling with 22 prisoners with scabies respondent divided into 2 groups, experiment group dan control group which 11 respondent each group. Data were analyzed by using Independent T-test with 95% of Cl. The result showed that p value of Independent t-test was 0,000 (p < α; α = 0,05). The conclusion of this research is there was an influence of health education about Skin Personal Hygiene Management to self care actions on prisoners with scabies in Correctional Institution Class II-A Jember. Self care actions on experimental group was categorized 100% good, meanwhile on control group 90,9% categorized quite good. It is suggested that nurses can provide Skin Personal Hygiene Management to increase self care actions which can prevent scabies infection and using Skin Personal Hygiene Management as health education program. Abstract

Preparedness is activities which is being undertaken to anticipating disaster to well organize. Nursehas responsibility to manage disaster to minimize the impact of disaster. There are many factors(age, years in nursing, previous experience with disaster situation, worked in a post disaster shelter,self regulation and health care climate) influence nurse to take well preparedness. The objective ofthe research is to analyze the factors influence preparedness. The descriptive analitic with crosssectional approach. The sample of the research are 16 nurses. The data taken using questionnairefrom Emergency Preparedness Information Questionnaire that have been modiefied. The analyze ofdata using spearman rho test and logistic regression (with α = 0,05). The result of bivariat analyzethere are significant relations between age, years in nursing, previous experience with disastersituation, worked in a post disaster shelter, self regulation, health care climate with preparedness (p< α = 0,05). From multivariat analyze we know that years in nursing is variable dominan factor thatinfluence nurse preparedness (p = 0,020 < α = 0,05). Abstract

Anxiety as psychosocial problems were emerged as stimulated by stress after flash flood disaster. Supportive group therapy is an effective method to solve some psychosocial problems. This research was intended to analyze the effect of supportive group therapy toward the client’s anxiety after flash flood disaster at relocation housing in Suci Village. The research used quasi-experimental non equivalent with control group design with 36 respondents divided into 2 groups: 13 respondents in intervention group, and 23 respondents in control group. Abstract

Umbilical cord care is a treatment of newborn baby’s umbilical cord started when umbilical cord was cut off or dried up. A well took umbilical cord care allow baby to heal faster. Umbilical Cord Care Training (UCCT) by simulation method aims to provide skill in performing umbilical cord care of primigravida in preventing infections and tetanus neonatorum. This research was intended to analyze the influence of UCCT to umbilical cord caring skill of 2nd and 3rd trimester primigravida. This was a quasy experimental study with non-randomized control group and pretest-posttest design. The samples were 32 primigravide picked out by multistage random sampling and divided into two groups. Data were analyzed by Wilcoxon match pair test and Mann Whitney U test with 95% of CI. The result showed p value of Wilcoxon match pair test in experimental group was 0,000 and 1,000 in control group, while by Mann Whitney obtained p value of 0,000 (a=0,05). It can be concluded that there was an influence of UCCT to primigravida’s skill in performing umbilical cord care. Abstract

Pathological change experienced by patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is impaired peripheral blood circulation, especially in the lower limbs and feet. Peripheral blood circulation can be examined by measuring Ankle Brachial Index (ABI). Therapeutic exercise walking is one of physical activities which can improve blood circulation. This research goal was to analyze the effect of therapeutic exercise walking on peripheral blood circulation in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The research design was randomized control group pretest-posttest design. The sample size was 15 respondents as control group and 15 respondents as treatment group. Data was analyzed by using dependent t-test and independent t-test with significant level of 0.05. This result showed a significant increase of ABI after therapeutic exercise walking in the treatment group (p= 0.001). However there was a significant decrease of ABI between pretest and posttest in control group (p=0.010).Independent t-test indicated a significant difference of ABI between treatment group and control group (p=0.000). So, it can be concluded that there is an influence of therapeutic exercise walking on the peripheral blood circulation in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Nurses should apply therapeutic exercise walking to improve peripheral blood circulation in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that requires a continous self-care. A low level ofknowledge about self-care can worsen health condition and cause diabetes distress. The continuingstress can cause hyperglycemia that lead to complications of DM. DSME/S is a structured healtheducation that facilitates DM patients in implementing and maintaining their behavior for sustainableself-care. This research aimed to analyze the effect of DSME/S on diabetes distress in patients withtype 2 DM. This research was quasi experimental with non randomized control group pretestposttest design. Thirty respondents in this study were divided into 15 respondents as theintervention group and 15 respondents as the control group by consequtive sampling technique.DSME/S was conducted in 6 sessions: 4 sessions in the hospital and 2 sessions at respondent'shouse. The data were analyzed by using dependent t test and independent t test with significancelevel of 0.05. The result of dependent t test revealed a significant difference of diabetes distressbetween pretest and posttest both in the intervention group (p=0.001) and in the control group(p=0.046). Furthermore, independent t test showed a significant difference between interventiongroup and control group (p=0.001). The decrease of diabetes distress was higher in the interventiongroup than control group. This result indicates that there was a significant effect of DSME/S ondiabetes distress in patients with type 2 DM. Nurses are expected to apply DSME/S as a dischargeplanning to reduce diabetes distress in patients with type 2 DM.Keywords: diabetes distress, DSME/S, Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract

Preparedness is a activities undertaken to anticipate disasters through the organization as well as through measures appropriate and useful. Build preparedness is an important element, but it is not easy to do because it involves the mental attitude and culture and discipline in a society. Preparedness is the most strategic stages because it determines the resilience of the community members in facing a calamity. This research aims to improve the knowledge and attitude of disaster preparedness in the youth in the village of Rowosari. This study design is a pre-experimental design with one group pretest posttest. The study sample as many 20 karang taruna and using simple random sampling. The data analysis uses dependent t-test, with an average increase in the value of disaster preparedness 1 hour after the intervention with a value of 45.25 pretest and the posttest-1 value of 89, the value of one week after the intervention values of 45.25 pretest and posttest-2 values 87, 65, a decline in the average value of disaster preparedness at posttest -1, posttest with a value of 89.3 posttest-1 and posttest- 2 87.65 value. This result shows that the value of p 0:00 < 0:05 (a). The conclusion from this research is that there is a very significant influence on disaster preparedness mountain erupted after the intervention given by the CTL method SAVI approach. The recommendation of this study is the method of CTL with SAVI approach recommended in the community to improve the knowledge and attitude of disaster early warning, transportation evacuation and disaster preparedness bandaged splint.   Keywords: disaster preparedness, contextual learning methods, methods of somatic visual auditory intellectual

Abstract

AIDS remains ranked as the third most deadly disease in Indonesia. The disease is caused by the HIV that can lead to lower a person's immune status to trigger an opportunistic infections and cause of death. The incidence of HIV disease in 2014 has reached 32,711 cases, at the age of 14-19 years of 1,717 cases (5.24%). Lack of knowledge among teenagers about HIV/AIDS makes their behavior leads to negative interactions or risk to free sex, misuse of syringes, and other related problems. Problem-based instruction (PBI) as a learning model is expected to change knowledge and attitudes of teenagers on HIV / AIDS. The results of dependent t-test t value -3.8380 for knowledge, and the value of t -22.174 for attitudes which means an increase in value after a given model of PBI with a mean difference -6.800 and -24.000 respectively for knowledge and attitudes.
