Abstract

Background: Natural products are increasingly favored in wound care due to concerns about antibiotic resistance and side effects of synthetic drugs. Carica papaya L., a tropical plant native to Central America and widely grown in Indonesia, contains bioactive compounds with properties essential for tissue repair. This study tests whether a topical Carica papaya formulation speeds up wound healing by measuring granulation and epithelialization. Methods: Using a quasi-experimental design. A total of 50 participants were divided into a control (standard wound care) and a treatment group (standard care + C. papaya extract). Analysis used the Paired T test. Result: Paired t-tests indicated no significant changes in the control group (p = 1.00). In contrast, the treatment group demonstrated statistically significant improvements in granulation (pre: 0.44 ± 0.51; post: 1.56 ± 0.51; t = -9.35, p < 0.001) and epithelialization (pre: 0.68 ± 0.47; post: 1.72 ± 0.46; t = -10.25, p < 0.001). Independent-samples t-tests confirmed significant differences between groups after the intervention (granulation: t = -9.35, p < 0.001; epithelialization: t = -10.25, p < 0.001). These results support the incorporation of C. papaya extract into evidence-based complementary wound management protocols. Conclusion: Carica papaya extract significantly enhances wound healing, promoting granulation and epithelialization. Thus, it may serve as an effective adjunctive therapy in clinical wound management.

Abstract

Abstract

One of the most important factors in raising hospital patient happiness and care quality is effective collaboration among healthcare professionals. Implementing techniques to improve teamwork skills is still fraught with difficulties, though. A lack of policy backing, a lack of resources, and healthcare personnel' aversion to change are the key problems. Health workers' resistance to change, a lack of legislative support, and a lack of resources all make it difficult to maximize team collaboration, which is crucial for providing high-quality care and satisfactory patient outcomes. Therefore, in order to assess the efficacy of collaborative skills training programs and their influence on patient satisfaction, a systematic study is required. A thorough literature review based on major databases was conducted in this investigation. The Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases were searched for relevant literature with a publication span of 2019–2024. The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) and the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT) were used to assess the gathered papers. Eight pertinent articles were thoroughly examined out of the 885 total that were found. To find important trends in health workers' collaborative skills training tactics and their effects on patient satisfaction, a theme analysis technique was used to examine a few chosen research. Eight publications in all were gathered, and the results demonstrated that online learning and simulation-based training improved health workers' capacity for teamwork. Additionally, it has been demonstrated that clinical supervision and leadership enhance the coordination of multidisciplinary teams, and family-based approaches significantly affect patient satisfaction. This study recommends hospitals include these evidence-based training tactics into postoperative care protocols to enhance team efficacy and overall patient experience, notwithstanding implementation hurdles such time restrictions and managerial support. Enhancing interdisciplinary teamwork through structured collaborative training can improve patient outcomes and satisfaction while also enhancing the quality of treatment. This method encourages teamwork and collaborative decision-making while promoting integrated, holistic care in nursing. Improved care quality, enhanced team communication, and a patient-centered approach involving families are among the health implications. These tactics benefit patients and healthcare professionals alike, improving clinical results, patient safety, and general satisfaction.

Abstract

Diet adherence in breast cancer patients impacts their physical condition and quality of life. Psychosocial factors play a role in diet adherence in breast cancer patients, but the exact influence of each factor is still unclear. This study aims to investigate the impact of various psychosocial factors on dietary adherence among breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. The research used a cross-sectional design with 98 respondents selected through simple random sampling. The dependent variable is diet adherence, and the independent variables are psychosocial factors (knowledge, motivation, coping, distress, spirituality, and social support). Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed both descriptively and inferentially (using multiple linear regression). The research results show that most respondents are aged 46–55 years (35.7%), have an elementary school education (41.8%), are housewives (51%), are married (84.7%), and have undergone their third chemotherapy visit (24.5%). Respondents have moderate knowledge, coping, and distress (51%, 56%, 55%), while also exhibiting high motivation, spirituality, and social support (71%, 75%, 78%). However, diet adherence is reported as low and high (34.7%, 34.7%). The analysis results indicate that psychosocial factors have a significant simultaneous influence on dietary adherence, accounting for 29.1% of the variance (F = 7.649; p < 0.000; R² = 0.291). However, partially, motivation and spirituality have a significant influence on dietary adherence (t = 2.726, p = 0.008 and t = 4.978, p = 0.000). The study concludes that psychosocial factors, including motivation and spirituality, are important components that influence dietary adherence in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Therefore, efforts to improve dietary adherence in breast cancer patients should consider the patients' motivation and spirituality to enhance chemotherapy outcomes and quality of life.

Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) necessitates stringent fluid restriction during hemodialysis to prevent volume overload, yet its direct impact on patient-reported outcomes remains inadequately characterized in regional healthcare settings. This study investigated the association between adherence to fluid restriction and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among maintenance hemodialysis patients. A cross-sectional design was utilized with 84 participants systematically selected via simple random sampling from a cohort of 160 at a regional Indonesian referral hospital in January 2026. Fluid compliance and HRQoL were quantified using the validated Fluid Control and Dietary Compliance Questionnaire (FCDCQ) and Kidney Disease Quality of Life-36 (KDQOL-36), respectively, and bivariate relationships were evaluated using Spearman’s rank-order correlation, following institutional ethical approval. Most respondents demonstrated satisfactory fluid compliance and reported moderate overall HRQoL. Statistical analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between fluid restriction adherence and HRQoL (ρ = 0.348, p < 0.001), indicating that greater compliance is associated with improved patient-reported well-being. However, the modest effect size underscores the multifactorial nature of wellness in end-stage renal disease. Fluid management constitutes a critical, modifiable behavioral determinant of HRQoL. Integrating structured, nurse-led adherence counseling and continuous psychological support into routine dialysis care can simultaneously optimize clinical stability and psychosocial adaptation. Longitudinal studies employing objective monitoring technologies are recommended to validate causal pathways and refine comprehensive patient management frameworks.

Abstract

Therapy slow deep breathing exercise and acupressure is a complementary therapy that aims to reduce the symptoms of the disease to improve the quality of individual health. Complementary therapy is rarely done in hospitals so that the symptoms felt by patients are not reduced without medication. This therapy can reduce the symptoms of shortness of breath in patients who specifically experience impaired breathing patterns that are not effective. The study aims to determine the effectiveness of combination therapy slow deep breathing exercises and acupressure to address ineffective breathing pattern nursing problems in nursing care. This type of research is a case study using the nursing care method. The research sample was patients treated in the Gardena room at dr. Soebandi General Hospital Jember. Patients were given nursing interventions in the form of a combination of slow deep breathing exercise therapy and acupressure for 1-2 times a day for 3 days. Providing nursing interventions in the form of a combination of slow deep breathing exercise therapy and acupressure can overcome ineffective breathing pattern nursing problems. This is indicated by the improvement in the patient's condition that the shortness of breath is reduced, the frequency is improving, not using the auxiliary muscles of breathing, and the depth of breathing is improving. Patients can also carry out the therapy independently properly and correctly. A combination of slow deep breathing exercise therapy and acupressure can overcome the problem of ineffective breathing pattern nursing.

Abstract

Physical activity exercise is an essential component in comprehensive diabetes management. Non-adherence to physical activity exercises can lead to poor metabolic control, causing increased complications, morbidity, and premature death due to diabetes. One of the factors that can determine the behavior of physical activity is the psychosocial factor of people with T2DM. The study aims to assess the effect of psychosocial factors on physical activity behavior. This study was an analytical observational with a cross-sectional approach. The sample size was 138 respondents with multistage random sampling. The dependent variable was physical activity behavior, and the independent variables were psychosocial factors (knowledge, coping, distress, perceptions of family support, and perceptions of nurse support). Data analysis used multiple linear regression (α=0.05). Psychosocial factors that influenced the physical activity behavior were distress (p=0.001 < α=0.05). Meanwhile, knowledge, coping, perceived family support, and perceived nurse support did not affect physical activity behavior (p=0.684; p=0.919; p=0.235; p=0.108 > α=0.05) with Adjusted R2=0.113 (F=4.502; p=0.001 < α=0.05). Psychosocial factors that influence physical activity behavior in T2DM patients are diabetic distress. Therefore, health workers, in providing health services as much as possible, must be able to prevent and reduce diabetes distress to increase the physical activity behavior of people with T2DM.
