Abstract

The use of smartphones can significantly impact positive and negative users, especially among teenagers today, and teenagers still get much information via smartphones without adult supervision. This disrupts adolescent health and the growth of socialization abilities because of difficulties communicating with the environment; the child becomes irritable, and his knowledge does not develop. Middle school teenagers experience significant physical, social, and emotional changes, which will develop a stronger self-identity and require social interaction with society by frequently using smartphones in every social and other activity. This activity aims to provide understanding to teenagers to be more competent in using communication technology and change the mental habits of teenagers who depend on smartphones. The event was held at SMP IT Al Jawahir Sunggal, Deli Serdang, with 25 participants. This activity uses lecture, discussion, and test methods. Based on the pre-test and post-test presentation, the test score increased 56% after socialization, 36% was neutral, and 8% decreased after socialization.

Abstract

With the development of the times and the complexity of business demands, organizations need an effective way to measure, manage, and improve employee productivity and performance contributions. The purpose of this study is to monitor and assess employee performance at the Medan Aviation Polytechnic. This research method is quantitative with Software Development Life Cycle with waterfall technique. with sample user admin, pedulitaruna. The results of the study showed that users of 108 employees, the percentage results based on satisfaction with the use of the performance management information system were 9% of employees very satisfied with the use of the performance management information system, 69% of employees satisfied with the use of the performance management information system, 17% of employees neutral in the use of the performance management information system, and 5% of employees dissatisfied with the use of the performance management information system.

Abstract

The electric welding system requires a welding transformer that is usually classified as direct current (DC) or alternating current (AC). In electric welding, a separate transformer is provided as a source for regulating the required current during the welding process. The operation of the transformer during welding is closely related to the needs of the current, the diameter of the welding wire, and the thickness of the material being welded. The difference between a conventional coil winding transformer and a manufacturer's coil winding transformer lies in the welding results and the specimens obtained from testing a type of material, which is steel plate ST37 with a thickness of 8mm and a width of 40mm, using electrodes E-6013 with diameters of 2.6mm and 3.2mm. The welding joint method used is a single V groove butt joint. The welding tests of both transformers prove that the penetration, width, and height of the weld bead with the Manufacturer's coil winding transformer are quite good compared to the Conventional coil winding transformer. Based on the welding test results of both transformers, the Manufacturer's coil winding transformer using electrode type E-6013 achieved the highest bending test strength with a Crack load value of 33.701 kN, while the Conventional coil winding transformer had a value of 27.335 kN, both using the same current of 120 Amperes.".

Abstract

Jakarta, as a rapidly growing urban area, faces challenges in balancing energy demand with supply while addressing environmental concerns associated with traditional energy sources. Electrical energy production prediction in urban environments like Jakarta is crucial for effective energy management, ensuring stable supply, and promoting sustainable development. The prediction of electrical energy production in Jakarta is critical for ensuring stable and sustainable energy supply. This research proposed the application of the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) as a predictive tool specifically tailored for Jakarta's energy production prediction context. The research methodology used in this study is the ANFIS. Five levels make up the architecture of the ANFIS model: output, normalization, defuzzification, rule evaluation, and fuzzification. The fuzzification layer converts input variables into linguistic terms using membership functions, while the rule evaluation layer calculates the activation strength of each rule based on the input values. The predicted results of Jakarta electrical energy production from 2023 to 2028 are 65,288 GWh and there is an annual increase of 5.25%. The error contained in ANFIS is with a root mean square error (RMSE) value of 0.0001058% and a mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) value of 0.00875%.

Abstract

Fossil fuel power plants still play an essential role in providing energy worldwide, but their environmental impact will contribute significantly to emissions and environmental pollution. To reduce these emissions, renewable energy offers a solution to reduce global emissions. This study proposes a renewable energy modeling system using hybrid optimization of multiple energy resources (HOMER) simulation on renewable energy systems for economic savings. This simulation can combine photovoltaic (PV), wind power (WP), and converter systems. The hybrid combination of PV and WP is the most appropriate and economical choice at the research location. The results showed that the modeling of the renewable energy hybrid system made a significant contribution, with an initial investment cost of IDR 107,474.43 million and an annual operating cost of IDR 22,540.23 million, 41% lower on condition now with an estimated return on investment of 11 years. The results of this study can be used as recommendations for similar conditions in other places. Policymakers can use this model to provide incentives and have a positive impact on hybrid power plants (HPS) in neutralizing global emissions.

Abstract

Waste management poses a significant environmental challenge in Indonesia. Ineffective waste handling can lead to various negative environmental impacts. Meanwhile, energy demand continues to rise in line with population growth. One innovative solution to address these issues is the use of Thermoelectric Generator (TEG) technology in a Waste-to-Energy Power Plant (PLTSa) system. This study aims to design and develop a power generation system that utilizes heat energy from the combustion of waste—specifically plastic and paper—to generate electricity, which is then used as a power source for lighting systems. This research uses a quantitative descriptive method to explain a phenomenon or process without relating it to other variables. The energy conversion process is carried out using six TEG modules connected in series to maximize voltage output. The generated voltage is then regulated and stored in a battery using a Solar Charge Controller (SCC), and monitored through an INA219 sensor and an Arduino UNO microcontroller. The system is also equipped with a photocell sensor that enables the light to operate automatically based on the ambient light intensity. Test results show that a temperature difference (∆T) of 227.7°C between the hot and cold sides of the TEG can produce a maximum voltage of 15.87 Volts. The monitoring and automatic control system functions effectively in tracking the TEG output and switching the light on or off according to environmental lighting conditions. Therefore, this system presents a viable alternative solution for renewable energy generation based on waste management.

Abstract

Pengelolaan beban listrik secara manual pada fasilitas besar seperti auditorium sering kali menghadirkan tantangan dalam hal pengawasan, keselamatan, dan keandalan sistem. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang sebuah sistem monitoring dan kendali beban listrik berbasis Home Assistant yang terintegrasi pada Auditorium Politeknik Penerbangan Medan dengan metode penelitian penelitian dan pengembangan (research and development). Platform Home Assistant digunakan sebagai antarmuka utama yang memungkinkan pengguna untuk mengakses monitoring status beban listrik secara real-time, menghidupkan atau mematikan peralatan secara otomatis maupun manual pada sistem. Penelitian ini telah membuktikan bahwa sistem mikrokontroler bisa terintegrasi ke peralatan keras listrik, selain itu sistem ini juga memonitoring daya, tegangan, arus dan frekuensi pada instalasi sistem. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan bahwa sistem mampu memberikan visibilitas penuh terhadap kondisi kelistrikan dan memberikan hasil monitoring secara real-time.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat dari Politeknik Penerbangan Medan dilaksanakan dengan mitra Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri 1 Tanjung Morawa, yang berlokasi dekat dengan Bandar Udara Internasional Kualanamu Deli Serdang, jarak sekolah dengan Bandara kurang lebih 19 km. berdasarkan hal tersebut maka tim pengabdian melakukan edukasi keamanan penerbangan kepada guru dan siswa. Keamanan Penerbangan adalahsuatu keadaan yang memberikan perlindungan kepada penerbangan dari tindakan melawan hukum melalui keterpaduan pemanfaatan sumber dayamanusia, fasilitas, dan prosedur. Metode yang diterapkan tim pengabdian adalah memberikan ceramah dan tanya jawab serta contoh “ contoh kejadian nyata yang terjadi di dunia penerbangan, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan memberikan test kepada peserta menggunakan aplikasi kahoot. Hasil pretest total 36 orang peserta terdapat 23 orang dengan nilai dibawah 70 dan 13 orang dengan nilai di atas 70. Setelah diberikan edukasi, peserta mengalami peningkatan nilai yaitu sebanyak 25 orang peserta dan 11 peserta tidak mengalami peningkatan. Outcome yang kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah masyarakat terutama para siswa di lingkungan sekitar Bandar Udara lebih memahami pentingnya penerapan keamanan penerbangan sipil sehingga keselamatan penerbangan dapat terwujud.The Community Service Activities of the Medan Aviation Polytechnic are carried out with partners from Tanjung Morawa 1 Public High School, which is located close to Kualanamu Deli Serdang International Airport, the distance between the school and the airport is approximately 19 km. Based on this, the service team conducts aviation safety education for teachers and students. Aviation Security is a situation that provides protection to aviation from acts against the law through the integrated use of human resources, facilities and procedures. The method used by the service team is to give lectures and questions and answers as well as examples of real events that occurred in the world of aviation, then proceed with giving tests to participants using the kahoot application. The pretest results for a total of 36 participants included 23 people with scores below 70 and 13 people with scores above 70. After being given education, the participants experienced an increase in scores, namely 25 participants and 11 participants did not experience an increase. The outcome of this community service activity is that the community, especially students in the environment around the airport, understand more about the importance of implementing civil aviation security so that aviation safety can be realized.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to design an automatic buggy vehicle driver system based on the ESP32 microcontroller at Medan Aviation Polytechnic. The system is designed to enhance the operational efficiency of campus vehicles, enabling them to operate autonomously without requiring a direct driver. The ESP32 microcontroller serves as the central controller, regulating the DC motor for steering, pneumatic motors for gas and brake pedals, and a motor driver to control the current to the motors. The system's performance testing showed that the power required for the pneumatic motors (gas and brake) is 36 watts, and for the DC motor steering, it is 72 watts. Turning tests at a 90° angle and braking tests, where the braking distance was reduced by 10 cm after calibration, indicated that the system operates as expected. These tests confirmed the system's responsiveness and accuracy in automatic operation. Technical challenges in testing, such as adjusting sensor sensitivity and calibrating the pneumatic system, were addressed through repeated trials. This research contributes to the development of vehicle automation in educational settings and offers potential for further advancement, such as integrating LiDAR and GPS sensors for improved navigation accuracy. Keywords:  Automatic Buggy Vehicle Driver, Microcontroller, ESP32, Control System, Vehicle Automation Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang sistem penggerak mobil buggy otomatis berbasis mikrokontroler ESP32 di Politeknik Penerbangan Medan. Sistem ini dirancang untuk meningkatkan efisiensi operasional kendaraan kampus yang dapat bergerak secara otonom tanpa memerlukan pengemudi langsung. Mikrokontroler ESP32 digunakan sebagai pusat kendali, mengatur motor DC untuk setir, motor pneumatik untuk pedal gas dan rem, serta motor driver untuk mengatur arus motor. Pengujian kinerja sistem menunjukkan daya yang dibutuhkan untuk motor pneumatik gas dan rem sebesar 36 watt, serta 72 watt untuk motor DC penggerak setir. Pengujian belokan pada sudut 90° dan pengujian pengereman yang dipersingkat 10 cm setelah kalibrasi menunjukkan kinerja yang sesuai harapan. Pengujian ini mengonfirmasi responsivitas dan akurasi sistem dalam pengoperasian otomatis. Tantangan teknis dalam pengujian, seperti pengaturan sensitivitas sensor dan kalibrasi sistem pneumatik, berhasil diatasi melalui uji coba berulang. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi pada pengembangan otomasi kendaraan di lingkungan pendidikan dan berpotensi untuk pengembangan lebih lanjut, seperti penggunaan sensor LiDAR dan GPS untuk meningkatkan akurasi navigasi. Kata kunci: Penggerak Mobil Buggy Otomatis, Mikrokontroler, ESP32, Sistem Kendali, Otomasi Kendaraan

Abstract

Abstract: The development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has driven progress in electrical device monitoring and control systems, especially in single-phase installations. This research aims to design and implement an Android-based single-phase electrical load monitoring and control system by utilizing the PZEM-004T sensor to measure voltage, current, and power in real-time. This system uses two microcontrollers, namely Arduino Nano as the main processor of sensor data and ESP32 to send data to the Blynk application via a WiFi connection. The Blynk application serves as a user interface, enabling remote monitoring and control of electrical loads through a smartphone. Three PZEM-004T sensors are used to monitor three separate load channels, while a 4-channel relay module acts as an actuator to control the ON/OFF status of each load. The system was tested under various load conditions to verify the accuracy of the sensor readings and the responsiveness of control commands via Blynk. This system is not only effective for monitoring and controlling power usage efficiently, but it also holds great potential as a learning tool in the fields of electronics and IoT-based electrical system applications for residential or laboratory environments. Keywords: Internet of Things, ESP32, PZEM-004T, Load Monitoring, Power Control  Abstrak: Perkembangan teknologi Internet of Things (IoT) telah mendorong kemajuan dalam sistem monitoring dan kontrol perangkat listrik, terutama pada instalasi satu fasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang dan mengimplementasikan sistem monitoring dan kontrol beban listrik satu fasa berbasis Android dengan memanfaatkan sensor PZEM-004T untuk mengukur tegangan, arus, dan daya secara real-time. Sistem ini menggunakan dua mikrokontroler, yaitu Arduino Nano sebagai pengolah utama data sensor dan ESP32 untuk mengirimkan data ke aplikasi Blynk melalui koneksi WiFi. Aplikasi Blynk digunakan sebagai antarmuka pengguna yang memungkinkan monitoring data dan pengendalian beban secara jarak jauh melalui smartphone. Tiga sensor PZEM-004T digunakan untuk memantau tiga saluran beban yang berbeda, sedangkan modul relay 4 channel digunakan sebagai aktuator yang mengontrol status hidup atau mati masing-masing beban. Sistem diuji dengan berbagai variasi kondisi beban untuk memastikan keakuratan pembacaan sensor dan kecepatan respon kontrol melalui Blynk. Sistem ini tidak hanya efektif untuk mengontrol dan memantau penggunaan energi listrik secara efisien, tetapi juga sangat potensial untuk digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran dalam bidang elektronika dan pemanfaatan teknologi IoT pada instalasi listrik rumah tangga atau laboratorium. Kata kunci: Internet of Things, ESP32, PZEM-004T, Monitoring Beban, Kontrol Daya
