Abstract

Kutai Barat have high forest cover and high deforestation rates. The study purpose to make spatial model, potential distribution of deforestation 2020 and 2024, analysis of the drivers of deforestation, compile and map the approach to reducing deforestation. Deforestation modeling done using MaxEnt and Zonation software. Deforestation sample data used from land cover maps 2009, 2013 and 2016. Deforestation rates used to estimate potential deforestation 2020 and 2024. The drivers of deforestation analyze from land cover change matrix. Prevention strategy approach by overlaying potential deforestation modeling results with RTRW maps. The model has good performance with AUC value 0.873. The validation show very good accuracy for the prediction of area to be deforested by 94%, the accuracy of the spatial distribution of the model 31%. Environmental variables have the highest contribution to the model is the distance from previous deforestation 37.4%. The potential of deforestation 2020 is 85,908 ha and 171,778 ha 2024. Oil palm, agriculture, rubber, HTI and mining are the driver of deforestation. Social forestry is expected to prevent potential deforestation 120,861 ha. Others expected programs to contribute to the deforestation reduction are community land intensification 30,316 ha and implementation of the HCV in plantation 20,120 ha.

Abstract

Indonesia adalah salah satu negara dengan perubahan tutupan lahan yang dinamis karena sumber perekonomian negara yang bersumber pada pengelolaan sumber daya berbasis lahan. Di sisi lain, pengelolaan tersebut berdampak negatif seperti konflik sosial dan kerusakan lingkungan. Penelitian ini mengamati pola perubahan tutupan lahan dan mengeksplorasi faktor pendorong penyebab perubahan tersebut pada periode 1990-2019 di Pulau Bengkalis, Indonesia untuk memantau dan menghasilkan informasi yang dapat digunakan sebagai dasar dalam meminimalkan perubahan tutupan lahan yang tidak terkendali. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mempelajari laporan dan penelitian sebelumnya, observasi, dan melaksanakan fokus grup diskusi dan wawancara mendalam. Penelitian ini menggunakan GIS dalam analisis perubahan tutupan dan penggunaan lahan multiwaktu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tutupan hutan alam menurun tajam sejak tahun 1990. Setelah tahun 2000, area kebun campuran lebih luas dibandingkan dengan tutupan hutan alam. Luas areal perkebunan kelapa sawit dan hutan tanaman juga mulai meningkat. Program transmigrasi telah memicu pembukaan lahan besar-besaran di Pulau Bengkalis. Pembukaan lahan oleh transmigran dan krisis ekonomi mendorong pembukaan lahan yang lebih besar oleh transmigran spontan.

Abstract

Every single physical object has a different response to the electromagnetic wave emitted to it. The response is in the form of how it absorbs and reflects the energy in every range of wavelength. The absorption and reflection curve is known as a spectral pattern. The spectral pattern of each object can be used to determine the object. In agriculture, the spectral pattern of plants can be used to determine the health condition of the plant. Drought is one factor that can affect the health of the plant. By identifying the spectral pattern of the plants, the effect of drought on paddy can be identified. This experimental study tried to identify the spectral pattern of some varieties of paddy and different growth stages. A spectrophotometer with a wavelength range of 350-1052 nm was used. Four varieties of paddy were planted in a greenhouse and being treated in drought conditions from the stage of vegetative, generative, and reproductive. Based on the result, the spectral response from the generative phase of all varieties gave the most different pattern compared to the control. This result compromising the rapid detection of paddy fields affected by drought using optical remote sensing data. Especially for plants in the stage of generative.

Abstract

Abstract. Remote sensing is composed of many interrelated processes to be able to consider physical objects such as buildings, land, and plants which are objects that can be discussed by applications discussed in various disciplines that discuss geology, forestry, soil science, and geography. The use of GIS and remote sensing for fire monitoring has been widely used. However, this study is the first study conducted in the TNBS area after the Berbak National Park (TNB) in Jambi to join the Sembilang National Park (TNS) in South Sumatra. Hotspot distribution in this study was obtained using Getis-Ord-Gi * statistics, hotspot data collected from 2000-2018 in the TNBS area. The results of the hotspot distribution during the 2000-2018 recorded by MODIS satellites with time acquisition and statistical analysis using Gi* show the results that the hotspots gathered (80% confidence level) outside the TNBS area, which is a mixed fields area. Further studies on causes of fire in terms of socio-economic and cultural needs to be done to get the right advice in reducing the risk of loss of forest cover and diversity in TNBS. Abstract

The structure of agricultural landscape, both of its composition and configuration can affect the presence of predators and parasitoids, and influence the effectiveness of biological control. This study was aimed to examine the relationship between landscape structure and the diversity of Hymenoptera parasitoids in long bean fields in Bogor, West Java. In total, six long bean fields were selected and quantified within a radius 500 m from long bean field. In each long bean field, Hymenoptera parasitoids were sampled in a 50 m x 25 m plot using direct observation. The research result found 283 individuals of Hymenoptera parasitoids belong to 9 families and 31 species. Based on the Mantel test, the landscape structure did not affect the species composition of parasitoids in long bean. However, at class scale, landscape composition especially crop field and semi-natural habitat have an effect on parasitoid abundance. Agricultural landscape with higher patch number of crop fields tends to have higher parasitoid abundance. It indicates that landscape composition at class scale is more affected to Hymenoptera parasitoids than at landscape scale.

Abstract

Ekosistem hutan dataran rendah memiliki peranan penting bagi konservasi keanekaragaman hayati. Fragmentasi yang menyebabkan terpecah-pecahnya hutan alam dan memicu terjadinya efek tepi telah menjadi kendala dalam pelestarian populasi. Memahami pengaruh habitat tepi terhadap ukuran kelompok surili (Presbytis comata) dan tersedianya data kepadatan populasi sangat penting dalam konservasi populasi. Ukuran kelompok dapat menjadi indikator kualitas habi-tat. Akan tetapi, respon kelompok terhadap tepi hutan belum banyak diketahui dan informasi kepadatan populasi surili pada ekosistem hutan dataran rendah juga masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis ukuran kelompok surili (Presbytis comata), pengaruh tepi hutan terhadap ukuran kelompok, dan kepadatan populasi surili. Pengumpulan data dilakukan pada tutupan hutan yang mencakup hutan alam, hutan tanaman, dan kebun campuran, dengan total panjang jalur 59 km di kelompok hutan Gunung Subang, Kabupaten Kuningan. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa ukuran ke-lompok surili bervariasi dari 2 sampai 22 dengan rata-rata 8,52 individu. Rata-rata ukuran kelompok surili tidak berubah sejalan dengan bertambahnya jarak dari tepi hutan. Kepadatan populasi surili pada interval kepercayaan 95% berkisar 44,39 – 82,36 dengan rata 60,47 ind/km2. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi pertimbangan dalam penyusunan strategi konservasi populasi surili pada ekosistem hutan dataran rendah yang merupakan kumpulan dari sisa hutan alam, hutan tanaman, dan kebun campuran.

Abstract

It is common for ethnic Malay in Indonesia and Malaysia to use Nepenthes ampullaria as food containers. However, the use of Nepenthes as part of a cultural tradition has been found only in Kerinci Regency, Jambi. This study explores the local wisdom in utilizing and maintaining the presence of N. ampullaria in Kerinci. Data collection through open-ended and deep interviews through participatory observation methods. Data analysis and presentation are delivered descriptively. Lemang is a compulsory item to be served in traditional ceremonies of kenduri sko. There are two types of lemang in Kerinci, lemang bamboo and lemang kancung beruk. The latter is found only during the kenduri sko tradition in Kecamatan Gunung Raya and Bukit Kerman. Therefore, the existence of lemang kancung beruk in these two sub-districts has become obligatory and has no other comparable substitute. In Gunung Raya and Bukit Kerman, the Kenduri sko is held four times a year. The need for N. ampullaria for kenduri sko in these two sub-districts is enormous. For the event, each household needs at least 500 to 2000 pitchers of N. ampullaria. The people of Kerinci harvest N. ampullaria directly from the wild to fulfill the need. The population of N. ampullaria that still survives in its natural habitat is evidence of the success of the local community in maintaining the existence of N. ampullaria in Kerinci. Method and schedule arrangements can allow the population of N. ampullaria to recover. Key words: Nepenthes, Kenduri sko, Lemang kancung beruk

Abstract

Bali starling (Leucopsar rothschildi) is categorized as an endangered species based on the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) red list. Thus, preventing this species from extinction becomes very crucial. One of the most important activities for this purpose is a soft release method to avoid birds' mortality, which has been done in West Bali National Park (WBNP). However, this method creates the dependency of birds to the artificial treatment and may affect the distribution of Bali starling. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the population and habitat and create a habitat suitability index model for Bali starling in WBNP. Data were obtained by surveying the Bali starling population, including the number of individuals, distribution, age structure, sex ratio, natality, and mortality. Vegetation analysis was also conducted to determine habitat conditions. Finally, map interpretation data was used to develop a suitable habitat model for Bali starling in WBNP. The results showed that 63 Bali starling were found near the resort office, bird release sites, and binding bird cages. It indicated that the habitat of Bali starling has shifted from the soft release site. The habitat suitability index model of Bali starling in WBNP was Y = 17.145 + 6.640PC1 - 4.055PC2, showing the selected variables only give a moderate determination coefficient (R2 = 40.9%). The artificial treatment created by the WBNP authority seems to be another great factor influencing the existence and distribution of Bali starling in WBNP. It was also indicated that Bali starling could breed in the WBNP, but it tends to have a shifting habitat in the wild. Abstract

Pulau Sulawesi merupakan pusat wilayah Wallacea yang memiliki keanekaragaman hayati tinggi dan dihuni oleh beberapa spesies tumbuhan dan hewan endemik baik flora maupun fauna, salah satunya satwa primata monyet dare (Macaca maura HR Schinz 1825). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesesuaian habitat dan pengaruh variabel lingkungan terhadap habitat monyet dare di kawasan Taman Nasional Bantimurung Bulusaraung. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan membangun model pendekatan distribusi spesies menggunakan Maxent ver. 3.4.4. yang dapat membantu melakukan analisis model kesesuaian habitat dalam skala luas dengan cara mengolah data kehadiran spesies dan variabel lingkungan yang diduga memengaruhi kehadiran spesies. Hasil pengolahan data dalam membangun model kesesuaian habitat untuk monyet dare, didapatkan data kehadiran spesies sebanyak 191 titik. Sedangkan variabel lingkungan yang digunakan berupa tutupan lahan, ketinggian, kelerengan, suhu, jarak dari sungai, jarak dari jalan, dan jarak dari areal pertanian. Hasil analisis jackknife pada variabel yang berpengaruh terhadap hasil model menunjukkan bahwa variabel yang berkontribusi tinggi adalah variabel tutupan lahan (Bio_5) kemudian diikuti, jarak dari jalan (Bio_1), jarak dari areal pertanian (Bio_4) dan jarak dari sungai (Bio_2). Besaran persentase kontribusi variabel lingkungan terhadap keberadaan monyet dare yakni tutupan lahan (35,1%), jarak dari jalan (32,2%), jarak dari areal pertanian (13,1%), jarak dari sungai (12,1%), kelerengan (3,6%), ketinggian (2,6%) dan suhu (1,3%). Nilai AUC model kesesuaian habitat monyet dare sebesar 0,893 dengan standar deviasi ±0,015, merupakan model prediksi yang layak (reasonable predictions) dengan luas areal habitat yang sesuai 138,43 km2 (20%) dan yang tidak sesuai 538,44 km2 (80%). Luas areal habitat yang sesuai terbagi atas 3 yakni kelas kesesuaian rendah 90,11 km2 (65%), kelas kesesuaian sedang 25,58 km2 (18%) dan kelas kesesuaian tinggi 22,74 km2 (16%). Rendahnya luas areal habitat yang sesuai dibanding habitat yang tidak sesuai, serta besarnya luas areal kesesuaian rendah dibanding sedang dan tinggi, dapat menggambarkan bahwa ancaman dari keberadaan monyet dare masih tergolong tinggi.

Abstract

Bekantan (Nasalis larvatus) adalah satwa primata langka dilindungi yang populasinya terus mengalami penurunan akibat hilang dan rusaknya habitat. Delta Berau adalah salah satu lokasi penyebaran bekantan yang berada di luar kawasan konservasi yang kurang mendapat perhatian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui populasi dan sebaran bekantan di Delta Berau dan sekitarnya. Perhitungan populasi dilakukan secara langsung dari sungai (boat survey) pada pagi dan sore hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 1.350-1.774 ekor bekantan yang terbagi dalam 115 kelompok satu-jantan, 5 kelompok semua-jantan, 1 soliter, dan 5 kelompok tidak teridentifikasi. Faktor koreksi sebagai pengali populasi tertinggi pada habitat riparian dan mangrove masing-masing sebesar 1,33 dan 1,27. Kepadatan populasi bekantan secara umum adalah 6,56 ekor/km2(kisaran: 0,91-93,33) atau 0,59 kelompok/km2(kisaran: 0,13-9,17). Nisbah kelamin kelompok satu-jantan pada tipe habitat riparian dan habitat mangrove masing-masing sebesar 1:5,6 dan 1:6,1. Sebaran bekantan tertinggi berada di wilayah Kampung Pulau Besing (Pulau Besing, Pulau Bungkung, dan Pulau Sambuayan), yaitu sebanyak 42 kelompok 426 ekor atau sebesar 32% dari total populasi bekantan. Populasi bekantan yang tinggi menunjukkan bahwa Delta Berau adalah habitat penting bagi bekantan di Indonesia. Inisiasi pengelolaan habitat bekantan sebagai Kawasan Ekosistem Esensial (KEE) diperlukan, selain perlindungan bekantan secara lokal oleh masyarakat adat setempat sekaligus sebagai upaya melindungi sumber daya perikanan di sekitarnya.
