Abstract

Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae. Poor preventive management can lead to progressive leprosy. Kupang City is in the first place to contribute 52 cases of leprosy. Regular treatment is very important to cure leprosy. Non-adherence to taking the medication regularly results in resistance to MDT which can lead to fatal disability. This study aimed to analyze internal dan external factors related to medication adherence to leprosy patients in Kupang City in 2019. This is a cross-sectional study. Sample in this study as many as 52 people with leprosy. The analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. Results shows knowledge (p = 0.00), family role (p = 0.033), the role of health workers (0.008), and leprosy reactions (p = 0.004) related to medication adherence. But attitude (p = 0.471) is not related to medication adherence. It is suggested to the Kupang City Health Office to collaborate with administrators of infectious disease programs, especially leprosy so that they can socialize with families and communities to motivate patients for taking medication.

Abstract

The use of latrines for rural communities is a health behaviour problem that needs constant attention due to the inefficient use of healthy latrines. Both internal and external factors influence the use of the latrine. The study purposed to analyze family behaviour factors using latrines in Mundek Village, Northwest Rote District, Rote Ndao Regency. This research was an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design. The sample was 72 people determined based on a simple random technique. The data analysis consisted of univariable analysis and bivariable analysis using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between the level of knowledge (0.021), attitude (0.000), water availability (0.001) and the use of latrines. On the other hand, there was no relationship between gender (0.796), an education level (0.259) and latrines in Mundek Village, Northwest Rote district, Rote Ndao Regency. Therefore, stakeholders should undertake intensive health promotion to increase the local community's knowledge and change negative attitudes towards healthy latrines utilization.

Abstract

Sanitation and personal hygiene in the preparation and distribution of food are essential to food traders in order to avoid causing the contamination of microorganisms in food. One cause of food insecurity is the contamination of food with toxins produced by the fungus Aspergillus flavus. Meatballs are a popular food in the Indonesian community and are always served together with tomato sauce. Those who often pay no attention to personal hygiene, merchandise, tools, and their surroundings can potentially be contaminated by the fungus Aspergillus flavus. The study was to identify the sanitation and personal hygiene of the workers and the properties of the fungus Aspergillus flavus on the meaty tomato sauce used in the Oebobo District of Kupang City. This study aims to determine the description of the sanitation and personal hygiene of the handlers and the content of Aspergillus flavus in tomato sauce for meatball trade in Oebobo District, Kupang City. This study used a descriptive research method with a cross-sectional design. The sample of this study consisted of 10 meatball traders and 10 tomato sauce for meatball merchants in Oebobo District, Kupang City. The results of the study most of the respondents had poor hygiene, namely 5 respondents. A total of 4 respondents had good sanitation equipment and 4 respondents had poor sanitation in the premises. From the results of laboratory tests, there were 2 samples of tomato sauce containing the fungus Aspergillus flavus. The conclusion from the results of this study there were 2 positive samples of the Aspergillus flavus fungus. This is most likely because the two respondents have poor hygiene, equipment sanitation, and sanitary premises that do not meet health requirements.

Abstract

Kelor plants may be an alternative to a potential source of protein and calcium to satisfy the need for nourishment in pregnant mothers and infants. Food diversification can be made by making foods that contain high calcium from the calcium intake contained in fish bones. Pregnant women are one group that is very at risk of experiencing malnutrition. During pregnancy, the need for nutritional intake increases, but it is not balanced with the consumption of sufficient nutritious food. Kelor-processing development with the addition of fish bones may be an alternative to the treatment of nutrient deficiency problems mainly in pregnant mothers and infants. This study aims to determine the effect of adding Moringa leaf flour with tembang fish bone meal to the physicochemical properties and acceptability of biscuits. The research conducted was an experimental study using factorial completely randomized design (CRD), namely conducting an experiment in making biscuits with wheat flour as a base ingredient by adding Moringa leaf flour and fishbone meal with treatment levels of 0%, 10%, 20% and 30%. The results showed that the addition of Moringa leaf flour with tembang fish bone meal had an effect on calcium (p=0,00), phosphorus content (p=0,00), moisture content (p=0,520), ash content (p=0,00), hardness test (p=0,152), taste (p=0,00), aroma (p=0,00) and texture (p=0,043), and had no effect on color (p=0,743) acceptability. For further researchers it is recommended to continue further research with other nutritional content related to meeting the nutritional needs of pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and infants as well as all circles of society.

Abstract

Stunting merupakan kondisi kronis yang menggambarkan terhambatnya pertumbuhan karena malnutrisi jangka panjang yang ditandai dengan indeks panjang badan dibanding umur (PB/U) atau tinggi badan dibanding umur (TB/U) dengan batas z-score kurang dari -2 SD. Kejadian stunting pada balita disebabkan karena perilaku ibu yang kurang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perilaku ibu dalam halnya pengetahuan, sikap dan tindakan dalam pemberian ASI eksklusif dan MP-ASI terhadap kejadian stunting di Kelurahan Naioni Kota Kupang. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah observasi analitik dengan rancangan case control­. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 60 ibu yang memiliki anak balita yang dibagi menjadi 30 untuk balita stunting dan 30 untuk balita normal di Kelurahan Naioni Kota Kupang. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis univariabel dan analisis bivariabel, dengan uji statistik chi-square. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap kejadian stunting adalah pengetahuan ASI eksklusif p=0,041, OR=4,333, sikap pemberian ASI p=0,000, OR=18,000, tindakan pemberian ASI p=0,000, OR=13,143, pengetahuan MP-ASI p=0,003, OR=10,706, sikap pemberian MP-ASI p=0,000, OR= 11,667 dan tindakan pemberian MP-ASI p=0,002, OR= 6,417. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah stunting berhubungan dengan perilaku ibu dalam pemberian ASI dan pemberian MP-ASI di Kelurahan Naioni Kota Kupang

Abstract

Breakfast is an activity of eating and drinking which is done in the morning before doing daily activities. A good breakfast consists of food sources of energy, building blocks, and sources of regulators. The benefit of breakfast is to increase concentration because the food consumed can increase blood glucose levels in blood circulation in the brain so that it can concentrate properly. The purpose of this study was to determine the determinants of breakfast habits of SD Inpres Fatukoa students, Kupang City. Analytic research with a cross-sectional design is the method used. All students in grades 4, 5, and 6 at SD Inpres Fatukoa, Maulafa District, Kupang City, with a total of 203 participants, were included in the study. The research sample amounted to 134 samples with a simple random sampling technique. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between gender where p.value = 0.000 <α (0.05), knowledge p.value = 0.000 <α (0.05) and parental rules p.value = 0.001 <α (0.05) with the habit of having breakfast in the students of SD Inpres Fatukoa, Kupang City. It is expected for parents to always prepare breakfast for their children with a nutritious and balanced nutritional breakfast for their children before leaving for school so that children can concentrate on studying at school and for the education office to provide input to be able to develop programs for health and nutrition education materials in the school curriculum. Abstract

Nutritional problems in children under five are still a major public health problem, especially in Indonesia. Toddlers who are malnourished in Southwest Sumba Regency in 2017 amounted to 907 cases(9,4 %); in 2018 increased to 939 cases(9,8 %)and in 2019 decreased to 348 cases(4,2%). At the Tena Teke Community Health Center, with the nutritional status of toddlers, there were 53 cases, increasing to 55 cases in 2018 and 2019, decreasing to 36 cases. The decline is known to prevent cases of malnutrition, but the figure is still quite high. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between parenting patterns and food intake with the nutritional status of children under five in the working area of ​​the Tena Teke Health Center. This type of research used analytical survey research methods. The research design used was a case-control study. Case samples were 37 people, and control samples were 37 people. The results showed that all the variables studied, namely feeding practices (OR = 34,105), personal hygiene practices (OR = 11,963), food preparation and storage (OR = 6,286), energy intake (0R= 0,221), and protein intake (OR= 17,188) associated with the nutritional status of toddlers. Toddlers' mothers should regularly attend Posyandu and actively seek information related to toddler growth. Keywords: food intake, nutritional status, toddler

Abstract

Masa balita merupakan periode penting dalam proses pembentukan dan perkembangan manusia yang ditandai dengan tumbuh kembang yang sangat pesat. Periode ini merupakan periode yang kritis bagi anak-anak dimana terjadi pertumbuhan yang akan berpengaruh pada perkembangan periode berikutnya. Kebutuhan zat gizi pada masa ini sangat tinggi untuk mendukung proses pertumbuhan dan perkembangan balita selama kehidupan janin dan 2 tahun pertama setelah lahir. Gizi kurang dan kesehatan yang buruk pada balita selama periode tersebut akan memberikan dampak buruk kehidupan bayi di masa mendatang yang bersifat permanen dan tidak dapat dikoreksi, sehingga diperlukan pemenuhan gizi yang adekuat pada rentang usia ini. Pola asuh ibu dalam mengatur konsumsi pangan keluarga sangat menentukan kecukupan asupan gizi seorang anak. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertemakan : peningkatan pengetahuan ibu rumah tangga melalui kegiatan pelatihan pengolahan biskuit PMT lokal dalam mendukung upaya preventif masalah gizi buruk di wilayah lahan kering kepulauan Rote Ndao. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di Desa Helebeik Puskesmas Baa Kabupaten Rote Ndao dengan tujuan untuk memberikan dukungan pengetahuan ibu rumah tangga tentang memanfaatkan pangan local menjadi produk biscuit bergizi sebagai makanan selingan kaya gizi. Target atau Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah : Kelompok Ibu hamil dan ibu-ibu yang mempunyai anak balita. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada 7-8 Oktober 2022 dengan jumlah peserta penyuluhan sebanyak 35 orang ibu (Ibu hamil dan ibu balita). Adapun informasi yang akan diberikan adalah informasi tentang langkah penting dalam menyiapkan makanan selingan yang beragam, bergizi, seimbang, dan aman dari cemaran mikroba untuk anggota keluarga terutama anak balita. Sehingga, diharapkan dari kegiatan ini semua ibu balita mengetahui cara memilih dan menyiapkan makanan termasuk mengolah biscuit menjadi makanan bergizi bagi keluarga. Metode pelaksanaan kagiatan ini adalah “Penyuluhan Masyarakat” berbentuk penyuluhan yang bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman dalam bidang kesehatan dan lingkup terkait didalamnya sehingga menyadarkan masyarakat akan pentingnya memelihara kesehatan dan hidup sehat. Menurut Wahjuti (2014) bahwa metode penyuluhan yang dilakukan dengan pendekatan kelompok seperti : Ceramah dan Demonstrasi Cara/Hasil. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah ibu balita dan ibu hamil dapat mengetahui cara mengolah pangan lokal menjadi makanan selingan (biscuit) yang bergizi; terjadinya perubahan pengetahuan, presepsi dan tindakan dari ibu rumah tangga tentang pemanfaatan dan pemberian makanan beragam, bergizi, sehat, dan aman berbasis pangan lokal.

Abstract

The World Population Review in 2021 show that smoking rates are highest in Southeast Asia and South Asia and tend to be very high in men compared to women. Kiribati has the highest smoking rate in the world with 52.40% and Indonesia has smoking rate 39.90%. The results of Riskesdas in 2018 show that the number of active smokers every day in Indonesia is 24.3% and NTT Province is ranked 19th as the province with the highest proportion of the population smoking and chewing tobacco with a percentage of 11.7%. E-cigarettes can cause addiction. The American FDA conducted a study on the liquid content of e-cigarettes which stated that e-cigarettes contain Tobacco Specific Nitrosamine (TSNA) which is toxic and Diethylene Glycil (DEG) or as carcinogens. Factors related to the use of e-cigarettes are peer interaction factors, family members who use e-cigarettes, cigarette advertisements, and lifestyle. This study aims to determine the description of the determinants that affect the use of e-cigarettes in the Kupang Vapers community in 2021. This research method is a descriptive study using a cross sectional design. This research was carried out from March to April 2021. The sample was 80. The data analysis used was univariate. The results of this study indicate that most respondents have a good level of knowledge, have an accepting attitude, have good actions, have a high income level, have available facilities and infrastructure, have family members who smoke, respondents are not affected by cigarette advertisements, and are not influenced by peers.

Abstract

Abstrak Penganekaragaman pangan menjadi salah satu pilar utama dalam mewujudkan ketahanan pangan menuju kemandirian dan kedaulatan pangan. Kenyataannya sampai saat ini, pola konsumsi pangan masyarakat masih menunjukan kecenderungan kurang beragam dari jenis pangan dan keseimbangan gizinya. Secara umum, kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengarahkan anak-anak sekolah minggu dan pemuda untuk :Berpartisipasi aktif dalam melakukan tindakan preventif terhadap peluang munculnya masalah kekurangan gizi, dan menghindari dampak kejadian covid-19. Meningkatkan pengetahuan, pemahaman, dan perilaku anak-anak dan pemuda tentang B2SA (Beragam, Bergizi, Seimbang dan Aman). Mendukung program pemerintah daerah dalam menjaga dan meningkatkan derajat kesehatan masyarakat. Pelaksanaan pengumpulan data dalam pengabdian ini menggunakan jenis Eksplorasi dengan kombinasi rancangan Observasi dan Cross cectional Study. Kegiatan Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 26 Mei 2021 dengan lokasi kegiatan Jemaat Marturia Oesapa Selatan, Kota Kupang. Adapun target pelaksanaan kegiatan adalah kelompok Anak-anak sekolah minggu dan Pemuda di Jemaat Marturia Oesapa Selatan, Kota Kupang yang berdasarkan data survei sebanyak 100 orang. Peserta dapat memahami materi yang disampaikan. Ditandai dengan keaktifan dalam diskusi dan pencarian topik-topik baru yang berkaitan dengan Covid-19. Abstract Food diversity is a main base in perform food security to independent and sovereignty. Actually, community food pattern still in not diverse in kind and balancing nutrition. This community service activity is aim to direct child and teenager in Sunday school to participate actively in prevent malnutrition problem and avoid covid19 impact. Increase knowledge and behaviour about Diverse, Nutrition, Balancing and Secure (DNBS). Support governmental program to keep and increase community health level. Tha data was collected exploratively with observation and cross sectional combination. This service was held in May 26th 2021, located in Marturia church Oesapa Selatan, Kota Kupang. Objected children and teenager of this church about 100 persons. They can get the content was given.
