Abstract

This study intends to analyze methane gas emissions resulting in landfill procedures. The magnitude of the impact of methane gas emissions on global warming from the waste sector, it is necessary to calculate the potential amount of methane gas emissions of Padang city waste in the Air Dingin Landfill so that it can be used for new energy potential as an alternative energy to replace fossil fuels no longer as a contributor to global warming. In this study, the methodology contains systematic steps in researching to achieve research objectives, namely conducting preliminary studies and literature studies, formulating problems, and setting research objectives as well as how to collect and obtain research data. The result of this study is that the Air DIngin Landfill in Padang City is still processing open dumping, with land that has been operated around 50% of the existing land area. The high operational costs are one of the reasons the sanitary landfill system cannot be done by the Padang City Government. Methane gas produced from 2020 - 2031 in the Air Dingin Landfill is produced from scenario 1 (waste directly landfilled) which is 43,289 gigagrams of CH4 or 43,289 tons of CH4 emissions. CH4 emission scenario 2 (waste reduction by waste pickers in landfill) produced 43,267 gigagrams or 43,267 tons of CH4. CH4 emission scenario 3 (Reduction of waste at source, in the region, and in landfill) produced 40,944 gigagrams CH 4 or 40,944 tons of CH4. After converting methane gas into electrical energy, the potential electricity in scenario 1 is 84.15 megawatts, scenario 2 is 84.10 megawatts and scenario 3 is 79.59 megawatts in 2031.

Abstract

This study aims to demonstrate the effect of a running and jumping game model in improving physical motor impairments in children with intellectual disabilities. A pre-experimental design method was used, involving 15 male children aged 11-12 years with intellectual disabilities, who were selected through purposive sampling. The running and jumping game model was conducted for 30 minutes per session, with moderate intensity (60-70% HRmax), three times a week for four weeks. Data collection involved measuring motor skill development, namely running speed and jump height, between pretest and posttest using a 40-meter run test and vertical jump test. Data analysis was conducted using a paired sample t-test with a 5% confidence level. The results showed a significant difference in running speed between pretest and posttest (8.98±0.07 vs. 7.66±0.09 seconds; p=0.001). Similarly, jump height analysis showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest (21.57±0.98 vs. 31.43±1.72 cm; p=0.001). This proves that the running and jumping game model effectively improves motor skills impairments in children with intellectual disabilities.

Abstract

Bus accidents continue to contribute significantly to global transportation fatality statistics, particularly in developing countries where human factors and infrastructure conditions play a major role. A comprehensive synthesis of bus superstructure crashworthiness technologies is presented by tracing their evolution from basic regulatory compliance toward the challenges of future technological adaptation. While the UN ECE R66 standard has established a well-defined framework for rollover protection, a review of the literature reveals a substantial gap in frontal impact standards, leading to the adoption of truck regulations (UN ECE R29) that are often incompatible with the flat-front geometry of buses. The discussion focuses on recent findings related to validated virtual testing methodologies, innovative structural reinforcement strategies such as seat-to-pillar integration, and the critical role of occupant restraint systems in mitigating secondary injuries. Furthermore, the transition toward electric buses is identified as introducing new challenges associated with high-voltage battery protection and the brittle failure characteristics of lightweight composite materials. It is concluded that future safety paradigms must evolve beyond merely preserving occupant survival space toward a holistic approach that integrates structural optimization, occupant biomechanics, and energy storage system protection.

Abstract

Competency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) 3D–based design is a vital foundation in modern vocational engineering education. However, a major challenge in practice is the lack of uniform competency standards among teaching staff, where intuitive modeling practices are often found that are not fully defined, resulting in low design data integrity. This program aims to standardize such technical competencies through intensive training based on the Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) curriculum. The program was conducted entirely in an offline setting over 65 instructional hours, covering fundamental topics ranging from design intent philosophy and parametric sketching to assembly validation using standard mates. The results demonstrate a perfect quantitative outcome, with 100% of participants successfully passing the examination and obtaining the international CSWA certification. This success indicates that structured training interventions are effective in equalizing participants’ competencies. The strategic implication of this program is the establishment of a uniform teaching standard among vocational lecturers, which ultimately ensures that graduates possess digital design literacy aligned with modern industrial best practices.

Abstract

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), as new antibiotic candidates, have the potential to treat infectious diseases. Peptides from N. kaouthia venom proteins can be used to produce AMP. The aim of this study was to identify the antibacterial potential of peptides derived from N. kaouthia venom protein purified by a reverse-phase solid-phase extraction column (SPE C18). N. kaouthia venom protein was isolated using Amicon® Ultra-15 with a 3000 Da centrifugal filter and then hydrolyzed using trypsin. The hydrolyzate was fractionated using reverse-phase (SPE C18), and the resulting fraction was tested for its antibacterial activity against S. aureus (Gram-positive) and E. coli (Gram-negative) bacteria. The most active fraction as an antibacterial was analyzed by high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS). The results showed that the 50% methanol fraction was active against E. coli bacteria, and the 100% methanol fraction was active against S. aureus. There are seven peptides identified, namely TVPVKR, TTMMNMLK, WWSDHR, SSLLVK, NSLLVK, LIPIASK, and GALMLK, which are responsible for the activity of the 50% methanol fraction. Meanwhile, there are two peptides, namely SSLLVK and NSLLVK, responsible for the activity of the 100% methanol fraction. LIPIASK and GALMLK peptides are predicted to show better potential as antimicrobial peptides.
