Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of college students' or counselees' satisfaction on the outcomes of counseling services at one of the universities in Yogyakarta. The type of research is cross-sectional, with 119 counselees as the research samples. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The data collection technique was carried out by giving two questionnaires to counselees using counseling services after they completed their counseling. Questionnaire 1 contains questions regarding satisfaction with counseling services, while Questionnaire 2 contains perceived counseling results. Descriptive analysis and Spearman correlation test were carried out in this study. The results showed that 74% of clients stated they were satisfied with the services they received, and 78.2% said they would recommend the services to others. The results of the correlation test produced a coefficient of 0.588 (p<0.005), which shows a significant relationship between the client's satisfaction and the counseling outcome. Counselees feel satisfied and gain new insight from the counseling services. Counselees also found their strength, felt more hopeful, and overcame their problems after attending counseling services. The level of client satisfaction is not just a subjective statement of satisfaction but is accompanied by a real impact or result of counseling. Therefore, counseling services in higher education need to be provided, which has led to significant changes for the counselees.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the relationship between online game addiction and social interaction and its implications for students' enthusiasm for learning. This research used a quantitative approach with a survey method involving 100 Surakarta students selected through purposive sampling. The instrument used to measure Social Interaction was adapted from  (2024) with a reliability coefficient (alpha) of 0.915. And the Online Game Addiction Scale, adapted fromArua et al., (2023) with a reliability coefficient (alpha) of 0.853. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, assumption tests, Pearson correlation, t-test, and coefficient of determination. The results showed that the majority of respondents had a moderate level of online gaming addiction, with a significant negative correlation between gaming addiction and social interaction. Addiction rates were higher in men than women. Interventions should target social and individual contexts, combining education and social support to reduce online gaming addiction among students. Students addicted to online games tend to spend more time in the virtual world; this can divert students' enthusiasm from learning activities. Students become less focused, get tired quickly, or lose enthusiasm for learning because more time and energy is devoted to playing games.

Abstract

This study emphasizes the importance of emotional management among junior high school students, particularly during adolescence—a developmental phase marked by significant emotional changes. Emotional intelligence is crucial for students’ social adaptation, communication, and academic success. To address the emotional and social challenges faced by students, this research applies psychodrama techniques as a group guidance method to help develop students’ emotional intelligence. The study employed a quantitative approach using a nonequivalent control group experimental design. The sample consisted of 16 students from SMP Negeri 1 Kota Ternate and SMP Negeri 7 Kota Ternate, selected through purposive sampling based on low levels of emotional intelligence. The participants were divided into two groups: an experimental group that received group guidance using psychodrama techniques and a control group that did not receive the intervention. Data were collected using an emotional intelligence scale with Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient of 0.762. Measurements were conducted before and after the intervention, and data analysis used the N-gain score to assess changes in emotional intelligence. The results showed a significant improvement in the emotional intelligence of students in the experimental group, with an N-gain score of 0.75, indicating a high level of effectiveness. These findings demonstrate that psychodrama is an effective technique for enhancing students’ emotional intelligence, helping them better understand emotions, build empathy, and develop interpersonal skills. This study contributes valuable insights into school guidance practices and supports the use of psychodrama as an innovative method to foster students’ emotional, social, and academic development.
