Abstract

Student interest in choosing the economics teacher profession is still relatively low. This problem is proven through pre-research data and unstructured interviews which show that most students do not have a strong interest in working as economics teachers. The low interest is suspected to be influenced by various factors, both from within and outside. This study aims to analyze the influence of Growth Mindset, Family Environment, School Field Introduction (PLP), and Student Perception of the Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG) on interest in becoming an economics teacher in East Java. This study uses a quantitative approach with data collection techniques through questionnaires distributed online. The research sample amounted to 191 S1 Economics Education students class of 2022 from the State University of Surabaya, the State University of Malang, and the University of Jember who were selected using purposive sampling techniques. The research data was analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results of the study showed that partially growth mindset, family environment, introduction to the school field, and students' perception of the PPG program had a positive and significant effect on interest in becoming an economics teacher. Simultaneously, the four independent variables have a significant effect on interest in becoming an economics teacher. These findings suggest that the support of internal and external factors together is needed to increase students' interest in becoming economics teachers.

Abstract

Integrating local wisdom into education systems is crucial for preserving cultural identity and enhancing educational quality in the modern era. Madura Island possesses traditional values potentially applicable to pedagogical project management. However, the effective utilization of these values in contemporary pedagogical project management remains poorly understood. Existing research predominantly focuses on specific aspects of the curriculum or teaching methods, such as integrating cultural values into learning materials, employing local wisdom-based teaching methods, and adopting learning approaches contextual to Madurese culture. Still, there is a noticeable gap in the literature regarding how Madurese local wisdom values can be systematically operationalized in education project management, including planning processes that involve local stakeholders, implementation that respects local customs, and evaluation methods rooted in local values. To explore how Madurese cultural values can be effectively utilized in pedagogical project management to create a more in-depth and contextually relevant approach, this study employed a mixed-method approach with a sequential explanatory design. The first phase involved a quantitative survey of 230 education stakeholders in Madura using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The second phase included in-depth interviews and participatory observations in five schools, analyzed using NVivo 14. SEM results revealed a significant positive relationship between the integration of Madurese local wisdom values and pedagogical project management effectiveness. Qualitative analysis showed these values strengthen decision-making structures and community commitment to educational projects. This research demonstrates that incorporating Madurese local wisdom values can enhance pedagogical project management effectiveness, making an important contribution to developing a contextualized and sustainable pedagogical project management model. This model has potential applications across various cultural contexts in Indonesia and globally. By adopting this model, education in Madura is expected to be not only more effective but also rich with local cultural values, creating a deep and meaningful learning experience for students.

Abstract

The most students pursuing undergraduate degrees in Economics education are hesitant to pursue a career in teaching, primarily due to inadequate preparation and a lack of interest in the teaching profession after completing their undergraduate studies. This study aims to determine the influence of teaching practices, perceptions of the teaching profession, and teaching interest on students' readiness to become teachers. This study also examines whether teaching interest has a mediating effect in this relationship. Using a quantitative approach and involving 106 Economics Education students at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Semarang State University (UNESA) were selected used proportional random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SEM-PLS. The results showed that teaching practices and students' perceptions of the teaching profession had a significant on their readiness to become teachers (p-value < 0.05). However, teaching interest did not significantly influence readiness itself (p-value = 0.170), nor did it mediate the influence of other factors (p > 0.05). The current study can be a reference for building professional readiness of teachers that is more contextual to educational needs and pays attention to teaching practices as a dominant factor in improving readiness to become and encourage the development of a new conceptual framework that combines affective, cognitive, and empirical aspects in a more balanced way in explaining readiness to become teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impact of digital technology on innovation and personalization in learning through bibliometric analysis using the VOSviewer software. The methodology employed is a literature review based on a bibliometric approach, where data was obtained from Google Scholar using the Publish or Perish application and further analyzed using VOSviewer. A total of 99 relevant articles from the period 2023 to 2025 were reviewed to identify topic trends, author collaboration patterns, and the frequency of key terms in academic literature. The analysis results show that terms such as “learning,” “technology,” and “personalization” are dominant themes divided into five main clusters based on thematic proximity. Through network visualization, overlays, and density, it is evident that the topics of innovation and personalization in digital technology-based learning are increasingly becoming the focus of academic research. Additionally, this study found that the use of digital technology can enhance the learning process, making it more creative, interactive, and adaptive, supported by platforms such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), Quizizz, and AI-based chatbots. These findings contribute as an intellectual map in digital education studies and as a critical reflection on the implementation of innovative technology-based learning

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Self-Regulated Learning and Self-Efficacy on the Academic Performance of participants in the ECOLY 2025 Economics Olympiad. Preliminary observations indicated that several participants experienced difficulties in managing learning strategies, time allocation, and confidence when facing competition tasks. A quantitative approach was employed using an online questionnaire distributed to 44 ECOLY 2025 participants. The collected data were analyzed through multiple linear regression. The findings revealed that Self-Regulated Learning had no significant effect on Academic Performance (t = 0.909; Sig. = 0.369), while Self-Efficacy also showed no significant effect (t = 0.158; Sig. = 0.875). Simultaneously, both variables did not significantly influence Academic Performance (F = 1.261; Sig. = 0.294), with an Adjusted R Square value of 0.012. These results indicate that Self-Regulated Learning and Self-Efficacy explain only 1.2% of the variation in Academic Performance, whereas the remaining 98.8% is influenced by other factors. The findings suggest that improving students' performance in academic competitions requires greater attention to subject mastery, competition experience, analytical thinking skills, training intensity, and learning environment support.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of entrepreneurship education and digital literacy on digital entrepreneurial intention, with entrepreneurial self-efficacy positioned as a mediating variable among vocational education students. A quantitative explanatory design was employed, involving 130 students enrolled in digital business and marketing programs. Respondents were selected using proportionate stratified random sampling, and the data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. The findings show that entrepreneurship education does not directly influence digital entrepreneurial intention, whereas digital literacy has a significant positive effect. Entrepreneurial self-efficacy also significantly enhances digital entrepreneurial intention and serves as a key psychological mechanism linking entrepreneurship education to students’ intention to pursue digital entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship education significantly strengthens entrepreneurial self-efficacy, indicating that educational experiences contribute to students’ confidence in identifying and developing digital business opportunities. In contrast, digital literacy does not significantly influence entrepreneurial self-efficacy and has no indirect effect on digital entrepreneurial intention through self-efficacy. These findings demonstrate that digital capability and entrepreneurial confidence operate through different pathways in shaping digital entrepreneurial intention. The study highlights the need for vocational entrepreneurship education to move beyond theoretical instruction by incorporating experiential learning, digital business projects, and confidence-building activities that enable students to translate entrepreneurial knowledge into digital venture intentions.
