Abstract

Children mostly receive their first education from their parents. In Islamic intellectual tradition, the most important part to be instilled first in man’s life is the teaching of religious beliefs, of morality (adab). When the children have to pursue further studies, their parents are playing important roles in the process of choosing educational institution for their children. In this paper discusses specifically on parents’ reasons for sending their children to Muhammadiyah Junior High School 4 of Surakarta Academic Year 2019/2020. This is a field study and using a descriptive quantitative approach by distributing closed questionnaires via Google form. The result shows that the parents really hope that their children are good in understanding general knowledge within Islamic educational framework. If the parents’ wishes can be successfully instilled into their children in the educational process and hope it can be successfully achieved, it means the vision and mission of the school are fulfilled accordingly.

Abstract

Nur Hidayah integrated Islamic high school Surakarta is an educational institution that provides dormitories. Several years ago there were not as many students living as now. Nearly 80% of students live in guesthouses. This study aims to identify and examine the roles of supervisors (musyrif) on student achievement. This research is field research conducted by Integrated Islamic High School (SMA IT) Nur Hidayah Surakarta. This research is implementing interviews, observation, and documentation and then using a phenomenological and analytical approach. This study showed that this school tended to use democratic parenting. In educational institutions, no parenting style only uses one pattern, so in fact, educational institutions apply moderate parenting or combine all parenting patterns with a divided composition. The special role of the supervisor members (musyrif) at Nur Hidayah is to implement a home learning system. The special feature of this system allows students to be more intense to interact with the surrounding community. This system makes it possible for them to be prepared in real life. Given that intellectual intelligence is no longer the main thing, there must be a balance between social and emotional intelligence. Nur Hidayah's musyrif parenting provides opportunities and stimuli for students to be able to develop academic and non-academic abilities. Specific positive activities that exist in each type of Dormitory will support their development in learning such as taḥfiz, foreign language practice, and so on. Besides that, the composition of moderate parenting (combining three styles of parenting) that has been made in such a way will make fostering, supervision, learning, and education more effective and efficient.

Abstract

This paper elaborates on the significant roles of H. M. Rasjidi’s thoughts on morality. In it, re-affirming one of the fundamental principles of Islam which is the metaphysical foundation of morality. This is also an attempt to expose the relative values of the morality which have been developed by Western modern philosophers. Rasjidi explains that morality in Islam is not only decided by cultural consensus and social fitness but it is also quite related to the nature of man’s existence. By realizing that, it would lead a Muslim to be always conscious that morality or good deed is intimately dependent on the fundamental principles of Islam. Thus, Rasjidi’s view towards a good thing which is found from diverse cultures and civilizations has to be and still need to be interpreted in light of the intellectual framework of Islam.

Abstract

In essence, the application of MBKM is a very essential form of student-centered learning. In its development, the UNIDA campus has twice participated in the Teaching Campus, one of the MBKM programs held by the Minister of Education. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of implementation and obstacles in MBKM on the campus of Darussalam Gontor University, Ponorogo (UNIDA) as well as some of the problems and obstacles in it. This research uses a case study approach. The instrument of data collection was done by interview, and documentation. The results of this study show that although UNIDA has started to implement several MBKM activities, they are still not running optimally due to several things including: (1) there is no strong legal umbrella to state that the academic community makes other policies related to the implementation of MBKM itself; (2) socialization, which is felt to be very lacking; (3) unclear credit conversion, (4) differences in the use of the year used by UNIDA in determining the academic calendar, where Unida uses the Hijri calendar while in general MBKM activities are based on the Masehi Calender.

Abstract

AbstractSince Indonesia gained its independence in 1945, several Indonesian scholars have attempted to build and re-develop various aspects of developmental fields including education, economy, and society. In developing a country with the world's largest Muslim-majority population, one of their main concern is the revival of Islamic thought at Islamic higher institutions in Indonesia. This revival of thought involves re-interpreting important elements of Islamic thought based upon the secular, Western and modern way of thinking. This effort, known as the modernization of Islamic thought, has led to severe confusion and misunderstanding. Mohammad Rasjidi employed the framework of ahl al-sunnah wa al-jamā‘ah to criticize and subsequently reject secularisation as a philosophical program which was used as the foundation for the modernization of Islamic thought. This paper elaborates the significant roles of Mohammad Rasjidi’s thoughts and contributions in correcting and re-affirming the fundamental principles of Islam, specifically concerning the nature of man, the nature of human reason, the nature of morality and the understanding of the state, all of which conforms with the Worldview of Islam. Keywords: Mohammad Rasjidi, Islam and Modernism; the nature of nan; revelation, reason, morality, state.
