Abstract

The purpose of this community service program is to improve Arabic language skills while strengthening Islamic values among Indonesian migrant children at Sanggar Bimbingan Gombak Utara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This program was designed to address the problems of low Arabic literacy, limited teaching methods, and weak understanding of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) among diaspora children. Through this initiative, it is expected to foster a young generation with basic Arabic proficiency, strong religious understanding, and confidence in maintaining their Islamic identity within a multicultural environment. The implementation method applied a participatory approach consisting of identification, planning, implementation, evaluation, and reflection stages. Several learning strategies were employed, including Joyful Learning Arabic, Al-Lughah wa Al-Hayah, Pelita Hikmah, Quiz Cahaya Iman, and Sanggar Qur’an. The activities were conducted interactively, involving lecturers, students, local teachers, and PRIM Malaysia to ensure program sustainability. The results show significant improvements both academically and socio-spiritually. Academically, children’s vocabulary mastery, simple conversation skills, and Qur’anic recitation with tajwid improved based on pre-test and post-test results. Socially, the program fostered greater self-confidence, active participation, and a stronger sense of community. Spiritually, the internalization of Islamic values was reflected in children’s daily attitudes and behavior. The program also produced simple teaching modules, online mentoring, and collaborative networks to support sustainability. Thus, this initiative not only addressed short-term needs but also built a relevant, sustainable learning ecosystem that can be replicated in other diaspora communities..

Abstract

Character education is an essential aspect of the national education system but often takes a lower priority compared to academic achievement. In Islam, morality aligns with the goals of education, and its formation can be achieved through role modeling and habituation. This study examines school strategies in shaping students' character and the challenges faced, with the hope of providing insights and solutions for its implementation. This research is qualitative, providing a comprehensive overview of the school's role in character formation. Data was collected through interviews. SMAIT Nur Hidayah Sukoharjo implements character education by integrating Islamic values into the curriculum, religious activities, and a school culture that supports the development of noble character. The school’s vision and mission align with the goals of character education, aiming to produce a generation that is morally upright, independent, and responsible. Moreover, various flagship programs such as halaqah tarbawiyah, mentoring, worship habituation, and social activities serve as effective means for internalizing character values. It can be concluded that the school has a strong commitment to building students' character through systematic programs and methods. Character education is not only implemented in classroom learning activities but also in extracurricular activities, daily habits, and social interactions between teachers, students, and the school environment.

Abstract

This study is based on the concept of achieving happiness in the world and the hereafter according to Imam Al-Ghazali's view. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the concept of happiness according to Imam Al-Ghazali and the keys to happiness face the identity crisis in Islamic Religious Education teachers. Meanwhile, this study aims to determine the concept of happiness according to Imam Al-Ghazali in facing the identity crisis in the educational staff environment. The results of this study are (1) Self-knowledge (ma‘rifat al-nafs) serves as a crucial foundation for Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers to realize their true essence as humble servants of Allah, enabling them to reframe their profession as a spiritual calling rather than merely an institutional obligation. (2) The purification of the soul (tazkiyat al-nafs), through the control of desire (syahwat), anger (ghadab), intellect (‘aql), and heart (qalb), as taught by Al-Ghazali, has shown a positive impact in maintaining the inner balance of PAI teachers so they do not become overwhelmed by complex professional demands. (3) Al-Ghazali’s concept of happiness can serve as a transformative spiritual approach to overcoming the identity crisis experienced by PAI teachers, as it offers a path to spiritual reinforcement, psychological resilience, and the internalization of religious motivation, thereby fostering inner strength and a genuine spirit of educational dedication.

Data reduction, presentation, and conclusion are the data analysis techniques used. Testing the validity of the data is a triangulation of sources, methods and time. The results of this study state that applying the habit of reading Asmaul Husna makes students aware of the sins they commit. This is because when the beautiful name of Allah Swt is mentioned or mentioned, it will tremble the heart, so students who have faith will be aware of their sins and be moved to continue to improve themselves and their character. Therefore, this motivates students to improve their attitudes and behaviour, which is a process of enhancing religious character. In addition, it can also raise awareness of the existence of Allah Swt so that this feeling will improve the religious character of students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies of Islamic Education teachers in instilling morals in students in order to form affective values. This study aims to identify the strategies implemented by Islamic Education teachers in instilling morals in students to develop affective values. The main focus of this study is to understand the extent to which the implemented strategies are able to foster noble character in students through the process of internalizing Islamic values. The research uses a qualitative case study approach, data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis used is Miles and Huberman’s model: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study showed that the strategies used included habituation, role modelling, advice, and discipline. The habituation strategy was carried out through routine religious activities such as joint prayer and congregational prayer. The role model strategy was implemented by providing examples of good behaviour from teachers to students. The advice and discipline strategies were implemented through educational motivation and reprimands. The four strategies complement each other in shaping students' affective aspects, such as attitudes, interests, assessments, and character. The instillation of morals in this context aims for students not only to know the value of goodness cognitively but also to internalize and believe in it in everyday life. Teachers and school administrators need to design and implement strategies that are not only theoretical but also practical in students’ daily lives. Habituation through religious activities and teacher role-modeling can create a conducive learning environment for instilling values.
