Abstract

The urgency of media education skills in the modern era has made media literacy research increasingly diverse. However, this diversity needs to be matched with adequate information regarding publication mapping. Therefore, this research aims to analyze trends in media literacy research to identify the direction of trends and future research opportunities using bibliometric analysis and a quantitative approach. The population includes 1,786 scientific publications on media literacy from 2019 to 2023 after filtering based on document type and keywords, resulting in a sample of 1,046 articles. The research findings indicate a positive trend, with an increase in publication frequency each year from 2019 to 2023. Through VOSViewer analysis, 51 keywords appeared in at least ten documents, then grouped into seven clusters. In general, media literacy research each year focuses on discussing misinformation and disinformation issues. In addition, the analysis also revealed the presence of rarely discussed keywords, such as "Body Image," "Privacy," "Adolescents," "Children," and "Teacher Training," indicating that there are still many potential research topics that can be further explored in the future.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Media Tradisional, Masyarakat Pedesaan, Pengembangan PanganABSTRACTThis research is motivated by the reason that in Indonesia the majority of communities depend on farms, sometimes still have difficulty in disseminating information, particularly the information that is needed by farmers to improve the quality and quantity of agricultural products. The difficulty caused by the lack of human resources and equipment to reach areas that are geographically isolated, or limitation of the public access, it either because of economic factors (financial) and knowledge. So it is not surprising that in the midst of the information age, there is still an area that is not or has not been touched by the information from the outside. This research was also to measure the level of use of traditional media in rural communities in supporting of food development in Kecamatan Rancakalong Kabupaten Sumedang. The method used in this research is descriptive method with qualitative approach. As a result, that the use of traditional cultural arts media on society Rancakalong is closely associated with the development of food. Keywords: Traditional Media, Rural Communities, Food Development

Abstract

Korea is famous for the creative industry such as drama which set in modern times and the kingdom era (saeguk). In the saeguk drama, Korean Indigenous knowledge is also shown. It represents their traditional life, such as livelihoods, how to make tools, survive in four seasons, how to farm or garden, and also about health. One of the saeguk with the theme of Indigenous knowledge is Jewell in the Palace, with the background of the lives of physicians and healers in the Joseon era. This study aims to identify the health themes in the drama text. Therefore, we use qualitative content analysis. The results of the study show that in Jewell in the Palace, there are twelve main themes about health: the relationship between body changes and health, herbs, flowers, acupuncture, healthy drinks, environmental influence on health, benefits of plants for health, spices, fruits, benefits of animals for human health, healthy tips, and natural ingredients for skincare. The conclusion is that the Korean drama Jewell in the Palace has main themes and sub-themes about health based on their characteristics, types of plants, names of animals, and the benefits. The results of this study can be a source of reference for further research from several disciplines: cultural science (cultural and media studies), health (traditional medicine), education (the effectiveness of drama as a source of learning about Indigenous knowledge), and research studies to analyze the use of entertainment media (films, movies, comedy series, and dramas) as sources of research data.

Abstract

This study aims to see if there is a relationship between media literacy and the level of access to LinkedIn Learning courses. The concept of digital literacy used in the research is the Individual Competence Framework by the European Commission which consists of 3 indicators, namely technical usage skills, critical understanding, and communication skills. The media literacy variable is further divided into 3 (three) ability categories namely Basic, Medium, and Advanced. Similarly, the LinkedIn Learning course access variable is divided into 3 (three) levels namely “Low”, “Medium”, “High”.  The method used in this research is a quantitative method with a correlational approach, which tries to see the relationship between two or more variables and the strength of the relationship. This research was conducted on 65 students of the Faculty of Non-Postgraduate Communication Sciences class of 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023 at Padjadjaran University, who were selected based on simple random sampling technique. The data analysis techniques used in this study are descriptive and inferential using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that there was no correlation between students' media literacy and the level of access to LinkedIn Learning online education program courses by students of the Faculty of Non-Postgraduate Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. From the three sub-variables of media literacy based on the Individual Competence Framework, namely critical understanding, and communication skills also have a significant relationship with media literacy, but the sub-variable of technical usage skills has a significant relationship with media literacy.

Abstract

This research is based on the case of the well-preserved collection of Gelumpai Manuscripts, which is estimated to be centuries old and believed to date back to the year 1300 C. The manuscripts serve as authentic evidence of Islamic civilization in Palembang at that time and can strengthen historical value through the collective memory of the nation. The study aimed to determine the manuscript’s supporting factors and the Gelumpai Manuscript preservation process. The research method used was qualitative with a case study approach. The research object was the Gelumpai Manuscript, which used the Ka Ga Nga script. Data was obtained through interviews, field observations, and related documentation studies. The results showed that several supporting factors for the preservation of this manuscript included adequate humidity, ideal light intensity, and effective protection against pests and pollution. This means that the South Sumatra Museum has implemented the appropriate standard. The museum carried out preservation by coating the manuscripts with white oil and periodically cleaning and checking the collection in the storage room. Furthermore, this museum held conservation support activities such as Museum Goes to School, Museum Goes to Village, and Collaboration Exhibitions, which were held to educate the public about the specialty of the Gelumpai Manuscript. So, the society will work together to maintain the existence of the collective memory contained in the manuscript.

Abstract

The creation of a thesis, which is the outcome of student research, is one of the requirements for graduation in higher education. In the thesis completion process, students are required to have adequate information literacy and self-directed learning skills. Students of Fikom Unpad, class of 2016, were introduced to the concept of information literacy during the new student orientation and in the TPB (Preparation Stage for Learning) program in the KBLI (Information Literacy Learning Activities) course. This research aims to identify the relationship between information literacy and self-directed learning among Fikom Unpad students of the 2016 class in the thesis preparation process. The research method used is quantitative, utilizing Chi-square and Pearson Product Moment analysis. The theoretical foundation refers to the ACRL (Association of College, Research, and Library) standards of 2000, covering aspects of information needs, information search strategies, information evaluation, information usage, and ethics and law in information use. This study involved 209 students of Fikom Unpad, class of 2016, with a sample size of 136 individuals. The results show a significant relationship between information literacy (X) and self-directed learning (Y), with a high correlation between sub-variable X (information needs, information search strategies, and information usage) and variable Y. Meanwhile, other sub-variables of X (information evaluation, ethics, and the law of information use) have a moderate relationship with variable Y. It was found that students' motivation and self-directed learning ability can increase with improved information literacy skills, considering the interrelation between the indicators of information literacy and self-directed learning. The higher the level of students' information literacy, the better their self-directed learning abilities.

Abstract

The Library of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) serves as a supporting facility for the academic community of FISIP Unpad. To disseminate information, the FISIP Library still relies on print media, which limits the scope of the information provided, resulting in suboptimal dissemination of library resources. Conversely, the need for information dissemination is significant, given that FISIP is one of the faculties with the largest number of study programs at Unpad. Considering this, the objective of this research is to design the Instagram social media platform as a dissemination medium for the FISIP Library at Unpad. The research employs a qualitative methodology utilizing action research as its approach. The dynamic process of action research begins with planning, followed by action, observation, and reflection. Data collection methods include interviews, observations, and documentation, with data analysis conducted through matrix tables. The results of the research are presented in the form of stages of action research, which consist of planning, action, observation, and reflection phases. The first stage involves developing a plan based on the existing conditions in the field, followed by the realization of the plan during the action phase. The outcomes of the action phase are then observed and reflected upon. Based on the results of the observation and reflection, improvements and optimizations are necessary, both in terms of information and social media utilization; thus, a second cycle is implemented to address these issues. The study encompasses two cycles of action research, each including the stages of action, observation, and reflection. The research resulted in the creation of a functional Instagram account for the FISIP Library at Unpad, which includes content that pertains to library-related information.

Abstract

The phenomena of document theft and misuse represent recurring issues in various contexts. Data misuse is defined as the unauthorized or illegal utilization of personal information, resulting in material and administrative losses. Given the significance of archives, effective management of personal and family records is essential, including the implementation of digitization as a security strategy, similar to archival management practices applied in formal institutions. This study focuses on the management of family records in the rural community of Kampung Cikurutug Elos, Cicurug-Sukabumi. The research aims to evaluate the level of community understanding in managing family documents through the perspective of the records life cycle. The methodology employed is qualitative descriptive, with data collection techniques encompassing observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. Data analysis is conducted through stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Research findings indicate that the process of record creation and receipt stems from both formal and informal activities. Family members utilize these records for personal and collective interests. Organization and classification of records are performed based on family needs, with the use of storage equipment such as folders and the determination of strategic storage locations. Documents that have lost their utility are destroyed to prevent accumulation. Some residents have adopted digitization practices through digital photography and scanning. The study concludes that the community of Kampung Cikurutug Elos has implemented family record management with considerable effectiveness, as evidenced by the ease and speed of information retrieval processes.

Abstract

The issue of preservation can be addressed through effective preservation management. A critical component of preservation management is the establishment of preservation policies. This study aims to investigate the policies governing the preservation of Minangkabau manuscripts at the Adityawarman Museum as an effort to sustain cultural heritage. The research employs a qualitative case study methodology, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and literature review. The subjects of the study comprise two categories: primary and secondary subjects. Data analysis is conducted using Miles' data analysis framework, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the Adityawarman Museum's preservation policies are guided by applicable laws, technical guidelines from the National Museum, and the experiences of museum conservators. Regarding acquisition policies, the museum adheres to legal regulations concerning the procurement of goods and services. Policies on security and storage spaces are based on technical guidelines issued by the Ministry of Culture in 2001. Furthermore, environmental control in storage areas considers factors such as cleanliness, room temperature, and humidity levels. Policies regarding the lending of manuscripts involve the creation of official records witnessed by relevant parties. The management policies for the preservation of Minangkabau manuscripts reflect the museum's commitment to cultural preservation through cultural experiences and knowledge dissemination. Although the preservation management policies at the Adityawarman Museum have not been fully implemented, efforts to maintain cultural heritage continue.

Abstract

Because the Padjadjaran University Faculty of Agriculture Library has so many scholarly books, there is a mountain of accumulation inside of it. Science work is damp, moldy, and dirty. Furthermore, it is very challenging to find scientific articles later due to the mountains of them. The University of Padjadjaran Library's digitalization initiatives are predicated on this understanding. Examining the process of digitizing historical scientific articles (published prior to 2016) in the University of Padjadjaran's Faculty of Agriculture Library is the aim of this study. The research methodology used is a case study methodology using a qualitative approach. In order to gather data, observations and interviews are conducted. Interviews were conducted with the coordinator of digitization activities at the Library of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Padjadjaran, digitization staff, and students who had done digitalization internships. Data analysis uses data reduction techniques, data presentation, and verification. The study's findings indicated that this digitizing process had previously been done, halted, and then continued till the present. The first step involves scanning; the second involves editing the results of the scanning process, such as adding a watermark or a password, but this step has not yet been completed; the three uploading procedures are uploaded to the Unpad Faculty of Agriculture Library's Google Drive. The last phase involves scanning and destroying the physical scientific works; nevertheless, official protocols have not been followed in this process. The study's findings demonstrate that while the digitization efforts undertaken are generally excellent, crucial information pertaining to particular SOPs at every stage of the process is still lacking.
