Abstract

Palm oil is one of the plantation products that has a significant impact on the Indonesian economy. Indonesia, being one of the major palm oil exporters in the world, has successfully reduced poverty and unemployment rates by expanding oil palm plantation areas. This research aims to explore the relationship between the extent of oil palm plantation land and the annual production of palm oil in Paser Regency. The research method employed for this study is quantitative, involving the collection of data on the amount of palm oil plantation land from 2018 to 2022, along with the annual palm oil production figures in Paser Regency. The gathered data will be examined using correlation analysis, utilizing IBM SPSS 25 as the tool for conducting the correlation analysis. The researcher found that there is no significant correlation between the extent of oil palm plantation land and annual palm oil production. Additionally, the researcher discovered other variables that correlate with the annual volume of palm oil production, which were not considered in this study. The variables identified by the researcher as influencing production volume after conducting this study include soil conditions, fertilizers, seedlings, human resources, and the age of oil palm trees. This research provides insights to readers, stakeholders, and other researchers regarding factors correlated with the annual volume of palm oil production. These findings can serve as a solid foundation for business decision-making and as reference material for future research.

Abstract

Learning in the era of globalization directs teachers to use learning models that are adapted to existing technological media. Based on the data obtained, there is still a learning process that has not maximized the use of technological media as a tool, so students have difficulty understanding biology material which results in a lack of activity and student learning outcomes in class. The aim of this research is to determine the difference in improving student learning outcomes between the control class and the experimental class in implementing the video-assisted Problem Based Learning model on virus material. The research method used was Quasi-Experiment with a non-randomized control group type, pretest-posttest only design. The research subjects consisted of odd semester students. The research was carried out at two different Madrasah Aliyah in Aceh Besar, where Madrasah Aliyah A consisted of 61 students and Madrasah Aliyah B consisted of 60 students. The test given is a multiple choice test with 35 questions with 5 alternative answer choices. The research results showed that the average N-gain for the experimental class was 62.31 in the medium category, while the control class was 42.95, indicating the medium category. Even though it is included in the medium category, the average N-gain value for the experimental class is higher than the control class. Based on the average posttest score, the experimental class obtained a score of 73.34, higher than the control class which was only 60.59. The difference in mean posttest scores between the experimental class and the control class shows an increase in learning outcomes.

Abstract

The current study examined students perspectives on the use of one of the regional learning management systems (LMS), E-Belajar (hereafter EB), at two Islamic boarding schools in Aceh, Indonesia. Fifty EFL Islamic boarding school students agreed to participate in this study. This study used a mixed method design, combining surveys and interviews. The data from the questionnaire was analysed quantitatively. Meanwhile, thematic analysis was performed on the interview data. The results revealed both good and negative attitudes of EB in ELT. Positive replies indicate that EB improved English comprehension and promoted autonomous learning, assisted students in completing English tasks on time by using the alert feature as a reminder, developed enjoyable and engaging learning activities using videos and online games, and encouraged students confidence in expressing ideas. However, negative voices highlighted the teachers failure to advise students on how to use EB properly, resulting in incorrect task submission. Students also preferred in person learning, and students had trouble communicating effectively. Students further pointed out that EB did not enhance listening skill, reading skill, speaking skill, writing skill, or grammar understanding significantly; only few students believed that EB helped promote English language skills, indicating that further efforts through EB was required. Students were also unable to access certain EB services, such as e-counselling and e-monitoring. Furthermore, dormitories have limited access to the internet. These circumstances became another drawback for students.
