Abstract

The research entitled Residual effects of Empty Palm Bunches compost (EPB) after planting edamame soybean on growth and production of onion (Allium ascalonicum L.). This research aims to determine the residual effects of EPB compost on growth and production of onion (Allium ascalonicumL.). This research use completely randomized design (CRD) which consists 4 treatments that is EPB compost residue with a dose of 5 ton/ha (K1), EPB compost residue with dose of 10 ton/ ha (K2), EPB compost residue with dose of 15 ton/ha (K3) and EPB compost residue with dose of 20 ton/ha (K4) that each treatment consisted 4 replications, then obtain 16 units of trial. Parameters measured were the number of leaves per clump, the number of tubers per clump, tuber fresh weight per clump, circumference of tubers, plant dry weight and shelf tubers dry weight. The results show that the residual effects of the EPB compost treatment after planting edamame soybean significantly affected on number of leaves per clump, the number of tubers per clump, tuber fresh weight per clump, circumference of tubers, plant dry weight and shelf tubers dry weight of onion. The best growth and production of onion obtained by usage of EPB compost residue with dose of 20 ton/ha.   Keywords: Empty Palm Bunches compost, residues, onion

Abstract

This study aims to look at the effect of husk charcoal and interaction of husk charcoal paddy and P fertilizer are good for increasing the yield of sweet corn on peatlands. The research was carried out on peat land, Jl. Manunggal, Tuah Madani Village, Tampan District, Pekanbaru. This research was conducted for 4 months starting from September to December 2017. The study was carried out experimentally using factorial randomized block design (RBD). the first factor is a combination of husk charcoal mixture A1 = husk charcoal 2.5 ton.ha-1, A2 = husk charcoal 5 ton.ha-1, A3 = husk charcoal 7.5 ton.ha-1. The second factor is TSP fertilizer dosage, P0 = TSP fertilizer 50 kg.ha.-1, P1 = TSP fertilizer 100 kg.ha.-1, P2 = TSP fertilizer 150 kg.ha-1. The parameters observed were leaf area, plant growth rate, harvest  is day, weight of cob per 6 m2, weight per cob with screw, weight per cob without screw, cob length and cob diameter. The data obtained were analyzed statistically with variance and continued with a DNMRT further test at the level of 5%. The results showed that the interaction of rice husk charcoal and P fertilizer significantly affected the plant growth rate, leaf area, weight per cob per 6 m2, weight per cob with screw, weight per cob without screw, cob length and cob diameter. The dose of rice husk charcoal 7.5 ton.ha-1 and fertilizer P 150 kg.ha.-1 give higher corn crop production which is 9,173 kg per 6 m2 / 15.25 ton.ha-1.Keywords: sweet corn, husk charcoal, P fertilizer , Peatlands.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of interaction of several doses of rice husk charcoal and NPK fertilizer to the growth of cocoa seedlings and to get the best dose of fertilizer from rice husk charcoal for the growth of cocoa seedlings (Theobroma cacao L.) This research has been carried out in the Technical Implementation Unit of the Garden Trial Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau, Bina Widya Road, Simpang Baru Village Tampan District, Pekanbaru City. This study lasted for four months starting from May until August 2016. This research is a 3x3 factorial experiment prepared according to a complete randomized design (RAL). The treatment in this research is: first factor is rice husk charcoal consisting of 3 levels: A0 = Without giving of rice husk charcoal, A1 = 1 kg of rice husk charcoal per polybag and A2 = 2 kg of rice husk charcoal per polybag. The second factor is NPK fertilizer consisting of 3 levels: P0 = No NPK fertilizer, P1 = 15 g NPK fertilizer per polybag and P2 = 30 g NPK fertilizer per polybag. This study consisted of 9 treatment combinations, and repeated 3 times so that there were 27 experimental units. Each experimental unit consists of 3 plants, so the total plant is 81 plants. The data obtained were analyzed statistically by using vocabulary. The variance was then tested further by Duncan's multiple-range test of 5%. The parameters observed were cocoa seed height, stem diameter, leaf number, leaf area, root volume, root canopy ratio and dry weight of plant. The results showed that the interaction of several doses of rice husk charcoal and NPK fertilizer gave no significant effect on stem diameter, leaf number, leaf area, root volume, dry weight and root ratio of cocoa seedlings. The interaction treatment of rice huskcharcoal 2 kg per polybag and NPK dosage 30 g per polybag tends to give effect to the parameters of plant height and stem diameter while the parameter of leaf number does not occur tendency increase.Keywords: Cocoa seeds, rice husk charcoal, NPK fertilizer

Abstract

The research aimed to look at the impact of interaction between growth medium and fertilizer concentration to the growth and development of the Japanese cucumber (Cucumis sativus). This research was factorial experiment which used Completely Randomized Design. The treatments were: growth medium (M1= sand, M2= hull of rice charcoal, M3= mixed of sand and hull of rice charcoal) and concentration of liquid organic fertilizer “Super Bionic”(P1= 1 cc/1 water, P2= 2 cc/1 water, P3=3 cc/1 water).Parameters observed were plant height, harvest age, fruit number per plant and fruit weight per plant. This research concluded that interaction between mixed growth medium (rice hull and sand) and 3 cc/1 water super bonic concentration indicated better growth and development of plant, and resulted in higher production of Japanese cucumber.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out concentration of coconut oil which induce growth and development of bud pineapple’s crown. The treatments of this experience consisted of several concentration of coconut oil, such as: K0= without coconut oil, K1= 25% of coconut oil, K2= 50% of coconut oil, K3= 75% of coconut oil. The result shows that treatment without giving coconut oil could accelerate the appearance of bud, producing the highest number of bud and the highest percentage of growth.

Abstract

The research objective was to assay the plant organ extract that can be used to substitute synthetic gibberellins acid for activation of bud dorman of pineapple stem. This research was conducted by using completely randomized design with 4 treatment and 4 replication. The treatment were GA3. Kernel young maize, leave young maize and green beans germination. The result of experiment shows that the plant organ extract could be used as substitution GA3. Using the young leave of maize shows that producing time of seedling was faster, the seedling was 107,55% higher and 97,74% more weight than GA3 treatment.

Abstract

Tliis research was conducted to determine tbe residue efTect of sawdust ash and worm compost inpeat medium after tomato pbinting on the growth and yield of shallot This research was carried out in thegreen bouse of Faculty ofAgriculture, Riau University. The design was Complete Randomized Design (CRD),with four factors and three replications. The first factor was residue of sawdust ash after tomato plantingwhich consisted of four levels (0,10,20 and 30 ton/ha) and tbe second factor was resklue of worm compostafter tomato planting with four levels (0,5,10 and 15 lon^a). The result showed that the residue of sawdustash and worm compost had positivecRect on the growth and yield ofshaHot The highest result was found forresklue of 30 ton/ha sawdust ash and tO ton/ha worm compost after tomato planting.

Abstract

Peat soil is potential for growing shallot but there is some constraints to produce good yields. This research aimed to know effect of CMA and Cu on the growth and production of shallot. This research was conducted in field laboratory Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Rimbo Panjang, Kampar. The treatments were arranged in a factorial 3x4 in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. CMA (0,10 and 20 gram.plant-1) was the first factor and Cu (0,5,10 and 15 kg.ha-1 provided the highest result.

Abstract

This research aimed to see the effect of shade and potassium fertilizer on the growth of patchouli plants, to get the best potassium potassium condensation on each level of shade provided and to get a better shade level at each dose of potassium fertilizer provided. The experiment was conducted in experimental station of Agriculture Faculty of Universitas Riau from December 2015 to April 2016. This research is a split plot design with shade as main plot and potassium fertilizer as plot child. The main plot consisted of 3 treatment levels: N0 (No shade), N1 (Shade 50%), N2 (Shade 75%) and sub plot consisted of 4 treatment levels: K0 (Without KCl fertilizer), K1 (Fertilizer KCl 0.125 g perpolybag or 50 kg.ha-1), K2 (KCl fertilizer 0.250 g per polybag or 100 kg.ha-1), K3 (KCl fertilizer 0.375 g per polybagor 150 kg.ha-1). Data has been analyzed with variance and tested further with Duncan test at 5% level. The result of this research showed that of shade 75% gave better growth of patchouli plants. Giving doses of KCl 0.375 g per polybag resulted in better growth of patchouli plants. Giving 75% of the various doses of KCl fertilizer provided gives better result on observation of branch length, number of primary branches, root volume and dray weight of the plant. Giving dosage of KCl 0.375 g per polybag at various shade levels gave better result on observation of branch lenght, number of primary branch, root volume and dry weight of plant.  Keywords: Shade, Potassium Fertilizer and Patchouli Plant

Abstract

The treatments in this study were AB mix 10 ml.l-1   + POC 0 ml.l-1, AB mix 7,5 ml.l-1   + POC 50 ml.l-1, AB mix 5 ml.l-1   + POC 100 ml.l-1, AB mix 2,5 ml.l-1   + POC 150 ml.l-1, AB mix 0 ml.l-1   + POC 200 ml.l-1 andeachtreatmentwasrepeated 4 times. The observedvariablesconsistedofplantheight, leafwidth, numberofleaves, plantfreshweight, ediblefreshweightandroot volume. The data obtained were analyzedof varian andfurthertestedbyusingDuncan'smultipledistancetestat a level of 5%.
