Abstract

The Mali Dayak community resides in Balai-Batang Tarang Sub-district and a small part resides in Tayan Hilir District, Sanggau District. They have the same ethnic communication language, the Mali Dayak language. As of 2008 the number of Malian Dayak speakers was estimated at 6,963 people (Bamba, 2008). Languages with fewer than 10,000 speakers are classified as endangered (Crystal, 2000). If there is no attempt to maintain this Mali Dayak language, over time, this language is heading for extinction. Therefore, even the slightesteffort to preserve this language needs to be done. This study discusses the main problems regarding the Dayak Mali phonemic, namely the determination of phonemes, allophones, phoneme distribution, phoneme groups (cluster), phoneme sequences, and syllables of the Dayak Mali language which are based on structural theory. The results of this study indicate the phonemes of the Dayak Mali language, namely vowel, diphthong, consonant, and semivocal phonemes. Based on its distribution, a phonemic allophon is apparent. Thephonemic sequence also shows the environment of mutual influence and shows the symmetrical features of the phonemes found in the Dayak language of Mali. Similarly, the consonant group, the situation is answered through this research. The last problem examined is the syllables. The syllable structure contained in the Mali Dayak language is also described.

Abstract

This research on dialect geography applies a synchronic comparative linguistic approach with interpretations based on historical linguistic differentiation. The study, which focuses on phonological and lexical aspects, was conducted to determine the linguistic distance between the Dayak languages used by the people who identify themselves as Sekubang and Seberuang residing in the Sepauk Hulu District. The data presented and discussed in this study consist of responses from 21 research informants related to 829 lexical question glosses. This data was obtained through interviews conducted by the researcher with research informants in each observation area. The method used in data analysis is the synchronic comparative method, applying dialectometric formulas and inter-village triangles. The results of the data analysis, which disregards phonological differences between observation areas, show differences in dialect, subdialect, and speech. Based on the analysis and findings in this study, it can be concluded that the Sekubang and Seberuang languages are the same. However, locally, they identify themselves as separate languages. Therefore, to affirm the similarity between these two Dayak variants, the term "Seberuang language" is introduced as a replacement for the names of both languages. This designation is based on the schematic depiction of the broader Seberuang language usage area compared to the Sekubang language usage area.

Abstract

The Indonesian language learning paradigm shifted after the Covid-19 outbreak. The lack of learning media that can handle all learning material and instructors' poor mastery of technology both contribute to this problem. Building a web-based learning platform using Google Sites and the data from the Observation Report Text is one solution to this problem. The study's goals are to create a procedure for developing learning media on a web platform, to establish whether or not such media is feasible, and to identify the variables enabling and limiting the use of Google Sites. R&D (Research & Development) development principles and the ADDIE model inform the study's methodology. Twenty-one kids were randomly selected from Grade X at IPS SMA Pelita Cemerlang Pontianak. Methods of gathering information include keeping records, conducting surveys, and keeping careful notes. The media professionals who checked out https://sites.google.com/bindoxpelitacemerlang gave it an 82.44%. The validation by subject matter experts is at 96.97%, while the validation by end users is at 88.9%; both scores place the material in the 'Very Eligible' category. Black-box testing tools, stress testing, installation/lauch testing, alpha testing, and 'passing' beta testing are used to determine Google Sites' viability. High accessibility, students' ability to study independently, opening links, dynamic time, extra learning resources, information search columns, and readily updatable content and materials are all reasons to use Google Sites. There are several limitations, such as a lack of personalization, the need for an active internet connection, concerns about privacy and security, and the presence of broken connections.

The description of the features was essential to foster the language for future preservation, revitalization, and development. Moreover, the research focused on descriptive analysis of the language’s phonemes. The Ribun Dayak speaks the Ribun language and inhabits sub-districts Tayan Hulu, Parindu, Bonti, and Kembayan, district Sanggau, West Kalimantan. This indigenous language is vital for thousands of speakers residing in a broad zone. In effect, the language needs to be scientifically and linguistically described in terms of phonology through the research. The data collection technique was an interview and recording, and the data collecting tool was the Swadesh lexicostatistics recorded from informants using a voice recorder. Analysis of the data collected signifies that the distinctive features of language’s phonemes are vowels, diphthongs, consonants, and semi-vowels. The vowels are /i/, /u/, /e/, /o/, and /a/, and the diphthongs are <ai> and <au>. Moreover, the consonants consist of plosive, fricative, nasal, trill, and lateral, and the semi-vowel comprises /w/ and /y/. Some phonemes are consonant clusters and compounds. The onset consonant clusters are /mp/, /nt/, /nc/, and /ŋk/, while the codas consonant clusters are /nt/ and /ŋk/. Furthermore, the consonant compounds are /m-p/, /n-t/, /n-c/, /ŋ-k/, /n-s/, and /h-w/. The research also identifies three consonants with two allophones, namely /p/ with [p] and [p’], /t/ with [t] and [t’], and /k/ with [k] and [k’] while the rest only have one. The compound consonants of the language indicate phonologically conditioned interactions with asymmetrical features, which is only with voiceless consonants.
