Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of information systems in supporting digital business success, particularly among Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), using a Narrative Literature Review (NLR) approach. The review examined various national and international scientific articles obtained from Scopus, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and Google Scholar databases published between 2021 and 2025. The findings reveal that information systems play a strategic role in improving operational efficiency, decision-making quality, innovation capability, customer engagement, and organizational competitive advantage in the digital transformation era. Technologies such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and digital platforms have proven to enhance SME performance and business sustainability. In addition to technological factors, the successful implementation of information systems is influenced by organizational readiness, digital capabilities of human resources, organizational culture, transformational leadership, as well as government support and digital infrastructure. The study also identifies several challenges in SME digitalization, including limited digital literacy, technological readiness, and financial resources. This research contributes theoretically by integrating the perspectives of Resource-Based View (RBV), Dynamic Capability Theory, and Digital Transformation Theory in explaining information systems as strategic organizational resources.

Abstract

This study investigates why applicants who have passed the initial admissions stage do not proceed to final enrolment in an Indonesian private higher education context. While student recruitment is often measured by the number of applications received, institutional sustainability depends on the ability to convert applicants into enrolled students. This study employed a descriptive survey design supported by thematic analysis of open-ended responses. Data were collected from 179 applicants who had participated in the admissions process but did not complete final re-registration. The data were analyzed using frequencies, percentages, and thematic categorization. The findings show that conversion failure is influenced by several factors, including waiting for public university admission results, financial constraints, postponement of study plans, family considerations, uncertainty about the institution or study programmed, preference for other institutions, and campus accessibility. A key finding reveals that 58.1% of respondents would reconsider enrolment if scholarships, tuition discounts, or other financial assistance were available. These findings highlight the need for a conversion management strategy through targeted financial aid, transparent cost communication, family engagement, and proactive applicant follow-up.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the information sources used by new students in determining their college choices, identify the most dominant sources, and evaluate their effectiveness based on conversion rates from applicants to accepted students. Previous studies tend to examine the influence of individual channels such as social media, websites, or interpersonal factors separately, without integrating the dual dimensions of reach (awareness) and conversion (decision effectiveness). This limitation creates a gap in developing data-driven and strategically targeted higher education promotion models. This study employs a descriptive quantitative approach using secondary data from 4,028 applicants, of which 798 were accepted. Data were analyzed using frequency distributions, percentages, and conversion rate analysis across various information sources. The findings indicate a clear distinction between information sources that generate awareness and those that drive conversion. School promotions and guidance counselors dominate in terms of reach, while interpersonal sources (family and friends) and digital channels (WhatsApp, websites, and Instagram) demonstrate higher conversion effectiveness. The novelty of this study lies in its integrative approach that simultaneously evaluates reach and conversion across multiple information sources, offering a more comprehensive understanding of student decision-making. Practically, this study provides a data-driven foundation for designing integrated promotion strategies, where offline channels enhance awareness and digital as well as interpersonal channels optimize conversion outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationships between resources, local knowledge, and SME’s performance by integrating the Resource-Based View and Knowledge-Based View perspectives. A quantitative cross-sectional approach was employed using primary data collected through a structured questionnaire. The study was conducted among batik MSMEs in Pekalongan, Central Java, Indonesia. A purposive sampling technique was applied with specific criteria. A total of 100 MSMEs were selected as the research sample. Data analysis was carried out using (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS. The results show that resources do not have a significant direct effect on MSME performance, indicating that resource availability alone is insufficient to improve business outcomes. However, resources have a significant positive effect on local knowledge, and local knowledge significantly influences MSME performance. Furthermore, the mediation analysis confirms that local knowledge fully mediates the relationship between resources and MSME performance.

Abstract

Rapid growth of digital platforms has generated large volumes of unstructured data, particularly customer reviews, social media comments, and online opinions, which contain valuable insights for organizations. This study aims to examine the role of sentiment analysis in Business Intelligence and data-driven decision-making. The method used is a narrative literature review by analyzing 30 selected journal articles related to sentiment analysis, business intelligence, decision-making, customer reviews, marketing analytics, and data-driven culture. The findings show that sentiment analysis plays an important role in transforming textual data into strategic information that can support customer understanding, marketing decisions, product development, customer relationship management, reputation monitoring, and strategic planning. The integration of sentiment analysis into Business Intelligence enables organizations to not only understand what happens through numerical data, but also why it happens through customer opinions and emotions. However, its implementation still faces challenges related to data quality, informal language, sarcasm, algorithmic bias, model interpretability, and human validation. This study implies that sentiment analysis can strengthen modern Business Intelligence and support more responsive, objective, and evidence-based managerial decision-making.

Abstract

Background: This study aimed to examine the effect of non-pharmacological therapy, specifically progressive muscle relaxation and Benson relaxation, on anxiety levels in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is known to trigger psychological disorders, including anxiety, which can negatively affect treatment outcomes. Methods: A pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach was applied, involving 43 purposively selected respondents. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). Results: The majority of respondents were aged 46–55 years, had completed high school or vocational school, were unemployed, and had undergone chemotherapy 1–6 times. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test revealed a significant reduction in anxiety scores after the intervention. Conclussion: These findings indicate that progressive muscle relaxation and Benson relaxation are effective in reducing anxiety among breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, highlighting the importance of integrating non-pharmacological interventions into supportive oncology care.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the division of gender roles within small-scale fishing households and to identify the empowerment of fishers’ wives that has already taken place in Juwana District. The research focuses on two villages in Juwana District, Pati Regency: Bendar and Bumirejo. The approach used in this study is mixed methods, combining a quantitative approach with descriptive statistics and a qualitative approach using triangulation. Data are collected through in-depth interviews with 60 fisher families using the snowball sampling method. The results show that women in fishing households play a crucial role not only in domestic (reproductive) affairs but also in economic (productive) activities such as fish processing, entrepreneurship, and cooperative management. Furthermore, women are active in social and community activities (managing community). Women’s empowerment is reflected in three main dimensions: resources (access to training, capital, and social support), agency (the ability to make decisions within the family and community), and achievements (increased financial independence and family welfare). The success of empowerment is supported by women’s confidence and skills, family support-especially from husbands-and facilitation from the government and other stakeholders.

Abstract

This study examines the roles of collaboration and innovation in developing digital business ecosystems. It employs a narrative literature review of core scholarship on business ecosystems, digital platforms, and collaboration–innovation practices in both global and Indonesian contexts. The synthesis indicates that digital business ecosystems constitute multilateral interdependence structures that require alignment of roles and activities across actors to realize a shared value proposition. Collaboration therefore becomes a structural necessity, as ecosystem innovation is modular and complementary, and value emerges only when contributions from diverse parties are coherently integrated. Digital platforms accelerate ecosystem growth through generativity and network effects, yet they also demand collaborative governance to keep collective innovation coordinated and goal-oriented. Empirical evidence further shows that collaboration facilitated by platforms, hubs, or intermediaries speeds up the exchange of data, knowledge, and resources, triggering technological, service, governance, and business-model innovations that enhance ecosystem performance and sustainability. However, many ecosystems still face limitations in the depth of collaboration—often not progressing to co-production or joint R&D—resulting in suboptimal collective innovation. This study enriches digital ecosystem theory and offers practical implications for orchestrating collaboration and sustaining innovation in digital business ecosystems.
