Abstract

Abstract

Despite the extensive studies on figurative language in song lyrics, limited research has specifically explored emotional functions of figurative language in contemporary pop albums by Asian artists, particularly in NIKI’s Nicole album. This study aims to examine figurative language used in the lyrics of a few of NIKI’s songs from the Nicole album. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method focusing on documents through content analysis. The primary data of this study were a few chosen tracks from NIKI's Nicole album with an emphasis on the lyrics of the songs investigated. To examine the data, the songs were listened to several times, and the lyrics were carefully read to comprehend meanings of the metaphorical language. The data were gathered based on the categories of metaphorical language and categorized for further examination. Findings revealed that eight songs used 75 different types of figurative language which included metaphor as the most frequently used type. The five varieties of figurative language included personification, simile, hyperbole, irony, and metaphor. The use of figurative language created intense emotional expressions which included regret and despair and melancholy. The study demonstrates that song lyrics achieve their highest poetic and beautiful and emotional effects through the use of figurative language which also helps to express the song's main message.

Abstract

Patients with chronic diseases frequently experience anxiety related to prolonged treatment, physical limitations, fear of complications, and uncertainty about disease prognosis, which may negatively affect treatment adherence and overall well-being. In primary healthcare settings, nurses have a pivotal role in addressing psychosocial problems through holistic nursing care, including structured nursing counseling. This study aimed to examine the effect of nursing counseling on anxiety levels among patients with chronic diseases in the working area of UPT Puskesmas Gunungsari. A quasi-experimental study with a pretest–posttest design was conducted involving patients diagnosed with chronic conditions who met the inclusion criteria and were selected using purposive sampling. Anxiety levels were assessed before and after the intervention using a standardized and validated anxiety measurement tool. The nursing counseling intervention was delivered through structured individual sessions focusing on emotional support, health education, coping strategies, and problem-solving related to disease management, conducted by trained nurses in the primary care setting. Statistical analysis was performed to compare anxiety scores before and after the intervention using appropriate inferential tests. The results demonstrated a significant reduction in anxiety levels among patients following the nursing counseling intervention, indicating that counseling effectively alleviated anxiety in patients with chronic diseases. These findings support previous evidence that psychosocial nursing interventions can improve mental health outcomes and enhance patient adaptation to chronic illness (Stuart, 2013; Townsend & Morgan, 2021). In conclusion, nursing counseling is an effective and feasible intervention to reduce anxiety among patients with chronic diseases in primary healthcare services. Integrating structured nursing counseling into routine nursing care at community health centers is recommended to promote mental well-being, strengthen patient-centered care, and support comprehensive chronic disease management.

Abstract

Abstract

Measurement of anti–severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibody levels provides evidence of prior infection or vaccination. Persistent vaccine hesitancy underscores the importance of robust, evidence-based data to inform policy decisions. The aim of this study was to compare anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG seropositivity among vaccinated individuals, unvaccinated individuals, and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) survivors in the community during the pandemic. In this cross-sectional study, 517 participants were enrolled, including 167 vaccinated individuals, 97 COVID-19 survivors, and 253 unvaccinated individuals, selected through multistage cluster sampling of 40 clusters. Anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG seropositivity was defined as ≥50 AU/mL. Multivariable logistic regression was performed to evaluate associations between group type and seropositivity, adjusting for demographic factors, COVID-19 symptoms, hypertension, and body mass index (BMI). Vaccinated individuals demonstrated significantly higher odds of seropositivity compared with unvaccinated participants (odds ratio (OR)=5.60; 95% confidence interval (CI): 2.36–13.27). Covariates independently associated with seropositivity (p<0.05) included the presence of COVID-19 symptoms, hypertension, and BMI. Vaccination was strongly associated with increased anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG seropositivity in the community, independent of clinical and demographic factors. These findings support ongoing vaccination campaigns and highlight the relevance of comorbidities and symptomatic history in shaping humoral immune responses.

Abstract

Introduction: Measles and rubella are infectious diseases that can affect anyone. According to the World Health Organization, in 2017 an estimated 110,000 children under five years of age died globally due to measles. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between mothers’ knowledge and attitudes toward the administration of Measles–Rubella (MR) immunization in children aged 24 months. Methods: This study employed an observational analytic design. The research was conducted at Sidomulyo Primary Health Center, Tungkal Ilir District, in May 2023. The study sample consisted of a portion of children aged two years and above, with a total sample size of 161 respondents. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. Results: The results showed that, based on knowledge, the majority of respondents had good knowledge, accounting for 104 respondents (64.6%). Based on attitude, most respondents demonstrated a positive attitude, totaling 99 respondents (61.5%). Bivariate analysis indicated that the majority of respondents with good knowledge also had a positive attitude toward MR immunization, with 80 respondents (49.7%). The chi-square test results showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The study concluded that there is a significant relationship between mothers’ knowledge and attitudes toward the administration of Measles–Rubella (MR) immunization in children aged 24 months. It is recommended that the head of the primary health center pay attention to children who have not received MR immunization and implement outreach approaches to ensure that all children receive MR immunization.
