Abstract

Management actions through rehabilitation activities can restore mangrove ecosystems by involving community participation. This study aims to determine the involvement and effectiveness of community-based rehabilitation activities. This study was conducted in Teluk Pambang Village, Bengkalis Regency. The method used is qualitative, with a purposive sampling technique based on certain criteria. The data analysis used is qualitative descriptive and data processing using nvivo 12 plus software. The research findings explain that the dominant factors that encourage people to carry out mangrove rehabilitation activities are based on additional income, strengthening the issue of carbon trade economy, kinship elements, and easy access to financing through donors. The level of program understanding, target accuracy, activity management, and real changes are the most effective rehabilitation activities for the community. At the same time, the indicators for achieving goals are still considered ineffective.

Abstract

Pucuk merah (Syzygium myrtifolium) merupakan tanaman mempunyai multifungsi yang dapat dijadikan sebagai tanaman hias juga mempunyai potensi kandungan minyak atsiri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menentukan hasil dan kualitas minyak esensial dari penyimpanan lama daun dan ranting pucuk merah (Syzygium myrtifolium) yang telah diproduksi, mengetahui kualitas minyak esensial dari penyimpanan lama daun dan ranting pucuk merah (Syzygium myrtifolium) yang telah diproduksi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 2 perlakuan. Analisis observasional yaitu hasil minyak esensial dan kualitas minyak esensial berdasarkan uji bau, uji warna, dan kelarutan dalam etanol. Hasil Penelitian rendemen dari minyak esensial dari daun dan ranting pucuk merah (Syzygium myrtifolium) yang dihasilkan berkisar antara 0,0078% hingga 0,0228%. Pengujian kualitas minyak esensial berdasarkan uji bau, uji warna, dan kelarutan dalam etanol dari 12 perlakuan dilakukan berdasarkan SNI yang terkait dengan cengkih.

Abstract

Palm sap is a liquid produced from palm flower threads. Dates juice can be made into drinks, and sugar, liquid sugar, and block sugar. Many coffee shop companies use sap products and the business feasibility of selling sap products is unknown. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of the juice product business in Binawidya District, Pekanbaru City. Data collection uses observation methods, in-depth interviews, and library research. Sampling by census method. Data analysis was performed with quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that the total turnover of day shops and coffee shops exceeds the total costs of business actors. The total revenue that is greater than the total cost indicates that the palm juice product business is profitable. The largest total income earned is the coffee shop business with a nominal value of Rp. 46,115,003/mount. The level of income at the coffee shop is influenced by the service of processed palm juice products. The results of the R/C analysis of palm sap product companies in Binawidya District, Pekanbaru City, obtained for each sap product company is R/C ratio > 1, which means the company is profitable and the company is feasible to work on.

Abstract

Arboretumis acollection or chard trees with a particular area contains various types of trees planted wherever possible to follow their natural habitat and are intendedas a biodiversity conservation area and at least be able to improve or mainta in the climatic conditions around the city of Pekanbaru. Arboretum of University of Riau region has an area of±10ha. Arboretumis located in Pekanbaru City with a height of 5-50 m above sea level. The average temperature is 28-290C Arboretum with a verage humidity is 74-75%. This study aims to determine the visitor understanding of the meaning and function of Arboretum of University of Riau. This study will be conducted at the Arboretum of University of Riau. This research was conducted in December 2014 and January 2015. This is a descriptive study that attempted to describe exactly what data is being investigated. Based on the results of the research shows that the overall level of understanding of the visitors to the arboretum has been relatively high. Based on the classification of educational level of understanding of visitors to the arboretum is dominated by the high school level (high) due to the Arboretum located in the campus environment. While based on the classification level of understanding of visitors to the arboretum age 10-20 years of age (High), 21-30 years (Medium).

Abstract

Arboretum as a conservation area that aims to maintain the tree species and ecological benefits of having a variety of plants or trees that have high economic value. One of the plants or trees that have high economic value is balam (Palaqium burchii HJL). The Natural regeneration in a forest area has a very important role to sustain the kind of quantity and quality of balam in the future. Balam (Palaqium burchii HJL) entered in the family Saportaceae. Balam (Palaquium burchii HJL) is a native plant of Indonesia that spread throughout in mainland Indonesia and found most widely in the areas of Borneo. Wood types of balam (Palaqium burchii HJL) has class IV in durability and class II in powers. This study was conducted in Arboretum of University of Riau. Bina Widya Street KM12,5 Panam, District Tampan, Pekanbaru, Riau Province. Arboretum has an area of ± 10 Ha. The research was conducted in March until June 2015. Based on the results of the study showed that the entire swath of the observations which the regeneration of balam only 1.07%, it can be stated that the regeneration of balam in Arboretum area of University of Riau is still relatively low.

Abstract

The rattan craft industry in Pekanbaru City that has been established since 1970s is located in Rumbai Subdistrict. The existence of this industry has been long enough, but until now the picture of the industry pattern of including the production to and the product marketing has not been there. This study aims to determine the origin of raw materials and types of rattan used, the processing of rattan handicrafts from semi-finished goods to finished goods, distribution channels of raw materials, and the marketing of rattan products. This research is done by qualitative descriptive analysis approach. The data were obtained from the results of in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies. The informants were retrieved by purposive sampling technique. Rattan raw materials in the rattan handicraft industry in Rumbai District come from Riau and outside Riau (West Sumatera). The types of rattan used are rattan sega (Calamus caesius), rattan semambu (Calamus scipionum Loureiro), rattan sap (Daemonorops angustifolida Mart), rattan manau (Calamus manau), rattan dahanan (Korthalsia flageris Miq), rattan fitrit of sega and rotan cores of manau type and taboos. Stages of processing rattan handicrafts for furniture in Rumbai Subdistrict consist of modeling, framing, weaving and finishing. As for the webbing consists of determining the model, material measurement, weaving and finishing. Rattan raw material distribution channel consists of farmers collector I collector II processor finished goods processing industry and farmers collector traders processing industry. While the distribution channels and marketing of products used are producers  consumers and producers  retailers  consumers.

Abstract

Arboretum of Riau University is a habitat whom build a one connection potential habitat for wildlife and more organism. As a supporting tool that provides useful information for various purposes, booth in terms of education, social, economic and ecology. It is necessary to support the complete data by conducting research on the animals in the Arboretum of Riau University, especially mamals, to find out the large index of diversity and richness of mammals species contained in Arboretum of Riau University. This Research held on November 2016 until Januari 2017. Method used for this research is a line transects method and trap. On research location obtained result is there 9 of mammals from 6 family founded with 63 individu that founded. The indeks of species diversity in both dry line (1,93) and wet line (1,73) was moderate. Richness indeks good varieties dry line (1,97) wet line (1,80) is low. Most of mammals on Arboretum of Riau University are animals living on forest floor (teresterial), small flying mammals are met for while research only bats and kind of living animals on canopy area crown and the middle of the canopy crown (arboreal).

Abstract

Non-Timber forest products are both bio-vegetable and animal biodiversity products and their derivative and cultivation products except for timber. The role of non-timber forest product in the village of people’s love affects three aspects: it plays a role in helping the economy, labor and education. The types of non timber forest products utilized by the people of Cintarakyat village are palm sugar, gelugur acid, rubber, cinnamon, arecanut and candlenut. The average income earned by the villagers Cintarakyat from the use of non-timber forest products is Rp. 19.796.100,-/head of household per year and the average income beyond the utilization of non-timber forest products is Rp. 8.634.100,-/head of household per year.

Abstract

Mangrove (Rhizophora sp.) is one of timber forest products that have long been used and marketed traditionally in Tembilahan Subdistrict. Wood of Rhizophora sp. is utilized because it has use value needed by the inhabitants as a raw material for building construction. The high need for wood of Rhizophora sp. while the use value is still low leads to continuous exploitation. This research is conducted as a basis to measure how far the inhabitants value the existence wood of Rhizophora sp., especially in Tembilahan district through identification of determinants wood of Rhizophora sp. price. The purpose of this research is to identify the determinants factor wood of Rhizophora sp. prices in the market of District Tembilahan Indragiri Hilir. The approach being used in this research is Descriptive Qualitative analysis method. Data were obtained from in-depth interviews, field observations and document studies. Informant retrieval was done by Snowball Sampling and Census. The selling price wood of Rhizophora sp. offered to consumers varies considerably. The selling price wood of Rhizophora sp. in Tembilahan sub-district is determined by the interaction of demand and supply in the market. The traders wood of Rhizophora sp. in Tembilahan sub-district are the price taker and the established markets are perfect competitive markets

Abstract

The forest-based activities in Indonesia that were judged to increase the income of the state, leading to massive decline of forest cover. Based on this, the government has established several conservation areas. One of the areas established by the government as a conservation area is the Bukit Rimbang Bukit Baling Wildlife Sanctuary. The communities surrounding the forest generally use existing forest products, especially Non Timber Forest Products (NTFPs), so it is important to know the amount of the contribution of NTFPs to the people's income. This research was conducted in Koto Lamo Village around of Bukit Rimbang Bukit Baling Wildlife Sanctuary area, Kampar Kiri Sub-district, Kampar District, Riau Province. The research that has been done shows the economic value of each NTFPs that is utilized, namely: jengkol is Rp 245.194.444, petai is Rp 179.648.780, durian is Rp 176.685.185, kulit resak is Rp 136.123.200, kembang semangkuk is Rp 121.309.756, duku is Rp 111.100.000, rotan manau is Rp 88.698.750, fruit rotan manau is Rp 79.195.000, langsat is Rp 62.515.384, idan is Rp 38.157.473, forest rambutan is Rp 35.828.000, tampui is Rp 31.119.121, mangosteen is Rp 17.054.074, biga bambu is Rp 14.280.000, rambai is Rp 13.368.750, kulit medang is Rp 10.971.428, honey is Rp 10.368.000, cempedak is Rp 9.173.333 and kabau is Rp 2.425 .833 and contributed to the income of the Koto Lamo Village community by 43.65%.
