Abstract

Marquisa is one of favourite fruit in Indonesia. However this plant is oftenattacked by diseases, one of them is Bactrocera dorsalis. There is no information yetabout what interest Bactrocera dorsalis to marquisa does. Based on the problem, theaim of the research is effect of marquisa extrac t (Passiflora edulis varietas flavicarpa)toward Feeding Strategy of fruit fly Bactrocera dorsalis Hend. T his research wasexperimental research used cilinder Y tube method, with match treatment and includes10 repetitions. The research was conducted from October 2012 to February 2013. Theresult, show that marquisa extract have effect toward Feeding Strategy from fruit flyBactrocera dorsalis. On the searching activity, the fastest time of fruit fly reachedmarquisa was at the treatment V (75,13 seconds) although longest time was at treatmentI (256,33 seconds). On the grounding ac tivity, the fastest time of fruit fly reachedmarquisa was at the treatment V (45,23 seconds) although the longest time of treatmentI (58,7 seconds). Based on Chi-square analysis the treatment had the higher differencebetween petrogenol and marquisa extract, excepting treatment 3 ml of marquisa extractand 3 drops of petrogenol did not have real difference between petrogenol and marquisaextrac t. It cand conclude that marquisa extract had effect toward Feeding Strategy offruit fly Bactrocera dorsa lis.

Abstract

ABSTRACTPractical requires students to be able to work in the lab or in the field. By carrying out their practical acquire knowledge, understanding, and behavioral aspects of the other, and to develop the skills to live in society meaningfull. In addition, the students will find themselves contribute to arouse their interest and enthusiasm for learning. Implementation of practical activities in schools need practical guidance so that students more easily understand the material that will be practicalled. However, at school SMAN 1 Lembah Melimtang students conducting lab does not have specific guidelines or guiding practical. Accordingly, the research aimed to result a valid and practical guidance practical. This study is using a three-stage development of the 4-D models, the stage define, stage design , and development stage (develope). Test subjects were students of class XI Science SMAN  1 Lembah Melintang, amounting to 30 people. The data of this study is primary data taken from  validity and practicalities are then analyzed with descriptive analysis. Practicalities by teachers who are included in a very practical and practicalities criteria by 87.85% students with practical category. It can be conclude has produced valid and practic a guide with pictures on a cells material for class XI SMA.

Abstract

ABSTRACTMango fruit is a good fruit to use as an attractant to insect. The mango fruit contained simple sugars sucrose, glucose, and fructose and cellulose. Methyl eugenol is a compound of insect pheromones to attract the opposite sex for mating, colonize and to eat. However, the information about the mango juice and petrogenol ifman the imago to Bactrocera dorsalis feeding strategy still limited. The research aimed to determine the effect of mango juice and petrogenol to the imago Bactrocera dorsalis feeding strategy. This study is an experimental research used tubes Y. Method Feeding strategy observed were searching, grounding, and gathering. Data were analyzed using chi-square (X²) and compared to the 5% significance level. This study was conducted in July-August 2013,held at the Zoology laboratory of the Biology Department, Padang state university. The results showed that the feeding strategy Bactrocera dorsalis. Influenced by combination of mango juice with petrogenol. Best searching activity on ratio of 3:1, the best grounding in 1:2 ratio and gathering the best in the ratio of 1:3. It can be concluded that the combination petrogenol and mango juice are the best as attractants to fruit flies Bactrocera dorsalis.

Abstract

ABSTRACTPetrogenol is attractant that has light  yellow solution form. It’s active ingredient is methyl eugenol, a compound of insect pheromones to influence the contra sex for mating,      colonize and eating and beside fruit aroma is able to influence the fruit flies. However the information about the combination of petrogenol and Averrhoa carambola extract on feeding strategy of fruit flies Bactrocera dorsalis is still limited. Based on these problem so have to be made the research about the combination petrogenol influence and Starfruit extract ( Averrhoa carambola L. ) on feeding strategy of fruit flies Bactrocera dorsalis Hend. This research is  experimental research used Y tube method, with 10 treatment pairs. The research had been done  from June to August  in the Laboratory of Zoology Department of Biology, State University of Padang. Feeding strategy observed included searching, grounding and gathering. The observational dates can be analyzed by using Chi - square ( X² ) and compared them with a significance level of 5%. The research result was showed that fastest time of 792.62 seconds on searching is in combination treatment and petrogenol starfruit extract, grounding activities had longest time was 450.85 seconds on petrogenol, and gathering activities had longest time 617.45 seconds on treatment starfruit extracts. X² analysis result for each parameter of  feeding strategy of fruitflies attitude were found there were significant differences between extracts Averrhoa carambola, extract Averrhoa carambola combination and petrogenol  with petrogenol. It can be concluded that the combination of Averrhoa carambola extract and petrogenol is the best attractant for  feeding strategy of fruit flies activities Bactrocera dorsalis in terms of searching, while the petrogenol is the best attractant in terms of grounding and star fruit extract in terms of gathering is the best attractant.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Garcia is a medicinal herbal that have many benefits, not only as fresh fruit but also be healing  various  diseases.  The garcia  rind have xanthones  which  maintain  and precipitate  the formation  of  erythrocytes.  However,  the  garcia  rind  have  not  optimal  utilization  yet.  This research to know the effect of the garcia rind extract to the male mice hematocrit. The research has done at June to August  2013 in the zoology  laboratory  of biology department  faculty of mathematics and natural science Padang State University. This research used Completely Randomized   Design  (CRD)  with  4  treatments   and  6  repetitions.   Treatment   given  orally (gavage) 0.2, 0.4, and 0.6 g garcia rind extract peel per 25 g body weight for 35 days. The data of hematocrit  values were analyzed by ANOVA and continued by DNMRT. The results show hematocrit  values were 0.2 g per 25 g body weight is highest (52.20 %), whereas mice given the garcia rind extract peel  at a dose of 0.4 g (51.01 % and 0.6 g (49,20 %) per 25g per 25 g body weight  is impaired  hematocrit  although  still within  the normal  range.  From the resu lts obtained  in this research  shows F count> F table significant  0.05. It conclude  that the garcia rind extract increase the hematocrit of mice.

Abstract

The Nilaparvata lugens Stal. is a harming parasitoid crop. It’s difficult to eliminatebecause it have faster metamorphosis . This parasitoid can form blooming population in ashort time and destroy crop at all of growth phase. The aim of this research is to know theeffects of Antifeedant extrac of Pterocarpus indicus Willd. to Feeding Strategy Nilaparvatalugens Stal. This research used Completely Randomized Design ( CRD) with 4 treatment and10 replication. The treatment are concentration 0 %, 2.5 %, 5 % and 7.5 %. The data analysisby ANOVA and than continued with LSD. This experiment conducted in ZoologyLaboratory of FMIPA UNP at February 2013. Result shows that concentration 5 % activitysearching Nilaparvata lugens Stal. require time which fastest to other treatment, the activityof grounding treatment with concentration 2.5 % requiring time which quickly while atactivity of gathering treatment with concentration 7.5 % very effective to pursue to eat it.Can conclude that extract of angsana at concentration 5 % can be use antifeedant byNilaparvata lugens Stal.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Brown Mud crab (Scylla serrata Forskal) living and perform spawning in Mangrove Forests. Gonad Maturity is a certain stage of gonadal development before and after spawning. The maturing gonadal development is part of reproduction before spawning occurs. This study was conducted to determine the Gonad Maturity of Brown Mud Crab (Scylla serrata Forskal) in the Buo Gulf Mangrove, Bungus, Teluk Kabung of Padang. The research was conducted in the month of May to July 2013 using the descriptive method through gonadal morphology observations Brown mud crab (Scylla serrata Forskal). the results showed  female Brown Mud Crab recovered amounted to 72 individual. The percentage of the Month of May until July Gonad Maturity I: 8.33%, Gonad Maturity II: 16.67%,  Gonad Maturity III: 16.67% Gonad Maturity IV: 13.89% Gonad Maturity V : 44.44%. Physic-chemical factor Waters measurement reports to temperature ranges from 28.4 to 31 ° C, pH 7-8, Salinitas water 32.3 to 34.5 ppm and depth of 50 cm-2 m.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Sambiloto(Ind) or Bitter(Eng)  Andrographis paniculata Nees., is one of the traditional medicinal herb expected to be antifertility. It contain flavonoids and lactones. Lactone compound containing andrographolide which is the active ingredient of the plant that acts as antifertility. Andrographolide serves to prevent cell division (cytokinesis). This study aimed to determine the effect of extract of Bitter (Andrographis paniculata Nees.) to the sexual endurance of male mice (Mus musculus L.) Swiss Webster. This study uses CRD (Completely Randomized Design), 4 treatments each treatment consisted of 6 adult mice and watered ad libitum. The control, without any bitter extract and treatment II, III and IV were treated with Bitter  extract orally for 36 days with a dose of 0.2 g/head/day,   0.4 g/head/day and 0,6 g/head/day. After that, mating test on each test animals treated with 1 male mice mated with female mice 5 to see the amount of movement intromisi, the number off female mated and the number of pregnant mice. The results obtained were analyzed using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). The data analysis to obtain intromition average at 16.16 control, treatment of 0.2 g with an average of 14.16,  0.4 g treatment with an average of 6.33 and 0.6 g treatment on average 6.66, indicating a decrease in the number of intromition than the control treatment. For the number of mated high on average at 2.5 head control, treatment of 0.2 g on average 2.33 head, 0.4 g treatment on average 2.16 head and 0.6 g treatment an average of 2,00 while the number of pregnant mice were successfully obtained an average of 2.33 head in the control, treatment of 0.2 g on average 2 head, treatment of 0.4 g on average 1.16 head and 0.6 g treatment on average 1.33 head. It can be concluded that the extract of Bitter (Andrographis paniculata Nees.) affect the sexual endurance of male mice (Mus musculus L.).

Abstract

ABSTRACT            Ladybird is refers to plant disease found in solanaceae it was able to make big population in short time and damaged the plant for all growing phase. This research purposes to know the effect of Angsana bark Exstract toward feeding stategy of ladybird. This research was using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) 4 treatment and 10 replication. The treatment which gave that was control, the treatment with 2,5 %, 5 %, and 7,5 % concentrated. The data was analyzed by ANOVA and continued by BNT. This research was done in Zoologi Laboratorium of Biologi Department UNP at August 2013. The result of analysis was found that in treatment 2,5 % searching activity koksi of bumblebee needed the fast time was compared with onthers, of grounding activity was found in control for fastest time meanwhile in gathering activity treatment with 5 % concentrated was more effective to bloked the concumn of koksi bumblebee. It ean be conwded that the effect of Angsana Skin Extract 5 % can use as Antifidant and Atractan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT learning process can be done well if the interaction between teachers and students. Moreover, learning is also supported by appropriate learning media. teachers should use the media within their learning needs students who are taught. As for one of the materials that can be in use as an aid students in understanding the biology of learning material sytem digestion is illustrated handout that accompanied the map concept. based on this, has done research on the development of pictorial handout material with a concept map on the digestive system for junior high school students are valid and practical. This type of research is the development of research, using 4D models that consist of four hapan ie, defaine, design, develop, and dessiminate. however, in this study, stage dessiminete not done. handout developed validated by the validator and the practicalities of four topical done one teacher and class VIII SMP 10Solok Selatan. Data in this study were primary data obtained from questionnaires validity assessment and practicalities. Data were analyzed using analysis describtive. of this study produced a product in the form of a pictorial handout material with a concept map on the digestive system for junior high school students. handout produced has an average value of86.98%  with  the  criterion  validity valid,  while  average  scores  by teachers  practicalities93.05% and 92.80% of students with very practical criteria. it can be concluded that the pictorial handout material with a concept map on the digestive system for junior high school students valid and very practical.
