Abstract

ABSTRACT The use of insecticide often exceed the dose should be in addition to harmful to health, the environment and also have an impact on-non target animal, one of them earthworm. This study on the effect of the insecticide Diazinon 600 EC to fecundity and viability of earthworm cocoons Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. Mull. It has been conducted in-July – Augustus 2013, housed in the zoology laboratory biology, Padang State University.This research  is an experiment using the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments 6 replications. The treatmens were Diazinon 600 EC with 0 g/l (A), 0,002 g/l (B), 0,004 g/l (C), and 0,006 g/l (D) mixed with media. Parameters in this study were the fecundity and viability of earthworm cocoons Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. Mull.The average number of cocoons fecundity and viability of earthworm cocoons Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. Mull found highest in treatment A (40) and the lowest cocoons treatment D (0). While the average percentage hatchability Pontoscolex corethrurus earhworm cocoons were highest in  A, B, and C were 100% and the lowest concentration of D(0 %). It can coucluded that the insecticide Diazinon 600 EC can reduce fecundity cocoon, but had no effect on the viability of earthworm cocoons Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. Mull.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBitter (Androgrhaphis paniculata Nees.) used as a medicinal plant, has a chemical content usefull to the body. One of the active compounds of bitter is andrographolide serves as Immunomodulatory which may affect  to the number of erythrocytes mice. To determine the value of erythrocytes can be seen hematocrit. This research has conducted at Padang State University to determine the effect of extracts of bitter (Andrographis paniculata Nees.) to hematocrit mice (Mus musculus L.) Swiss Webster. This study was conducted in July-August 2013 in the Laboratory of Zoology Department of Biology , Padang State University. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments 6 replications. The dose were given A = 0 g/mice/day, B = 0.2 g/mice/day, C = 0.4 g/mice/ day, and D = 0.6 g/ mice/day. In this study used male mice (Mus musculus L.) Swiss Webste aged 11-12 weeks. Hematocrit was determined by Microhematocrit. Taking blood by cutting edge mice, aspirated by using a micro hematocrit, then centrifuged at 20,000 rpm. After it looking to the graph. Data were analyzed ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) at level α of 5%. The test results obtained F value 3.79 while the F table 3.10, F count > F 3.10 and conducted further tests with DNMRT (Ducan New Multiple Range Test). Results showed the extract bitter (Andrographis paniculata Nees.) Significantly affected the hematocrit value to mice (Mus musculus L.). In the B (0.2 g/mice/ day)  treatment increased hematocrit, while the enhanced dose treatment C (0.4 g/mice/ day)   and D (0.4 g/mice/ day) there is a decrease, but still above normal (control). It can be concluded that the extract of bitter (Andrographis paniculata Nees.) can increase the hematocrit mice (Mus musculus L.) Swiss Webster.

Abstract

Marquisa is one of favourite fruit in Indonesia. However this plant is oftenattacked by diseases, one of them is Bactrocera dorsalis. There is no information yetabout what interest Bactrocera dorsalis to marquisa does. Based on the problem, theaim of the research is effect of marquisa extrac t (Passiflora edulis varietas flavicarpa)toward Feeding Strategy of fruit fly Bactrocera dorsalis Hend. T his research wasexperimental research used cilinder Y tube method, with match treatment and includes10 repetitions. The research was conducted from October 2012 to February 2013. Theresult, show that marquisa extract have effect toward Feeding Strategy from fruit flyBactrocera dorsalis. On the searching activity, the fastest time of fruit fly reachedmarquisa was at the treatment V (75,13 seconds) although longest time was at treatmentI (256,33 seconds). On the grounding ac tivity, the fastest time of fruit fly reachedmarquisa was at the treatment V (45,23 seconds) although the longest time of treatmentI (58,7 seconds). Based on Chi-square analysis the treatment had the higher differencebetween petrogenol and marquisa extract, excepting treatment 3 ml of marquisa extractand 3 drops of petrogenol did not have real difference between petrogenol and marquisaextrac t. It cand conclude that marquisa extract had effect toward Feeding Strategy offruit fly Bactrocera dorsa lis.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Tinospora crispa (brotowali) is known as a dill in Indonesia. Brotowali have bioactive compounds which useful for medicine. It can found at all part of this plant. Tinospora crispa stem has bitter kolumbin, alcaloid and glicoside. Alcaloid is antiproliferative. This antiproliferative can reduce the amount of oosit which is produced and decrease the amount of oosit which is ovulated so it affects the reproduction performance of mice. This research has purpose to know the effect of Tinospora crispa extract to the reproduction performance of mice. This research is experimantal research used female mice (Mus musculus L.) as many as 24 female mice which are divided into 4 treatments and 6 replication. The treatments given is brotowali extract with variety of dosages, they are: K is control, P1 treatment (5x10-2), P2 (6x10-2) and P3 (7x10-2) gram/mice. The parameterobserved is the amount of  corpus Luteum, implantations, resorptions, died fetus and alive fetus. The data is parametric which is measured by Analisis of Varians then by DNMRT. The result shows that brotowali extract to the female mice with 0 day till  16th   day pregnance has significantly higher (p<0,05) to the amount of corpus Luteum, the alive fetus, the died fetus and resorption. While, the amount of implantation has not significantly. Thus, it can be concluded that brotowali extract for the female mice  pregnant have embryotoxic and fetotoxic effects.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of bark extract (Pterocarpus indicus Willd.) on the quality of epididymal mice spermatozoa (Mus musculus L. Swiss Webster). This experiment used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 3 treatments and 9 replications. K is the control with no treament and bark extract. Treatment of P1 and P2 are given treament  bark extract orally for 35 days at dosages of 0,1gr/b.w and 0,2 gr/ b.w, After treament the mice decapitatied and surgical the epididymal taken to count the number of sperm with Improved Neubauer method for calculating and used Eosin staining of normal and abnormal spermatozoa. Data were analyzed by ANOVA (Analysis Of Varians) and followed DNMRT. The result showed the average number of spermatozoa P2 is 56.38 × 105 significantly different (p < 0.05) compared to P1 54.05 × 105 and K48.22 × 105. While the average number of abnormal spermatozoa in K 12.27 × 105 and P1 23.33 × 105 and P227.94 × 105. It can be concluded that the bark extract given orally for 35 days can reduce the quality of sperm and increase abnormal of sperm.

Abstract

ABSTRACT  Mangosteen is one of the traditional medicinal herb which is expected to be antifertilitas. In these plants contain chemical Xanthon. The components Xanthon this contains. Mangostin which is  the  active substance, from this plant that acts an antifertilitas. Mangostin serves to prevent cell division (Sitokinesis). This study aims to determine the effect of mangosten pell extract (Garcinia Mangostana L.). On reproductive performance of mice (Mus Musculus L.Swiss webster). This research is the use of animal experiments female mice  (Mus  Musculus  L.  Swiss  Webster)  as  much  as  four  treatment  and  six  repeat.  Treatment  given  is mangosteen   rind extract with various dose namely: Treatment is A the control, without being given the mangosteen. Rind extract, treatment B,C, and D treatment is given mangosteen extract twenty-four days. With each  dose B,C, and D parameter was observed holding weight. Parameters measured were the parent  weight, the amount of the corpus luteum, Implantation, reseption, fetal death, fetal life and the average body weight of the fetus. Data were tasted by ANOVA (Analisis of varians) are parametric, then a further test with BNT on the degre 5%. The results showed that extracts of mangosteen rind (Garcinia Mangostana L.) effect on weight gain that is the parent of each treatment were significantly different when compered with control. The average number of corpus luteum and implanation has decreased in B,C, and D when compared with controls A. Fetus life experience decreased in dose B,C,and D when compared to the   control A. It can be concluded that mangosteen peel extract fed orally for twenty-four dayas. Parent cause weight gain, a decrease in the amount of the corpus luteum, a decrease in the number of Implantation and decrease the number of live feuteus.

Abstract

 Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of bark extracts (Pterocarpus indicus Willd.) on mice fertility (Mus musculus L. Swiss Webster) males. This study used a CRD (Completely Randomized Design) with the use of test animals (male mice) of3 treatments each treatment consisted of 9 adult mice were given food and drink are adlibitium. K treatment without any extract angsana, treatme nts P1 and P2 is the treatment given   angsana extract orally for 36 days with a doseges of 0,1 gr/ b.w and 0,2 gr/ b.w. after granting the extract angsana mating test on each test animal treatment using 1 male mice with female mice 5 to see the number of succesful female mice pregnant. The data analyzed by ANOVA (Analysis Of Varians) and continued with LSD. The results bowed the number of moting female mice 2,8 K. An average P1 of 2,6 and P2 2,4. The number of pregnant female mice were successful average K 2,6, average P1 2.0 and P2 1.2. It can be concluded that the extract of the stem bark of angsana (Pterocarpus indicus Willd.) were given orally for 36 days affects the fertility of mice (Mus musculus L. Swiss Webster) males.

Abstract

 Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) is a traditional remedy containing xanthone compounds. Xanthones are the active compounds in the mangosteen rind that is as an immunomodulator, so that it can stabilize erythrocytes in the body and can normalize or optimize the work of the immune system so that the components in the blood stable. Xanthone compounds play a role in accelerating the formation of red blood cells in the blood. This study aims to determine the effect of extracts of mangosteen rind (Garcinia mangostana L.) against Hematocrit mice (Mus musculus L. Swiss Webster) females. This study is an experimental study using animal mice (Mus musculus L. Swiss Webster) Females as 4 treatments and 6 replications. The treatments were mangosteen rind extract with dose variations, namely K is the control treatment, without being given the mangosteen peel extract, treatment of P1, P2 and P3 are given treatment mangosteen extract orally for 26 days with doses of 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 mg / head / day. Parameters measured were the percentage of hematocrit values. Data is tested with parametric ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). The results showed that the extract of mangosteen peel (Garcinia mangostana L.) had no effect on hematocrit values. The percentage of hematocrit value in P1 is 44.98 %, ie 46.30 % P2, P3 are47.89 % and 44.07 % of control. It can be concluded that mangosteen peel extract fed orally for 26 days on a statistical test had no significant effect on hematocrit values but the result showed an increase.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Mangosteen ( Garcinia mangostana L. ) is one of tradisional medicine contains mangostin soul. Mangostin has effect to prevent cell division ( cytokinesis ). This research to determine the effect of extracts of mangosteen ( Garcinia mangostana L. ) on the mating ability of male mice ( Mus musculus L. Swiss Webster). This research use the male mice ( Mus musculus L.) by 4 treatment and 6 repetition. Treatment that is given is an extract of mangosteen with various dose are: treatment 1 is an control, treatment II, III, and IV are the treatments which are given the extract of mangosteen orally during 36 days with a dose of   0.2, 04 and 0.6 g / head / day. After the administration of mangosteen extract , mating ability test on each test 1 male mated with 5 female mice to see the amount of   intromision, the number of female mice pregnant female mice. The analyzed using ANOVA ( Analysis of Variance ) and then continue test with LSD test at α level of5%. The result showed an average movement of the control is 14,66 intromisi not significanty different from treatment A is 13,83 and decine intromisi movement occurs on treatment B with an average of 6,5 and an average of 5,66 C treatment. For the number of female mice in mamage to male mice in each treatment was not significanty different compared with controls mared each 2 tail. While the number of oregnant  female mice were successful, namely 2,33 in control and not significanty different  from treatment  A  with  an  average  of  2,00,  a  decrease in  the  average treatment B and C average 1,33 and 1,00 It can be concluded that the extract of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) were administered orally for 36 days at a does of o 0,4 g /head /day did not affect mating mice but decrease the number of pregnant female mice.

Abstract

ABSTRACT  As the development of catfish cultivating in needs to be supported by the provision of sufficient seed  in  term  of  quality  and  quantity. Therefore,  it  is  necessary  to  improve  techniques  of  catfish hatchery. In the seeding technique, cultivators should consider these factors in the hatching process including water quality. This research aims to know the influence of dikofol organochlorine insecticides against the hatching rate of eggs, normal and abnormal larvae in catfish. This research was conducted in November 2013 at the Zoology Laboratory of biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Scince Padang State University. This research is experimental research, used Completely Randomized Design (CRD), 4 treatments and 6 replications. With A treatment   (control), B treatment (0.001%), C treatment (0.002%), and D treatment (0.003%). Observations were made on eggs that hatched into larvae after 2 days incubation. The data in research on hatching rate of eggs, normal and abnormal larvae in catfish were analyzed by ANOVA, and continued by LSD. The results show that hatching rate of egg in A treatment (91.67%), B (81.67%), C (77.50%) and D (74.17%). In normal larvae obtained the highest results on A treatment (99.00%), while the lowest in D treatment (96.00%), for abnormal larvae obtained the highest results in D treatment (3.66%), while the lowest in A treatment (0.93%). It can be concluded that dikofol organochlorine insecticides decreased the  hatching rate of egg and  normal larvae, and increased an abnormal larvae in catfish.
