Abstract

This article describes the improvement of students` readingcomprehension achievement by using authentic reading materials from internet. Theresearch design is classroom action research and the research area was at SMPN 9Jember chosen by using purposive method. The data collection methods were a test,observation, interview, and documentation. The research subjects were the studentsof VIII-C at the school chosen purposively. The results of observation showed thatthe students` participation was improved from 77% in Cycle 1 to 82% in Cycle 2.The students` reading comprehension achievement was also improved from 77% inCycle 1 and 89% in Cycle 2. It can be concluded that the use of authentic readingmaterials from internet can improve the eighth grade students` active participationand their reading comprehension achievement. Therefore the English teacher shoulduse authentic reading materials from internet to teach reading comprehension.

Abstract

Pajak merupakan sarana yang digunakan untuk melaksanakan pembangunan, fasilitas pendidikan, kesehatan, serta infrastruktur lainnya. Maka masyarakat diwajibkan patuh dan taat akan membayar pajak. Pajak juga merupakan punggutan wajib pemerintah berdasarkan Undang-Undang. Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk menyelidiki dampak kesadaran pajak dan aplikasi e-filing bagi Ketaatan wajib pajak di KPP Pratama Tuban, dengan ancangan kuantitatif. Data primer diperoleh melalui kuesioner. Ada dua variabel bebas pada studi ini, yakni kesadaran pajak dan aplikasi e-filling; serta satu variabel dependen, yakni Ketaatan wajib pajak. Teknik pengambilan sample menggunakan metode simple random sampling untuk memperoleh sample 100 wajib pajak di KPP Pratama Tuban. Dari hasil studi diperoleh: 1) 0,26 dengan p-value <0.01, yang berarti kesadaran pajak berpengaruh bagi ketaatan wajib pajak; 2) 0.60 dengan p-value <0.01, yang berarti aplikasi e-filing berdampak kepada ketaatan wajib pajak.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk menganalisis penerapan dan sistem pemungutan Pajak Pertambahan Nilai pada PT. Surya Trias Gemilang. Metode pengkajian ini yakni deskriptif kualitatif, Hasil pengkajian membuktikan jika PT. Surya Trias Gemilang sudah menetapkan tarif PPN dan memungut pajak berlandaskan pada Undang-Undang Nomor 42 Tahun 2009, namun PT. Surya Trias Gemilang terlambat membayar kurang bayar PPN pada SPT Masa PPN bulan Februari 2018, keterlambatan ini dapat menyebabkan perusahaan dikenai sanksi administrasi berlandaskan pada Undang-Undang Nomor 42.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve the seventh-grade students’ reading comprehension achievement by using K-W-L strategy at SMPN 2 Kunir Lumajang. Classroom action research design was used in this study with the 30 students of 7C class in SMPN 2 Kunir Lumajang as the research participants. The data was collected by using reading comprehension test to know the improvement of reading comprehension achievement and using classroom observation field note to know the strengths and weaknesses of the action. The criterion of success is at least 75% of the students got the minimum score of 65 in the test. The findings revealed that K-W-L strategy improves the students’ reading comprehension achievement. The students become more active and the activity of brainstorming their background knowledge before reding helps them most to get the gist of the text. Overall, the results imply that K-W-L strategy is good in assisting the students to comprehend the reading text.

Abstract

English is considered as the major foreign language to learn in Indonesia. English is mainly taught in Indonesian classrooms as a required subject, but it is not given as a daily communication language. Dealing with reading comprehension of English texts, English teachers seem to look for the most effective way to teach reading skill to get reading comprehension. One learning model that can be applied as an alternative for teaching reading comprehension is Project-Based Learning (PBL). This research used a qualitative descriptive approach. The data taken were interview of the students based on their experiences in dealing with Project-Based Learning (PBL). The results of thematic analysis showed: (1) The students’ perceptions on the English teacher’s overview in explaining the application of Project-Based Learning (PBL); (2) The students’ perceptions on the English teacher’s explanation about the meaning of Project-Based Learning (PBL); (3) The students’ perceptions on the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in the classroom; (4) The students’ perceptions on the benefit of using Project-Based Learning (PBL) in the classroom; (5) The students’ perceptions on the difficulty of doing Project-Based Learning (PBL) task. The research findings and discussion revealed that those five perceptions were the students’ perceptions.

Abstract

Vocabulary has a very important role in learning English. Without having good ability in vocabulary, learning English cannot be achieved well. Therefore, students’ vocabulary achievement must be enhanced. One of the ways to enhance the students’ vocabulary achievement is by using online dictionary. This classroom action research with cycle model from Kemmis & Mc Taggart aimed to enhance the eighth grade students’ vocabulary achievement by using online dictionary and to know how it could enhance the students’ participation during the teaching and learning process of vocabulary. The research participants were the VIII J students of MTsN 5 Ngawi, East Java, Indonesia. The data were collected by using a vocabulary test and observation during the teaching and learning process of vocabulary. Quantitative and qualitative descriptive analyses were used to analyze the collected data. The research results showed that there was improvement of the students’ vocabulary achievement and their active participation by using online dictionary. The improvement of the students’ vocabulary achievement was from 67.64% of the students got target score in pre-cycle to 82.35% of the students got the target score in the first cycle. The improvement of the percentage of the students’ participation was 75% in pre-cycle to 83.7% in the first cycle. Hence, it is suggested for English teachers to use online dictionary in the process of teaching and learning vocabulary to improve the students’ active participation and their vocabulary achievement.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji hubungan kinerja keuangan dengan nilai perusahaan pada perusahaan batubara yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia, dengan menggunakan tanggung jawab sosial perusahaan sebagai variabel intervening. Jenis penelitian ini bersifat kuantitatif menggunakan pendekatan purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 70. menggunakan aplikasi SmartPLS 4.0 untuk PLS (Partial Least Square). Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanggung jawab sosial perusahaan dan kinerja keuangan mempunyai dampak besar terhadap nilai suatu perusahaan. Kinerja keuangan tidak memiliki pengaruh pada CSR. Corporate Social Responsibility tidak dapat memediasi pengaruh kinerja keuangan terhadap nilai perusahaan. Kontribusi penelitian ini, untuk memahami peran Corporate Social Responsibility dalam memediasi pengaruh kinerja keuangan terhadap nilai perusahaan.

Abstract

This study examined the effect of investment knowledge, technological progress, and campus support capacity on student investment interest. The subjects in this study were accounting students at the National Development University "Veteran" East Java class of 2019-2022, which has a population of 1,158 students. Simple random sampling obtained a sample of 92 respondents. Data collection using questionnaires distributed by Google Forms. Technical analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the Partial Least Square (PLS) approach through the SmartPLS 3.0 software application. The results of this study indicate that the better investment knowledge students have will likely encourage student investment interest. Meanwhile, technological progress in the investment process has not been able to increase the investment interest of UPN "Veteran" East Java Accounting students. Campus support in the form of investment management and investment law courses and other facilities can increase student interest in investment

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the view of Islamic law regarding the practice of online entrustment services on social media, and what risks and opportunities are felt by online entrustment service business actors on social media. This research is included in the type of qualitative research. Data collection for this thesis is the result of observation, literature study, interviews and documentation. In data analysis techniques, this research uses several stages, namely data collection, data presentation, data reduction, and finally drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the research, it is concluded that, firstly, the practice of entrusting services on social media in the view of Islamic law is legal and permissible as long as it does not violate the rules and there are no arguments that forbid it. The contract from the practice of jastip itself is a wakalah bil ujrah contract, namely an agreement between both parties (representative and muwakkil), where a muwakkil gives authority to the representative to do something in exchange for giving ujrah (fee/wages) to the representative. Second, the risk of the practice of entrusting services, namely the potential for financial losses due to additional fees, import duties and taxes; product damage, and business competition. Meanwhile, opportunities for entrusted service practice include the use of information and communications technology (ICT); consumer expansion, and increasing relationships.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the implementation of good governance, competence of the apparatus, and the government's internal control system on the quality of the Surabaya City Government's financial reports. The research method used is quantitative. The object of this research is all Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) in the form of services and agencies of the Surabaya City Government. The research population includes 207 government officials and agencies involved in financial management in the Surabaya City Government. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling method. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires, while the data analysis technique used SEM PLS with SmartPLS software. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of good governance, the competence of the apparatus and the government's internal control system have contributed to the quality of the financial reports of the Surabaya City Government. This shows that the higher the implementation of good governance, the competence of the apparatus and the government's internal control system, the quality of the financial reports of the Surabaya City government will increase.
