Abstract

Abstract

Food security remains a crucial challenge for Indonesia, a country with a large population facing climate uncertainty and limited domestic productivity. This study analyzes the role of import deregulation as a strategy to improve national food security. Through a comprehensive literature review and policy analysis, the article explores how non-tariff barriers, quota systems, and complex licensing processes have contributed to high domestic food prices compared to international market prices. The study shows that strict protectionist policies are often counterproductive to food accessibility, especially for low-income groups. The proposed deregulation strategy includes a transition from quota systems to more transparent tariffs, streamlining import licensing bureaucracy, and synchronizing national food data. The study argues that import deregulation, if managed with proper oversight, not only increases the physical availability of food but also strengthens food security through price stability and supply chain efficiency. These policy implications are expected to provide a framework for the government to balance the protection of domestic farmers with consumers' rights to affordable food.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effects of compensation and absenteeism on work productivity at PT Rumah Ice Cream Indonesia in South Jakarta, both partially and simultaneously. This study uses an associative quantitative method. The sampling technique uses a saturated sample of 62 respondents. Data analysis techniques used include data instrument testing: classical assumption testing, simple linear regression, multiple linear regression, correlation coefficient, and coefficient of determination. Hypothesis testing uses t-tests and F-tests. The results of the analysis show that compensation partially affects work productivity with a simple linear regression equation of Y = 23.016 + 0.383 X1. The correlation coefficient value of 0.663 indicates a strong relationship, and the coefficient of determination of 0.439 indicates that work productivity is influenced by compensation by 43.9%. This is proven by the t-test, which obtained a t-value > t- table (5.569>1.670) and reinforced by a significance value < 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). The level of absenteeism partially has a positive effect on productivity, as shown by the simple linear regression equation Y = 23.016 + 0.214 X2. The correlation coefficient value of 0.520 means that there is a moderate relationship, and the coefficient of determination of 27% means that work productivity is influenced by the level of absenteeism by 27%. This is proven by the t-test, which obtained a t- value > t-table (3.192>1.670) and is reinforced by a significance value < 0.05 (0.002 < 0.05). The results of the study on compensation and absenteeism simultaneously influential affecting employee performance are shown by the multiple linear regression equation Y = 23.016 + 0.383X1 + 0.214X2. with a correlation coefficient of 0.722, meaning that there is a very strong relationship, and a coefficient of determination of 0.522, meaning that work productivity is influenced by compensation and absenteeism by 52.2%. This is proven by the results of the F test hypothesis, which obtained a calculated F value > F table (32.154> 3.156) and reinforced by a significance value < 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). Thus, it is proven that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.

Abstract

Induction of polyploidy in orchids can cause morphological changes such as larger leaf and flower sizes, longer bloom durations, and sharper flower colors. Morphological characterization needs to be done to determine the morphological changes that occur after colchicine treatment. This study aims to determine the morphological characters of natural orchids Phalaenopsis spp. polyploidy induction using colchicine. The research was carried out from November 2021-February 2022 at the Screen House, Faculty of Agriculture, UNS. The plant materials used included P. violacea from Sulawesi, P. violacea from Java, and P. Ambilis from Ambon. The treatment used was colchicine 1,250 ppm which was applied to flower buds using the cotton method with 2 replications. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive analysis and paired T-test using IBM SPSS Statistics 26 to compare the average performance of mutant plants with control plants. Induction of polyploidy using colchicine with a concentration of 1,250 ppm could increase the size of leaves, flower stalks, flowers, dorsal and lateral sepals, and petals in P. violacea from Java, P. violacea from Sulawesi, and P. amabilis from Ambon.

Abstract

Pest attacks are one of the main obstacles in the cultivation of long beans (Vigna unguiculata ssp. sesquipedalis) in Indonesia. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of cyanide acid content from various parts of the rubber cassava plant (Manihot glaziovii) in controlling Aphis craccivora pests and its impact on the growth and yield of long beans. The study was conducted in Sragen and the Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Tunas Pembangunan University, Surakarta during September–December 2024 with a completely randomized block design (RAKL) with two factors, namely plant parts (leaves, tuber skin, and tubers) and extract doses (0, 10, 20, and 30 ml/plant). The results showed that tuber skin fermentation (B2) was the most effective in reducing the percentage of pest attacks (30.80%) and attack intensity (40.44%). The treatment dose of 30 ml/plant (K4) gave the best results in suppressing pest attacks and increasing growth and yield parameters, such as plant length (141.64 cm), fresh stalk weight (1905.77 g), and fruit weight (497.22 g). The bioactive content in cassava tuber skin has the potential as a pest control agent as well as a plant growth stimulant. This study supports the use of environmentally friendly and sustainable local biopesticides to increase the productivity of long beans.

Abstract

Rhizoctonia mycorrhiza is an endophytic fungus that plays an important role in orchid growth and can increase plant resistance to environmental stress and pathogens. The purpose of this study was to examine the morphology and anatomy of Rhizoctonia mycorrhiza isolated from four Phalaenopsis orchid species. The study used a quantitative descriptive method through direct observation and analysis of the percentage of hyphal cell nuclei. The results showed that the four Rhizoctonia mycorrhiza isolates had different colony morphological characteristics. Isolates from Phalaenopsis venosa had brownish-white colonies with rapid mycelial growth, isolates from Phalaenopsis amabilis showed grayish-white colonies with thinner growth and Phalaenopsis celebensis, colonies were white-brown and began to form dark masses suspected to be sclerotia. Meanwhile, isolates from Phalaenopsis gigantea showed white-dark green colonies with a circular growth pattern and rapid spread. Anatomical observations showed that all isolates had the typical characteristics of Rhizoctonia, namely hyphal branching at a 90° angle, septate hyphae, and the presence of more than one cell nucleus. Based on the count of 120 hyphal cells, isolates from P. venosa (63.3%), P. amabilis (66.6%), and P. gigantea (60%) were dominated by binucleate cells, while isolates from P. celebensis (70%) were dominated by multinucleate cells. This indicates the physiological diversity of Rhizoctonia mycorrhiza among orchid species. Thus, this study confirms that the roots of four species of Phalaenopsis orchid species contain Rhizoctonia mycorrhiza with morphological and anatomical variations that can be used as an inoculum source for the development of orchid cultivation as well as further research related to its physiological function and application as a biological agent.

Abstract

A Limited Liability Company (Perseroan Terbatas or PT) is a legal entity that plays an important role in economic activities, including share ownership arrangements that may involve nominee mechanisms. The use of nominees gives rise to legal and tax issues, particularly in determining the party who is actually responsible for tax obligations, namely between the formal shareholder and the party who substantively enjoys the economic benefits (beneficial owner). The distinction between formal and substantive ownership may result in tax disputes and legal uncertainty, as reflected in Tax Court Decision Number PUT-002784.25/2019/PP/M.XB concerning an Income Tax dispute related to share ownership, in which the tax authority imposed tax liability based on formal ownership, while the appellant denied being the party that received the economic benefits. This study employs a normative juridical method using statutory, doctrinal, and case law approaches. The results indicate that the determination of tax liability must be based on the principle of substance over form by prioritizing economic substance over formal legal structure. The Tax Court’s decision underscores the importance of proving substantive ownership in determining tax obligations and the necessity of clear regulations on nominee arrangements and beneficial ownership to ensure legal certainty, transparency, and tax compliance.
