Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the reproductive performance of Kacang goats in a closed population area of Oro-Oro Farm located in Sawohan Village, Buduran Subdistrict, Sidoarjo Regency. We used 146 Kacang goat with a range of parity from 1 to > 7. Data analysis was carried out using the ANOVA test, Least Significant Difference (LSD) test, coefficient of variation test and descriptive test to measure litter size, pre-weaning mortality, kidding interval (KI), days open (DO) and Kacang goat reproduction index. The results showed that the highest litter size was 1.69 ± 0.63 at parity 6, the lowest pre-weaning mortality at parity > 7 was 11.76%, the shortest kidding interval and days open was at parity 4 for 7.35 ± 1.22 and 2.35 ± 1.22 months, respectively. The best Kacang goat reproduction index was 2.22 at parity 6 with coefficient of variation of 38.06%, 41.08% and 13.36% for litter size (LS), days open (DO), kidding interval (KI). Conclusively, there was a diverse reproductive performance of Kacang goats in the closed population area of Oro-Oro Farm located in Sawohan Village, Buduran Subdistrict, Sidoarjo Regency based on parity 1 to > 7, in which the higher the parity, the higher the reproductive performance. However, parity 5 onwards saw a declining reproductive performance due to weakened livestock conditions.

Abstract

Morphometric characterization is the basis of conservation strategies, performance improvement, breeding, and sustainable utilization plan. The purpose of this research was to determine the morphometrics of the Kacang Goats at the fishpond area in Sidoarjo Regency based on different ages and sex. The fishpond area in Sidoarjo is a closed area where goats are raised and have the potential for inbreeding with the consequence of smaller-sized offspring than normal. Morphometric measurements included the head, ears, neck, body, legs, tail, and horns. This research used a descriptive analysis approach, presenting data in form of mean, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation. The result showed that the average face length of male vs. female Kacang goats was 16.73 ± 2.40 cm vs. 19.68 ± 2.44 cm; with a face width of 11.25 ± 2.91 cm vs. 19.52 ± 3.18 cm; ear length of 14.62 ± 1.38 cm vs. 16.46 ± 1.47 cm; neck length of 15.53 ± 2.65 cm vs. 15.35 ± 2.14 cm; horn length of 7.41 ± 4.10 cm vs. 6.59 ± 2.89 cm; chest circumference of 59.33 ± 8.18 cm vs. 67.80 ± 6.32 cm; body length of 51.45 ± 6.70 cm vs. 56.91 ± 6.54 cm; body height of 54.41 ± 7.22 cm vs. 62.01 ± 5.53 cm; tail length of 13.21 ± 2.01 cm vs. 14.77 ± 3.37 cm; hind leg length of 39.20 ± 5.26 cm vs. 47.74 ± 5.47 cm; and front leg length of 37.00 ± 8.84 cm vs. 44.63 ± 8.65 cm. This research concludes that Kacang Goats in Sidoarjo has characteristics according to SNI standard, and the morphometric size was larger in female than male goats.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. Galur kambing Senduro ditetapkan melalui Keputusan Menteri Pertanian Republik Indonesia Nomor 1055/Kpts/SR.120/10/2014. Kambing Senduro sebagai kekayaan sumber daya genetik ternak lokal Indonesia memiliki fenotip yang dapat diukur berdasarkan sifat kuantitatifnya. Penelitian pertama bertujuan untuk mengkaji fenotip kambing Senduro betina berdasarkan pada tinggi pundak, panjang badan, lingkar dada, bobot badan, dan panjang telinga. Penelitian kedua bertujuan menghubungkan sifat kuantitatif dengan umur ternak. Penelitian pertama menggunakan metode observasi, sedangkan penelitian kedua menggunakan metode korelasi. Data penelitian ditabulasi dan dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif dan analisis korelasi dengan menggunakan Microsoft Excel 2010 dan SPSS 26.0. Pengamatan dilakukan pada 102 ekor kambing Senduro betina. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kambing Senduro betina memiliki tinggi pundak 70-80 cm (55,88%), panjang badan 70-80 cm (53,92%), lingkar dada 80-90 cm (59,80%), bobot badan 50-60 kg (32,35%), dan panjang telinga 30-40 cm (69,61%). Panjang badan, lingkar dada, dan bobot badan memiliki korelasi positif yang sangat kuat dengan umur ternak. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan bahwa perlu adanya upaya pembaharuan data dan informasi terkait fenotip kambing Senduro yang berkaitan dengan sifat kuantitatif ternak yang mengacu pada Keputusan Menteri Pertanian Republik Indonesia Nomor 1055/Kpts/SR.120/10/2014.(Phenotype study of Senduro goats as wealth of Indonesian local livestock genetic resources)ABSTRAK. The Senduro goat breed was determined through the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1055/Kpts/SR.120/10/2014. The Senduro goat as a wealth of genetic resources for local Indonesian livestock has a phenotype that can be measured based on its quantitative characteristics. The first study aimed to examine the phenotype of female Senduro goats based on shoulder height, body length, chest circumference, body weight, and ear length. The second study aimed to evaluate quantitative characteristics with the age of Senduro goat. The first research uses the observation method, while the second research uses the correlation method. Observations were made on 102 female Senduro goats. The results showed that female Senduro goats had a shoulder height of 70-80 cm (55.88%), body length 70-80 cm (53.92%), chest circumference 80-90 cm (59.80%), body weight 50 -60 kg (32.35%), and ear length 30-40 cm (69.61%). Body length, chest circumference, and body weight have a very strong positive correlation with the age of Senduro goat. This study recommends that efforts to update data and information related to the phenotype of the Senduro goat related to the quantitative characteristics of Senduro goat are needed which refers to the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1055/Kpts/SR.120/10/2014.

This study aims to analyze the linear size of the bodies of participated cow used in the progeny test of dairy cows in KAN Jabung, Malang, East Java. The material used consisted of 180 lactating cows emplyed as participated cows. The research employed was a survey with data collection throught purposive sampling, selecting cows that are lactating based on specific criteria. The data were analyzed using correlation analysis and simple linear regression. The results of the study, revealed correlation values between body weight, chest circumference, body length, height with body condition score (BCS), as follows: 0,3542; 0,3523; 0,1926; 0,3198 respectively. Meanwhile, the correlation values of chest circumference, body length, and height with body were found to be: 0,9990; 0,5381; 0,4528, respectively. In conclusion, this study determined that the highest correlation of participated cow linear body size was observed in the relationship between chest circumference and body weight, while the lowest correlation was found in the relationship between body length and BCS.

Abstract

Kegiatan Doktor Mengabdi (DM) tentang Good Farming Practices telah dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Umbulsari, Kabupaten Jember. Program ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak dalam meningkatkan produktivitas kambing dan domba, untuk mendukung pencapaian Sustainable Development Goals. Metode kegiatan meliputi penyuluhan, pelatihan dan pendampingan. Hasil kegiatan DM yang melibatkan 35 peternak sangat baik dan positif, hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai posttest dari seluruh kegiatan skornya rata-rata lebih dari 80 poin. Pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi penyuluhan dan demonstrasi mengenai beberapa topik terkait manajemen pemeliharaan kambing domba. Sepuluh topik kegiatan telah berhasil dilaksanakan, proyek selanjutnya perlu ditujukan untuk mendorong penyerapan Teknologi Tepat Guna yang telah ada.

Abstract

Good dairy farming pratices (GDFP) merupakan standar yang digunakan untuk melaksanakan praktik-praktik beternak sapi perah yang baik sehingga susu yang dihasilkan berkualitas dan aman berasal dari sapi perah yang sehat dan sejahtera. Penelitian ini dilakukan peternakan sapi perah rakyat di Kabupaten Kediri dan Kota Batu dengan responden yang berjumlah 24 peternak sapi perah Frisien Holstein (FH). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui observasi lapang, pengisian kuesioner dan wawancara secara langsung dengan peternak. Substansi kuisioner meliputi tujuh aspek yang terdiri dari aspek pembibitan dan reproduksi, aspek pemberian pakan dan minum, aspek manajemen pengelolaan, aspek kandang dan peralatan, aspek kesejahteraan ternak, aspek kesehatan ternak dan aspek sosial ekonomi. Selanjutnya, data penelitian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penilaian teknis berdasarkan nilai rataan pelaksanaan Good Dairy farming practices (GDFP) pada peternak di daerah Kabupaten Kediri dan Kota Batu termasuk dalam kategori yang baik yaitu pada rataan nilai 3,59 dan 3,81. Nilai penerapan GDFP tertinggi pada aspek pakan dan minum dan nilai penerapan terendah berada pada aspek sosial ekonomi di Kabupaten Kediri. Perlunya perbaikan teknis pemeliharaan dengan penerapan GDFP terutama dalam hal sosial ekonomi pada peternakan rakyat sapi perah di Kabupaten Kediri. Abstract

Domba Ekor Tipis (DET), Cross Texel, dan Dorper memiliki karakteristik dan daya adaptasi yang berbeda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbandingan karakteristik morfometrik dari tiga ras domba tersebut sebagai indikator untuk mengevaluasi kapasitas adaptasinya terhadap lingkungan tropis. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pengukuran langsung di lapangan, termasuk berat badan (BB), lingkar dada (LD), tinggi badan (TB), dan panjang badan (PB). Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis korelasi, analisis regresi, dan ANOVA satu arah. Hasil analisis antara ukuran tubuh (LD, TB, dan PB) dengan BB pada ketiga ras domba menunjukkan hubungan yang sangat signifikan (P < 0,01). Persamaan regresi yang diperoleh dari hasil analisis untuk ketiga ras domba adalah: Domba DET: Y = -47,66 + 0,48X₁ + 0,29X₂ + 0,40X₃ dengan koefisien korelasi r = 0,91. Domba Cross Texel: Y = -19,43 + 0,42X₁ + 0,25X₂ + 0,12X₃ dengan koefisien korelasi r = 0,68. Domba Dorper: Y = -79,32 + 1,01X₁ + 0,27X₂ + 0,44X₃ dengan koefisien korelasi r = 0,88. Berat badan pada ketiga ras domba menunjukkan perbedaan yang sangat signifikan (P < 0,01). Rata-rata berat badan domba DET, Cross Texel, dan Dorper masing-masing adalah 27,09 ± 5,73 kg, 35,58 ± 5,95 kg, dan 68,13 ± 6,34 kg. Ukuran tubuh (LD, TB, dan PB) pada ketiga ras domba juga menunjukkan perbedaan yang sangat signifikan (P < 0,01), dengan domba Dorper memiliki ukuran tubuh terbesar. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa ukuran tubuh (LD, TB, dan PB) memiliki hubungan yang sangat kuat dengan berat badan. Ukuran tubuh (LD, TB, dan PB) dan berat badan pada ketiga ras domba berbeda secara signifikan (P < 0,01), di mana domba Dorper betina memiliki ukuran dan berat badan yang lebih besar dibandingkan domba DET dan Cross Texel meskipun dipelihara dalam lingkungan yang sama.

Abstract

This study aimed to detect genetic diversity associated with litter size traits of the P21-activated kinases (PAK1) gene in Senduro and Boerawa goats using the PCR-RFLP method. The restriction enzyme used is MSP1 (C*CGG). A pair of primers used in this study, namely Forward ((5'-GCTCAGTGTTGTATTAGCAG-3') and Reverse (5'- CAAGATATAAAGCACAGCCG-3') product length 713 bp (access code ENSCHIG00000003071). The samples used in this study consisted of 80 samples of Senduro goats and 20 samples of Boerawa goats from UPT PT-HMT Singosari, Malang Regency. The results showed that the PAK1 exon 9 gene in Senduro goats and Boerawa goats UPT PT-HMT Singosari was uniform (monomorphic), it was because all samples had GG genotype and G allele frequency of 100%. In conclusion, the PAK1 exon 9 / MSP1 gene is monomorphic and does not associate with litter size in Senduro goats and Boerawa goats, so it cannot be used as a genetic marker.

Abstract

Kambing merupakan sumber daging dan susu di banyak negara berkembang, karena kemampuannya untuk bertahan hidup dan tumbuh di bawah lingkungan iklim yang keras dibandingkan ruminansia lainnya. Fenomena ini memudahkan beternak kambing tanpa fasilitas yang canggih dan kebutuhan nutrisinya dapat dipenuhi dari berbagai jenis pakan atau padang penggembalaan yang tersedia. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penambahan biji kurma dalam pakan konsentrat terhadap rata-rata pertambahan bobot badan harian dan status gizi kambing Peranakan Etawah. Dua puluh ekor kambing dipilih secara acak dan didistribusikan ke dalam empat perlakuan masing-masing 5 ekor kambing. Kambing diberi pakan hijauan 60% Pennisetum purpureum dan 40% pakan konsentrat yang mengandung 0; 7.5; 15 dan 22,5% tepung biji  kurma. Terdapat pengaruh yang nyata (P<0,05) terhadap rata-rata pertambahan bobot badan harian, pakan konsentrat yang mengandung 22,5% lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan pakan yang mengandung 7,5 dan 15% tepung biji kurma. Disimpulkan bahwa penambahan tepung biji kurma pada pakan konsentrat pada ransum kambing peranakan Etawah tidak menunjukkan efek yang merugikan status gizi, tetapi dapat meningkatkan kinerja pertumbuhan.
