Abstract

Tourism is one of the leading sectors that makes a major contribution to the Indonesian economy, including in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) area, Tosari District, Pasuruan Regency, East Java. Throughout 2022, the number of visitors to TNBTS is expected to increase rapidly, which will also lead to an increase in non-tax state income. However, the increase in the number of visitors not only has a positive influence but also has a negative impact, mainly related to environmental concerns. Some of the problems that arise include climate change, socio-cultural degradation, and damage to ecosystems. Sustainable tourism through Green Tourism is an important component for achieving balanced tourism, benefiting both the economy and the environment. Therefore, this research aims to develop a Green-Tourism model in TNBTS. The method used in this research is a mixed-methods approach, employing a SWOT analysis methodology. The research results indicate that local communities and stakeholders can implement a green tourism strategy based on local participation and incorporating local culture, which can increase employment opportunities to absorb labor from rural communities and mitigate the current trend of urbanization.

Abstract

Poverty remains one of the most persistent development challenges in Papua Province, which consistently records the highest poverty rate in Indonesia. Fiscal decentralization is expected to enhance regional autonomy and public service effectiveness through the distribution of government expenditure across priority sectors. This study aims to analyze the influence of fiscal decentralization on poverty levels in Papua Province by examining government expenditure in the infrastructure, education, health, and economic sectors. Using panel data from 29 districts and cities in Papua covering the period 2010–2021, the research employs a dynamic panel data regression approach using the Arellano–Bond GMM estimation model. The results indicate that education expenditure has a significant negative effect on poverty, with a coefficient of ?1.259, and economic expenditure also reduces poverty with a coefficient of ?0.497. In contrast, health expenditure shows a positive coefficient of 0.455, indicating that spending in this sector has not yet contributed to welfare improvement, while infrastructure expenditure records a positive coefficient of 0.492, demonstrating unexpected results and budget utilization inefficiencies. These findings suggest that policy strategies should prioritize education and economic strengthening, improve the effectiveness of health spending, and redesign infrastructure policies based on contextual regional needs to achieve equitable poverty reduction in Papua.

Abstract

The existence of water plays an important role in the lives of all living creatures. Water distribution on the earth’s surface is divided into sea water and fresh water. Rivers are an example of surface fresh water that provides a water source for life. Water quality plays a role in determining a river’s quality status and designation. The Widas River is a sub-watershed of Brantas located in Nganjuk Regency. Based on Government Regulation 61 of 2010, the Widas River is included in class II for the river category. The research was carried out to assess the water quality and quality status of the Widas River. The method used in descriptive-quantitative was obtained by applying the pollutant index method. Water quality data shows that the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) parameters exceed the established class II quality standards, namely 3 mg/L for the eiver category. Meanwhile, the Widas River’s quality status, with a value of 2,22 using class II quality standards and 1,28 using class III quality standards, is included in the lightly polluted category. Meanwhile, with a value of 0.75 using class IV quality standards, it is included in the river category with good content. Based on this, class III quality standards in Government Regulation Number 2 of 2021 are more appropriate for the Widas River, Nganjuk Regency. Keywords: Pollutant Index, Quality Status of River, Water Quality, Widas River

Abstract

Tulungagung Regency’s Locally Generated Revenue (PAD) remains concentrated in three main types of taxes, while levies contribute less than optimally. This study aims to analyze the potential and performance of regional taxes and levies as instruments of fiscal independence in Tulungagung Regency using overlay analysis. The analysis shows that several taxes with low contributions have experienced significant growth, indicating policy space for expanding the revenue base. This finding implies that the overlay analysis approach can guide the determination of more precise and contextual fiscal strategies, as well as contribute to the development of a regional fiscal evaluation framework and the design of an adaptive fiscal system in the era of fiscal decentralization.

Abstract

In developing MSMEs, the government, community, and educational institutions can provide support, especially in terms of providing branding training. Research shows that branding can increase the competitiveness of MSMEs, and factors such as product quality, price, and promotion influence it. Therefore, this activity aims to provide 'branding' assistance for Micro Food and Beverage Business Actors (MSMEs) in Grati District, Pasuruan Regency. This is done to support the increase in women's empowerment in managing MSMEs in the area by involving Fatayat NU Grati District as a partner. This community service activity began with identifying partner problems (Fatayat NU Grati District) by dividing them into groups accompanied by the FEB UB Community Service team. The community service results revealed that partners' primary issue was a lack of understanding about product branding procedures, which led to less attractive product labeling, limited word-of-mouth marketing, and limited funding.

Abstract

Waste is a critical problem that needs to be resolved immediately. Based on its source, the largest waste generation in Malang City comes from the domestic sector. So that there needs to be an effort to resolve this by involving the household sector. The purpose of this study was to calculate the level of waste reduction at the location of the climate village program (Proklim) in Community Association (RW) 07 Lesanpuro Village, Malang City. The research method used is the quantitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques through field measurements, observations, and interviews. Data analysis techniques using the calculation formula of waste generation waste composition, waste density, and waste reduction. Total waste reduction was calculated by mass balance analysis. The results showed that average amount of waste generation was 0.388 people/day (kg). The average density of waste is 152.38 kg/m3. The composition of waste is dominated by organic waste, which is 71.63%. The total reduction rate is 20.51% (organic waste is 16.03%, inorganic waste is 4.48%). This amount is not yet by the Jakstranas target of 30% by 2025, although the research location is included in the Proklim category so it is required to optimize waste management by the community.

Abstract

This study aims to measure systemic risk in conventional commercial banks in Indonesia with the Conditional Value at Risk (CoVaR) model developed by Adrian and Brunnermeier (2009). The financial crises of 1998 and 2008 have become valuable lessons for Indonesian banks to always maintain financial system stability because the impact caused by systemic risks is very large. Systemic risk is the possibility of instability due to contagion in some or all of the financial system. This study uses a sample of 6 conventional commercial banks in Indonesia from January 2012 to December 2018. The results obtained from this study is the systemic risk is not related to the size of banks. Each bank has a negative externality so that it can cause a bank rush and systemic impact.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of Non-Performing Loans (NPL), OER, and Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) on the profitability of Regional Development Banks (BPD) in Indonesia, as measured by Return on Assets (ROA). The data used are BPD annual financial reports obtained from each bank's official website. The research object covers 23 Regional Development Banks in Indonesia with an observation period of 2019-2023. The analytical method used is panel data regression analysis with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach, which was determined as the best model based on the results of the Chow and Hausman tests. The results show that partially NPL has a positive and significant effect on ROA, BOPO has a negative effect on ROA, while CAR does not show a significant effect on ROA. Simultaneously, these three independent variables are proven to affect BPD profitability. The findings of this study indicate that operational efficiency and credit risk management characteristics have a more dominant role in determining BPD profitability than capital adequacy factors. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for BPD management and policymakers in formulating more effective strategies to improve the profitability of regional banks.
