Abstract

The results of the international study on reading literacy show that Indonesian students' reading ability lags far behind other countries. Even nationally, the government measures students' reading literacy levels inadequately. The government initiated the School Literacy Movement (Gerakan Literasi Sekolah/GLS) to increase interest in reading in 2016. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of GLS in four elementary schools in Cisauk District, South Tangerang, during the pre-pandemic, pandemic, and post-pandemic covid-19 period. The participants of this study were 17 people, consisting of school principals, teachers, and librarians. This research is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of FGDs, interviews, and observation. Data analysis techniques include reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. This study found that the GLS applied in the four elementary schools is still at the habituation stage of 15 minutes of reading before studying, providing a reading corner, reading in the library, and displaying students' work in wall magazines and classrooms. During the pandemic, students have more opportunities to access readings on the internet to do assignments compared to the pre-pandemic period. In the post-pandemic era, literacy has not been fully revived. Due to a lack of understanding, school principals and teachers have not varied the practice of GLS and still need mentoring.

Abstract

Written communication in an educational setting aims to convey messages related to academics or finances. The messages delivered contain either positive or negative information. This study aims to reveal the organization of negative business messages preferred by higher education students while receiving messages from university parties. The participants are the vice-chancellors for finance and academic affairs or the representatives (heads of divisions) at three private universities within the Association of Catholic Higher Learning Institutions as the senders and 170 active students in several universities as the receivers. This study uses quantitative and qualitative descriptive approaches. I collected data through online questionnaires, semistructured interviews, and observation of written documents in email and WhatsApp. I proposed four essential dimensions of negative message, namely, organization/approach, language, medium, and response, with the Likert scale questionnaire. I also inserted two cases of negative messages at the end of the questionnaire to find students’ tendency to select one they liked. The questionnaire results are used to discover the participants’ preference for the approach of relaying negative messages, corroborated by the interviews. The study found that students preferred direct approach to negative business messages. Buffers, prevalent in negative business with indirect order, are found in the email. A positive tone was not found at the end of the message. The study concluded that negative messages should be conveyed in writing with direct organizations and positive language and addressed to students before being forwarded to their parents

Abstract

Tujuan pendidikan di SMK ialah menghasilkan lulusan yang bukan saja siap kerja, melainkan juga memiliki peluang berwirausaha. Kemauan untuk berwirausaha masih kurang pada lulusan SMK Assa’adatul Abadiyah di Kabupaten Bekasi, Jawa Barat. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah membangkitkan semangat berwirausaha melalui edukasi kewirausahaan dan pelatihan pemasaran digital, khususnya Tokopedia. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada 28 April dan 8 Juni 2024 kepada 30 siswa kelas X dan XI beserta guru. Metode kegiatan berupa tes (pre dan post), simulasi, sharing pengalaman, diskusi, dan praktik wirausaha. Hasil kegiatan ini memperlihatkan bahwa pengetahuan siswa mengenai wirausaha dan pemasaran digital masih perlu ditingkatkan. Dari praktik wirausaha, siswa telah memperhatikan daya tarik, kebersihan, dan rasa produk, tetapi masih kurang dalam penghitungan harga jual, penjualan melalui Tokopedia, dan daya tarik kemasan. Pihak sekolah perlu secara kontinu menyelenggarakan praktik wirausaha, seperti bazar atau market day, meneruskan melatih pemasaran dan penjualan secara digital, dan mengundang alumni yang sukses untuk memotivasi berwirausaha.

Abstract

Desa Borobudur merupakan salah satu kawasan wisata yang selalu ramai pengunjung. Dampak yang paling dirasakan dari kedatangan pengunjung ialah timbulan sampah. Sampah anorganik, seperti botol plastik, berpotensi untuk didaur ulang menjadi aneka produk bernilai ekonomis. Kaum perempuan di wilayah homestay belum memiliki keterampilan mendaur ulang botol sampah plastik (bostik). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis pemberdayaan perempuan dalam mendaur ulang botol sampah plastik di kawasan wisata. Tahapan kegiatan ini meliputi persiapan, pelatihan, penugasan, pendampingan, monitoring dan evaluasi. Subjek penelitian ini terdiri dari 21 perempuan. Hasil kegiatan ini memperlihatkan bahwa kaum peremuan di Dusun Ngaran II sudah mampu mengolah daur ulang botol plastik menjadi aneka produk, seperti bunga plastik, lampu hias, miniatur Candi Borobudur dan Gereja Ayam. Meskipun masih menunjukkan kekurangan, para perempuan termotivasi untuk berkarya lebih baik dan lebih bervariasi. Pada peserta berharap dapat berwirausaha untuk menambah penghasilan keluarga. Implikasi pengabdian yaitu kegiatan ini menunjukkan keberhasilan dalam menyadarkan kaum perempuan untuk peduli terhadap lingkungan dengan cara mengurangi sekaligus mendaur ulang limbah sampah botol plastik.

Abstract

Variasi media pembelajaran berupa video pembelajaran dilaporkan efektif meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap materi. Masalahnya, membuat video pembelajaran membutuhkan keahlian tersendiri yang belum dikuasai oleh guru-guru di Kecamatan Cisauk, Kabupaten Tangerang. Tujuan kegiatan ini ialah membantu guru-guru SDN yang tergabung dalam Kelompok Kerja Guru Gugus 10 Kecamatan Cisauk agar dapat membuat video pembelajaran menggunakan Canva free untuk mendukung pembelajaran. Jumlah peserta sebanyak 23 guru dari sembilan SDN di Kecamatan Cisauk. Metode kegiatan berupa pelatihan, pendampingan, penugasan, monitoring dan evaluasi. Pelatihan diselenggarakan secara luring selama dua kali pertemuan, sedangkan pendampingan secara daring dalam dua kali pertemuan. Dari hasil pretest dan postest diketahui ada peningkatan pengetahuan guru terhadap teknik pembuatan video dan penggunaan Canva. Hasil evaluasi terhadap video yang dihasilkan guru menunjukkan bahwa guru sudah dapat membuat video secara kreatif dengan memanfaatkan fitur-fitur di dalam Canva. Selain disampaikan dengan bahasa sederhana, video pembelajaran dilengkapi dengan soal dan latihan yang siap dibagikan kepada siswa.

Abstract

Oral presentation methods utilizing presentation slides are prevalent learning activities in higher education. The workplace also frequently employs presentations to report project outcomes, disseminate new regulations, or convey ideas. This research aims to (a) investigate the evaluation of presentation slide design and text by lecturers and peers; (b) determine the perceived importance of oral presentations and the use of presentation slides in the workplace. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods. Data collection involved questionnaires distributed to 222 active students in the 2023-2024 even-semester. Additionally, data were gathered through interviews with two students and four private company leaders in Jakarta and Bekasi, West Java. The results indicate that peer evaluations of presentation design are higher than those of lecturers. Peers assigned lower scores to visual aspects, while lecturers focused on text size. This research does not fully align with communication theory, emphasizing the 7-line pattern with seven words per line on a single presentation slide. Oral presentations in the workplace are considered crucial for career advancement. However, practical shortcomings persist, including poorly structured presentation slides, presenters' insufficient attention to the audience, presentation content lacking supporting data and facts, and presenters resorting to verbatim reading.

Abstract

Many researchers report that learning videos in elementary schools effectively improve student motivation and learning outcomes. Similarly, previous results have shown that using Canva to create learning videos is easy and exciting for students and teachers. However, some teachers at SDN Pantai Bahagia 04 in Muaragembong sub-district, Bekasi district, West Java, are not proficient in using Canva. This community service aims to increase teachers' knowledge and skills in creating Canva-based learning videos with a touch of videography technology. This activity was held online and offline from July to October 2024. The participants of this activity are eight teachers. The stages of the activity include preparation, implementation, assistance, monitoring, and evaluation. Before and after the training, teachers were given questionnaires. After the training, teachers' knowledge increased by 48%. In addition to the increase in knowledge, teachers also improved their ability to use Canva. Teachers have shown their creativity in making learning videos. However, some parts still need to be revised, such as the choice of color combinations as background, font size, concise and concise titles, and use of video, animation, and audio to refresh the learning atmosphere. This activity continues to the next monitoring and evaluation stage to see the progress of using Canva and using video recordings of teachers' own work inserted in Canva presentation materials.  ABSTRAK Banyak peneliti dan pengabdi melaporkan bahwa video pembelajaran di sekolah dasar efektif meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar siswa. Begitu pula, hasil terdahulu memperlihatkan penggunaan aplikasi Canva dalam membuat video pembelajaran sangat mudah dan menarik bagi siswa dan guru. Meskipun demikian, masih ada guru-guru di SDN Pantai Bahagia 04 Kecamatan Muaragembong, Kabupaten Bekasi, Jawa Barat, yang belum mahir menggunakan Canva. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru-guru dalam membuat video pembelajaran berbasis Canva dengan sentuhan teknologi videografi. Kegiatan ini diselenggarakan pada Juli sampai dengan Oktober 2024, baik secara daring maupun luring. Peserta kegiatan ini adalah delapan guru. Tahapan kegiatan meliputi persiapan, pelaksanaan, pendampingan, monitoring dan evaluasi. Sebelum dan setelah pelatihan, guru-guru dibagikan g-form. Setelah diberikan pelatihan, pengetahuan guru meningkat 48%. Selain peningkatan pengetahuan, guru juga menunjukkan peningkatan dalam kemampuan menggunakan Canva. Guru telah menunjukkan kreativitas masing-masing dalam pembuatan video pembelajaran meskipun masih ada bagian yang perlu direvisi, seperti pilihan kombinasi warna sebagai latar belakang, besar huruf, judul yang ringkas dan padat, penggunaan video, animasi, dan audio untuk menyegarkan suasana belajar. Kegiatan ini masih berlanjut ke tahap monitoring dan evaluasi berikutnya untuk melihat kemajuan penggunaan Canva dan penggunaan rekaman video hasil karya guru sendiri yang disisipkan dalam materi presentasi Canva.

Abstract

Abstrak Perpustakaan mempunyai peran penting dalam menumbuhkembangkan minat untuk membaca dan meningkatkan literasi informasi. Idealnya setiap sekolah mempunyai fasilitas perpustakaan yang dapat dimanfaatkan oleh siswa sebagai sumber belajar dan mencari informasi. Namun kenyataannya hingga saat ini masih ada sekolah yang belum memiliki perpustakaan dan salah satunya adalah SDN Pantai Bahagia 04 di Desa Muaragembong Bekasi. Tujuan dari program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah menginisiasi ketersediaan fasilitas perpustakaan sekolah dan memberikan pelatihan serta pendampingan bagi para guru di sekolah tentang bagaimana mengelola perpustakaan dengan optimal melalui penerapan manajemen perpustakaan dan manajemen perpustakaan digital berbasis SLiMS. Program manajemen perpustakaan ini dilaksanakan selama bulan Juli hingga September 2024 dan diikuti oleh delapan orang peserta yang merupakan guru di SDN Pantai Bahagia 04 yang ditugaskan untuk mengelola perpustakaan. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelaksanaan program pengabdian ini yaitu pelatihan dan pendampingan. Hasil tes yang dilakukan tim menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan pengetahuan tentang manajemen perpustakaan dan manajemen perpustakaan digital berbasis SLiMS antara sebelum dan sesudah peserta diberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan. Pada pelatihan manajemen perpustakaan terdapat peningkatan sebesar 128,57 persen (skor 35 untuk pretes menjadi 80 untuk postes), sedangkan pada pelatihan manajemen perpustakaan digital berbasis SliMS terdapat peningkatan sebesar 2,60 persen (skor 81,20 untuk pretes menjadi 83,31 untuk postes). Hasil monitoring dan evaluasi juga menunjukkan bahwa peserta menilai program manajemen perpustakaan ini memberikan banyak manfaat dan dampak positif yang signifikan bagi sekolah. Dengan adanya pelatihan dan pendampingan ini, para guru merasa sangat terbantu dan memiliki kemampuan untuk mengelola perpustakaan dengan lebih baik agar dapat terus berlanjut di masa mendatang. Kata kunci: manajemen perpustakaan; manajemen perpustakaan digital berbasis SLiMS; perpustakaan sekolah; sekolah dasar. AbstractLibraries have an important role in developing interest in reading and increasing information literacy. Ideally, every school has library facilities that students can use as a source of learning and seeking information. However, the reality is that currently there are still schools that do not have libraries and one of them is SDN Pantai Bahagia 04 in Muaragembong Village, Bekasi. The aim of this community service program is to initiate the availability of school library facilities and provide training and assistance for teachers in schools on how to manage libraries optimally through the implementation of library management and digital library management based on SLiMS. This library management program was implemented from July to September 2024 and was attended by eight participants who were teachers at SDN Pantai Bahagia 04 who were assigned to manage the library. The methods used in implementing this service program are training and mentoring. The results of the test conducted by the team indicated that there was an improvement in knowledge about library management and SLiMS-based digital library management between the pre-test and post-test after the participants were provided with training and mentoring. In the library management training, there was an increase of 128.57 percent (a score of 35 in the pre-test to 80 in the post-test), while in the SLiMS-based digital library management training, the improvement was 2.60 percent (a score of 81.20 in the pre-test to 83.31 in the post-test). The monitoring and evaluation results also show that participants assess that this library management program provides many benefits and has a significant positive impact on schools. With this training and assistance, the teachers feel very helped and have the ability to manage the library better so that it can continue in the future. Keywords: library management; SLiMS -based digital library management; school library; elementary school.

Abstract

Betawi souvenir MSME actors in the Betawi Cultural Village, Setu Babakan, South Jakarta, are still conventionally marketing and selling their products. This activity aims to introduce Tokopedia and TikTok Shop digital marketing to Betawi ondel-ondel souvenir MSME actors to increase their knowledge and skills in marketing and to sell their products to a broader audience. The activity method is training with stages of preparation, implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. The training was held for two days, namely May 29 and June 5, 2024. The participants of the MSME actors were two men. Both have shown increased knowledge and skills in digital marketing through Tokopedia and TikTok Shop. However, due to its unique and limited products, conventional sales have a better impact than through TikTok Shop and Tokopedia until the evaluation period. These MSME actors prefer to use Tokopedia and TikTok Shop to display products in their account storefronts rather than having to live stream on TikTok Shop so that many people visit their accounts. The weakness of speaking in public through digital devices to potential buyers is the weakness of these MSMEs.

Abstract

Abstract: Sanggar Seni Citra Argawana is one of the Ondel-Ondel Souvenir craftsmen in the Setu Babakan-Jagakarsa area, South Jakarta since 1995, which is the target of this community service activity. The problem faced by the target of the service is their difficulty in designing attractive packaging for the Ondel-Ondel Souvenir products that they offer to their consumers. The packaging problem is a problem that is often experienced by small and medium entrepreneurs in almost all cities in Indonesia. The appearance of the packaging needs to have an appeal to be touched, and then purchased. Unattractive packaging will result in consumers not being moved to touch, let alone buy. Therefore, this community service aims to help Sanggar Seni Citra Argawana UMKM in redesigning the packaging of Ondel-Ondel Souvenir products that have been used so far to become packaging that has more visual appeal but remains functional, which can help increase consumer purchasing interest. The method used in this service is a practical workshop in creating new packaging designs for craftsmen at Sanggar Seni Citra Argawana UMKM. The results obtained were that the craftsmen at the UMKM Sanggar Seni Citra Argawana succeeded in creating a new packaging design for their Ondel-Ondel souvenir products which had more visual appeal and were functional for their consumers.Abstrak: Sanggar Seni Citra Argawana adalah salah satu UMKM perajin Suvenir Ondel-Ondel di wilayah Setu Babakan-Jagakarsa, Jakarta Selatan sejak tahun 1995, yang menjadi target aktivitas pengabdian masyarakat ini. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh target pengabdian adalah kesulitan mereka mendesain kemasan yang menarik untuk produk Suvenir Ondel-Ondel yang mereka tawarkan kepada para konsumennya. Masalah kemasan merupakan masalah yang banyak dialami oleh pengusaha kecil dan menengah di hampir semua kota di Indonesia. Tampilan kemasan perlu memiliki daya tarik untuk disentuh, lalu kemudian dibeli. Kemasan yang kurang menarik akan berakibat konsumen tidak tergerak untuk menyentuh apalagi membeli. Oleh karena itu, pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membantu UMKM Sanggar Seni Citra Argawana dalam mendesain ulang (Redesain) kemasan produk Suvenir Ondel-Ondel yang selama ini telah digunakan agar menjadi kemasan yang lebih memiliki daya tarik visual namun tetap fungsional, yang dapat membantu meningkatkan minat beli dari konsumen. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah workshop praktis dalam membuat desain kemasan yang baru bagi para perajin di UMKM Sanggar Seni Citra Argawana. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah para perajin di UMKM Sanggar Seni Citra Argawana berhasil membuat desain kemasan baru untuk produk Suvenir Ondel-Ondelnya yang lebih memiliki daya tarik visual serta fungsional bagi para konsumennya.
