Abstract

The development pattern of sugarcane on the island of Java has shifted to dry land because rice fields are prioritized for other food crops. Dryland generally has low to moderate fertility rates and water availability is a limiting factor. Silicate (Si) is a beneficial nutrient for sugarcane and is absorbed in greater quantities than other nutrients. Si also can avoid damage to plants against abiotic stress such as drought. This study aims to test several new high-yielding sugarcane varieties under drought conditions and their responses to Si fertilization. The design used was three-factor RAK, namely the concentration of nano-silica fertilizer (0%; 30%; 45%), watering intensity (regular watering; no watering from 45 DAS), and new high yielding sugarcane varieties (BL; NX 01; NX 02; NX 03; VMC 86-550). The observation variables included stover fresh weight, root fresh weight, root length, and stover dry weight. The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA at a 95% confidence level. If it is significantly different, continue with the 5% LSD test. Based on the results of this study, it was shown that the new superior sugarcane variety, namely VMC 86-550, was drought tolerant, indicated by the best average growth in almost all observed parameters. The concentration of nano-silica fertilizer 45% for 2 times the application showed the best growth of sugarcane. The treatment interaction between drought and variety had a significant effect on the wet weight of stover and root length of sugarcane. Treatment of nano-silica had a significant effect on the dry weight of sugarcane stover.

Abstract

The suitability of typical rice varieties in Tegalampel Sub-District, Bondowoso District. The need for rice is increasing every year. Rice production is inseparable from paddy production in the field. Paddy production on the field will be optimal if the variety matches the soil and land characteristics. This research is an exploratory study to evaluate the suitability of the typical location of paddy varieties in Tegalampel Sub-District, Bondowoso District. The research was conducted in August-December 2020 in Tegalampel District, Jember Regency, and soil analysis at the Soil Fertility Laboratory of the University of Jember. The research method uses a survey method which is divided into 3 stages: literature study, field survey, and data analysis. The results showed Tegalampel Sub-District has the potential to be planted with paddy divided into 3 land uses with a height of <700 m asl with rainfall <2000 mm / year, namely irrigated rice fields, rain-fed rice fields, and dry fields / dry land. Suitability of rice varieties for irrigated rice fields namely Ciherang, Inpari 1, Inpari 6 Jete, Mekongga by 16.60%; suitability of rice varieties for rain-fed rice fields are varieties Inpari 10, Inpari 12, Inpari 13, Inpari 18, Inpari 19, Inpari 20, Inpari 38, Inpari 39, Inpari 40, Inpari 41, Dodokan, Silugonggo by 26.64%; and suitability of rice varieties for dry fields / dry land, namely Inpago 5, Inpago 8, Inpago 9, Inpago 10, Inpago 11, Inpago 12 by 26.35%.

Abstract

Abstrak: Kecamatan Silo merupakan penghasil jahe terbesar di Kabupaten Jember. Pembuatan produk olahan herbal berpotensi dikembangkan sejalan dengan berkembangnya kesadaran hidup sehat. Animo masyarakat terhadap produk olahan herbal dapat ditingkatkan dengan adanya variasi produk dari berbagai komoditi herbal. Permasalahan dalam pengembangan produk herbal di Desa Pace, Silo, Jember antara lain pengetahuan yang terbatas dalam mengolah herbal sesuai standar dan perlunya menambah variasi produk. Kemampuan ibu-ibu anggota KWT Srikandi dalam melakukan manajemen pemasaran juga perlu ditingkatkan. Pelatihan pengolahan herbal bertujuan agar anggota KWT dapat memproduksi olahan herbal terstandar dan meningkatkan omzet penjualan. Kegiatan pelatihan dilakukan dengan cara sosialisasi dan praktek. Mitra yang terlibat pada kegiatan ini yaitu anggota KWT Srikandi sebanyak 25 orang. Evaluasi dilakukan dengan cara memantau secara berkala kualitas produk dan hasil penjualan secara offline maupun online. Hasil dari pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan dalam pembuatan produk olahan sebesar 28,6%, peningkatan keterampilan dalam menajemen pemasaran sebesar 37,6%, dan peningkatan omzet penjualan sirup herbal sebasar 875.000/ bulan. Abstract: Silo District is the largest producer of ginger in Jember Regency. Herbal products has the potential to be developed in line with the development of awareness of healthy living. The public's interest in herbal products can be increased by the variety of products from various herbal commodities. Problems in the development herbal products in Pace Village, Silo, Jember include limited knowledge in processing herbs according to standards and increasing product variety. The ability of the members of KWT Srikandi in marketing management also needs to be improved. This training aims to enable KWT members to produce standardized herbal and increase sales revenue. Training activities are carried out by means of socialization and practice. Partners involved were 25 members. Monitoring is carried out periodically on product quality and sales results both offline and online. The results showed an increase in product processing skills by 28.6%, marketing management by 37.6%, and sales revenue of herbal syrup by 875,000/month.

Abstract

ABSTRAKKecamatan Silo merupakan penghasil jahe terbesar di Kabupaten Jember pada Tahun 2017. Anggota Gapoktan di Desa Pace pernah sukses memproduksi kunyit hingga 10 ton. Cabe jawa telah dibudidayakan seluas 10 ha. Temulawak dan kencur juga dibudidayakan pada luasan yang lebih rendah. Hal tersebut menunjukkan Desa Pace berpotensi untuk dikembangkan sebagai sentra herbal di Kabupaten Jember. Di Desa Pace terdapat Gabungan Kelompok Tani (Gapoktan) Suka Maju yang beranggotan 9 kelompok tani dan satu kelompok wanita tani yang hingga kini aktif mendukung berkembangnya pertanian setempat melalui budidaya kopi dan berbagai komoditi herbal. Permasalahan dalam pengembangan dan produksi herbal di Desa Pace antara lain masih terbatasnya petani yang membudidayakan herbal sesuai GAP, sehingga tanaman herbal masih sebagai komoditi sampingan. Kegiatan diawali dari survei lahan dan pembangunan Rumah Pembibitan, dilanjutkan sosialisasi dan pendampingan budidaya aneka herbal sesuai GAP, yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kuantitas dan kualitas produksi agar produk yang dihasilkan terstandar. Peserta berjumlah 25 orang perwakilan dari tiap kelompok tani dan mendapatkan buku saku berisi SOP budidaya herbal, 2 paket polibag, dan bibit aneka tanaman herbal. Hasil kegiatan ini ialah anggota gapoktan memahami cara membudidayakan aneka tanaman herbal sesuai GAP dan dari hasil evaluasi 80% anggota gapoktan telah mempraktekkan di pekarangan rumah masing-masing. Kata kunci: pembibitan; tanaman herbal; desa pace; sentra herbal. ABSTRACTSilo District is the largest ginger producer in Jember Regency on 2017. This shows that Pace Village has the potential to be developed as an herbal center in Jember Regency. In Pace Village, there is the Association of Farmer Groups (Gapoktan) Suka Maju that has been actively supporting the development of local agriculture through the cultivation of coffee and various herbal commodities. Problems in the development and production of herbs in Pace Village include the limited number of farmers who cultivate herbs and comply with GAP, so that herbal plants are still a side commodity. The activity begins with a land survey and the construction of a nursery, continued with socialization and assistance for herbal cultivation according to GAP, which aims to increase the quantity and quality of production so that the products produced are standardized. Participants from each farmer group received a pocket book containing SOP for herbal cultivation, 2 polybag packages, and seeds of various herbal plants. The results of this activity is that Gapoktan members understand how to cultivate various herbal plants according to GAP and from the evaluation results of 80% Gapoktan members have practiced them in their respective yards. Keywords: nurseries; herbal plants; pace village; herbal center.

Abstract

ABSTRAKLahan pertanian mengalami penurunan kesuburan tanah dengan indikasi nilai C-Organik < 1% sangat luas, termasuk di Desa Sekarputih Kabupaten Bondowoso. Masyarakat Desa Sekarputih sebagian besar bermata pencaharian sebagai petani dan peternak. Survei awal menunjukkan bahwa kotoran sapi yang dihasilkan oleh ternak belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Banyak kotoran sapi yang dibiarkan begitu saja sehingga menimbulkan masalah lingkungan seperti bau yang menyengat. Tujuan dari program pengabdian ini adalah sosialisasi dan pelatihan pembuatan pupuk organik yang berasal dari kotoran sapi sebagai alternatif untuk meningkatkan bahan organik tanah dan mengurangi permasalahan lingkungan. hasil kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa peserta sangat aktif dan antusias dalam bertanya dan menjawab pertanyaan dalam kegiatan sosialisasi, dan antusias aktif dalam praktek langsung pada tahap pelatihan. Kata kunci: pelatihan; pupuk organic; kotoran sapi; ternak. ABSTRACTAgricultural land experienced degradation of soil fertility with indicated C-Organic value < 1% very widely, including in Sekarputih Village, Bondowoso Regency. The people of Sekarputih village mostly make a living as farmers and ranchers. The initial survey shows that cow dung produced by livestock has not been utilized optimally. A lot of cow dung is left alone which causes environmental problems such as a strong odor. The purpose of this service program is socialization and training on the manufacture of organic fertilizer derived from cow dung as an alternative to increasing soil organic matter and reducing environmental problems. the results of the service activities showed that the participants were very active and enthusiastic about asking and answering questions in socialization activities, and enthusiastically active in direct practice at the training stage. Keywords: training; organic fertilizer; cow manure; livestock.

Abstract

Tebu merupakan akumulator silika yang berarti memerlukan banyak asupan silika. Pupuk silika (Si) dapat berasal dari berbagai sumber dan terobosan teknologi saat ini tersedianya Si dalam bentuk nano. Beberapa varietas tebu unggul baru belum diuji pada lahan marginal. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian nano silika terhadap pertumbuhan fase bibit beberapa varietas unggul baru pada tanah entisol. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Faktorial dengan 2 faktor. Faktor pertama aplikasi nano Si (S) terdiri atas aplikasi nano Si 0% (S1) dan aplikasi nano Si 30% (S2). Faktor kedua varietas unggul baru terdiri atas Bululawang (V1), NX-01 (V2), NX-02 (V3), dan VMC 86-550 (V4). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian nano Si tidak berpengaruh nyata pada pertumbuhan tebu fase pembibitan, sedangkan varietas dan interaksi nano Si x V berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan tebu. Varietas VMC 86-550 menunjukkan rata-rata pertumbuhan yang lebih baik pada seluruh variabel pengamatan.

Abstract

The use of high inorganic fertilizers in conventional agriculture can affect soil fertility. Efforts to improve land fertility in order to increase land productivity and at the same time increase farmers' income require integrated and sustainable agricultural business development technology. Biochar applied to paddy fields is able to increase organic carbon which can provide nutrients for organisms in the soil that will provide nutrients for plants. Sengon waste in Slateng Village is abundant and has not been utilized, while most of the livelihoods of the Slateng Village residents are farmers. This activity aims to provide training to members of the Harapan Farmers Group and the local Mosque Youth to be able to process sengon waste into biochar. This activity is carried out in several stages, namely socialization and practice. The result of this activity is that participants gain knowledge about processing sengon waste and produce biochar fertilizer that is ready to be applied.

Abstract

Silo District is the largest ginger producing area in Jember which has great potential to be developed as an agricultural center. Several farmers in Pace Village have developed medicinal plants other than coffee plants. One of the strategies for developing medicinal plants is the preparation of appropriate cultivation technology. Efforts to realize Pace Village to become a Medicinal herbs Center Village need to be continuously supported and assisted in order to increase the quantity and quality of production. This community service activity was carried out as a follow-up to mentoring in Year 1. The activity in this second year aims to provide extensive assistance in the cultivation of medicinal plants by increasing the unit area for planting and improving cultivation production inputs to optimize and develop medicinal plant cultivation in Pace Village. The expansion of the planting area was carried out on land belonging to the village and in several yards of Gapoktan members. Improvement of production inputs through the construction of a nursery managed by the Taman Rizki Farmers Group, the addition of types of medicinal plants, and agricultural tools to support the success of medicinal herbs cultivation towards Pace Village as a Medicinal Herbs Center in Jember Regency.

Abstract

Manajemen budidaya yang tepat dan ketersediaan pakan berkualitas secara mandiri diharapkan mampu meningkatkan reproduksi dalam hal bibit ternak, produktivitas ternak dengan hasil yang sesuai harapan. Kelompok ternak desa Klabang, Kecamatan Tegalampel, Kabupaten Bondowoso dalam manajemen budidaya memiliki beberapak kendala diantaranya keterbatasan pengetahuan dalam manajemen budidaya ternak yang baik dan pengolahan pupuk organik dari limbah ternak. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu peningkatan kemampuan dan keterampilan peternak dalam mengusahakan ternak sapi potong dan mampu mengolah limbah ternak. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan melalui sosialisasi, pendampingan, dan percontohan terstruktur dalam melakukan manajemen budidaya ternak dan pengolahan limbah. Hasil kegiatan menujukkan bahwa para peternak berpartisipasi aktif dalam kegiatan dan dapat melanjutkankegiatan budidaya ternak serta mengolah limbah ternak secara mandiri. Manajemen pemeliharaan ternak yang baik akan menghasilkan produktivitas ternak yang meningkat. Kegiatan pendampingan secara keberlanjutan akan dapat meningkatkan kemandirian peternak sebagai penghasil bibit sapi potong lokal yang unggul.

Abstract

Introduction: Shallots are a horticultural product needed by the Indonesian people, the production of shallots has decreased by 16.54%. The decline in production in 2018 was caused by extreme weather in the first quarter which resulted in a significant decrease in production. The purpose of the study was to determine the interaction between the use of varieties and the administration of ZPT at various concentrations on the growth and development of shallot plants. Methods: The experimental design used a randomized block design (RBD) with 2 factors, namely, the onion variety factor (V1: Bauji variety and V2: Blue Lancor variety) and the concentration of PGR (BAP and GA3) consisting of Z0: control (without PGR), Z1: BAP 50 ppm, Z2: GA3 150 ppm, Z3: BAP 50 ppm + GA3 150 ppm. Results: The results showed that the use of various varieties and concentrations of PGR did not affect the vegetative growth of Shallots. The use of various varieties has a significantly different effect on the generative development of shallot plants. The use of ZPT concentrations did not affect the generative development of plants. Two varieties, namely Bauji and Biru Lancor, were unable to influence the growth and development of shallots in the vegetative and generative phases because of the genetic characteristics of the plants whose function was to characterize each variety. Apart from genetic factors, this is thought to be caused by the degree of suitability of the variety to its environment. Conclusion: The Bauji variety is more suitable to be planted in the lowlands of Antirogo than the Blue Lancor variety.
