Abstract

Ampelan Village, which is in Wringin District, Bondowoso Regency, has a large number of residents, including elderly residents, adults and children. One of the problems in Ampelan Village is the lack of children's understanding of the world of technology. In fact, understanding it is currently very necessary, especially for children who are currently studying as a preparation for facing future challenges. One of the programs carried out in Ampelan Village is basic IT training for children which aims to equip the younger generation with digital skills so they can keep up with developments that are closely related to digitalization in education. This program is designed to provide a basic understanding of the use of computers, the internet and platforms to support their school work. The activity was attended by 31 children, who were very enthusiastic during the activity. The result of this activity was an increase in participants' understanding of the basics of navigation on laptops, typing, and the use of Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint. The hope is that this program can help access the introduction of technology education in rural areas to reduce the digital divide.

Abstract

Panti and Sumberjambe Districs are known as durian centre in Jember Regency, it is necessary to characterise the main potential superior durian trees. The exploratory investigation was carried out between April - July 2023. Morphological characterisation and Ecological observations including topography, soil type and climate were carried out. Data were analysed in clusters and descriptively. The results showed that 10 local durian accessions from Panti District had 66% similarity. The highest similarity between Montong Belanda and Gendon durians (75%). Ten local durians from Sumberjambe showed 64% similarity. Si Sukun differed significantly, whereas LK 1 and LK 4 shared 85% similarity.

Abstract

The productivity of sugarcane is decreasing and there are more and more varieties in circulation. The decrease in productivity is caused by the incompatibility of each variety of land typology. The purpose of this research is to arrange the right varieties in increasing the productivity of sugarcane. The research method is surveying and matching. Parameters used include soil texture, land type conditions, soil drainage conditions, and rainfall. Based on the research results, the total working area of 11,866.81 ha was divided into 4 land typologies, namely BHJ with an area of 2,910.95 hectares (24.53%), BPJ with an area of 2,047.44 hectares (17.25%), RHL an area of 471.12 hectares (3.97%), RPL area of 1,527.01 hectares (12.87%). Abstract

The MSME empowerment program in Tegalwaru Village, Jember Regency, aims to address the issue of cassava peel waste generated from tape production. Improperly managed cassava peel waste causes environmental pollution and potential health problems. Through this program, innovations were made to process cassava peel waste into solid and liquid organic fertilizers using bioreactors. The program involved training, material provision, and mentoring for MSME tape producers in the village. As a result, the use of organic fertilizer from cassava peel waste successfully reduced pollution and increased agricultural productivity. In addition to having a positive environmental impact, the program also created new economic opportunities and supported the concept of sustainable business in the village. The program’s sustainability is maintained through regular monitoring, both directly and via digital media.

Abstract

Desa Pecoro, Jember, memiliki luas area persawahan yang didominasi tanaman padi dan palawija. Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra Kelompok Tani Karya Tani ialah serangan hama burung, terutama burung pipit, yang dapat mengakibatkan penurunan hasil panen padi hingga 30-50%. Teknik pengusiran hama secara konvensional, seperti penggunaan orang-orangan sawah dan jaring, dinilai kurang efektif karena memerlukan pengawasan intensif petani. Program mahasiswa berdesa ini bertujuan untuk mensosialiasikan penerapan teknologi Internet of Things (IoT) dalam bentuk alat pengusir burung otomatis sebagai upaya mengurangi kehilangan hasil pada budidaya padi. Alat ini dirancang menghasilkan suara frekuensi 1,48-2,6 KHz yang efektif mengusir burung pipit. Program ini dilaksanakan melalui tahapan sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan pendampingan teknis kepada para petani, meliputi cara kerja, penggunaan, dan pemeliharaan alat. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi, alat ini mampu mengatasi hama burung hingga 80%, dan petani menunjukkan minat untuk mengadopsi teknologi ini sebagai solusi praktis yang lebih hemat tenaga.

Abstract

Kebutuhan beras nasional tahun 2021 sebesar111,58 kilogran per kapita per tahun. Luas lahan pertanian produktif di Jawa Timur berkurang tiap tahun karena alih fungsi lahan. Program intensifikasi pengelolaan lahan sub optimal diperlukan sehingga produktifitas padi mampu memenuhi kebutuhan beras nasional. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah penerapan teknologi penataan pola tanam padi sawah berdasarkan karakteristik iklim di lahan sub optimal DAS Sampian lereng Gunung Ijen. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode diskripsi eksploratif yang terbagi atas tiga tahap yaitu pra survai, survai, dan pasca survai. Bahan dan alat yang digunakan meliputi data curah hujan 11 tahun terakhir, suhu udara; kelembaban udara; tekanan udara; kecepatan angin; peta administrasi; peta penggunaan lahan; peta jenis tanah; peta topografi, GPS, sorfware Arc-GIS, alat survai lapang, varietas padi. Penentuan tipe iklim Oldeman didasarkan pada jumlah bulan basah dan bulan kering. Pola tanam tanaman padi ditentukan melalui ketersediaan air tanah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa lahan sub optimal DAS Sampian Lereng Gunung Ijenterbagi atas tiga tipe iklim Oldeman dengan presentase iklim C3 dengan bulan basah 5-6 bulan sebesar 73,62%; iklim D3 luasan sebesar 20,35%; iklim E menempati porsi luasan sebesar 6,02%. Pola tanam padi di DAS Sampian kaki Gunung Ijen berdasarkan karakteristik iklim dapat dilakukan penanaman padi tiga kali dalam setahun mulai bulan Desember - Maret, Maret - Juni, Juni-September.

Abstract

Indonesia has targeted achieving national sugar self-sufficiency in 2035 through intensification and extensification. Marginal land, including in geological formation areas originating from marine-volcanic influences, is considered for utilization. Efforts to increase the productivity of sugarcane cultivation land on marginal land require an evaluation of the suitability of varieties and fertilizer inputs. The study aimed to characterize and manage land in the marine-volcanic area of ??Mount Semeru for sugarcane cultivation. The method used to answer the challenges of marginal land for sugarcane cultivation was divided into stages: environmental identification, climate identification, soil characteristic identification, resistant typology evaluation, sugarcane maturity type evaluation, variety suitability identification, and fertilizer dosage. The results of the study showed that marine-volcanic land can be utilized for sugarcane cultivation to produce high productivity above 80 t/ha by placing location-specific varieties and appropriate fertilizer management. Environmental and soil characteristics include rainfall of >2,000 mm/year and flat-sloping land topography dominated by an average sand texture fraction of > 30%. The appropriate varieties are Kidang Kencana, Bululawang/, NXI 4T, VMC 76-16, VMC 86-550, and NX03. The type of maturity of sugarcane varieties at the research location partly changed, such as the NX03 and VMC 76-16 varieties, which were originally middle-late ripe and changed to early-middle, which affected the fertilizer given at each location and the influence of clay percentage. The amount of fertilizer in the research area on average for plantcane was 151.75 kg/ha, 62 kg/haP2O5, and 103.5 kg/haK2O, and for ratoon 227.63 kg/ha, 38 kg/haP2O5, and 146.5 kg/haK2O.

Abstract

AbstrakMasyarakat Desa Slateng Kecamatan Ledokombo Kabupaten Jember lereng Gunung Raung berada di landform vulkanik mayoritas bermata pencaharian dalam bidang pertanian. Komoditas pertanian yang dikembangkan yaitu tanaman pangan, tanaman hortikultura, dan perkebunan. Kendala yang dihadapi yang mengancam dalam proses pertanian masyarakat rendahnya kadar nitrogen dalam tanah (< 1%) sehingga mengakibatkan daun tanaman menguning dan dapat menurunkan hasil produktivitas tanaman 50% dari potensi yang seharusnya. Permasalahan tersebut penting untuk diselesaikan sehingga produktifitas sesuai yang diharapkan. Tujuan kegiatan penerapan teknologi pupuk organik cair nitrobacter dari alam sebagai upaya peningkatan produktifitas tanah lahan vulkanik lereng gunung raung. Metode penyelesaian masalah melalui sosialisasi, pelatihan dan praktek langsung pemanfaatan bahan alam melalui peran aktif peserta dalam pembuatan nitrobakter. Kegiatan program pengabdian dihadiri 25 peserta oleh kelompok tani harapan pengurus kelompok tani, sekretaris desa, dan petugas penyuluh dari dinas pertanian dan hortikultura kabupaten Jember. Hasil kegiatan meningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta 50 % yang sebelumnya pemahaman terkait dengan Nitrobakter hanya 40% menjadi 80%. Kata kunci: degradasi lahan, nitrogen; kesuburan tanah; pupuk hayati cair Abstract The people of Slateng Village, Ledokombo District, Jember Regency, on the slopes of Mount Raung, located on volcanic landforms, the majority make their living in agriculture. The agricultural commodities developed are food crops, horticultural crops, and plantations. The obstacles faced that threaten the community's agricultural process are low levels of nitrogen in the soil (< 1%) which cause plant leaves to turn yellow and can reduce plant productivity results by 50% of their potential. It is important to solve these problems so that productivity is as expected. The aim of the activity is to apply nitrobacter liquid organic fertilizer technology from nature as an effort to increase soil productivity on the volcanic slopes of Mount Raung. Problem-solving methods through socialization, training, and direct practice in the use of natural materials through the active role of participants in making nitrobacteria. The service program activities were attended by 25 participants from the farmer group Hope, farmer group administrators, village secretaries, and extension officers from the Jember district agriculture and horticulture service. The results of the activity increased participants' knowledge and skills by 50%, from previously only 40% understanding regarding Nitrobacteria to 80%. Keywords: land degradation; nitrogen; soil fertility; liquid biofertilizer

Abstract

Abstrak Pakan ternak alternatif yang dapat diberikan pada musim kemarau yang bertujuan menambah protein pada ternak adalah silase. Silase merupakan hijauan ternak yang diawetkan pada ruangan anaerob. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan di Desa Slateng, Ledokombo, Jember yang bertujuan untuk menambah wawasan masyarakat bermata pencaharian sebagai peternak. Metode yang diterapkan dalam kegiatan ini adalah ceramah dan diskusi pada sesi sosialisasi, serta praktik secara langsung untuk mengelola hijauan dengan baik dan benar. Praktek eksperimen ini dimulai dengan pemilihan hijauan, pencampuran dengan molase dan starter, fermentasi, pemeriksaan, dan penyimpanan. Silase yang baik adalah silase dengan bau dan aroma yang masam segar tanpa adanya bau tajam yang mengganggu, ph berkisar antara 4, warna kuning kehijauan, tekstur kering dan terasa empuk. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilanjut dengan evaluasi kesukaan ternak. Ternak yang sudah melalui fase adaptasi, mulai menghabiskan pakan alternatif yang diberikan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman peserta meningkat dari kategori mengetahui dari 20% menjadi 75%. Kata kunci: ternak; silase; pakan; hijauan. Abstract Alternative animal feed that can be given in the dry season with the aim of adding protein to livestock is silage. Silage is livestock forage that is preserved in an anaerobic room. This community service was carried out in Slateng Village, Ledokombo, Jember with the aim of increasing the knowledge of people who make a living as livestock breeders. The methods applied in this activity are lectures and discussions at socialization sessions, as well as direct practice to manage forage properly and correctly. This experimental practice begins with selecting forage, mixing with molasses and starter, fermentation, inspection, and storage. Good silage is silage with a fresh sour smell and aroma without any annoying sharp odor, pH ranges between 4, greenish yellow color, dry texture and soft feel. This service activity was continued with an evaluation of the livestock's preferences. Livestock that has gone through the adaptation phase begins to consume the alternative feed provided. The evaluation results showed that participants' understanding increased from the knowing category from 20% to 75%. Keywords: cattle; silage; feed; forage.

Abstract

Banana (Musa spp.) is an important horticultural plant with a high variety in Indonesia; yet, knowledge on the morphological characteristics of indigenous bananas in East Java remains inadequate. This research aims to identify the variation and classify banana cultivars in East Java based on morphological character. The exploration was conducted using the accidental sampling method. The observations include 15 qualitative and 9 quantitative characters. Descriptive statistics were used to evaluate the data, followed by cluster analysis using the average linkage method and Euclidean distance. The exploration resulted in 15 banana cultivars with varying morphology. The cluster analysis shows banana cultivars can be divided into four major groups. The first group includes six banana cultivars distinguished by many hands per bunch and a short petiole length. The second group comprises seven banana cultivars with medium leaf length and stem diameter, with Morosebo and Musang being the outliers. The third and fourth groups have only one banana cultivar, Musang and Agung, respectively. The Musang banana has distinct physical characters, most notably a large stem diameter, whilst the Agung banana has a longer fruit length and wider fruit circumference than others. The coefficient of variation (CV) is moderate, with the fruit length, fruit circumference, fruit stem diameter, and stem diameter all having a CV greater than 47%. Thus, they have the potential for further development through plant breeding programs
