Abstract

Construction projects often face challenges in the form of delays and cost overruns due to discrepancies between plans and actual implementation. The Dormitory Building at Airlangga University Campus C in Surabaya was selected as a case study to comprehensively evaluate project performance. The purpose of this study is to evaluate time and cost performance using the Earned Value Management (EVM) method to provide an accurate picture of the deviations that occur and as a basis for project control recommendations. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach with secondary data in the form of weekly progress reports, basic schedules, and project financial records. The analysis was conducted through the calculation of EVM indicators, which included Planned Value (PV), Earned Value (EV), Actual Cost (AC), Cost Performance Index (CPI), Schedule Performance Index (SPI), and Estimate at Completion (EAC). The results show that the project experienced delays with an average Schedule Performance Index (SPI) value of 0.92, or approximately 8% behind schedule, while the average Cost Performance Index (CPI) value of 1.05 indicates cost efficiency of 5% compared to the initial budget. The Estimated Cost at Completion (EAC) projects a completion cost of IDR 94.8 billion, which is lower than the contract value of IDR 95.6 billion. Therefore, the project is still under control in terms of cost but requires accelerated work to meet deadlines, while the application of EVM has proven to be effective as an early warning tool and a basis for decision-making in construction project management.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the structural behavior of Modified T-Stub steel connections under cyclic loading, with the expectation that the results can be applied to steel construction in Indonesia, particularly for structures requiring high seismic performance. In this research, conventional 4ES and Double T-Connections were modified into Modified T-Stub configurations to improve their deformation capacity, strength, and energy dissipation performance. Experimental cyclic loading tests were conducted to evaluate the structural response of the modified connections, focusing on parameters such as strength, stiffness degradation, and drift capacity. Two test specimens were used, namely WF 450×200×9×14 and WF 500×200×10×16, which represent commonly used steel profiles in Indonesian construction practice. Numerical simulations were also performed to support and validate the experimental results. The test results indicate that both specimens exhibited stable hysteretic behavior and satisfactory performance under repeated cyclic loading. The numerical analysis showed that the connections were able to achieve drift ratios of up to 5% radian, while the experimental tests demonstrated drift capacities of approximately 4% radian without significant strength degradation or premature failure. These findings demonstrate that the Modified T-Stub connections meet the performance requirements for certified Special Moment Connections (SMC). This study provides valuable insights into the development of high-performance steel connection systems and contributes to enhancing the safety, efficiency, and structural quality of steel buildings in seismic regions of Indonesia.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a corporate communication strategy by conducting a structured literature review of recent academic sources. The analysis categorizes the literature into key themes such as CSR’s impact on corporate image, stakeholder engagement, the role of social media, ethical concerns, and measurement of communication effectiveness. Findings reveal that CSR, when strategically communicated, enhances corporate reputation, builds stakeholder trust, and can lead to improved organizational performance. However, the effectiveness of CSR communication depends on several factors, including message framing, emotional appeal, platform selection, and industry context. Studies also emphasize the growing importance of participatory and dialogic communication approaches, particularly in digital environments, where consumers value authenticity and interaction. Furthermore, the credibility of CSR messaging and alignment between communicated motives and actual corporate actions are critical to avoiding stakeholder skepticism. The review highlights that while CSR communication offers significant strategic benefits, it also poses reputational risks if perceived as inauthentic or excessive. This study contributes to the understanding of CSR as a multidimensional tool in corporate communication and underscores the need for an integrated, stakeholder-focused communication strategy grounded in transparency, relevance, and ethical intent.

Abstract

Subarray-Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (SMIMO) radar is an advanced technology that integrates the advantages of phased-array and MIMO radars to enhance target detection resolution. A key challenge in SMIMO implementation lies in improving velocity resolution without compromising spectral efficiency, while maintaining accurate target detection capability under high sidelobe levels and inter-channel interference. This study proposes a novel approach—Combined Barker-M-Sequence Coded LFM—in which the LFM signal is phase-modulated using a hybrid code formed by concatenating a Barker sequence (length 11) and an M-sequence (length 7). Simulation results show that the proposed signal achieves a Peak Sidelobe Ratio (PSLR) of −20.83 dB, significantly outperforming LFM-Barker (−8.45 dB) and LFM-M-sequence (−16.3 dB). It also delivers a velocity resolution of 0.95 m/s and a range resolution of 225 m, representing a 38% improvement over standard LFM. Moreover, under SNR = −5 dB, the system achieves a SINR gain of 4.7 dB relative to LFM-M-sequence. This approach enables more efficient waveform utilization in modern radar applications—such as air surveillance, military defense, and autonomous vehicles—particularly in challenging environments characterized by low SNR, multipath propagation, and high clutter.

Abstract

Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) is an innovative concrete that can flow and compact itself without a compactor, making it highly effective for use in structures with dense reinforcement and complex shapes. However, the high cement requirements of SCC increase costs and carbon emissions, necessitating alternatives in the form of pozzolanic material substitutions such as fly ash and silica fume. This study aimed to analyze the effect of these two materials on the compressive and splitting tensile strength of SCC concrete through experimental methods with substitution variations of 0%, 10%, and 15% of the cement weight, as well as testing of fresh properties according to standards. The results showed that pozzolanic material substitution improved the mechanical performance of SCC, but to varying degrees. The addition of 10% fly ash only provided a moderate increase in compressive strength of approximately 4% at 28 days and had no significant effect on splitting tensile strength. On the other hand, 10% silica fume proved to be the most optimal composition because it produced the highest compressive strength of 57.49 MPa (an increase of about 28% from normal concrete) and increased the splitting tensile strength to 3.58 MPa, making it more effective for high-quality SCC.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the strengths and challenges in formulating a strategy to support the development of the Balek Angin Lake area under the scheme of Sintang Lestari (Sintang sustainable development protocols). This research was carried out in May and June 2019, where field visits focused around the site of Balek Angin Lake located in Akcaya I and Jerora Satu Villages in Sintang subdistrict of Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan Province. This research used a descriptive-quantitative approach. The study uses questionnaires to 10 representative informants, in-depth interviews, and field observations in data collection. Data were analyzed descriptively and SWOT analyses were used to formulate the development strategy. The results of this study show some strengths supporting the development of the area as an ecotourism site, i.e. undisturbed ecosystems, well-protected fish both in quantity and species diversity, the existence of regulation protecting lakes issued by the head of local government (Sintang Regent), and the existence of local non-governmental organization whose concern in nature protection of Balek Angin lake and upstream of Jemelak River. The main challenge, however, includes the widening business area managed by local residents, such as sand mining, plantation and settlement, disposals from households leading into the lake, and the decrease of household income as the result of the decrease of the price of Sintang's primary commodities. SWOT analyses result in 2.779 : 2.203, which means a horizontal integration strategy where collaboration among different stakeholders is needed. The strategy to develop Balek Angin Lake as an ecotourism site includes the enhancement of the ecosystem through protecting the upstream-downstream area, collaboration of local community and local government through the integration of local community, local NGO, local government, funding NGO, local academia and other environment-conscious stakeholders. Abstract

Preterm labor, defined as the onset of labor before 37 weeks of gestation, is a leading cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Effective management strategies are essential to delay delivery and improve neonatal outcomes. This study aims to compare the effectiveness and safety of Magnesium Sulfate-Nifedipine and Isoxsuprine-Nifedipine in managing preterm labor, focusing on success rates of tocolysis, maternal and neonatal outcomes, and associated side effects. A prospective randomized trial was conducted at Tangerang City General Hospital, involving 64 pregnant women with preterm labor. Participants were divided into two groups: Group 1 (Magnesium Sulfate-Nifedipine) and Group 2 (Isoxsuprine-Nifedipine), with 32 patients in each. Magnesium Sulfate-Nifedipine showed a significantly higher success rate of tocolysis (93.75%) compared to Isoxsuprine-Nifedipine (81.25%; p=0.002). In cases with cervical dilatation >1 cm, success rates were 90.0% for Group 1 and 44.4% for Group 2 (p=0.033). Similarly, for effacement >25%, success rates were 85.7% for Group 1 versus 16.7% for Group 2 (p=0.009). None showed cardiovascular side effects such as tachycardia or hypotension. Magnesium Sulfate-Nifedipine shows superior efficacy in treating preterm labor, especially in patients with advanced cervical changes. Both regimens were safe, with minimal side effects.
