Abstract

Antioxidant is a substance that can inhibit or slow down the oxidation process and is able to counteract the negative effects of oxidants in the body that are beneficial to health. Antioxidants can be found in vegetables, fruits, tea and chocolate. Antioxidants can be obtained by extraction. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of long extraction and ethanol concentration on the extraction yield results, antioxidant activity and calculate the mass balance process. The materials used are cocoa (Theobroma cacao L). Research compiled using Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors: the long process of extraction by maceration namely (8,12,16,20 and 24 hours) and ethanol concentration of 70% and 80%. The results showed that the best treatment was obtained from the 20-hour long extraction and ethanol concentration of 80% for the antioxidant activity IC50 of 82 ppm and a yield of 8.63%.Keywords: Antioxidants, Extraction, Ethanol, Cocoa, Old Extraction.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to estimate grade of mango with artificial neural network.  There are three grade of mango: grade I, grade II and grade III. Each grade consists of 40 samples. The Artificial Neural Network consists of three model; first model: 3 input, second model: 5 input and third model: 7 input.  Each of models consists of three outputs with 1000, 2500, and 5000 iteration, and 3, 5, and 7 hidden layers. The result of this study show that the accuracy of artificial neural network in grade of mango: (1) the first model 60% - 100%;  (2) the second model 90% and (3) the third model 90 %. The conclusion of this study is the artificial neural network can predict the grade of mango and the best model is the third model.   Keywords: Mango, grade, artificial neural network

Abstract

Inovasi dan penggunaan teknologi rice transplanter berpeluang untuk mempercepat waktu tanam bibit padi serta mengatasi kelangkaan tenaga kerja tanam bibit padi. Pola tanam dengan produktifitas tinggi yaitu jajar legowo, untuk pola tersebut digunakan rice transplanter tipe indo jarwo. Kepadatan benih pada media persemian (dapok) yang optimal dibutuhkan untuk mendapatkan hasil panen yang baik, dan kesesuaian terhadap pengoperasian rice transplanter. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengamatan dan analisis pengaruh perbedaan kepadatan benih pada media persemaian dapok. Kepadatan yang digunakan yaitu 60 gram, 70 gram, dan 80 gram pada luas tiap dapok 1044 cm2. Percobaan menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan tiga perlakuan kepadatan benih pada media persemaian dan pengulangan sebanyak 3 kali. Keragaman perlakuan dianalisis menggunakan analisis varians pada taraf uji F 5% dan 1%. Perbedaan rata-rata perlakuan diuji mengunakan beda nyata terkecil (BNT) 5%. Hasil penelitian didapatkan kepadatan benih pada media persemaian berpengaruh terhadap jumlah pengeluaran bibit per lubang, namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan persemaian padi, kerusakan bibit, jarak tanam, kecepatan penanaman, dan efisiensi.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPerancangan alat untuk penanganan, pengeringan, pengolahan dan penyimpanan biji-bijian sangat memerlukan data sifat fisik dan mekanik. Penentuan sifat fisik dan mekanik lerak dilakukan pada rentang kadar air 11,36–26,27%. Panjang, lebar, dan tebal rata-rata pada kondisi kadar air 11,36% adalah 23,85 mm, 21,77 mm, dan 20,86 mm berturut-turut. Pada rentang kadar air 11,36–26.27%, hasil penelitian pada parameter ketiga dimensi aksial, diameter rata-rata menunjukkan peningkatan secara linear, luas permukaan dari 1578,17-1846,47 mm2, kebulatan mengalami penurunan dari 0,93 menjadi 0,92. Bulk density mengalami penurunan dari 0,69 gr/cm3 menjadi 0,61 gr/cm3 dan true density menunjukkan peningkatan dengan perubahan kadar air biji yaitu 0,82-1,00 gr/cm3. Porositas meningkat dari 14,65-36,68% dengan peningkatan kadar air pada rentang 11,36–26,27%. Nilai coeficient of static friction menunjukkan peningkatan dengan peningkatan kadar air dan secara berturut-turut rentang nilai dari yang terbesar hingga yang terkecil adalah stainless steal, papan triplek, kardus, plat besi dan kaca. Pemberian uji tekan lerak pada tingkat kadar air yang berbeda menunjukkan nilai tekan yang mengalami peningkatan pada panjang adalah 63,71 N hingga 97,12 N, sedangkan lebar dan tebal menunjukkan penurunan yaitu 154,19 N menjadi 67,67 N dan 130,30 N menjadi 71,88 N.Kata Kunci : Kadar Air; Lerak (Sapindus rarak); Sifat Fisik; Sifat Mekanik ABSTRACT The design of tools for handling, drying, processing and storing grains requires data on physical and mechanical properties. Determination of physical and mechanical properties of lerak carried out in the range of water content 11.365-26.271%. The average length, width, and thickness in the condition of 11.365% water content were 23.85 mm, 21.77 mm, and 20.86 mm respectively. In the range of water content of 11.36 -26,27%, the results of research on the parameters of the three axial dimensions, the average diameter showed an increase in linear, surface area from 1578.17-1846.47 mm2, roundness decreased from 0.93 to 0.92. Bulk density decreased from 0.69 gr/cm3 to 0.61 gr/cm3 and true density showed an increase with changes in seed moisture content from 0.82 gr/cm3 to 1.00 gr/cm3. Porosity increased from 14.65%-36.68% with an increase in water content in the range of 11.36-26.27%. The coefficient value of static friction os shows an increase with an increase in water content and successively ranges of values from the largest to the smallest are stainless steals, plywood boards, cardboard boxes, iron plates, and glass. The application of the compressive test of lerak at different levels of water content showed that the compressive value that increased in length was 63.71-97.12 N, while width and thickness showed a decrease of 154.19 to 67.67 N and 130.03 N to 71.88 N.Keywords : Moisture Content; Lerak (Sapindus rarak); Physical Properties Mechanical Properties
