Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve the public speaking skills of MA Ulul Albab Makassar students. The activity method applied was a participatory method, in the sense that the implementation of the activity emphasizes active student participation, involving teachers and stakeholders at school. The activity was carried out in February 2025 with several stages, including; observation, participant recruitment activities, implementation stages, public speaking practice and evaluation. The output of this activity has a significant impact on improving students' public speaking both in terms of hard skills and soft skills. Students' hard skill abilities were seen from students' verbal abilities, stage mastery, and interactive aspects to the audience. Improvement in soft skills was measured from the aspect of material that has Pancasila character content and local wisdom values ​​of the Bugis-Makassar community, as well as aspects of students' attitudes and behavior both in and outside the classroom.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the Story Grammar Strategy in improving students’ reading comprehension of narrative texts. Utilizing a Classroom Action Research approach, the research was conducted in two cycles comprising planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The participants consisted of 35 eleventh-grade students. The results showed a substantial improvement in reading comprehension scores, with the average increasing from 55.07 in the first cycle to 89.71 in the second cycle. Students demonstrated enhanced abilities in identifying narrative elements such as setting, characters, conflict, and resolution, along with increased engagement and motivation during learning activities. The findings suggest that the Story Grammar Strategy is an effective instructional method that fosters both cognitive and affective development in reading narrative texts within EFL classrooms.

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan model Pembelajaran Talking Stick untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas III SDN 40 Paddangeng Kabupaten Soppeng. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas III SDN 40 Paddangeng yang berjumlah 14 orang dan wali kelas III. Teknik Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara dan observasi. Teknik analisis data yaitu, reduksi data, paparan data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa presentase aktivitas guru pada siklus I mencapai 66,7% (Cukup), sedangkan pada siklus II mencapai 85,71% (baik). Presentase aktivitas siswa pada siklus I mencapai 62% (Cukup) ,sedangkan pada siklus II mencapai 85,71% (Baik). Hasil tes kemampuan berbicara siswa pada siklus I terdapat 6 dari 14 siswa yang tuntas dengan presentase ketuntasan belajar 64,2 %, sedangkan pada siklus II terdapat 11 dari 14 siswa yang tuntas dengan presentase ketuntasan belajar 78,57%. Kesimpulan penelitian bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Talking Stick dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas III SDN 40 Paddangeng, Kabupaten Soppeng."

Abstract

This study is a descriptive qualitative study that aims to describe the student learning participation in IPAS learning. The subjects in this study were of the teachers and the students of the fifth grade at SDN 71 Maccini. The research data collection techniques used were interview, observation and questionnaire techniques. The data analysis techniques of this study were data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Results and conclusions: The learning participation of students of grade V of SDN 71 Maccini, Liliriaja District, Soppeng Regency in science learning are (1) Students are enthusiastic, enthusiastic, active in asking and answering questions, active in discussions and group work, have the initiative in seeking information through various sources, and have the courage and confidence in conveying the results of group discussions in front of the class.

Abstract

This study aimed to measure the improvement of students' creative thinking skills after using Controversy-based integrated science learning tools.  The study employed a pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest. The research subjects were 20 students of the Science Education Program, The State University of Makassar selected using the Nonprobablit sampling technique (saturation sampling). The instrument was an essay test that had been validated. The findings show a significant difference in students' average creative thinking skills before and after learning using Controversy based Integrated Science learning tools. It shows that the improvement of students' creative thinking skills after being treated with Controversy based Integrated Science learning tools was in high category and significant. Students were able to develop their knowledge, predict some limited information, formulate a solution to a problem, and analyze information from different perspectives.
