Abstract

Pengendalian kadar gula darah masih menjadi permasalahan seperti rendahnya kepatuhan penderita untuk melakukan pengobatan rutin serta gaya hidup yang tidak sehat. Salah satu cara untuk mengendalikan kadar glukosa darah dapat dilakukan dengan cara tradisional menggunakan bahan alam. Salah satu bahan alam yang dapat digunakan yaitu daun pegagan (Centella asiatica (L.) urban) yang memiliki berbagai macam kandungan senyawa berkhasiat. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan mitra terkait pengendalian kadar gula darah, sekaligus meningkatkan keterampilan mitra dalam memanfaatkan lahan pembudidayaan tanaman pegagan sebagai upaya preventif mengendalikan kadar gula darah. Metode yang digunakan yaitu pendidikan kesehatan melalui focus group discussion serta penyuluhan pada masyarakat di Desa Renon, Denpasar Selatan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukan edukasi yang dilakukan meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang pemanfaatan pegagan sebagai upaya preventif dalam mengendalikan kadar gula darah. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan peran serta masyarakat dan kesadaran masyarakat dalam usaha pengendalian angka kejadian hiperglikemia. Sangat penting dilakukan pemberdayaan masyarakat sebagai kader pemantau dalam mengendalikan hiperglikemia serta menyebarkan informasi pemanfaatan bahan alam sebagai upaya preventif menurunkan prevalensi hiperglikemia.

Abstract

Foodborne illnesses are mostly caused by bacteria. Bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Salmonella sp., Shigella sp. and Staphylococcus aureus, are the most common causes of foodborne diseases. One alternative to reduce the risk of infection from bacteria that cause foodborne diseases is the consumption of probiotic beverages, which has become a natural alternative in improving digestive health and endurance. One type of probiotic drink that is gaining increasing attention is plant-based kombucha tea. Plant parts that can be used as kombucha tea are fruits, leaves, and flowers and have antibacterial activity with various categories of inhibition zone strength. This research uses a systematic review and collects relevant articles, with 14 articles as the main reference. The analysis found that salak Bali fruit, pineapple honey fruit, belimbing wuluh fruit, tea leaves, soursop leaves, telang flowers, gardenia flowers, and red seaweed have the potential as a probiotic kombucha tea drink that can inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria that cause foodborne diseases. The categories of inhibition zones produced ranged from weak to very strong, with inhibition zone diameters ranging from 4.20 mm to 24.7 mm. The optimal zone of inhibition of this probiotic drink is influenced by the plant parts used, the length of fermentation, the type of substrate, the test method and the type of bacteria. Plant-based probiotic beverages show effective antibacterial activity against foodborne pathogens and offer valuable insights into microbial interactions and sustainable food biotechnology in scientific learning.

Abstract

Chronic stress is a condition that can adversely affect the central nervous system, particularly the brain, by causing damage to neurons in the hippocampal region, which plays a crucial role in memory and learning functions. This study aimed to evaluate the neuroprotective effects of a combined extract of gotu kola leaves (Centella asiatica) and peppermint leaves (Mentha piperita) on the number of normal brain cells in male mice (Mus musculus) subjected to chronic stress. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used with five treatment groups: a negative control group (K−) with no stress and no extract, a positive control group (K+) exposed to stress without extract administration, and three treatment groups (P1, P2, and P3) receiving the combined extract at doses of 100 mg/kg BW, 200 mg/kg BW, and 300 mg/kg BW, respectively. Stress induction was carried out using the immobilization method for 14 consecutive days, followed by extract administration for 35 days. After the treatment period, hippocampal brain tissue was collected and histologically analyzed using Hematoxylin-Eosin (H&E) staining. To assess the treatment effects, One-Way ANOVA was performed. Significant differences were found, Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was conducted at a 5% significance level (p< 0.05). The results demonstrated that administration of the gotu kola and peppermint extract combination significantly reduced neuronal damage and increased the number of normal brain cells. The P3 group (300 mg/kg BW) exhibited the highest number of normal brain cells and the lowest neuronal damage scores, closely resembling the normal condition in the K− group. Therefore, the combination of gotu kola and peppermint leaf extracts shows potential as a natural neuroprotective agent in mitigating the adverse effects of chronic stress on the brain.

Abstract

Minuman probiotik merupakan salah satu produk pangan fungsional yang memiliki beragam manfaat bagi kesehatan. Jus buah dinilai sebagai media alternatif yang potensial untuk penambahan kultur probiotik karena dianggap sehat dan sering dikonsumsi secara rutin. Namun, pemahaman masyarakat terkait minuman probiotik berbasis buah masih tergolong rendah. Bali sebagai salah satu provinsi dengan kekayaan buah lokal, seperti Salak Bali dan Jeruk Siam Kintamani, memiliki potensi besar dalam pengembangan produk minuman probiotik. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini dilaksanakan di SMK Negeri 1 Kintamani dengan melibatkan siswa dari jurusan Agribisnis Pengolahan Hasil Pertanian. Tujuan kegiatan adalah memberikan edukasi mengenai manfaat minuman probiotik berbasis kulit buah lokal, khususnya kulit jeruk siam Kintamani (Citrus nobilis), sebagai upaya pemanfaatan limbah pertanian menjadi produk fungsional yang bernilai. Proses pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi pretest, edukasi, sesi diskusi interaktif, dan posttest. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan siswa secara signifikan, di mana sebanyak 30 siswa (88,24%) menunjukkan pemahaman yang baik setelah mengikuti kegiatan edukasi. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa edukasi mengenai manfaat minuman probiotik berbasis buah lokal dapat meningkatkan kesadaran dan pengetahuan siswa, serta membuka peluang pemanfaatan kulit jeruk siam Kintamani sebagai produk minuman fungsional yang berpotensi meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat. Abstract

Tingkat pengangguran lulusan SMK di Indonesia masih tinggi meskipun mereka memiliki keterampilan teknis, dengan salah satu penyebab utamanya adalah rendahnya kemampuan kewirausahaan. Pengembangan keterampilan ini menjadi penting untuk membantu lulusan SMK menghadapi dunia kerja dan menciptakan peluang usaha. SMK Negeri 1 Kintamani merupakan sekolah kejuruan yang terletak di Desa Belantih, Kecamatan Kintamani, Bangli, dengan salah satu jurusan unggulannya yaitu Agribisnis Pengolahan Hasil Pertanian (APHP). SMK Negeri 1 Kintamani belum berhasil secara optimal dalam menghasilkan lulusan yang dapat menciptakan lapangan pekerjaan karena banyak dari mereka bekerja di luar bidang yang mereka pelajari. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) yang dilaksanakan di SMK Negeri 1 Kintamani bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan siswa dalam pembuatan minuman probiotik kombucha. Kegiatan diikuti oleh siswa kelas XI Jurusan yang berjumlah 34 orang siswa. Kegiatan PkM diawali dengan (1) analisis situasi dan masalah, (2) melakukan sosialisasi, (3) pemberian pelatihan, (4) melakukan pendampingan, dan (5) evalusi kegiatan. Hasil evaluasi melalui post-test menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan peserta, dengan 82,3% siswa berada pada kategori pengetahuan yang baik. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga menggugah ide kewirausahaan peserta untuk memanfaatkan produk kombucha khas Kintamani sebagai peluang bisnis. Secara keseluruhan, pelatihan ini berhasil memberikan keterampilan baru dan meningkatkan kesadaran akan potensi produk lokal, sekaligus membuka peluang usaha berbasis minuman probiotik di kalangan siswa dan mitra.   Kata kunci : Pelatihan kombucha, kewirausahan, produk lokal

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Pernikahan dibawah umur saat ini masih sering terjadi dan dapat memberikan dampak pada keadaan ekonomi, kesehatan, sosial, dan psikologi dari remaja itu sendiri. Salah satu faktor penyebabnya adalah minimnya pemahaman dan sikap Pendewasaan Usia Perkawinan (PUP). PUP bisa didapat oleh remaja melalui Pusat Informasi dan Konseling Remaja (PIK-R). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan antara partisipasi siswa dalam PIK-R dengan sikap PUP Siswa SMA khususnya di Kota Denpasar. Metode: Penelitian korelasi cross sectional ini dilaksanakan di dua SMA Negeri di Kota Denpasar pada bulan Maret 2021. Lima puluh lima siswa yang mengikuti kegiatan PIK-R menjadi sampel penelitian yang dipilih menggunakan metode total sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua instrumen yang dikembangkan oleh peneliti, yaitu kuesioner partisipasi dalam PIK-R dan sikap PUP. Kuesioner disebarkan secara daring melalui Google Form dan dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik Spearman rho. Hasil: Partisipasi dalam kegiatan PIK-R terbanyak berada pada kategori sedang yaitu 36 responden (65,5%). Kategori sikap PUP terbanyak adalah baik sejumlah 52 responden (94,5%). Ada hubungan bermakna antara partisipasi siswa dalam PIK-R dengan sikap PUP (p-value < 0,05, r = 0,34). Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan signifikan antara partisipasi siswa dalam PIK-R dengan sikap PUP pada siswa SMA Negeri khususnya di Kota Denpasar.

Abstract

Yogurt is a fermented milk product known as a functional food. Food diversification efforts by finding alternative yogurt raw materials to replace animal milk are necessary to provide products for people who want alternative non-dairy yogurt products. One of the plant-based milks that has a nutritional content similar to animal milk is coconut (Cocos nucifera). Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera) are reported to contain antioxidant compounds and have therapeutic benefits, making them potentially suitable for use as a fortifier in cocoyogurt functional drinks. The purpose of this study was to obtain the most appropriate formula for adding moringa leaf extract to produce cocoyogurt products that are high in antioxidants and have physicochemical and organoleptic properties that are acceptable to consumers. The design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments, namely: P0 = without the addition of moringa leaf extract; P1 = moringa leaf extract 1 g/L; P2 = moringa leaf extract 2 g/L; and P3 = moringa leaf extract 3 g/L. The data obtained were analyzed using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) statistical method and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test if there was a significant difference (P ≤ 0.05) between treatments. Based on the results of the study, it is known that the addition of moringa leaf extract to coconut milk yogurt produces cocoyoghurt with a low acidity (pH) (4.5-44.3), which is in accordance with the SNI standard (2981-2009) for yogurt quality. Overall, the best treatment in cocoyoghurt was the addition of 3 g/L of moringa leaf extract with an IC50 value of 148.33 µg/ml, with free radical inhibitory activity in the moderate category, and the sensory properties of taste, aroma, color, and texture showed the most preferred values ​​by the panellists. These findings have broader implications for functional food innovation, particularly in developing plant-based, nutrient-enriched products that cater to lactose-intolerant populations and health-conscious consumers seeking natural sources of antioxidants.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Permasalahan remaja seperti pergaulan bebas, kehamilan tidak diinginkan, pernikahan dini, ketidakpatuhan konsumsi tablet tambah darah masih menjadi perhatian khusus di Indonesia. Salah satu strateginya adalah program Pelayanan Kesehatan Peduli Remaja (PKPR) untuk mendukung peningkatan pemahaman remaja tentang kesehatan reproduksi. Tujuan yaitu untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan konselor sebaya tentang kesehatan reproduksi, UKS berbasis web dan pembuatan teh celup daun pegagan. Metode dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yaitu sosialisasi, pelatihan dan pengembangan produk. Sasaran adalah siswa yang ditunjuk sebagai konselor sebaya sebanyak 48 orang. Peserta sangat antusias dan terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan tentang kesehatan reproduksi, uks berbasis web dan pembuatan teh celup daun pegagan. Kata Kunci: Konselor Sebaya, Kesehatan Reproduksi, UKS, Daun Pegagan  ABSTRACT Adolescent issues such as risky sexual behavior, unintended pregnancy, early marriage, and non-compliance with iron tablet supplementation remain major public health concerns in Indonesia. One of the strategies to address these challenges is the Adolescent-Friendly Health Services program, which aims to improve adolescents’ understanding of reproductive health. The present program was designed to enhance the knowledge of peer counselors on reproductive health, web-based school health units, and the production of Centella asiatica herbal tea bags. This community service activity employed a combination of socialization, training, and product development methods. The target participants were 48 students appointed as peer counselors. The participants demonstrated high levels of enthusiasm, and post-activity assessments indicated a notable improvement in knowledge regarding reproductive health, web-based UKS, and the process of producing Centella asiatica tea bags. Keywords: Peer Counselors, Reproductive Health, School Health Unit, Centella Asiatica

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the active compounds, antioxidants, and antibacterial effectiveness of Acanthus ilicifolius leaves against microbial food-borne diseases as an alternative to functional food beverages. This study was an experimental study using a completely randomized design on a laboratory-scale experiment (in vitro), and the data obtained in this study were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed that the phytochemical screening of Acanthus ilicifolius leaves contained metabolite compounds of flavonoids, phenols, and tannins of 1072.44 mg/100g, 2619.64 mg/100 g, and 3205.66 mg/100g, respectively. The IC50 value of Acanthus ilicifolius leaf extract, namely 221.67 ppm, has fragile antioxidant activity. At the same time, the highest inhibition was produced at an extract concentration of 100%. The concentration of Acanthus ilicifolius leaf extract at a concentration of 100% resulted in the highest average inhibition on bacteria of 9.67 ± 0.36 mm and 10.12 ±  1.12 mm, respectively, against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Salmonella sp. of 6.82 ± 0.15 mm, 6.18 ± 0.02 mm, and 6.19 ± 0.07 mm.

Abstract

Obesity is a condition where the body is overweight due to fat accumulation, each exceeding 20-25% of body weight for men and women. L-carnitine is a nutrient that plays a role in transporting fat to the mitochondria to be burned and converted into energy for the body. Sufficient L-carnitine allows the body to burn fat at optimal levels. This research aims to determine the side effects of fed L-carnitine supplements against liver histology. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four groups comprising six albino rats. The treatments were fed orally by distilled water 1 ml/day (Control), P1 fed by L-carnitine supplement dose 100 mg/kg body weight orally 1ml/day, P2 fed by L-carnitine supplement dose 150 mg/kg body weight orally 1ml/day, P3 fed by L-carnitine supplement dose 200 mg/kg body weight orally 1ml/day. Treatments were given to albino rats every day for 90 days. Variables observed measured were lipid degeneration, central vein dilation, and pyknotic nuclei. Data were analyzed with the statistical program (SPSS 22.0 for Windows) with One Way ANOVA. The results showed that feeding L-carnitine supplements in high doses for long periods can damage the liver cells of male rats. The microscopic liver damage statistical analysis showed significant differences (P<0.05) between the control and treatment groups.
