Abstract

The seedling phase is a critical stage in plant development, where the presence of plant-disturbing organisms (PDOs) can significantly reduce seedling quality and viability, particularly in rehabilitation species such as Samanea saman (Trembesi). This study aimed to analyze the intensity of pest and disease attacks, identify the types of PDOs involved, and describe the symptoms and signs of infestation observed in S. saman seedlings at the Tectona Nursery, KHDTK Bukit Soeharto, East Kalimantan. A simple random sampling method was applied to select 50 seedlings from a total population of 1,000 four-month-old individuals. Data collection was conducted through direct field observation of physical plant conditions, severity scoring, and documentation of symptoms and signs of biotic attack. The results showed that all sampled seedlings were affected, with an infestation intensity reaching 65.2%, classified as heavily infested. The observed symptoms included defoliation, foliar tissue loss (skeletonizing), leaf spots, leaf blight, and stem boring. Identified signs of attack included larvae from the order Lepidoptera and  mealybug (Pseudococcidae) and aphids, which are suspected to be the primary agents of tissue damage. These findings underscore the importance of monitoring pest and disease populations and implementing ecologically based Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies tailored to the nursery microclimate. Technical training and coordinated IPM implementation are essential to enhance seedling resilience and support the success of tropical forest rehabilitation.

Abstract

The Mobile Brigade (Brimob) retention pond is located on Jalan Demang Lebar Daun, Ilir Barat 2 District, Palembang City. The retention pond is in poor condition. It covers 2,147.6 m2 and has a depth of 3 meters. The area of the Brimob retention pond often overflows during heavy rainfall and floods the surrounding roads.From the discussion and calculations, the analysis of the Brimob retention pond shows that the inlet discharge is 6.039 m3/sec. The total flood discharge is 2.1609 m3 for the Brimob retention pond area. The capacity of the Brimob retention pond is 73119m3. From the points above, based on the objectives of this analysis, it is concluded that the retention pond capacity is 73119 m3.

Abstract

This community service activity focuses on training on the use of short social media videos as a learning medium. The aim of this service is to develop the skills of lecturers at the Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences, Trunojoyo University, Madura, to be able to make videos as a good learning medium. The method for implementing this service activity is in the form of training regarding the use of short social media videos and practice in creating video content through the CapCut application. The results of this service show an increase in participants' understanding and skills in creating learning video content and through this activity it is hoped that educators, namely lecturers, can be more effective in providing learning material by utilizing short video content as learning media.

Abstract

In this digital era, da'wah strategies have also undergone a transformation, from conventional methods to more modern and creative methods. Therefore, the background of this research is that many young people are reluctant to listen to advice such as lectures because they are considered boring and time-consuming. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the use of Podcasts in delivering da'wah is able to make young people, in particular, return to listening to lectures. This research was conducted qualitatively using a descriptive research design. Based on the results of the study, it shows that Ustadz Felix Siauw utilizes the Escape podcast as a digital da'wah medium that is adaptive to technological developments and the characteristics of young audiences. Through a persuasive, dialogical, and contextual communication style, he successfully conveys Islamic messages in a light but meaningful manner. The da'wah strategy implemented emphasizes a balance between emotional and rational aspects, and is supported by strong narrative skills.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low basic Arabic language skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Palembang, which encompass reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The main focus of this study is to analyze in depth the factors causing these learning difficulties, the efforts made by teachers to overcome them, and the learning approaches and methods applied in the classroom. Using a qualitative approach with research steps such as observation, interviews, and documentation, data were analyzed to gain a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon. Key findings indicate that students' difficulties are rooted in several fundamental aspects: pronunciation of unfamiliar pronunciations, letter recognition and connection, simple sentence construction, and minimal vocabulary mastery due to a lack of regular practice. Although teachers have implemented a humanistic approach with lecture and practice methods, the lack of varied teaching strategies remains a barrier, even though learning facilities are considered adequate. In conclusion, these difficulties in learning Arabic are not insurmountable. The main solutions lie in increasing the frequency of practice, adapting learning methods to be more interactive and appropriate to student characteristics, and systematically strengthening the habit of reading and writing Arabic to build vocabulary and sentence structure mastery gradually. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan dasar bahasa Arab siswa kelas VII di SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Palembang, yang mencakup aspek membaca, menulis, berbicara, dan menyimak. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis secara mendalam faktor-faktor penyebab kesulitan belajar tersebut, upaya yang dilakukan guru untuk mengatasinya, serta pendekatan dan metode pembelajaran yang diterapkan di kelas. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan langkah-langkah penelitian berupa observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, data dianalisis untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang komprehensif mengenai fenomena tersebut. Temuan utama menunjukkan bahwa kesulitan siswa berakar pada beberapa aspek fundamental: pengucapan lafal yang asing, pengenalan dan penyambungan huruf, penyusunan kalimat sederhana, serta minimnya penguasaan kosakata akibat kurangnya latihan rutin. Meskipun guru telah menerapkan pendekatan humanis dengan metode ceramah dan praktik, strategi pengajaran yang kurang variatif masih menjadi kendala, sekalipun fasilitas belajar dinilai memadai. Kesimpulannya, kesulitan belajar bahasa Arab ini bukanlah hal yang tidak teratasi. Solusi utamanya terletak pada peningkatan frekuensi latihan, penyesuaian metode pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif dan sesuai dengan karakteristik siswa, serta penguatan pembiasaan membaca dan menulis bahasa Arab secara sistematis untuk membangun penguasaan kosakata dan struktur kalimat secara bertahap.

Abstract

Film merupakan media komunikasi masa dan sebagai produk budaya popular. Film memiliki beragam genre salah satu nya yaitu pada film Barbie yaitu fantasi, romansa, dan komedi. Dalam film tersebut menunjukkan adanya isu-isu mengenai feminisme yang ada dalam film tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis kualitatif deskriptif. Penelitian deskripstif menguraikan data berupa deskriptif yang berupa kata-kata tertulis, serta perilaku yang dapat diamati. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis semiotika Rolan Barthes yang menunjukkan makna dalam sebuah film. Isu feminisme dalam film Barbie ini dapat berupa Barbie bisa menjadi apapun sesuai dengan keinginannya. Perempuan bukan sebagai objek tetapi agen perubahan. Sesama perempuan harus saling memberikan dukungan satu sama lainnya.

Abstract

Batik has become a cultural identity for Indonesian people. Madura Island also has cultural richness in the form of Madurese batik which is still preserved to this day, inseparable from the batik civilization of Tanjungbumi Village, Bangkalan Regency. This research is aim to identify the process of civilizing process of women's batik as the cultural capital of Madurese batik craftsmen in Tanjungbumi Village. This research conducted in Tanjungbumi Village in August 2023. The research method used qualitative research. Techniques through observation and interviews with purposive sampling. This research is very important and useful for stakeholders in formulating policies for developing the Madurese batik business in Tanjungbumi Village, Bangkalan Regency. The results of the study shows that the process of civilizing process of batik according to Norbert Elias can take place through two processes, namely psychogenesis and sociogenesis. First, psychogenesis can be understood through batik techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation by families. The philosophical meaning of batik as basic knowledge through the family is then internalized by batik makers in producing batik. The value of tenacity and patience inherent in women as part of the sociogenesis of batik making needs to be owned and produced repeatedly. Second, sociogenesis takes place as a reinforcement of the social construction that women are still synonymous with batik. Third, this civilization process will become cultural capital that can be maintained, including through the social institutions of the family, batik community and government through batik development training in Tanjungbumi Village, Bangkalan

Abstract

Batik is not only an economic commodity, but also a cultural heritage. The ecosystem for women batik business actors carrying out their business activities is not yet optimal, and does not depend on economic capital but is seen as a social process that is accumulative of habitus, capital and various arenas. It is necessary to examine further the social practices of women in the development of the Madurese batik business in Tanjungbumi Village, Bangkalan. This research method uses a case study, carried out in Tanjungbumi Village during October-November 2023. The research informants are women who are entrepreneurs in the Madurese batik business. The data analysis technique used is a descriptive case study. The research results show that women's repeated social practices are strongly influenced by realities inside and outside the individual, namely knowledge, skills, social networks, promotional media and batik market share, which play an important role in social practices in the production, distribution and consumption arenas. The conclusion of research on women's social practices in developing the Madurese batik business in Tanjungbumi Village has not been optimal in creating a supportive ecosystem for batik business actors.

Abstract

Urban communities plant more ornamental and vegetable crops than medicinal plants, although medicinal plants are one solution for maintaining health and supporting the treatment of illnesses within the family. There are many types of family medicinal plants useful in curing diseases that can be grown in the home garden or on the terrace. This community service aims to increase the knowledge of Dasa Wisma mothers in RT 31 and RT 33, Sungai Dama Village, about the types of family medicinal plants and to increase their knowledge of how to process and use family medicinal plants. The method applied in this service is lectures to educate about family medicinal plants, their processing, and their use. There were 35 Dasa Wisma participants. Based on the observation results, this service has a positive impact because the mothers actively asked questions during the discussion session after the material was presented. The Dasa Wisma mothers asked for more detailed information about how to process and use family medicinal plants. The average pre-test score obtained was 89.47, while the average post-test score was 93.52. The range of pre-test scores given before the material was presented and the post-test scores given after the presentation increased by 4.05. This indicates an increase in the knowledge of Dasa Wisma mothers regarding the types of medicinal plants in the family, as well as their processing and use. This community service effectively increased the knowledge of Dasa Wisma mothers about medicinal plants, how to process them, and their uses.

Abstract

This research is entitled The Role of Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association and Nahdlatul Ulama Female Student Association (IPNU-IPPNU) in the Process of Character Development of Nahdlatul Ulama Students in Sumber Rejeki Village, Karang Agung Ilir District. This research aims to determine the role and supporting and inhibiting factors of the Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association (IPNU) and Nahdlatul Ulama Female Student Association (IPPNU) in character development of students. The focus of this research is how IPNU-IPPNU through its da'wah programs and activities is able to increase awareness, discipline, and religious values ​​in students, especially in the Nahdlatul Ulama environment such as through Makesta activities, PHBI, sholawat, and musyawarah. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed by data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Informants in this study included the head of IPNU-IPPNU, members of IPNU-IPPNU, and the community of Sumber Rejeki Village. The results indicate several supporting and inhibiting factors in developing student character through the IPNU-IPPNU organization, namely technology, society, parental influence, genetics, and education. These factors contribute to shaping students' character, fostering noble morals, responsibility, and social awareness. Furthermore, the existence of IPNU-IPPNU serves as a strategic platform for instilling Islamic and national values ​​in a balanced manner. In conclusion, IPNU-IPPNU plays a crucial role as a student organization, serving not only as a medium for learning and organizing but also as an effective tool for character development. This research is expected to contribute to the development of da'wah strategies and the development of character education among students.
