Abstract

Watershed management is starting with knowing and recording the problems that exist in the watershed. Condition of the watershed that continues to deteriorate can trigger natural disasters such as flash floods that occurred in the Cidurian Watershed. Hydrological design, especially for short-term phenomena runs generates the synthetic unit hydrograph. Snyder synthetic unit hydrograph is the common synthetic hydrograph that widely used on hydrological analysis. Generally, on the snyder synthetic unit hydrograph, the coefficient value (peak coefficient, time coefficient, CW75 and CW50) is only based on estimates or previous research so that the calculation of discharge is less accurate and needs further research. This study discusses the prediction of the value of the Peak Coefficient (Cp), Time Coefficient (Ct), CW75 and CW50 in the Cidurian Watershed using the Snyder Synthetic Unit Hydrograph (HSS) and get a calculation graph between the Polynomial and Collins Unit Hydrographs against the Snyder Synthetic Unit Hydrograph (HSS) in the Cidurian Watershed with rainfall data processing using the Thiessen Polygon, Mononobe, and Alternating Block Method (ABM). The results showed that the value of Peak Coefficient (Cp) = 0.59, Coefficient of Time (Ct) = 0.09, CW75 = 1.22, CW50 = 2.14, with Peak Discharge (Qp) Collins Measured Unit Hydrograph 19th hour = 1.589 m3/s, and Peak Discharge (Qp) Snyder Synthetic Unit Hydrograph 11th hour, 1 = 1.59 m3/s.

Abstract

Abstract

The continuous use of ground water will have an impact on the sustainability of groundwater. One way to maintain the quality and quantity of groundwater is to apply absorption wells. In addition to increasing the amount of groundwater, the amount of surface runoff that can cause flooding problems can also be reduced. By increasing the amount of water infiltrated would affect ground water level fluctuations, so as this will have an impact on dry season where water reserves are not significantly reduced. The greater the water infiltration will have an impact on the reduced surface runoff. The application of making absorption wells in the devotion to the community in Taman Sari Village was done with a single model. Through the concept of community empowerment training by making absorption wells is expected to be a change in community behavior that is increasingly concerned and responsive to the environment, especially about the problems of flooding and drought starts from the micro level.

Abstract

Rainfall data is one of the important initial inputs in hydrological analysis, but it is often incomplete due to various constraints such as damage to measuring instruments or uneven distribution of measurement stations. To overcome this problem, weather observation with satellites can be used. However, before using satellite rainfall data, it is necessary to test its suitability with field data to ensure its accuracy. This study aims to evaluate the PDIR-Now satellite rainfall data on observation rainfall data in Serang City to determine the feasibility of using satellite rainfall data and the influence of rain periods (daily (>50mm/day), 15 days, and monthly) on the reliability of satellite data. The analysis method in this study uses statistical analysis in the form of regression analysis at the calibration stage and RMSE, NSE, and Pearson (r) correlation coefficient at the validation stage. Based on the results of the study , it is known that the PDIR-Now satellite can estimate the best rainfall in the monthly period.

Abstract

Reduced rainfall characterizes drought compared to the usual levels and persists for over a season. Drought is crucial in exacerbating water scarcity, hindering its ability to meet fundamental needs. It remains a persistent issue in various regions of Indonesia, including the Ciujung watershed. The primary objective of this study is to assess the spatial and temporal distribution of drought using SPI-based drought index maps in the Ciujung watershed. One method for determining drought severity in each area is employing the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI). Rainfall data spanning the past 22 years, collected by 10 rain gauge stations, were analyzed using the ArcGIS application to generate drought maps. SPI analysis yields drought indices for various short-term periods, such as 3-month SPI, 6-month SPI, 9-month SPI, and 12-month SPI. The most prolonged drought period was documented at the Ciboleger rain station, extending over 48 months. In contrast, the most severe drought was recorded at the Bojongmanik rain station in Lebak Regency, with a value of -3.46. This research underscores the effectiveness of short-term SPI measurement in providing more detailed insight into drought conditions, emphasizing the significance of immediate preventive measures in regions experiencing the most severe drought conditions.

Abstract

Flooding is one of the natural disasters that can occur in various parts of the world and may arise suddenly. However, flood events can be predicted or anticipated through relevant scientific approaches. One such method is by estimating the flood discharge in a given area. Rainfall data is one of the essential inputs required to determine flood discharge. In practice, however, ground-based rainfall measurements often have limitations. To overcome these shortcomings, satellite-based rainfall data can be utilized. There are notable differences between directly measured rainfall data and satellite-derived rainfall data; therefore, satellite data must be calibrated or validated prior to conducting further analysis. One of the most widely used satellite rainfall datasets is the GPM (Global Precipitation Measurement) satellite data, which has a spatial resolution of 0.1° x 0.1°. This study employs a combination of two statistical methods—validation and calibration—to evaluate rainfall data. Prior to evaluation, the RMSE and NSE values did not meet acceptable standards, and the correlation value was low. However, after the evaluation using both methods, improvements were observed: RMSE and NSE values became acceptable, and the correlation increased. These results indicate that the applied methods are effective for evaluating rainfall data. For future research, monthly or annual rainfall data can be utilized to further explore the relationship between different temporal scales of rainfall observations.
