Abstract

In social context, the common reality indicates that women becoming victim of men’s suppression. In modern terminology, the suppression is called “misogyny” meaning direct or indirect suppression on women whether in a rude or soft manner. The suppression itself occurs since men (including Moslems) do not have gender awareness and sensitivity. The awareness on women inequality has been detected since the presence of gender analysis in sociology. This paper focuses on the perception of women marginality in terms of the anatomy, theological vision, and historical experience. The perception of marginality does not immediately judge on the superiority of men towards women and the marginality of women. This perception appears since the different divison of role between men and women has become an important part of human civilization dynamics. The perception on women marginality is then irrelevant correlated to the guidance applied by the Prophet Muhammad saw that gave the same chance among men and women. For this reason, the concept of equality between men and women has a significant root and foundation in religious texts.[Realitas yang berlangsung di masyarakat pada umumnya menyebutkan kaum perempuan sebagai korban penindasan oleh kaum laki-laki. Praktik penindasan dalam istilah modern disebut misogyny, yang berarti tindakan penindasan terhadap kaum perempuan, baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung dengan kasar maupun halus. Terjadinya penindasan tersebut disebabkan mereka (termasuk di dalamnya umat Islam) belum memiliki kesadaran dan sensitivitas jender yang utuh. Kesadaran tentang adanya ketidakadilan yang menimpa kaum perempuan baru dirasakan setelah alat analisis jender dalam ilmu-ilmu sosial ditemukan. Tulisan ini mencoba membincang persepsi keterpinggiran perempuan dilihat dari sisi anatomi, visi teologis, hingga pengalaman kesejarahan. Dari hasil kajian ditemukan bahwa persepsi keterpinggiran perempuan tidak menjustifikasi superioritas laki-laki terhadap perempuan, dan apalagi memarginalkannya. Ini lantaran pembagian peran yang berbeda antara keduanya menjadi bagian penting dalam dinamika peradaban manusia. Persepsi keterpinggiran perempuan kemudian menjadi terbantahkan manakala dihadapkan kepada regulasi yang diterapkan oleh Nabi Muhammad Saw yang memberi ruang yang sama antara kaum laki-laki dan perempuan. Pada aras inilah konsep kesetaraan kaum perempuan memiliki akar dan landasannya yang signifikan dalam teks- teks keagamaan.]

Abstract

This paper elaborates the concept of knowledge according to the Sufis through the concept of makrifat, which is hierarchically achieved through a process of soul purification (tazkiyah al-nafs). From this process is born awareness of the oneness of Allah, the Most Absolute, which involves the potential of the senses and reason. The research in this article uses the literature study method of Sufism written by Sufis, especially when discussing the subject of makrifat. Such as the works of Rasâil al-Junaid by Al-Junaid al-Baghdadi, Ihya 'Ulum al-Din by Abu Hâmid al-Ghazali, and Kitab al-Zuhud by Ahmad bin Hanbal. The results showed that there are epistemological principles in the science of Sufism (makrifat) that can lead to the acquisition of rational knowledge that is integrated with righteous deeds and the formation of character. These epistemological principles are in the form of liberation of ego, superego, and lust, principles of piety and sincerity, principles of faith that guarantee the functionalization of reason, and principles of revelation that ratify empirical, rational, and intuitive knowledge. These epistemological principles are seen as relevant for the creation of character education and complete human action. Tulisan ini mengelaborasi konsep pengetahuan menurut para sufi melalui konsep makrifat, yang secara hirarkis dicapai melalui proses penyucian jiwa (tazkiyah al-nafs). Dari proses ini lahirlah kesadaran akan keesaan Allah Yang Maha Absolut yang melibatkan potensi inderawi dan rasio. Penelitian dalam artikel ini menggunakan metode studi kepustakaan atas karya-karya tasawuf yang ditulis oleh para sufi, khususnya ketika membahas perihal makrifat. Seperti karya Rasâil al-Junaid oleh Al-Junaid al-Baghdadi, Ihya ‘Ulum al-Din oleh Abu Hâmid al-Ghazali, dan Kitab al-Zuhud oleh Ahmad bin Hanbal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat prinsip-prinsip epistemologi dalam ilmu tasawuf (makrifat) yang dapat mengantarkan kepada perolehan pengetahuan rasional yang terintegrasi dengan amal saleh dan terbentuknya karakter. Prinsip-prinsip epistemologis tersebut berupa pembebasan ego, super ego dan hawa nafsu, prinsip kesalehan dan kesungguhan, prinsip iman yang menjamin fungsionalisasi akal, serta prinsip kewahyuan yang meratifikasi pengetahuan empiris, rasional dan intuitif. Prinsip-prinsip epistemologis ini dipandang relevan bagi terciptanya pendidikan berkarakter dan tindakan paripurna manusia.

Abstract

This article describes the visible conditions of modern human development that display a different phenomenon. Previously, they were famous for their all-materialistic lifestyle, but now they seem to be heading towards spiritual things. On the one hand, this shows a good change. If you pay close attention to this phenomenon, you can see that there is a tug of war between escapism and illuminates, whether the shift of modern human attention to the spiritual is only limited to escapism to avoid the hustle and bustle they experience or illuminates who make themselves aware of the importance of a balance between physical and spiritual needs. This research uses the library research method using deductive-inductive logic reflectively. Discussing this matter, Sufism as the direction that modern humans go in meeting spiritual needs can help humans not only focus on human problems with God but also on issues related to humans and their social realm, Sufism can be relevant to modern life. Thus the balance between the outer and inner aspects can be realized and the shift of humans to the Sufism aspect is an escape (escapism) that leads to enlightenment (illuminati).

Abstract

This paper discusses the issue of theology that is indebted to sciences and technology. Technology, even though imposes a negative impact on theology particulary to those whose faith is still unstable, has strengthened Moslem’s belief and does not become a threat. How technology reinforces the faith of Moslem is strongly related to the agenda of reactualization through the praxis activities. The mode of social life should be put on the basis of social transformation in accordance with needs and challenges. The tranformation is closely tied to the development with race structure or human consciousness with the environment. The modification of human life in order to achieve such transformation can be actualized through four basic cultural structures: ethical constitution, esthetic, work orientation and the knowledge of technology. The writer concludes that four elements mentioned above determines the success of Islamic civilization for the future life.

Abstract

Seiring dengan menguatnya ideologi nasionalis-sekuler pascakemerdekaan, muncullah konsep nasionalisme berdasarkan sejumlah sumber yang bertolak belakang satu sama lain. Itulah nasionalisme eklektik ala Soekarno yang menerapkan analisis Marxis tentang penindasan imperialisme dan pada saat yang sama, menggunakan sikap permusuhan kaum Muslimin terhadap penjajah kafir. Ia menggelindingkan konsep Nasakom untuk menyimbolkan kesatuan nasionalisme, agama dan komunisme. Dalam konteks ini, penulis melihat permasalahan kompleks ideologi Nasakom sehingga banyak tokoh, ulama dan ilmuwan Muslim yang mengambil jarak dengan tokoh nomor wahid di Indonesia saat itu, seperti Muhammad Natsir, Haji Agus Salim, Muhammad Hatta dan Hamka. Tokoh yang disebut belakangan, yakni Haji Abdul Malik bin Abdul Karim Amrullah (Hamka) inilah yang menjadi perhatian penulis terkait konsep nasionalisme yang diusungnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konstruksi pemikiran nasionalisme-religius Hamka dalam karya-karya sastranya, seperti Si Sabariah, Di Bawah Lindungan Ka’bah, Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck dan Merantau ke Deli. Data-data yang diperoleh dari novel-novel di atas dianalisis melalui teori hermeneutika, suatu pendekatan ilmiah yang menghubungkan antara pembaca (qari) dengan teks (al-Maqru’). Along with the strengthening of secular-nationalist ideology post-independence, there arose the concept of nationalism based on a number of sources are opposite to each other. That nationalism eclectic style Soekarno applying Marxist analysis of the oppression of imperialism and at the same time, using the hostility of the Muslims against the infidel invaders. He rolled Nasakom concept to symbolize the unity of nationalism, religion and communism. In this context, the authors look at the complex issue of ideology Nasakom so many leaders, scholars and Moslem scientists who take distance with the figure number one in Indonesia at the time, like Muhammad Natsir, Haji Agus Salim, Mohammad Hatta and Hamka. The latter figure, namely Haji Abdul Malik bin Abdul Karim Amrullah (Hamka) which is the author’s attention related to the concept of nationalism carried. This study aims to determine the construction of nationalism-religious thought Hamka in literary works, such as Si Sabariah, Under the Protection Ka’bah, Sinking Ship Van Der Wijck, and Going away to Deli. The data obtained from the novels above were analyzed through the theory of hermeneutics, a scientific approach that connects the reader (reciter) with texts (al-Maqru‘).

Abstract

Instagram is a social media application that has uses for taking photos, sharing photos in various forms and sharing information with its users. Da'wah delivery can be utilized in the Instagram application media, namely visual da'wah messages where the delivery process uses visuals (images) contained on the Instagram account @sketsadakwahh. Images can convey messages or information to its users. Which account is more dominant among millennials to access. The research conducted by the author aims to find out how Da'wah messages are on the Instagram account @sketsadakwahh by using Roland Barthes' Semiotic Theory Analysis. This research is used by the author is a qualitative approach which aims to be able to understand the phenomena that exist in the object being studied and this research does not require statistical analysis but words or speech on the Instagram account @sketsadakwahh.

Abstract

God himself is an omnipotent being and the principle of belief and confidence. Many experts have expressed the meaning of God, but the problem is that there is no agreement regarding the meaning of God itself, even among philosophers. Discussing God is a very basic problem in the study of philosophy, especially in the philosophy of religion. The study of God itself is a study that will never be finished until the end of the day. But the problem is, in the study of philosophy itself, God is a big question mark, namely does God exist? and how does God exist? These two questions have always been big question marks in the study of philosophy and have made people and philosophers think about them. The problem is even worse, since ancient times many have even claimed that they are gods. If we are good Muslims, we should not question such things or even claim to be God. The duty of a Muslim is only to believe in Allah, feel his power and only worship Him. So with questions like that, there are many ideas about God and it becomes an opening for other people to come in and claim to be God. For this reason, this research aims to answer similar questions using logic so that all humans believe that there is only one God, namely Allah SWT.

Abstract

This article delves into the intricate position of Shia in Islam, exploring the differences between the Sunni and Shia sects, along with the internal sects within Shia. It examines the significant potential of both major sects, hindered, unfortunately, by prolonged conflicts. The primary focus of the article is the exploration of Shia perspectives on leadership and caliphate, with an emphasis on the differing concepts of imamate among Shia sects, including moderate and extreme factions. The research methodology employs a literature review approach with a critical descriptive analysis, gathering data from various sources to support the analysis. The article yields a deeper understanding of the evolution of thought within the Shia sect over time. The results and discussions highlight the importance of comprehending the internal variations within Shia before making negative generalizations. The article asserts that generalizations about Shia can be detrimental, emphasizing the need for a more profound understanding to avoid misconceptions. Ultimately, the article proposes the significance of respecting diverse viewpoints, prioritizing positive assumptions, and seeking common ground between Sunni and Shia within the context of the unity of the Muslim community. In conclusion, this article provides comprehensive insights into the position of Shia in Islam, stimulating contemplation on the unity of the Muslim community and emphasizing the urgency of further research to deepen understanding of diverse Islamic sects

Abstract

Islamic feminism seeks to empower women spiritually and morally, eradicate injustice,and promote gender equality in all areas of life. Humans, both men and women, have equal opportunities to obtain maqamat and ahwal in order to reach true Sufis, as stated in Sufism literature. This article aims to find out and understand about feminist thinking in Sufism in the modern era. This article uses a literature review approach. Literature search was carried out online through Google Scholar which was limited from 2012-2022 with a search process using the keywords "Feminism and Sufism". The results of this research show that feminism is a concept that describes equality between women and men in the social, political and economic fields. Islamic feminists contribute to the production of ideas of egalitarianism and gender activism by placing women centered on their own freedom. There are very few female Sufi names in the history of Sufism because culturally women are often placed in a lower position. In the world of Sufism, the strong influence of culture which is so strict in discriminating people from this aspect of gender, makes the position of women not get a proper space. The impact of the research is expected to be able to answer various challenges for some of the problems that occur in a woman.
